As long as it lasts longer than 2 minutes. Would fix the major flaw of the potion of illusion
If it's a fun transformation and doesn't have the 5 min active/30 min cooldown that most transformation items have, this could be an item that sells decently.
I bet you turn into the new bunny model.
AKA "Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde" potion:
the instruction label reads:
1. hide behind bushes
2. wait for unsuspecting victim(s) to walk by - beatiful maidens are especially suited for this purpose
3. drink it
4. jump out in front of victim(s) and /roar
5. watch the victims wet themselves
6. use patented and creepy "mouhahahahaha" laugh
*bonus multiplier : especially effective in duskwood during nighttime
Looks like we'll see a lot of Garrosh Hellscream in MoP if I'm right......*shudders*
edit: Rats, Blizzard changed it. It used to say "Transforms the imbiber into a hideous beast."
''Transforms the imbiber into a hideous beast.''
So we transform into Fandral Staghelm? Spooky.
No longer Monstrous Potion. That's been scrapped in favour of "Darkwater Potion" - an updated swiftness potion + swim speed potion combined with a Jinyu shapeshift.
As nice as that is I am EXTREMELY dissapointed that we're not getting monstrous potion anymore. (*It should be clarified that this was originally "Monstrous Potion" that would transform you into a random monster for 2 minutes.*)
As for the Darkwater Potion itself; it is quite costly to make:
= 1 potion
So it's x90 Spinefish to make one full stack of Darkwater Potion. These fish can be gotten from pools in Inkgill Mere, Dread Wastes or other Sha-infested areas.
Yes- There are only a few places the spinefish can be caught. It seems to me that it takes longer to catch the spinefish than most anything else... To make one potion it requires 4.5 spinefish...My fishing is at 419- add 20 for my pole and 75 for the bright baubles- It still takes annoyingly long just to fish up one. Even at that level I'm fishing up garbage and other fish.
Been trying to sell these for the last few days- first I tried 99g a pop- I figured it wouldn't sell and it didn't... 75...None. 50...No buyers...Being real with myself I know noones gunna drop 50g a potion, but to sell it for less is kind of a bummer due to the time I put into getting the mats and making them.
Throwing very rough numbers out there- I spend 2 hours fishing up spinefish and making them...120 min. Yield? Lets say on the conservative end I catch 54 spinefish and make 12 pots. Thats a pot every 10 min, Most people don't wanna drop any kind of money on a pot so I'm considering just using these for private consumption.
According to the spell page, this also gives underwater breathing:
Effect #3 Apply Aura: Underwater Breathing
useful potion for flag-carriers in Twin Peaks. The swim speed bonus will allow you to move nearly twice as fast as a mounted opponent. Since you can do this at the relative obscurity of the bottom of the creek, it makes it much easier to slip past the inevitable midfield brawl.
I have tested it several times as a Horde pally to
reasonable (although somewhat diminished)
effect. The effect lasts
seconds - long enough to allow you to swim from underneath the midfield bridge
to the base of the Horde drawbridge (or equivalent distance). I recommend using it with anti-CC and anti-snare cooldowns for maximum effect. If used opportunistically, you can go a
very quickly before anyone realises how far you've gone.
It could also be useful in Arathi Basin for an assault on Stables from Blacksmith, or vice-versa.
Edit: The duration of this potion's effect has been nerfed from fifteen seconds to eight seconds in Warlords of Draenor. You may be better off using
now depending upon your circumstances.
Updated for patch 5.4.8:
=> 3 oil per potion
=> 1.5 fish per oil
each pot costs 4.5x
, for example if you want a stack:
* 4.5 = 90x
=> 4 and a half stacks of fish for a stack of potions
Or if you have some fish and want to know how many pots you'll get from it, for example if you have a stack:
/ 4.5 = 4x
=> may give you spare oil and/or fish, in this case 2 fish
Basically, not to get spares, use fish in
multiples of 9
(2 pots); for your convenience that's:
9 / 18 / 27 / 36 / 45 / 54 / 63 / 72 / 81 / 90
will proc only from
follows the more expected behavior of proccing from
It also gives
, although not mentioned in the tooltip.
It breaks stealth upon use.
It's the only thing
are used for (
never went live).
It's at long last an update and improvement over Alchemy's previous
Combined effects = more power: since those previous potions share the 1 min CD, the combination of both speed effects is quite effective. This makes for a very versatile item, also including an unique model modifier (with a low CD).
This makes its demand/price reasonably high, especially for PvP. In MoP it was also used for Challenge Mode dungeons, although invisibility potions were favored.
There is still a use for
since it has the advantage of not breaking stealth and being possibly cheaper/easier to get.
These stack with Nitro Boosts. Sonic the Jinyu, man.
im depressed to see the price is heavy for these. human greed never seeces to amaze meh
Confirmed to drop from Shiny Pile of Refuse from oondasta
Thanks, now i want to be a Jinyu rogue.
Dropped me from
at Darkmoon Faire.
EDIT: I haven't found how to display items properly yet. Sorry about that.
Base swim: 73% of movement speed swimming.
: 101% movement speed swimming.
: 202% movement speed swimming.
They do stack.
buff id is 105707 (for weakauras, etc.).
Also, I tested SWIM speeds for Druids (all naked fwiw):
-- 67.5% base swim speed (all Druid forms except Aquatic)
swim speed (i.e., swim speed increased 100%)
-- 202.5% swim speed with
buff (i.e., base swim speed increased 200% --> see Other Note #1 below)
1) Item use kicks you out of all Druid forms and into the form of a jinyu, and the
buff disappears if you shift back into Aquatic or any other Druid form.
2) Item use allows you to breathe underwater for as long as the buff persists and restores breath just like
tl;dr for Druids with
: The swimming benefits of
are always superior to
because movement speed is faster and breathing is the same. For Druids at least, this potion functions exactly the same as
except for the appearance. For Druids with
