Crowd Control on Amarth in Necrotic Wake - Mythic+ Tip of the Week
This Mythic+ Tip of the Week revolves around Amarth, the second boss in Necrotic Wake. We explain what to do when you have adds remaining when the Final Harvest cast is going off! This is incredibly useful for clutch moments, but also for regular strategy making on this fight.

What You Need
There are many forms of crowd control that have type requirements and for this you need any crowd control that works on undead units such as
. After checking the requirement of your crowd control working on Undead units then you may proceed.
Once you have adds that you would like to CC, you can use a corresponding effect on them. This works best on the mobs such as the
How Does it Work
Any mob that is under the effect of Crowd Control whenever
finishes will not detonate by the boss and wipe you. This means that a lot of groups will elect to CC 1
with something such as
(this one is OP since Holy Paladin is meta) and then drag the boss on top of the other
to get rotational kicks.
You can see in the clip above that the Holy Paladin uses
on the one
which makes it flee forever away. Amarth will eventually cast the
with that mob still CC'ed and it not wipe the group because it is CC'ed. This also works on all the other mobs and all other CC effects including AOE stuns.
This little tidbit of knowledge is useful if you are about to wipe and panicking about how many adds are left alive. If you have an elite Demon Hunter in your group with
or any class with an AOE CC available, then they may be able to save your whole party. The mobs just have to be stunned at the moment that the
goes off, and you can see that done in this clip. This is not the most useful strategy to reliably use compared to the mage CC, but this is something that can save your group.
When to Do This
If you are going to wipe, similar to the second clip, then throwing out all Crowd Control you can and praying can be a viable solution if you would otherwise die. It can be consistent to CC all the warriors / crossbowmen, but it is not a really viable solution every time depending on where the mobs spawn and killing the adds will typically be better.
As for CCing the
, this can and should be done every time if you have ccs available that work on him. You can even CC both mages and ignore them entirely if that makes sense for your group as well.
