I can't wait for 3D model!(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##asakawa##DELIM##
Allowing players to use this mount in battlegrounds would be problematic, to say the least. This will completely negate the safe location of the blacksmith in Arathi Basin, surrounded by water. The worst thing is that every player will need to get this mount to be viable in certain PvP situations, regardless of their interest in either PvP or PvE.
It's a cool idea though, and I'm looking forward to getting one of these myself :)
Edit: and it turns out I was right! Too bad I got downvoted so many times xD
Until we get a 3D model;
Yeah, needless to say,
(out of date)
Until we get a 3D model;
Yeah, needless to say,
Reminds me of that one level that I hated so much on Super Mario 64...
EDIT: I guess no on here has played Super Mario 64 O_o I am referring to a level named "Wet-Dry World" in which "Skeeters" would glide across the top of the water with the sole purpose of making your life a living hell.
This mount goes out to all the people who have to put up with lazy Deathknights who don't use Path of Frost. Especially during Arathi Basin. :)
This mount was changed to no longer work in Battlegrounds. I swear, Blizz must really not like Alliance.(##RESPBREAK##)12##DELIM##Sas148##DELIM##
This Strider is cool, but it is surely an imposter!
But I am the real Strider, fortunately. I am Aragorn son of Arathorn; and if by life or death I can save you, I will.”
... The Real Strider
After some research and brain storming, here is my best guess at how to obtain this mount:
This mount requires that you are exalted with
and will cost 5,000g not including discounts. It will be sold by the Quartermaster
. Here are some discounts that I can think of:
Angler's Exalted discount: -1,000g
It looks like we will be getting this mount for about 3,500g. Please keep in mind that MoP is still in Beta so the price and how to obtain it is subject to change. I will keep this post updated as the beta progresses.
Here are the other mounts:
now states "This mount can walk on water in non-battleground areas." If this is true for that color, then it will be true for the other colors. =(

Sold by Nat Pagle, The Anglers Quartermaster, at the Anglers Wharf in Krasarang Wilds. Requires Exalted with The Anglers. Base cost (before rep/perk reductions) 5,000 gold (

Would be cool if you could actually fish without having to dismount it.
look out horde! you are no longer the first people to blacksmith when we are missing a death knight >=D
God, I soooooo want this mount! :D I can't wait until MoP hits live! :P
If this mount is allowed in Battlegrounds, it will feel mandatory to many players who min/max. I know I wouldn't be caught dead without one.
Please let me fish on it :O
Worth noting: this mount requires Artisan Riding currently, so if you don't have it and you want the mount, you should save up now.
Finally, a reliable method of beating the Horde to BS in Arathi Basin.
I'm curious whether or not this mount will cause you to receive falling damage when falling into water. Granted it doesn't happen often while mounted, it might be something to keep in mind.
One of five mounts which are reward for gaining Exalted with The Anglers, here are all of them
Looks like we will be able to fish from it, since it is fishing faction. (It is just my opinion)
Hope this helps.
EDIT: We can't...... well that's sad
This mount can be use in the old continents (Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms, Northrend and Outland)?
As of right now...this is the only Water Strider mount in the game...the other 4 disappeared to parts unknown.
are in-game, through Exalted reputation with The Anglers in Krasarang Wilds.
The other four colors of this mount, though available from the same vendor during beta, are currently unavailable.
Make sure to /mountspecial on this. One of the most interesting I have seen yet!
Sorry for maybe asking stupid question but can someone tell me if this can be mounted on shore or it's strictly only water?
I realised its use - alts! While it's virtually useless for any lv 90 character with flying (as virtually any non-instanced place you could use it, you could use a flying mount and achieve the same effect), for pre-60 Azeroth characters, and pre-90 toons in Pandaria the ability to walk on water is actually very handy at times.
So make it your go-to mount for any alts you level.
This mount has a bug. Dismounting this always interrupts any casts.
Casting mining is interrupted when I click a mining node with riding this.
This bug is so annoying.
I can confirm that it can be casted on the GROUND!
I was unsure about if it can be casted on ground after reading comments here, so here is the confirmation.
Received it today after 3-4 weeks of grinding The Anglers reputation. So awesome. One of the best ground mounts I have ever had!
The only bug that it seems to have is that it disrupts casts after dismounting. Note that at the Arenas or so. But not really a big deal.
I haven't seen this in any of the other posts so I thought I would mention that if you swim while on this mount you can breath underwater. I'm not sure if this is a glitch or intended since the mount itself and the mount icon do not mention underwater breathing.
I love this mount so much and use it constantly on my alts. I am constantly hitting the Spacebar (/mountspecial) while on it. Probably one of my favorite ground mounts other than my
I love the special emote for it:)
This is an INCREDIBLY useful mount to have in your account. Low level alts needing to go through Thousand Needles will adore this mount.
I have found sometimes it likes to 'fall through' the water at certain points but otherwise it works pretty well.
My only gripe is that it does tend to make 'bug noises' a lot to the point I end up turning sound off for a bit.
This really is, in my mind, the best none flying mount you can get.
1 - Its got such a unique design. Not another horse or wolf or kodo remake, its a freaking giant bug, that stands up straight when you do mount special, so its adorable
2 - This mount is the best mount for anyone leveling. Before learning flying skill, 1-60, this cuts down time a lot, since we can run across bodies of water in zones like tanaris or thousend needles, and the water walking doesn't break when you take a hit either.
3 - Did I mention its a giant bug?
doesnt work in undercity goop
This is, without a doubt, the BEST ground mount you can have on your account. Not only does it look awesome and has a funny /mountspecial, the fact it walks over water (even if you take damage) means while leveling any character before you can actually fly, nothing else compares to it.
Even shamans and dks with there water walking ability breaks on damage, but this little guy just keeps going.
Received a minor nerf in 5.3 - if you take damage while on water, you drop down into the water and cannot get back above the water without dismounting/remounting. Even running onto land and back onto the water will not put you back on top.
If you get hit riding on this mount it loses the ability to walk on water. This is annoying
Sound files were added for its /mountspecial animation in Patch 5.4, making it even more adorable.
"This mount can walk on water in non-battleground areas." The mount walks on water in Wintergrasp during the Wintergrasp battle. It's not a battleground like the others but it's considered a battleground if you read the text from this quest
("Win a Wintergrasp battleground match and return to Tactical Officer Abrahmis in Wintergrasp").
This mount will give us a cool edge if Blizzard really goes through with the *no mount in Draenor until 6.1* scenario. Let's hope they won't deactivate it's waterwalking in the new continent!
Apologies if this was already noted, but if you're a HUNTER, you don't need to grind rep to get this mount! Go the lake area north of "Temple of the Red Crane" and located a Felstrider (Water strider) & Tame it. Then activate "Surface Trot" (specific action of pet), and you're now able to walk on water.
Note if you're wanting this to get the big shark on Timeless Island, make sure you have "Aspect of the Cheetah" on so you can keep up with it.
I don't know if it's already noted but
if you fall while mounted
, then you can
Anyway, this is one of the most usefull mounts outhere and a must have for everyone's collection, got it today and it's amazing :)).
I, sometimes, have noticed myself swimming through the water instead of walking on top of it. Jumping up doesn't always work...
Simply dismount and remount. It should work again.
One of the first action I took was to make it jump over a log. It does an hilarious pose instead of jumping. It may be my new comic favorite since Ruthers the bad yak.
Be careful when you drop onto water riding this mount.
It's like dropping onto hard ground.
Too bad they changed it so it un-mounts you if you get damage... they should have called this a "spell" then, rather than a "mount" :/
Why? Because it's BLUE!
Probably one of the most useful mounts in the game. Walking on water will save you time and corpse walks with this puppy.
Great mount +.+
Some information about the water walking aspect of this mount.
The way Waterwalking is handled ingame when dealing with waterwalking effects like the water strider Hunter pet, the Shaman Lakestrider glyph and this mount is that when an invisible aura is applied to you that gives the waterwalking effect.
This effect is functionally equivalent to a water walking potion, but expires once the mechanic that provides water walking expires.
It also expires when you take direct damage during combat.
Taking damage from a lingering periodic damage effect outside of combat also removes the aura.
Taking falling damage does not remove the hidden aura, not even during combat.
If the hidden aura is removed, it will not be reapplied until you deactivate the triggering aura and reactivate it according to the rules of the effect.
The hidden aura can be activated both on the land and in the water, so there's no need to come out of the water to reactivate it.
If begin to rain, the mount will fly?
In Legion, the waterwalking effect will only works in Pandaria.
This is likely to make the Fishing Artifact appealing as it has a waterwalking perk.
Unless you desperately need Water Walking on an alt, use a Water Walking Mount macro, e.g.:
#showtooltip mount name here
/cast Water Walking
/use mount name here
Strider water walking breaks on damage same as water walking buff. Also this macro will recast Water Walking when you dismount.
This mount is good to use in Legion, where flying mounts are disabled for a while. Since the area is called the Broken Isles, there is lots of water.
Went to grind for this on/off once I got to Draenor and got tired of swimming. Though now, looks like I'll probably have flight within a day or two of getting this mount. :D
Just curious though, can you fish from this mount? I noticed in Draenor, I can mine from a mount, and in one area I can get a wolf and fight from the mount which is handy... hoping I can fish from the mount in Draenor, and really hoping I can fish in other areas as well.
Any fishing abilities?
Now that this mount has returned to prominence in patch 7.0 can anyone recommend a way to mute the footsteps of this critter on land?
I find the rapid ticking of its footsteps really annoying :/
The closest addon I have found,
Mute Annoying WoW Sounds
, has been abandoned and no longer seems viable as far as I can tell. =(
This is the default mount for me in Legion leveling, especially Azsuna. So much water zones mitigated. It's also very good for Suramar city. It's easy to avoid guards when you're riding it in the canals.
apparently in legion if you run over water and you get attack or in combat your waterwalking thing from the mount gets removed and you start swimming
i honestly think it's so stupid and it really angers a lot of people including me
the guide for the video below will show how to get the rep to get to best friend with nat pagle in MOP
a like, comment & subscribe would help to improve my channel
thanks Welsh Gaming :)
Anyone else can't get it to jump back on the water surface since patch 7.1 if you end up having to remount it when in the water? mounting it on land then running onto the water works fine but as soon as i been in the water it will not get back on the surface (same goes for the crimson one)
Has anyone else found in patch 7.1 if you mount this will in the water it doesn't walk on water any more?
So glad I did the grind for this mount, using it saves a lot of time in Suramar City
Stealth nerf in 7.3, mounting at the surface of water by using "favourite mounts" doesn't bring this one up automatically. Really annoying, because now you need it on your bars.
Does somebody know how many timewalking badges you need to get Anglers from neutral to exalted?
Since you can't fly in the launch of BFA,Now is a good time to go get this mount. I got this few months back and it took about 2 weeks to get by doing the 3 dailies every day. I also did the nat pagle fish turn in too and think that rewards little bit of anglers rep too.
is this still obtainable after the profession squish in 8.0?
Logged onto an old character of mine from Pandara, that only did a few of the dailies and did just enough fishing to get to 450 and get Skills to Pay the Bills achievement, and found that somehow i was now Exalted with the Anglers. Not sure what happened there, but no complaints as i just waltzed into Karsarang Wilds for the first time in years and bought the mount for BFA.
i had this one on my other Account now i have a secound completly new account and want to farm this mount again there a few guides around but what confuses me is that all of them say i have to build up the garnison and get the lvl 3 fishing shack to actualy get nat paggle and obtain the water strider at some point and i really really dont want tof arm up a garnison (kinda seems stupod that u have to do this old stuff wich takes ages to get this at this time) i dont mind the anglers dailys farming the rep but garnison :/ so am i wrong with that and can farm it without garnison or do i really need to do that first
Does every character need to be exhalted with the anglers to use this mount, or only the one who purchases the mount initially?
While grinding for this mount, Tame a water strider that you'll find a plenty in the river near by. They have a special ability to let you walk on water for some time... and your mount too !
Not has convenient as the mount, but a good meanwhile.
I want to thank the person who posted to be sure your track trivial quests is checked. I looked off & on for ages to get the rep with Anglers, and never thought to turn trivial quest tracking on. Got my mount almost immediately once that was on! Thank you!
from Mists of Pandaria Timewalking event is arguably the easiest way to get a water walking mount if you have a bunch of TW badges across alts. MoP TW recurs roughly every three months. This is what effort it takes to get this using either just one time and daily quests, or
, the MoP TW vendor, or a combination of the two.
and no quests requires 5,250
for the water strider.
Doing the quests and dailies without Timewalking rep takes roughly 12 days total. If you hate WoW's fishing mechanic like I do just doing the 3 non-fishing dailies will take you 21 days.
Doing all six dailies which give 2,550 rep with Anglers will save you a little over 400 TW badges each day.
A couple of notes
Remember to buy
immediately when you become revered with Anglers, cutting required rep for Revered to Exalted from 21,000 down to 10,500.
The first TW instance each cycle gives 500 TW badges from the quest item for completion.

The only non-repeatable quests for Anglers rep are in Dread Wastes at Soggy's Gambit on the coast, require a dozen or more quests to unlock, then only give 1,550 rep total which seems to not be worth the time to unlock.

RIP Azure water strider 2010 - 2019
Someone wanted to say just to use the 40 gold and that 40 gold was "nothing." Whether 40 gold is "nothing" or not. The mount and its utility was already paid for. By the subscription time paid, by the reputation farming, by the original gold paid and it is repugnant that now we have to re-buy something that was already paid for. It's like going to a restaurant, ordering a burger and paying for it and when you're half way done eating they take your plate away and tell you you have to pay them again to finish your meal. If you don't want to pay again you have to work in the kitchen or leave without what you already paid for. So the amount is a moot point. It's the "we're taking away this thing for ..... reasons" that is outraging. It also makes you wonder what else they plan to take because it no longer suits them. And I was fine with the whole "we're gating flying for new regions so you explore." I get that. We didn't even get flying until level 60 anyway. I just kind of figure it's an evolution of that concept but taking away the water walking ability to make you buy it again is border-line extortion. We have enough gold-sinks with toys, pets, transmog, crafting/professions and collector mounts. This was un-necessary. If they are worried about the strider becoming the Alpha and Omega of all mounts they can just lock it's ability to benefit from other mount equipment. Then it's only benefit is water walking. Like the tundra's benefit is vendors. Or the golem having herb farming. And if they are concerned about people liking it...why? Shouldn't that be a good thing? If you don't like it, don't use it. That's your choice. Don't like others using it? Look away and buy a potion or equipment for your OWN mount! Just because some people think the strider is ugly and they don't like it doesn't mean they should be making that choice for others. Especially when those people took the time, effort and spent their money and gold on it and its ability. I like the wind strider. Other's think it's ugly. I use it almost exclusively. Are they going to take it away? I paid for it in a more direct way but money is money. If they are willing to take one thing you've paid for away, where does it end? There were also already other items that covered water walking. And even class abilities that enabled it. The strider's water walking wasn't the problem. The problem is that after you get it and add it to your mount journal you had it's utility on all your toons FOR "FREE." *Free being for your other toons. You still paid for it as explained aboved.* And as a kicker, I can't even use the 40 gold Nat Pagle token on the character that originally grinded the reputation sicne they are still lvl 95. So my options for that toon are potions, re-roll, or the 45k shoes until level 100. Then I would have to re-buy something I've already bought to have it on that single toon and repeat on into infinity and never be able to equip any other trait or pay for it again and again and again. It's an exploitative void and was shot down 3 years ago and should have remained dead. And if you like mount equipment that's fine, use it, enjoy it. But the water strider should be left alone for all the reasons above.
4 Legs strider.. It's interesting
Any FTP folks out there stuck at level 20 can save the time I wasted. This mount requires level 35 in order to learn it.
