Great drops rate! easy to farm for Frost pot!
A LOT of drops off the level 37 / 36 Water Elementals on the Island in STV just off the northern coast. in an hour i got like 2 or 3 stacks. As well a Azuredeep Shards which vendor nicely and Enchanted Water.
I'm currently farming these for frost pots to bring to Kharazan, and after having tried Arathi Highlands, I highly recommend the Lesser Water Elementals of Stranglethorn Vale. No, the droprate isn't higher pound per pound, but the mobs are a lot more plentiful. If you're a lvl 70 and you're gonna farm these, you will be spending at least 5 minutes waiting in between spawns in Arathi, whereas the waiting time in Stranglethorn is shorter, and the action more plentiful. A more pleasant and productive grind.
Currently I'm getting between 1-6 elemental waters per "spawn wave" (No pun intended) with an average waiting time of about 2 minutes. Very fast.
I farmed these at the camp of Cresting Exiles in Arathi for about 45 minutes and came out with 12. I found that each time you clear the camp you get about one drop. So one Elemental Water every four or five minutes.
Best place is definitely at STV. they keep respawning fairly quickly once you're done clearing it. It is an island located northwest of STV. (20,23). About 10% drop rate.
Also the western coast of Feralas, loads of fast spawning elementals there, but these are also the target of a quest picked up in the area, so depending on the time of day, could get a bit crowded.
this may sound a bit ulikely, but i got 2 of the right after each other in 1K needles. doing the "sacred flame" quest i killed alot of the water elementals. now im gonna try push the pricing for them as high ass i can get them :P
I've found that the fastest way to obtain a few of these is actually through fishing the patches of elemental water in Azshara. If nobody else happens to be fishing in this area, which is pretty often considering how few people fish for profit (especially in lower level areas), you'll probably catch 10-20 elemental waters in 45 minutes or so. I got really lucky and picked up 21 in half an hour, but I was on a 70 druid for added swimming speed.
for more information. Just keep in mind that the article was written pre-BC and is a bit outdated, but the spawn points and such are still accurate.
There is a slight problem with the comments on this item...Elemental Water...these do not drop from STV....those are Enchanted Water, not Elemental water, which this page is about. Elemental Waters drop from either Arathi Highlands as mentioned above or they drop from fishing in Azshara. Enchanted water drops frequently in STV on that island but not elemental water.
I assure you, Elemental water does drop off the mobs mentioned in STV.
cleared the entire STV island (20 or so elementals) and got 1 drop. Good call guys. Slow respawns also.
20 drops in less than an hour. Most of them dropped in the first half hour. Fairly quick respawn also.
I cleared the island off the coast of northern STV 6 times and it yielded:
9 Elemental Water
149 Enchanted Water
32 Azuredeep Shards
Then I cleared another 3 times and got 13 Elemental Water.
of the full island of elementals in STV i got 3-6 elem waters(respwn like 5min), in arathi i got 1-2 and respawn sux.
Burned some rested xp on the island in STV:
lv36, 71 kills
elemental water 4 (6%)
enchanted water 67 (95%)
lv 37, 70 kills
elemental water 4 (6%)
enchanted water 85 (122%)
Also got 47 azuredeep shards, 1 green, 1 alchemy recipe (detect invis - nice bonus find) and 1 smith plans (shadow crescent).
The island in STV is good indeed. I was able to get about 3 elemental waters per wave. Very good for leveling jewelcrafting. Aquamarine signets...
If your planning on leveling Jewlcrafting, its a good Idea to farm the water elementals in Arathi while doing your iron mining cycle.
By the time I got to mithril I already had plenty of these to not have to worry about farming them.
as a feral druid, all I can say is booooring! I've taken to fairie firing them into the water to kill them in seal ... or sometimes i'll use up all my mana and just hurricane them all. just lately i've been killing them in travel form. anything to not have to wait for the respawn. bring a friend...get a beer or have a tv close by. you'll need it if you don't want your brain to turn to mush.
The droprate is horrendous for this thing ... I farmed it in STV at the isle everyone was talking about, got 1 drop in 3 waves and I was the only one there! Incredibly annoying.
I farmed those on my 76 unholy DK for leveling Jewelcrafting.
Killing all the mobs the island in STV (~20 mobs) yielded 1, maybe 2 flasks of elemental water. It took me about an hour to farm the 20 bottles I needed.
19,23 in STV on the little island.
I got 4 (for my multibox shamen quests) in about 15 minutes
Contrary to the above posts, I had difficulties looting Elemental Waters from the STV Water Elementals (maybe bad luck). Tried Arathi, a bit better, but still dissapointing.
Then it came to my mind to try out the Water Elementals at Feralas beach. Well, that worked much better for me. So, if you are level 47+ you could try Feralas as well.
took me about 1:30h to get 4 on the STV island, /sigh
I recieved 12 in like 30 mins then after that I went for 1 hour with out seeing one. Then took me another 45 mins to get 8 more.
I was farming the STV location, and I know you could say "Unlucky" but it seems to be really common among others that farm this. Don't know why it is like this : /
edit: running total to get 20 was 2 hours and 15 mins
i found the water in thousand needles elementals
STV is a good area but at lvl 80 I wiped out the whole island and was waiting just as long for them to respawn, not to mention the droprate for me was low, though RNG never agreed with this toon.
so im typing here waiting on respawns...
best thing i found to do is to have 2 different toons, one in stv and one in arathi by the time you kill them youll have the other have respawns popped.
Also, these things drop pretty nicely at the Circle of East Binding just a touch northwest of Hammerfall in the Hinterlands.
It's easier to do it there than Gnomeregan since they respawn nicely.
7 farmed, 13 more to go.
It's pretty damned slow but I guess it's the fastest compared to 20g per off the AH. Boo.
Absolute terrible droprate. Somewhere around 20 mobs I started counting I am currently on 127, yes no exaggeration and I still haven't gotten one, I was getting 2-4 every wave, then it just stopped. They are like 20g each on my server since everyone and their mother seems to be leveling J/C.
I didn't have any problems with the drop rate over in Arathi. It took me all of maybe 30 min get all 10 that I needed. Perhapes I'm just lucky. <shrug>
Took me about 45-60 min. to get enough Elemental Water to level my Jewelcrafting from 217-225 by making
yepp , the little island is really a great place to farm , went there and in less then 10 minutes already got 5 or more. thank you for info^^
From my experience it is pointless fishing for these. As other users say the island off The Savage Coast in Stranglethorn Vale is full of Lesser Water Elementals that give you them much faster. Although I haven't tried the west coast of Feralas yet.
I was able to collect 6 Elemental Waters on the island northwest of the coast in Stranglethorn Vale - also got a locked box (need to find someone to pick the lock for me so can't say at this time what's in it, but it was a nice surprise anyway) and more Enchanted Water than I'd ever expected to find; just shy of 100 Enchanted Waters. I spent a little over an hour taking down the Water Elementals to get these results with my level 46 pally. Of note: Gasdan is also on this island & he transforms into a larger level 40 water Elemental. Not once did he drop Elemental Water in the time I was farming. I also spent the time getting up my 2-handed mace skills with the new mace I'd bought in the AH earlier; went from 60 to 228 for 2-handed mace skill. Bonus! ;0)
I've found fishing in Azshara to be my preferred way of gathering these.
There are 6 spawns of the elemental water, sadly I don't have a co-ords addon, however gathermate should be able to import the nodes in for you if you have that.
And of course it was much quicker for me because i was a shaman, mounted water walking is ftw for getting between the nodes lol.
I just farmed alot of these on my 80 warlock to level my jewelcrafting.
On average I got one every 4th minute while farming the elementals in STV.
The best place to farm this is in Azshara, fishing them u get 3 to 5 per node.
I see people recommend STV instead of Arathi, but I took around 20 waves on the island northwest in STV. Got 12 elemental water bottles. Not very high drop-rate there measured up to how many mobs it is over there. I had more luck in arathi at the circle of east binding. In two waves i gathered 8 bottles. Pretty much what i needed. It could be just good luck for once.
Although I think it all depends on your luck..
These seem to drop well from Ice Avatars in Frostwhisper Gorge in Winterspring.
I got 2 elemental water's from killing 30
Ice Avatars in Winterspring drop this fairly often, they are by far one of the best places to find these, they also often drop Essence of Water
5% drop rate sounds OK until you realise you've just killed 65 Elementals, using up mana potions etc in order to gain 3 freakin needed drop items! That was my outcome from farming the elementals on the island in STV. And I was also alone there so no one else was getting drops.
And don't get me started on how bloody low the drop rate is for Spider's Silk - that percentage rate is just plain BS. For crying out loud, you'd think it cost WOW actual money to increase the drops and give us more!
Since CATA, I find that WOW is becoming a forced group/guild game. Crafting anything requires multiple items from many professions which is a pain - you either have to try to pay expensive money from the AH or you have to be part of a guild to trade. Instead of being able to play and enjoy myself, I spend hours and hours just trying to get materials needed to craft.
As of right now, I just went to Frost Whisper Gorge and killed 4 Ice Avatars at got 2 Elemental Waters. Took all of 3 minutes at 85.
Just now I did 2 runs through frostwhisper gorge killing Ice Avatars and my results are as follows.
20 x Inert elemental shard
10 x Inert elemental piece
6 x Elemental water
4 x Essence of water
3 x Globe of water
This has by far made it the best place for me to farm elemental water as fishing in Azshara for an hour I got none and at Stranglethorn Vale I killed over 100 elementals and only got 2 elemental water.
Frostwhisper gorge FTW!
I guess i'm a noob and don't know how to reply to comments on here, but thanks to everyone who said Frostwhisper Gorge. It's an awesome place to farm Elemental Water! And i'm pretty sure by the time you kill the last one the ones at the beginning start re spawning. (Unless your not looting them)
I was just farming
s in the swamp of sorrows where these seem to have a great drop rate After 35 minutes
I had looted:
this was as of 4.3
I went to Swamp of Sorrows just to get a few for my Jewelcrafting. It turns out that if you go to the Southwest corner, below Splinterspear Junction there are a lot of Purespring Elementals, and the drop rate is only 9%, but they re spawn so quickly it doesn't make a difference. I was there for like 10-15 min and I got 5.
Hopefully this helps and I hope you guys get lucky like I did.
As of Pandaria, my suggestion would be to go to the southwest corner of Swamp of Sorrows. There are tons of Purespring elementals there. Farming them on my 90 death knight, with my 15% moving speed bonus, I was able to farm in a steady circle, with some of the elementals respawning on top of themselves. Within 15 minutes (maybe less), I walked away with:
2x Elemental Water
2x Water Globe
1x Essence of Water
2x greens to AH or D/E, whichever you prefer.
I hope this helps! Happy hunting.
Unfortunately this item is NOT placeable in any
, unlike the
. Which really frustrated me, as I like to have similar materials stored together (i.e. Eternal Air/Earth/Fire/etc. and these Elemental mats) and neat, tidy organized banks.
it fall from the water elementals on the little isle in stranglethrone.. took me 10 mins to get 15
After 20 minutes in Swamp of Sorrows, the purewater area, I picked up 8 elemental water and 7globe of water. It was a very quick re-spawn of the water elementals. Drop rate for both items was about 1 in 8.
Go to Northern Stranglethorn for these and don't look back.
Best rate I've seen.
Farmed this mob for 30 minutes, here is an idea of what you'll get post 6.2 WOD patch
I killed roughly 70 in about 30 minutes in Silithus, north by northwest, in other words the top left corner.
This was tested before patch 7.3.5. Was farming Sunken Temple for leather, but decided to try killing the Purespring Elemental for a bit since I needed a couple of waters for crafting. In a 21 minute test (which I was probably not doing very efficiently after all the instance runs), I got: 11 Globe of Water, 5 Essence of Water and 9 Elemental Water. The nice thing about these is the respawn time is very quick. Basically, I was going up one side and then back down the middle of the pond. I zig-zagged to get a few mobs close to the water, but basically the ones I had first killed were already back up. Nice smallish area to farm with quick respawns.
If you are farming for
I farmed 250 of these, netting me;
+ a few greens and 9g 95s worth of trash.
