Someone pointed out a quote in the BBC article saying:
"What we've seen from the exploit so far is it stealing game passwords, but it's inevitable that it will be adapted by criminals," he said. "It's just a question of modifying the payload the trojan installs."
Like stealing game passwords is a "pretend" crime. From what I've heard, it's a better investment for a criminal to steal a WoW password than a credit card, since the credit card is more likely to be traced and deactivated before the criminal can spend the money.
