Ion Hazzikostas on the Sword in Silithus
Many players have wondered if Blizzard just forgot about that giant sword that is
sticking out of Silithus. German MMO news site
buffed.de recently interviewed Ion Hazzikostas
to talk about the upcoming Dragonflight expansion, and they asked the important question.
: What's actually happening with the rest of Azeroth? Will we see any revisions or adjustments there - after all, there's still a big sword in the side of our World Soul.
: We used our Artifact Weapons to drain the corruption from that sword in 2018. Everything is fine. It's just just a big splinter. But no, this is a story that really focuses on the new continent of the Dragon Isles. As always, there are going to be some stories that touch Stormwind or Orgrimmar or other major parts of Eastern Kingdoms or Kalimdor. But we're not updating or doing significant new stuff in those old zones. It's really about the dragon Isles.
So there you have it; it's merely a splinter...or is it?
Back in 2020, T&E asked a similar question in
an interview with Steve Danuser
Taliesin & Evitel
: Will the sword disappear from Silithus?
: The sword has a part to play in something to come.
So the sword may yet be a part of the story, but likely won't be addressed in Dragonflight. Speculation for 11.0, with apologies to
: "Whoso pulleth out this sword of this planet is rightwise king born of all Azeroth."
