Game Director Ion Hazzikostas Acknowledges Raid Gearing Issues
Game Director Ion Hazzikostas has acknowledged issues with Shadowlands raid gearing. While dungeon improvements are going out quickly in 9.0.5, they are continuing to look at raid gear issues in the future.
Earlier today, Blizzard announced the
return of Valor Points
as a currency to upgrade Mythic+ gear up to 220. However, due to the nature of raid loot tables, it is difficult to adjust raid loot systems mid-Season.
, Ion also stated that improving raid and dungeon loot would be a focus in future patches.
One big topic of discussion has been the way loot works in the Shadowlands endgame: We significantly reduced the rate at which players earn item rewards, but at the same time also stripped away randomness and tried to give everyone more clear goals to pursue and control over their progress towards them. When it comes to PvP itemization specifically, we're really happy with how that's playing out, but we think we can do more to make the experience of running dungeons and raids feel more satisfying when you don't get a specific item you were hoping for.
