anybody knows how to get it?
this is really usefull for like any class, would be boring if it would only be for q...
Most likely this is because of Shaman's and Blizzard doesn't want all classes to have this ability since they are control freaks.
how the hell do you get them?
how is it not obtainable ?
anyone know where to learn this? probably a one time quest reward or something but it would be very handy for skipping the first few mobs in ssc before lurker
try to use the shaman water walking spell if you realy want to skip those moobs
This could very well be something that was removed in Beta, never seen or heard of this elixir anywhere.
As a druid, I sometimes use these on Lurker to combat-rez healers who aren't paying attention and get caught in a spout. I take no damage and can HoT them as they swim back to the fight.
Also: It's not actually a guardian elixir. It didn't knock off my flask when I drank it.
You lose the effect if you get hit, so don't try running over frenzies. =/
Is it safe to assume that if you drink this while falling, and land in water. you'll die? That would be funny to see.
This potion allow you to walk on water, and stay still on water as well. But if you fall from high, you will go underwater, so you take no damage. It doesn't seems to stack with guardians elixir.
Note that with this potion, you can still go underwater at will, without losing the effect.
Everyone should carry a couple of these potions with them at all time. You dont have to use it often, but it is very very useful in given circumstances.
These are very handy to fish in Zul'Gurub if you can't solo-clear the crocolisk packs. Unfortunately, the water-walking ability seems to break quite frequently for no apparent reason. I use a priest, so I can also fish while Levitating... but the same problem occurs. I suppose it's a problem in the zone, not with the elixir.
One note for people who play a priest, and something else like a warrior. Water walking elixir should not be hot keyed the same on one character as levitate is on your priest. They are not the same. Water walking does not save you on your warrior when jumping from a high place.
Hey, it's jesus in a bottle!
As a mage you can blink while under the effect of this buff.
How about cooking while having this buff equipped? It's cool to see a campfire suspended in the middle of a lake!
On the 3.0.8 PTR this elixir can be discovered with Northrend Alchemy Research.
"You can now discover a recipe for the Elixir of Water Walking with Northrend Alchemy Research."
Huge buff for this elixir in 3.0.8.
Confirmed today :
1. Now you can use this elixir to gain the water walking ability and it also works when you are on the mount (used to be "walking" only), its now similar to the shaman and DK skills.
2. Not only that, now you can "use/drink" this elixir while you are on the mount and will not dismount you and you will still gain the buff. Shaman on the other hand, if they will be on their mounts and need to cast water walking, well, they will be dismount automatically.
This now counts as a "Guardian Elixir", which will overwrite any Guardian Elixir effect that you had previously. I am not a rich man, and dare not try using this while Flasked. Hopefully you will get an "A More Powerful Effect is Active" error in case you do get absent minded and try to use this. I hope they remove this soon, as I see now reason for it since it still breaks on damage. Remove that or remove the elixir class please. =/
Edit: Had the presence of mind to use this toward the end of duration on one of my flasks, and it will work while flasked, and will not overwrite the effect, as if it had no attached elixir class.
You can also get these in the reward bag from the fishing dailies.
Would anyone happen to know some awesome areas you can discover with water walking?
hey I noticed in the picture the dude had wings is that a spell or a item or something if anybody knows where can I get it? thx
Get lots of these if you're spending a lot of time in Eastern Kingdoms or Kalimdor doing the Loremaster achievements. Lots of places where you want to get past water quickly, and these are very useful for saving tons of time.
Is it just my bad luck, or have these stopped dropping from the fishing dailies?
Now lasts 20 minutes with
So.... its the same as Path of Frost (DK spell) but then not for ur whole party, right?
This doesn't work very well with mammoths. You need to make sure not to look down or you'll enter the water and probably won't be able to get back up.
In Soviet Russia, water carries you!
aka Shaman in a Bottle
why make this a guardian elixir? and if you are going to make it a guardian elixir, then why continue to make it dispellable upon attack? no other guardian elixir is dispellible upon attack. think blizzard. user your heads once in a while.
Im currently fishing in Tol Barad and have to use the elixir in order to get to the pools, but i notice i fall into the water all the time. It have'nt been like this before when i have used it in wotlk, have anyone else started to feel that this elixir is abit buggy? The buff is there all the time and never cancels itself, but as i said i fall into the water all the time.
lately these seem to be more like "Elixir of Occasionally Walking On Water But Mostly Just Falling Through And Cursing The Damned Potion For Not Working Properly" especially annoying if they suddenly decide to stop working while you're fishing
you'd almost think they were made by engineering by how often they fail...
This is nuts. It's selling for 15-19g each on my server. I have it drop from fishing/cooking dailies every day. I probably should've looked at how much it was before I put them all in my guild bank. Fml.
I am burning through a lot of these because of Tol Barad. It helps get to the dailies and complete them faster (if you don't have the teleport on the tabard). The only downside is that in the AH they are priced like it was made from unicorn tears.
Since no one else gave this here it is, to farm the mats for these, you have to go to Crystalsong forest.
you need 3 Ethreal oils to make 1 elixir of water walking
You need 2 Glassfin Minnows to make 1 Ethreal oil
So go to Crystal song forest, post up at the pool end of the river, not the icecrown end.
Cast a line and farm.
In total, you well need 120 glassin minnows and 20 crystal vials for a stack of Elixir of Water Walking, and an Alchemist if your not one. Plus, doen't take that long to farm these, nobs respawn fast, and ya get 3 to 5 per nob. Only took me a little over an hour to get 120.
I tried to use this while my Flask of the Draconic Mind was on and it didn't work due to the "a more powerful effect" error.
Well into patch 4.2 this elixir is still working worse than it did in Lich King : Falling into the water all the time, hard to get up there walking on the surface again, and not possible to use with a flask.
gathering in Tol Barad made easy! I pop Aspect of Cheetah, run to the flower and dive in. Mount back to the beginning of the canal and they all respawned
while having these buffs you can:
- mount up (even flying mounts)
- cast any skilss (yes, even offensive ones to attack people)
- go fishing
- eat and drink
- dive and swim
please correct me if i'm wrong
it's quite unconfirmed though, if you fall from a certain height to a water, will you get fall damage?
Now the only way to get these is either doing fishing dailies or crafting. They go for 20 to 25 gold per on my server which is a rip off if you ask me. I farm the mats and have an alchemist in my guild make them or pay someone usually 20 to 25 gold per stack of 20 make them. I usually get 1 to 2 a day doing SW and Dalaran fishing dailies though. Oh, and they don't drop off SW rats either.
You can take fall damage on water with this buff, thus taking it off - so careful with that. Great for fishing, especially in places like Darkmoon Island, where there are nodes off-shore... but with no beach in any direction for a long time.
They need to remove the Guardian elixir i think I mean warlocks can mount and waterwalk so can shamans with out losing this slot it's not like it's even or if it MUST be a Guardian elixir dont remove it when we take damage.
has infinite uses, no CD, and moves faster than a mounted character with
(as a paladin with
ground mounted speed is 240%, and with the raft, movement speed can reach 250% to 270% to 290%)
I was having a lot of problems with this elixir and all other water-walking mechanisms. It would dunk me in the water 9 times out of 10, or just never work as I would run in. After a lot of experimentation, I finally figured out that the problem is primarily camera angle, with a minor contribution of avoiding mouse-movement.
I normally keep my camera looking down at my toon, and this elixir will not work if you view from that angle. To get it to work, I change my camera to look toward the horizon from behind my toon. I also try and use keyboard movement instead of the mouse, since mouse movement will occasionally break the effect and dunk me. I can change the camera angle again once I'm standing on the water, but it is likely to break if I keep the top-down view while moving.
No need for Hunters anymore that have a water strider pet, which gives this on use, no CD buff:
If you are a BM hunter, you don't need this elixir. Tame a
in Krasarang Wilds (34,31). Then summon your new pet and activate the
ability. You can walk on water, use your mount on water, and fish on water.
Is there something new about this elixir lately? I sold a bunch for over 400 gold on the auction house but I can't figure out why people would be paying that much
Thought I'd mention, Oralius' Whispering Crystal also causes the "more powerful spell is already active" message. I came out of a raid and ran off to do this quest. When I turned off OWC, the potion worked.
Does this have any use after patch 8.2 with the water walking equipment slot? Perhaps only for under level 20's?
