Hearthstone: Upcoming Changes
Hearthstone quickly captured everyone's attention after its announcement at PAX East 2013. The Hearthstone: Fireside Chat is a panel that covers the team, the game's history and inception, and where Hearthstone is going in the future. Here's a summary of what's new and what's coming for Hearthstone players from the game developers themselves.

Hearthstone: Upcoming Changes & Expansions
In addition to previewing the new
Elite Tauren Chieftan
legendary card from BlizzCon, they had a few tidbits for Hearthstone.
Open beta will be in December 2013.
Hearthstone will be available for the iPhone and Android, with the iPad version being functional at the con to check out.
They are considering eSports heavily, including a spectate mode.
New boards will be coming. New emotes will be coming.
is frustrating to play against so it's going to cost 10 mana.
is going to become a 2/1.
is going to be reworked, they are not sure with what yet.
Ranked play is going to be changed to be much more competitive. There will be twenty-five new ranks, each one featuring a minion as their rank--rank 25 will be angry chicken.
There will be one month seasons.
If you reach top rank, you become a legend. Legends can see exactly how good they are in their region and they can't fall out of the status for the season--every 24 hours it will be updated, so you can see if you climb or fall in legends.
Ranked play will have a special card back for each season; each month there will be a new card back to earn.
There will be golden heroes and golden hero powers. Winning 500 games with a hero will do that.
Arena will have 12 wins, with three new keys: Molten, Frostborn, and Lightforge keys.
Reconnecting will not be an automatic loss in a future patch.
New effects will happen for new legendaries.
Hearthstone is going to have expansions much like a trading card game would have. These will start coming soon.
However, they also want to do content patches not tied to an expansion. These will be
. Adventures will be scenarios where a single player PvE experience unlocks and you fight against bosses to earn new cards--these cards will shift the metagame to keep it from being stale.
Hearthstone: The Early Days
Blizzard experimented a lot and can talk endlessly about how the game was reborn and changed over and over again. At one point, heroes could hide in fortresses to turtle! Interestingly enough, arena eventually was born out of an affinity for draft modes in MtG--however, they ran into problems with draft mode taking too long and being too slow. So they decided to make it split up like how it is today where there's a drafting process then you can play games whenever you want until you hit the cap.
