Artisan Riding Skill Removed in Shadowlands
The second highest rank of riding on live, the 280% flight speed Artisan Riding, has been removed in the latest Shadowlands build. Along with the
other leveling changes
, this means characters will effectively skip the 280% movespeed training, saving a significant amount of gold in the process - a very nice quality of life change, especially considering the gap between Expert and Master Riding will only last 10 levels.
On live there are five ranks of riding, each 20 levels apart, but the last two increasing flying movement speed by 130% and 30% respectively. Post-leveling squish in Shadowlands, that training is condensed down to four ranks every 10 levels, with the last providing a much more significant increase to mount speed at the same cost. In total, this will both save players money and get them to max rank that much easier. Unfortunately we're not yet able to test what happens on a live character who has Artisan Riding, but doesn't yet have Master unlocked, but we should be able to figure it out once character copies are enabled again.
Initially, the spell diff picked up several tooltip changes to the riding skills and the new text was
to have removed the cost of training flying altogether. Unfortunately that proved not to be the case, and you do still have to train riding skills, but paring down Artisan Riding still saves players around 5,000 gold, which is not an insignificant investment.
