Is Blizzard be putting a troll drum on archeolagy for us ta play?
Oh yeah, mon! Me be on a drum roll!
*Places the drum between his legs*
I keel two dwaves in da morning *Tum Tum*...
I keel two dwaves at night *Tum Tum*...
I keel two dwaves in da afteanoon *Tum Tum*...
And then i feel alright!
*Tum Tum* I keel two dwaves at times of peace...
*Tum Tum* and two at times of war.
I keel two dwaves *Tum Tum*, before i keel two dwaves *Tum Tum*...
And then i keel two moah! *TUM TUM*
This plus arcanite reaper and we're starting a band!
Excuse me for the poor quality I found, but this item reminds me of
"Bang on the drum all day"
for some reason!
One of the rare tier items in Troll Archaeology.
Requires 100 Troll Archaeology Fragments.
Common tier Troll items:
Zandalari Voodoo Doll
Fetish of Hir'eek
Eerie Hakkari Idol
Lizard Foot Charm
Jade Asp with Ruby Eyes
Feathered Gold Earring
Bracelet of Jade and Coins
Drakkari Sacrificial Knife
Tooth with Gold Filling
Fine Bloodscalp Dinnerware
Rare tier Troll items:
Zin'rokh, Destroyer of Worlds
Can barely hear it, but you get some Troll drum sounds when you click on it. Had to listen in Everlook where no music was playing.
Completed as my 20th rare, the "sound" this item plays is linked to the Music options. So if your Sound is On but Music is Off, you won't be able to hear it.
I tested this by going to Stormwind with Music ON, Sound OFF. Clicking the item caused the grand Stormwind theme to fade and the drums to begin. Doing the same thing with Music OFF and Sound ON did nothing. Doing this with Sound and Music ON the drums were (as mentioned above) difficult to hear.
Not one of the better Archaeology items (and I think we can all agree that many Archaeology items are lackluster to begin with).
I had mine bug in a much more interesting way. It was either after finding it or using it that I noticed I had mail...from the Alterac Valley Battlemaster. Now I'm thinking that same thing as you (A-whaaaaaaaaaAAAAA!). So I check my mail, and I have a standard note from the Battlemaster about a mark of honor I missed. It would be weird enough at this point that I received a letter about a battleground I haven't been in for months, with a currency that's not longer used. But instead of a mark, I got another war drum.
Then my head exploded.
Upon using this, it changed my background music to what sounded like a faint drumming, but after paying more attention, the volume picks up after a minute, and if I'm not mistaken, it's the main theme from the warcraft 3 title screen.
So I'm trying to complete archaeology rare #20 and I'm assembling a common troll artifact and hoping that Jin'rokh finally comes up. I see the words Troll - Rare and then Haunted War Drum and my heart sinks. Thanks Blizz. I can barely contain my excitement. QQ over.
Music must both be enabled to hear the song. That's all you need to know.
Can other's hear this? I tie all of my on-use archaeology doodads to one big show off macro.
Can barely hear it. Seems to play a random selection of music, everytime you click it. Not as cool as it could've been. It should've allowed us to play drums by making a single sound per mouse click.
After I obtained it I got pretty disappointed that it played no sound, but later that day i was bored in orgrimmar and I put it down and I clicked it and troll themed music started playing instead of the normal orgrimmar music and it was pretty clear, same volume as the normal music, but according to the comments here am I the only one?
If you really love the tune you can macro it and play it when ever you want, when ever you want:
It will play on the master soundtrack so no worries having to turn on music if you do not usually have it on. Note that the music will overlap so do not spam it!
I was most disappointed as I was expecting something along the lines of what they do in Revantusk village (and other troll villages); simple (and
!) drumming sounds as you click it, maybe play it and a weapon swing animation until cancelled! Instead we get some epic music piece.
Just created it. Clicking on it makes a drum music sound, but sound is not very high in volume.
it starts with a set of rapid drums then music follows.
Just finished this myself, and right in the middle of Stormwind, it replaced the default music and played a Troll sounding background music instead. It works fine, and I think it's a nice little item that's just for fun.
(*gasp* FUN stuff, in a game! Blasphemy!)
Make sure you have your Music enabled. When you right click on the drum it plays a song.
CTRL + M enables and disables your music. Note that this is different than using the sound settings in your Options menu to simply increase or decrease volume. Enabling my music in this way allowed me to hear it loud and clear, as I could not prior to doing this. Hope it helps!
Have to admit I enjoyed reading the lore bit on this item in my archaeology journal...
The volume of the drum music appears to have been fixed recently.
I placed mine today, and even though I didn't have my music up very loud, I was able to hear the drumming and accompanying flute music without much difficulty.
I just got my drum today, But i got it at 250ish Arch. So, just wanted to show that some of the sites saying it is only found above 450 are wrong.
The music played by Haunted War Drum is actually an excerpt from the track "Revenge" as heard on the Braveheart soundtrack. ^_^
Like most archy items, this item could do with a little "extra", like a buff, or ghost trolls.
It's still fun, but sorta 'meh' aswell.
That is unless it has a "use" not discovered/mentioned here other then some druming for 30sec?
Don't touch my drumset
The best arch item ever. Tuvan Throat Singing ftw.
Just got my drum, I really like the music. However as others have stated it is unbearably low. I had to turn the music volume up to 100% to really enjoy it and even then I had to strain to hear it.
Definitely a great tune though, and I like the woodwinds along with it. Really jammin'!
It got me to 200 Archeology. And it was my second rare. I like the Voodoo Figurine, my first rare item, much better for long-term use, but this was interesting for the moment. The lore is good and thanks to all who gave advice about how to hear it, as I am one of those who have the music turned off.
I could not hear the drums when I clicked on them, so I copied the macro from below. It was great music!
This is what it reads:
Long ago. the most dedicated of troll war drummers would allow themselves to be flayed alive in order to provide the hide for their precious instruments. While a troll's incredible natural regeneration allowed one to survive this grueling ordeal, it was a long and excruciating process, that drove many mad with pain, it is said that if the drummer were to be slain while playing the instrument, his spirit would pass into it...
Do those who like the unique melody towards the second half, that is called "Tuvan Throat Singing". You can Google it for more information.
lasts about 3 min and 30 seconds
Hearing it is the one thing that will make a Troll stand up straight.
Visual effect of toy.
