encounter on the
Mythic Difficulty
in Antorus, the Burning Throne. This guide includes tips and strategies for dealing with the new mechanics introduced in these difficulties. For LFR, Normal and Heroic difficulties, please

Argus the Unmaker is a four phase encounter in which the raid will need to deal with several devastating abilities and debuffs. The raid will be helped by the Titans throughout each of the four distinct phases, via powerful buffs being placed on the raid or devastating debuffs being placed on the enemies. Careful planning and excellent group coordination will be needed to take down Argus the Unmaker.
Argus the Unmaker is the final boss in Antorus, the Burning Throne; available December 5th on Mythic difficulty. Argus the Unmaker is available after defeating
Aggramar
.

Mythic Difficulty
Mythic Argus calls for excellent positioning, co-ordination and ability knowledge from all players looking to take him down. Phases one and two remain similar to the heroic version of the encounter, however heroic phase three no longer exists and heroic phase four (mythic phase three) has been heavily redesigned.
Composition
Although the fight has no specific class requirements, having a few certain classes will assist you greatly when fighting Argus.
Having a warlock will help as the raid can make great use of their Gateways during phases two and three.
A feral/guardian druids
狂奔怒吼
can help the raid spread quickly at key points of the encounter.
Paladins can help cover for players mistakes during phase 3 if they are hit by the scythes which shoot across the room, as

can remove the physical damage dot.
In terms of overall raid composition, the group wants to bring 3 tanks and 4 healers.
The third tank will spend the majority of their time damaging the boss during phases one and two, however they are very helpful during phase three.
Although it is possible to three heal the encounter, it is useful to have a fourth healer during progression to help cover for player mistakes.
The raid may also wish to limit the amount of melee DPS that they bring.
Having more than 6 melee DPS can make the area around melee very cluttered, which is problematic at points in which melee need to spread out.
However, with all of this said, any sensible composition will be good enough to take down Argus on Mythic difficulty.

The main new mechanic in this encounter is

. On a timer the boss will cast Sargeras' Gaze which applies two different debuffs to randomly chosen non tank players, either

places a clear red circle around a player. If
no
other player is within the circle then the player will begin to gain stacks of
毁灭之惧
, a hard hitting 20 second dot.

is a red circle with a spiked square placed on top of it. If
any
other player is within the circle, that player will begin to gain stacks of
狂野怒意
, another hard hitting 20 second dot.
These debuffs only drop when
萨格拉斯的凝视
is recast and new debuffs are to the raid. This is every 30 seconds in phase one.
Initially, the boss will apply a single
萨格拉斯的狂怒
and a single
萨格拉斯的恐惧
. However each time the ability is cast, the boss will place one more of the debuffs out on the raid.
This alternates between adding a new
萨格拉斯的恐惧
and adding a new
萨格拉斯的狂怒
, starting with adding an additional
萨格拉斯的恐惧
.
Stack on players who have
萨格拉斯的恐惧
.
Stand away from players with
萨格拉斯的狂怒
.
The targets for
萨格拉斯的狂怒
are not picked entirely randomly. Instead the targets are picked randomly from a pool of players, either a melee DPS or a Ranged DPS/Healer.
The first
萨格拉斯的狂怒
will always be applied to a melee DPS. It is not until two
萨格拉斯的狂怒
s are placed on the raid at once that ranged DPS/healers will be targeted by the spell.
Below you can find a small chart listing what pools of players, and how many of players from each pool, are targeted by each
萨格拉斯的凝视
debuff throughout the fight.

You have three seconds to react after receiving this notification!
Each time a set of

is about to be applied, the raid has a three second notice period in which to spread.
Ranged players want to be roughly 8 yards apart from one another.
萨格拉斯的狂怒
targets should remain still whilst the rest of the raid stacks up quickly behind the boss.
萨格拉斯的恐惧
players should be escorted by others to ensure that they have as few
毁灭之惧
stacks as possible.
Melee need to be assigned a location to spread to every time
萨格拉斯的狂怒
is due to come in.
Create two triangle formations under the boss, one on his left leg, one on the right.
Each corner of the triangle is 6+ yards apart. Each of these points should be within melee range of the boss.
This positioning allows melee to still do damage regardless of what debuff they have but also be able to move to either assist fears or move away from rages.
If you have more than six melee you can do other formations instead, although it is likely that some melee players will not be in range of the boss at all times.
During phase one, melee players afflicted with
萨格拉斯的狂怒
should move through the boss to the right hand side when it's safe to do so ( when scythe is on CD and no one is in the way). Melee players with rage can never be targeted by the
死亡之锥
, so they do not need to be lined up with the raid in order to bait the
死亡之锥
during phase one.
Phase One
Aside from the addition of
萨格拉斯的狂怒
, phase one has no brand new abilities. Instead ability timers are different and far more dangerous in comparison to normal mode.
All abilities throughout this phase can be easily countered as long as the raid follows a strict set of rules for each ability.
Tanks will want to taunt off each other on three stacks of
巨镰横扫
throughout the phase.
Although it is possible to refresh your
海洋之赐
/
天空之赐
debuffs throughout the phase 100% of the time as a tank using a 3 taunt switch, it isn't always very easy.
During the early stages of progression, do not worry too much about gaining the debuffs every time, instead focus on boss positioning and
巨镰横扫
management.
The healers will need to counter the damage from
痛苦之怒
and the
灵魂凋零
debuff, whilst using a healing cooldown when these two damage sources overlap.
Healers should not worry about saving cooldowns for phase two, as the healing requirement in that phase is very low.
The raid will need to remain stacked to ensure that the
死亡之锥
is placed close to the previous death fog patch.
The melee
萨格拉斯的狂怒
target will not need to stand in line with the group and should instead stand to the right side of the boss as to not get in the way of the raid as it moves from the
死亡之锥
.
The ranged
萨格拉斯的狂怒
target will need to stand in line with the group to bait the
死亡之锥
. That player should stand as close to the group as they can to ensure they can avoid the cone when it is cast.
After each cone, the tanks should ensure that there is enough space for the raid to move around in without running the risk of a player being hit by the
巨镰横扫
by moving the boss slightly around the room.
Players with the
灵魂凋零
debuff need to place their debuffs behind the stacked raid group.
If a player has a
萨格拉斯的恐惧
and a
灵魂凋零
debuff, they will need to be escorted to the back of the room by the third tank or a mobile ranged DPS. This will prevent that target from gaining any
毁灭之惧
stacks.
During points in which
灵魂凋零
and
痛苦之怒
is cast together,
灵魂凋零
afflicted players should look to use a defensive cooldown or a healthstone to ensure they remain healthy.
Players with the
灵魂凋零
debuff must be careful not to run ahead of the group to drop their debuff when the
死亡之锥
is cast, as this can cause the
死亡之锥
to be placed ahead of the group.
The
海洋之赐
/
天空之赐
debuff orbs need to be placed in locations where the majority of the raid can access them.
The raid wants to transition into phase two by the time the boss casts his 5th
死亡之锥
. Having a high uptime on the
海洋之赐
/
天空之赐
debuffs across the raid will make this more achievable.
The first debuff orbs should be placed on either side of the raid group. This will allow the melee
萨格拉斯的狂怒
target to also gather a debuff once the raid has gathered theirs.
Players may want to slightly delay gaining their debuffs on the first set to ensure that it will be refreshed by the time they pick up the second set.
The second debuff orbs should be placed ahead of the group. The players should then stack up to bait the
死亡之锥
. The debuffs can then be gathered as the entire group moves from the
死亡之锥
.
Any player who picks up the orbs early runs the risk of baiting the
死亡之锥
ahead of the group - likely leading to a wipe.
The third and fourth
海洋之赐
/
天空之赐
debuffs do not overlap dangerously with any other mechanic so the debuff orbs should just be placed near the raid.
Place the first set of orbs on either side of the raid.
Place the second set of orbs in the path the raid will take to avoid the
死亡之锥
!
Transitioning into Phase Two
Ideally the raid will want to transition Argus into phase two at 70% immediately before or after the fifth
死亡之锥
. If you're going to transition after the cone then you'll want to taunt the boss during his cast.
This, for whatever reason, forces him to delay his next
萨格拉斯的凝视
cast, giving you a couple of extra seconds to transition him without getting the next set.
This is advantageous, as the amount of
萨格拉斯的凝视
debuffs that are applied to the raid each cast is carried over between phases.
If the group is unable to make this DPS check, then the group will have to deal with additional
萨格拉斯的凝视
debuffs in phases two and three, which isn't the end of the world but it certainly makes the fight more tricky.
Phase Two
Phase two is the easiest phase of the three and is very similar to the Heroic encounter, aside from the addition of the
萨格拉斯的凝视
debuffs which now are applied every 60 seconds rather than every 30. Similarly to phase one, the abilities can easily be dealt with by the raid as long as they abide by the rules listed below.
Tanks should position the boss against the far wall and taunt off each other on three stacks.
The tank who gains the
阿格拉玛的化身
debuff should stand on the raid when
灵魂爆发
is due to expire, so tanks may need to switch more frequently than three stacks.
The third tank can be used in this phase to help "smooth out" the tank swap rotation, by filling in for the situations where the tanks need to switch but the
阿格拉玛的化身
needs to remain on the raid.
Players with the
灵魂爆发
debuff, alongside the rest of the raid, should remain stacked up underneath the boss on top of the tank with with
阿格拉玛的化身
debuff.
The
灵魂爆发
explosion does not do enough damage to one shot the raid, even if both are stacked on top of it. The
阿格拉玛的化身
tank will make this healing easier by consolidating the majority of damage onto one player.
Players with the
萨格拉斯的狂怒
should stand on either side of the boss if they are melee, or away from the group if they are ranged.
Stack next to the boss if you have the
灵魂爆发
or
萨格拉斯的恐惧
!
Healers who recieve the
灵魂炸弹
debuff should move to the back of the room and sacrifice themselves.
Other healers should spot heal the
灵魂炸弹
afflicted target as they travel due to the heavy damage they will be taking on their path.
A warlock should set up a gateway to ensure that the healers can travel to the opposite side of the room quickly.
Ranged players should move towards the boss when the healer afflicted with
灵魂炸弹
is due to explode. This will reduce the
灵魂炸弹
damage they will take.
Healers afflicted with
萨格拉斯的恐惧
may need escorting to the Warlock gateway to ensure they do not die before they reach the back of the room.
Immmunities or an
先祖护佑图腾
can be placed at the back of the room for the healers to use to survive the
灵魂炸弹
. However this is not needed as the overall healing required for this phase is low.
Ranged players who do not receive either of the
萨格拉斯的凝视
debuffs or the
灵魂爆发
debuff, should stand outside of the group to bait the
湮灭刀锋
scythes away from the stacked raid group.
This reduces the overall movement the stacked raid needs to do, which can help keep them stacked up within the tanks

debuff.
The

debuffs should be dealt with in the same way as phase one, by having melee players assume their triangle formations whilst ranged players loosely spread.
As two melee players will receive the
萨格拉斯的狂怒
debuff simultaneously during phase two, they should position themselves on either side of the boss to ensure they can both be within melee range.
The ranged
萨格拉斯的狂怒
player should stand away from the group as to not hamper the groups ability to dodge the Edge of Obilteration scythes.
The group should aim to transition Argus at 40% before his sixth cast of
萨格拉斯的凝视
goes off. This will once again reduce the overall number of
萨格拉斯的凝视
debuffs that the raid will need to handle in phase three.
Upon transitioning, the raid should stack up and die to each others
萨格拉斯的狂怒
debuffs as soon as possible. This will allow potion cooldowns to expire just as the raid enters phase three.
Phase Three
During the intermission the raid is wiped. Argus will disappear for a while and then return. This entire process takes 1 minute and 10 seconds. Argus will reappear at 60% health and begin to cast
万物的终末
.
At this point the raid can release spirit and use the
生命缚誓者的恩赐
tree to resurrect and begin to fight the boss.
Phase three is drastically different from its heroic counterpart and has multiple new abilities the raid needs to deal with, including the
萨格拉斯的凝视
debuffs from phases one and two.
Apocalypsis Modules spawn on a random non-tank non-
萨格拉斯的狂怒
debuffed players location... So stack up!

A single
天启模组
will spawn on a timer on a single non-tank, non-
萨格拉斯的狂怒
debuffed player. These modules increase in size the longer they're alive whilst slowly depleting their own health pools, however the area does not despawn once the Apocalypsis Module dies.
The
天启领域
that remains will kill any player who stands within it very quickly.
These areas act as the pseudo-enrage of the encounter as you need to kill the boss before the entire room is covered and you have no where to stand.
It's important that these modules spawn in set locations and killed quickly to maximise the space you have.
The raid will need to kill a total of four of these, ignoring the fifth.
萨格拉斯的判决
On a timer two players will receive a 30 second debuff called
萨格拉斯的判决
. This deals ticking damage over its 30 second duration. Once the debuff expires or is removed, the entire raid receives a nasty 10 second dot called

.
His dot can stack if multiple chains are broken within 10 seconds of one another.
You can remove the debuff by moving a little over 40 yards away from where you originally received it.
These chains come in every 60 seconds and healing cooldowns are needed to cover every set.
These chains need to be broken at times of low raid damage. When to break chains in which set is covered in a later section of this guide.
Players with
萨格拉斯的判决
and Sargaras' Gaze will need to be escorted so they can break their chain safely!
The
萨格拉斯的判决
can be applied to players with any Sargaras' Gaze debuff. Don't stand on the spinning
毁灭之锋
blades!
If a player has the
萨格拉斯的恐惧
debuff and the
萨格拉斯的判决
debuff, they will need to be escorted out 40 yards to break their chain.
You can also break these chains by using feign death, vanish and invisibility to save you having to run. Immunities do not work.
You'll need to break 4 sets of these chains and spam heal the fifth set of debuffs as these will not be broken.
毁灭之锋
Blades
These blades will begin to spin covering one half of the room. Shortly afterwards a new set will then appear on the direct opposite side of the room. The first set will then shoot across, firing between the second set of blades. The second blades will then spin and fire out moments later.
Standing in the middle of the room is a death sentence without an immunity or blessing of protection.
These blades are countered by standing at the edges of the room and using the simple rule of stand on them if they're still, move from them if they're spinning and move into the space the spinning blades leave once they have shot across the room.
You'll have to deal with these
毁灭之锋
blades three times in this last phase.
碎魂之镰
These
碎魂之镰
are similar to the
巨镰横扫
in phases one and two, however they deal more damage, the debuff is permanent and it also spawns
撕裂之魂
orbs.
Each time a tank is hit a single Rent Soul orb will spawn per stack the tank gains from the hit.
As an example: the tank gets hit and receives his second
碎魂之镰
debuff, he will spawn two Rent Soul orbs.
Have the off-tank and third tank soak Rent Soul orbs throughout phase three!
The Rent Soul orbs will spawn randomly throughout the room and begin to fixate a random player.
Once they reach the player they explode dealing near lethal damage to most players without a damage reduction or large health pool.
As one tank is always going to be busy with the boss it's the job of the other two tanks, primarily the third tank, to go and soak the orbs as they spawn.
You must be careful as you soak them as they deal a huge amount of damage and if you soak 3 or 4 of them in quick succession your healers may not keep you up.
Tanks should use cooldowns in situations where you soak multiple orbs at the same time.
Throughout the phase, apart from at one set point, the tanks simply taunt off each other after the previous tank has deliberately died on the fifth
碎魂之镰
hit.
This is done to reduce the amount of Rent Soul orbs that the other tanks need to soak.
You can use the tree to resurrect after each death however you'll need to use battle resurrections or
先祖护佑图腾
s towards the end of the encounter when the tree is long gone.
Whilst running to the tree, use that opportunity to pick up
泰坦能量微粒
on the way. Do not go too far out your way however as you will need to be alive sooner rather than later to help soak orbs.
The raid will also need to deal with the
痛苦之怒
during this phase. This is on a timer that changes throughout the phase.
Ability Timings & Strategy
Although this section of the guide may seem a bit laborious, phase three requires a high amount of precise positioning and co-ordination. It's like a dance routine that
everyone
must know the steps for. Below you can find a full run down of phase three, with explanations of what happens when and how to handle it.
Once everyone has resurrected via the tree, the ranged DPS and healers to move to the opposite side of the room.
At this time you want to use Bloodlust and damage potions whilst you focus damage into the boss.
Make sure to interrupt the
万物的终末
cast as late as possible to gain extra time in this last phase.
Shortly after the interrupt move the boss ~20 yards ahead of the ranged camp, facing right against the wall. At this point you'll have the first
毁灭之锋
blades.
The ranged camp can move together and dodge the blades whilst the melee players do the same on the opposite side of the boss.
As the second blades pass across the room, the group should use movement speed increases and spread as the first
萨格拉斯的凝视
comes in.
As
萨格拉斯的凝视
is cast, range spread towards the middle of the room and melee make their triangle formations on either side of the boss.
Once the debuffs have been applied all non-rage players move immediately underneath the boss.
Melee rages move to the left hand side of the boss and range rages stay towards the middle of the room.
You'll then have your first
天启模组
spawn. You'll want to nuke it down and move as a group when it reaches around 20%. This will ensure that nobody is within its
天启领域
as it dies.
Melee
萨格拉斯的狂怒
targets should move early so they do not block the raid.
As you move the first tank should die from his 5th
碎魂之镰
and the next tank should move the boss to the next position to the side of the module patch, making sure to leave a slight gap for
撕裂之魂
orb soaking.
This will be followed up by the first set of
萨格拉斯的判决
chains.
We break both of these simultaneously and use a large healing cooldown to cover it.
Note that 2 stacks of
断裂羁绊
deals a large amount of raid damage over 10 seconds and therefore a solid cooldown is required.
A discipline priest chaining their cooldowns or paladin
光环掌握
works well here.
A while later the second Apocalypsis Module will spawn. The second tank should die to the fifth hit and the boss should be moved by the first tank as the module is killed off.
As it dies the ranged group now must move towards the middle of the room rather than towards the boss.
This is because you're about to have your second set of
萨格拉斯的凝视
debuffs and you want the ranged players to be away from the melee space around the boss.
After the debuffs have gone out the ranged and melee camps should now move to the wall of the room and make a single group again.
This is to avoid a set of incoming set
毁灭之锋
blades.
Ranged players with the
萨格拉斯的狂怒
should stand at maximum range against the wall. This will ensure that the rest of the group do not get clipped by the rage as the dodge the
毁灭之锋
blades.
Melee players with the
萨格拉斯的狂怒
can stand on the bosses right hand side and dodge the blades,however this is risky.
Ultimately the best strategy is to completely ignore your damage and just get out the way of the raid and stand towards the tree if you are not confident in dodging the
毁灭之锋
without being against the wall.
When blades are over all players without
萨格拉斯的狂怒
should stack next to the boss, ready for the next Apocalypsis Modules. During this time you will also have the second set of
萨格拉斯的判决
chains.
Now, whilst it's possible to break both these chains and out-heal the 2 stacks of
断裂羁绊
, it's far safer to break one and let the other
萨格拉斯的判决
expire on the player after 30 seconds due to overlaps with
痛苦之怒
.
Call a single player to break a chain whilst the other player is spam healed by the healers.
It's a good idea to use externals on a chained player while the Shattered Bond dot is active just to make sure it isn't refreshed by that player dying.
Use a healing cooldown here to cover the raid damage.
When the Apocalypsis Modules spawns, swap to it and kill it off just like the others.
As the first tank dies to the fifth hit again, instead of the second tank taking the boss, the third does instead. This is to ensure that the tank doesn't die by himself later in the encounter.
As the orb dies, the raid again moves away as a single unit and the last chain breaks. Use another healing cooldown here to counter the last Shattered Bond dot.
You'll then have your final set of
毁灭之锋
blades.
Again, the players afflicted with
萨格拉斯的狂怒
must move away from the main group of players and dodge the incoming blades.
Meanwhile the second tank will want to taunt the boss after the third has received 2 stacks of
碎魂之镰
. Once this has happened the tank should stand right next to the old module patch.
You will then have a new set of
萨格拉斯的凝视
debuffs. For this set you want the entire raid to stack and die next to the tree, aside from the tank who is currently holding the boss. This does two things:
You completely skip an entire set of chains as you all die with them
The Apocalypsis Module spawns on the only target alive, the second tank. This places the Apocalypsis Module in an ideal location.
The moment the Apocalypsis Module spawns, the entire raid should release and run into the tree at the same time.
By having the third tank taunt for two stacks before this point, it makes it far more managable for the second tank to stay alive whilst there is no healing.
The second tank should save a cooldown for this procedure to ensure that they can survive without a healer.
Once the raid is alive, you need to have all DPS focus the Apocalypsis Module kill it.
Melee players need to be careful to watch the
碎魂之镰
here as the boss will be facing towards the module.
Have the tank die on the next
碎魂之镰
whilst the first tank moves the boss away. You'll need to battle resurrect tanks from this point onwards. As the orb dies, have one DPS player kill themselves and collect orbs downstairs.
Shamans with ghost wolf or Demon Hunters with their movement speed mastery are fantastic at soaking but essentially anyone can do it.
Argus will cast
痛苦之怒
back to back three times and then you'll get another set of
萨格拉斯的凝视
debuffs.
Use a movement speed increase and spread out. Once the debuffs have been applied, all players who do not have
萨格拉斯的凝视
should then immediately stack back up under the boss for the last Apocalypsis Module.
During the module you'll want to have the first tank die to his fifth stack and around the same time you'll get
萨格拉斯的判决
chains.
For this set of
萨格拉斯的判决
chains, even though most cooldowns are up, you'll want to break one and hold the second. This is again down to timings with
痛苦之怒
.
Use a large healing cooldown for when each of the
萨格拉斯的判决
chains break to cover the
断裂羁绊
damage.
Once this Apocalypsis Module dies, move under the boss and this is your last location you have to kill off Argus if you haven't already.
During this time you will have the final set of
萨格拉斯的凝视
debuffs.
It's vital you spread here as well as you can which can be difficult as you have limited space.
Shortly afterwards you will have another set of
萨格拉斯的判决
chains come in, followed by the last Apocalypsis Module.
Use externals and personals on the chains, ignore the Apocalypsis Module and nuke the boss.
