This gem will NOT replace your current meta socketed gem.
It acts as a prismatic slot just for your helm, so just like your sha-touched weapon, it adds another helm socket which you put Wrathion's gem into.
This is one of
four new legendary meta gems coming in 5.2. It is a reward for completing
as part of MoP's legendary questline:
: +324 Crit & Chance on striking with a melee attack to gain Capacitance. When Capacitance reaches X charges, you will deal a Lightning Strike to your current target for 100 Nature damage.
: +324 Int & Chance on casting a helpful spell to make your next spell cost no mana.
: +324 Stamina & Chance on being hit by a melee attack to gain a 20% reduction to physical damage taken for 15 sec.
: +324 Crit & Chance on dealing spell damage to gain 30% spell haste for 10 sec.
: +665 PVP Power & +775 Resilience. In build 16503 this is no longer legendary!
Blizzard confirmed on 7/29 that these meta gems will work in Patch 5.4 Siege of Orgrimmar helms:
This gem will be oh so delicious for Enhancement Shamans..... mmmmm
I'd assume ranged attacks being added to this one as well, else hunters will be shafted.
I was thinking the same exact thing brother. Enhancement Shamans Mastery is awesome.
They have stated on Twitter that it will also apply to ranged attacks and that the current tooltip is wrong.
Works as follows.
Capacitive Primal Diamond – 21.00 base RealPPM on landing melee/ranged abilities and swings. No ICD.
- At 5 stacks, fires a Lightning Strike, which deals Nature damage. This is considered a ranged attack for Hunters, and a melee attack for everyone else.
- Base proc rate is multiplied by an additional coefficient:
1.152 Fury SMF
1.257 Fury TG
1.721 Feral Cat
1.532 Frost DK 2H
1.134 Frost DK DW
0.950 Beast Mastery
1.000 Anyone Else
Q: What's the rate for specs not mentioned in the list for the Capacitive Primal Diamond? Examples include Blood DKs, Prot Warriors/Paladins.
A: Just the base 21.00 RealPPM.
Q: Can the Capacitive Primal Diamond cause a critical strike?
but it uses your spell crit/hit rates.
Q: One concern from Mistweavers when dealing with Capacitive Primal Diamond is that the Conductive proc would affect Eminence.
A: Yes, the Lightning Strike should trigger Eminence. We don’t expect that to be particularly worthwhile though.
We switched Capacitive to use melee hit/crit instead of spell hit/crit.
Proc now uses ranged crit/hit chances for Hunters.
Real PPM (RPPM) description:
You can buy extra
from the vendor
located in the Tavern in the Veiled Stair for 5x
Once you collect 20
, you will get a quest to kill
and siphon his essence. Afterwards, Wrathion will ask you to meet him on the top of the mountain like in the 5.0 quest, and reward you with one of the legendary meta gems. The quests to collect 12
and kill Lei Shen appear to just be follow ups.
I'm going to guess that since the proc is nature damage, it will scale with Enhance mastery.
Has anyone done any testing to confirm?
The lightning strike does 7% of my total damage done, a lot of people don't like these new gems, but I think this one is better than 3% crit dmg and 216 agility. (rogue speaking).
Is anyone else having issues with their gem not working/procing at all after 4/16/13 reset? I have been raiding for the past 2 hours and I have not had a single stack...
is the stacking buff that tracks charges. At 5 stacks it triggers:
for melee classes which is considered a melee attack.
for hunters which is considered a ranged attack.
procs about every 6 seconds for me as arms. overpower always gives it a stack. still does less overall damage than my collosus smash :(
If a paladin gets around to testing this, could you see if it procs off Seal of Truth and Seal of Insight? Or whether those seals proc off the meta's proc?
Happy to report I read all the comments and did all the quests weeks/months in the making, only to realize I overlooked the fact that you can only place this in iLvl 502 or higher, of which has never dropped for me and no Valor options, so thus far its useless without luck.
Edit: Any Helmet that does not have a BASE item level of 502 before any Valor Upgrades (coming back in 5.3) will not be eligible for this Meta Gem even if your Helmet surpasses iLvl 502 after Valor Upgrades. All credit goes to @Darnakulus for this great information, so don't waste those precious Valor Points on this in 5.3!
VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE as of 5/22/2013:
According to the official 5.3 Known Issues blog, iLvl 496 Helmets that are double upgraded to iLvl 504 are unable to socket the legendary gem because its a BUG/KNOWN ISSUE! This would mean it is intended for you to be able to socket it, and a fix is on the way.
It's worth noting that, since the proc scales with AP, this gem scales very well with vengeance.
Depending on your needs and what kind of content you're doing, this can actually be a viable choice over the
as a tank.
Edit: Since I made this comment, the gem has been nerfed for all tanking specs and is a lot less useful in comparison to the indomitable diamond now, but can still be used if you feel that the extra bit of damage outweighs your survivability. I personally find it highly unlikely that any tank would now pick the Capacitive diamond for progressing in heroic content, but might use it for normals.
As a Combat Rogue, +CRIT is my weakest stat (i.e. my current 1979 rating gives me +3.3%... whoopie).
So, I was incredibly dubious about the value of this gem versus the Agile meta. The 324 Crit is virtually worthless compared to 216 AGI, so it all boils down to Capacitance versus +3% crit damage.
To test this in a real world setting, I ran Normal Stonecore 10 times (up to Slabhide) with the Agile meta and then another 10 times with the Capacitive legendary. All other gear and buffs were the same. Yes, I had to wait an hour or so between each batch of 5. My DPS was recorded by Skada using TOTAL.
Agile Primal Diamond
: 62114 DPS
Capacitive Primal Diamond
: 67170 DPS
Keeping the legendary, most encounters have since continued to show a marginal increase in DPS, but the +CRIT and
to apply the
stack of this gem adds to the already heavy RNG style of the Combat Rogue (Hit, Mastery, Off-hand mechanics, etc)
Don't be afraid to equip this gem in place of the Agile meta as a Combat Rogue. Just don't expect fireworks.
EDIT: To clarify, although Skada is reporting that "
" comprises approx. 8% of my overall damage, it is 5th in the list, and it REPLACES the passive extra damage the Agile Meta would have given to all the other abilities.
C blocked by the damn ilvl requirement. isn't gathering the obnoxiously rare secrets enough? can't believe they felt the need to add another layer of pure rng onto this.
Apologies if this has been discussed and I havent seen a answer to my question, Does the Capacitance damage it does at 5 stacks benefit from a SV Hunters mastery? I would think so being the tool tip says it deals nature damage but im not sure and havent got it yet (2 more pesky slabs to go). Any ideas?
With the launch of 5.3 it appears that the
buff now has a duration of 1 minute before it expires. Previously it literally lasted forever if you didn't do something specific to remove it, even persisting through zone changes and log outs. If I logged out with 4 stacks I would come back with 4 stacks and it would still trigger properly the next time I hit something and rolled over to 5.
A super minor change, but it's certainly one I expected after realizing the meta buff otherwise lasted forever until you died, cancelled it, changed your helm, or used it.
Note: If you upgrade an ilvl 496 helm to 504, you still will not be able to place this Metagem in it.
Tested this as a survival hunter on the test dummy for about 10 mins and the proc did about 5.2% of my damage higher than murder of crows and about the same as the pet melee. The proc might scale with survival mastery (will have to test it) making it more strong for survival.
As a hunter. 300 auto shots on the training dummy. 58 lightning strikes. This translates to about a 96.67% proc chance. There is an internal cooldown but I am not sure exactly what it is, higher than 1 second but lower than 1.5 seconds, I know that.
This can be placed in a
. But, would it serve you better than a
After very limited testing I found that on a feral druid attack a player, you get 1 stack of the proc every 25 attacks, so a 25% chance to get a proc. With 14 procs, regular hitting for an average of 12522 with crits averaging 21595. This was the same as 4 ravages that all crit. I wailed on a mistweaver monk for about 2 minutes and it did around 5% of my damage. I don't know if its better than the pvp gem or just a regular primal gem, but it is not bad. Also I am not sure on this but i think that each stack counts as a buff to be dispelled, so if you are getting purged they will have to purge you more to get everything off.
Also this was with 509 pvp gear fully gemmed and enchanted.
Just wondering if anyone knows, but does the Lightning Strike benefit from Mastery when used by a Enh. Shaman?
I have it from a GM that the procs from the Legendary Meta Gems do not apply / take effect in BGs, RBGs, or Arenas. They
, but this was changed in a hot-fix...
From a hotfix dated December 16:
Battlegrounds and Arenas
Legendary Metagem effects (Capacitive Primal Diamond, Courageous Primal Diamond, Indomitable Primal Diamond, and Sinister Primal Diamond) should no longer have a chance to activate while in an Arena, Battleground, or Rated Battleground.
It's interesting to note that the Throw ability can cause this to proc!
For anyone wondering: Similar to the Legendary Cloak, this item will no longer proc upon reaching level 100.
Despite what the notice says, the item is still available and can be purchased from the vendor in the "Sold by" tab.
For timewalker what does the state squish look like
Even though it says
No longer available to players
you can still buy it
I can't figure how to use this. I bought it, I have a sha touched weapon that I used the eye to add the socket to, but when I try and socket it says "Only meta gems can fit in a metagem slot", and it doesn't go in the sha touched slot. What am I doing wrong?
