Content Improvements in Patch 8.1 Tides of Vengeance
With Tides of Vengeance launched last week, we thought it would be helpful to review patch changes and what types of content are now easier to complete. With the holidays coming up, perhaps this list will inspire you to work on some projects in older parts of Azeroth!
Achievements with Rewards
With more mounts, pets, and toys in the patch, working towards collection achievements should be easier:
for collecting 350 mounts rewards
for collecting 400 mounts rewards
for collecting 400 toys rewards
for collecting 800 pets rewards
for collecting 1000 unique pets rewards

Battle for Azeroth Toys
Island collectibles will be easier to farm with
. This includes mounts, pets, toys, and Plundered transmog at the end of runs. With the changes in Patch 8.1, you do not need to sacrifice speed to increase your chances of getting Island rewards. Now, simply clear the Island at your own pace, and if the Island has the type of NPC
that's affiliated with a reward you are after, you might get it at the end of the run. You do not need to specifically kill these NPCs or trigger extra invasions, like you had to in 8.0, for more chances at collectible loot.
In addition, all of the pets for
are now cageable.
There are many improvements to leveling and alts in Patch 8.1, which we've detailed in

. Here are the highlights:
The experience required to level from 20 to 120 has been reduced considerably in 8.1. While the Legion and Battle for Azeroth range is being reduced by only a very small amount, the experience required for previous expansions is going down by 10-40% for each level
For the under-represented faction, the Enlisted bonus from War Mode will offer a 30% experience boost, up from the default 10% for enabling War Mode.
provide a way to get quick experience as well as a buff upon completion for experience gains.
A new Warfronts currency was added in Patch 8.1, which offers several new Heirlooms. The new currency,
, can be earned by participating in Warfront activities in both Arathi Highlands and Darkshore, at a rate of 1 per Warfront world quest and 15 per Warfront Battle completion, with an additional 5 per Faction Assault completion.
While the new heirlooms do not fill any new gear slots, the
provides an hour long 10% experience buff, which can help speed up the leveling process.
Account-bound experience potion, good for alts.
Heirloom cloak with stats focused for tanks.
Heirloom trinket with a Critical Strike party buff as an on-use effect.
Heirloom trinket with a threat reduction on-use effect.

Darkshore will have
new rare mobs
, similar to Arathi Highlands, which drop gear in addition to various pets, mounts, and cosmetic items.
The new Warfront: Battle for Darkshore will award a 385 piece of gear upon quest completion, along with a 340 piece of gear for every win.
Completing four Faction Incursion world quests will award a 370 weapon or Azerite armor.
A new world boss,
, can drop item level 385 gear for the faction currently in control of Darkshore.
When Season 2 releases in January,
virtually every activity reward will have its item level increased
, with a new Titanforge cap of 425.
Grinding reputation to unlock Allied Races is easier in Patch 8.1 Tides of Vengeance.
The World Quests for factions associated with Legion Allied Races now award more reputation.
The reputations associated with the BFA Allied Races
Dark Iron Dwarves
are also easier to acquire:
8.0 War Campaign quests now award higher amounts of reputation.
Contracts have been added for 7th Legion and Honorbound factions.
Warfronts have World Quests which grant 7th Legion and Honorbound reputation.
grants 500 reputation on your home continent, and 1000 reputation on the enemy continent.
Champions of Azeroth
If you reach revered with Champions of Azeroth in one character, all characters in your account will be able to acquire the Heart of Azeroth upgrade from Magni, as soon as Tides of Vengeance launches.

100 Exalted Reputations
is now completely account-wide, meaning you won't lose out on swapping mains or earning exalted first with a different character. Reputations with equivalents on the opposite faction will only count once towards that.

If you enjoy collecting transmog, there are several improvements in Patch 8.1:
Island Reward system
has been revamped, so you no longer need to choose between doing a speed clear for Azerite and a slow clear for a higher chance of rewards. Now in Patch 8.1, simply clear as fast as you can, and higher difficulties give a greater chance of themed rewards.

loosened the restrictions
on tabards and cosmetic transmog items that were formerly locked behind reputation requirements. In Patch 8.1, you simply need to unlock the items on one character and learn their appearance for alts to use them as well.
