This is a great money maker. I suppose the market is mostly hard-core raiders, lazy people, or just those that can't get ahold of the recipe (on Alliance side, since the recipe is a pretty rare drop from the Barrens).

At the moment, stacks are going for around 28g. If you end up with an uneven stack, split it into 1's and 5's, and increase the markup slightly. Often people will buy just a few, get addicted, and buy full stacks.

Heh heh, so true. I got the recipe on my 11 rogue while killing some razormanes for the quest, I was in a party with someone else and asked if I could have it and got it.sent it to my level 13 hunter who was just starting on cooking. Lol, I made about 100-150 roasted boar meats getting skills up because I had a bunch of them sitting around for whenever I wanted to get skill up. Anyway, I got the recipe learned and now all I have to do is get fishing skill up to however high you have to have it to fish at the wailing caverns and start making money. Was kind of nice to get it because i'll be able to make money for mounts for all my characters. I would recomend farming the lower level razormanes (10-13 or whatever) because there is a fair amount of them in a spot and they are pretty fast respawns. Gl all who are farming.

Pricing depends on the server you play, they only go for about 40-50 s each on mine, but nonetheless if you are lucky enough for this to drop, i suggest you keep it, being able to make them is always great and fishing out the deviates isn't too bad, fish for an hour and you can probably get 2-3 stacks of them if you find a school or two.

They also make great gifts, especially for people who have never had them b4.

The most common price for one of them seems to be around 50s. It keeps me surprised to see how many players don't know these, and the effect it causes (especially on Alliance side).

For a low level character they are a considerable income source, since a stack of those can be easily farmed within about 15 minutes just by circling the middle oasis in the Barrens and fishing the pools (the middle oasis is the largest one, with two separate bodies of water, so generally you can keep fishing the respawns there without having to leave for one of the other two lakes).

Even at higher levels, when there might be more fun ways to get money fast, fishing those is still the best way to spend your time if you want to skill up Fishing (the rate of skill increase does not depend on the level of the zone you're fishing, so these fairly low level fishes give the same amount of skill ups as, for example, Outland fishes).

I love these items, I tend to have at least 10 of them on me at a time. If you have to do any long grinds, it is nice to use them and get some different attack and cast animations to mix it up a bit and get rid of some of the mind numbingness of long grinds. That is assuming you're not a human, or a druid, since shapeshifting removes the buff.

Also, unless it has been changed recently, you can use Noggenfogger to get small, and then use a Savory Deviate Delight to be a small ninja/pirate.

Additionally, using Dartol's Rod of Transformation gets rid of the buff, and I'm fairly sure using an Orb of Deception or getting the skeleton buff from Noggenfogger removes it as well.

Patches and Patches ago, The Savory Deviate Delight didn't only turn you into a ninja or pirate... It also had some other effects.

* (60 min) Yaaarrrr (turns you into a pirate)
* (60 min) Flip Out (turns you into a ninja)
* (10 sec) Oops (turns you into a pile of goo)
* (2 min) Rapid Cast
* (10 min) Cowardice (causes 5sec "Run Away" fear)
* (5 min) Fake Death

I was playing my draenie mage (female) in gruul's lair, was using noggen fogger pots and deviate fish for a laugh. I had a skeleton form on at the time and used a fish and was changed into a MALE pirate. These fish are suppose to be based off the gender of your character, but apparently there is a way to get around it. Sadly I have not been able to replicate it again, I guess I just need to find the right combination of nogg and fish. If anyone happens to know how to get it to work every time please say something!

Funny story;

Back when BWL first opened, the door after Vaelastrasz would not open after he was killed (lol@blizzard test raiding team), so we sent out a dozen fishers to gather up a few hundred deviates. An hour later, we handed them out to people to eat in mass until they got the fear effect, and force themselves through the doorway. We got half the guild through, then a GM started teleporting us back through the gate one by one, and scolded us.

The best part was the GM's reply when we asked if we could get our fish back:

On Noggenfogger Elixir it says the use is: Drink Me. and for Savory Deviate Delight its: Eat Me.

I think this is refering to Alice in Wonderland were the cookie has Eat Me on it and it makes her bigger and the milk has Drink Me on it and turns her back to normal.

If you don't want to walk all of the way to the instance portal, you can also fish them out of the water with the 2 deviate lurkers. Most people sell them for 1g each, but they go faster at 80s. I try to sell in stacks of 5

Any shapeshifting will remove the effects, unfortunately :(

On the other side, if you can get the chance to buy the recipe for around 50 gold, you should really do this if you're a lower level. It is a huge chunk of money at that level but it WILL pay off. I earned the 45 gold I payed back in 1 day, with a 30 gold profit on top of it. Fishing the deviate fish isn't too bad either if you're willing to do next to nothing for a while. Bring a friend to have a chat to pass the time.

If you have a Male Character hating how it looks I found two ways on how to turn into a Female Ninja/Pirate Deviate.

First you must have done the quest chain to turn into the blue vrykul women in Brunnhildar Village

Once you are there just use a Savory Deviate Delight and Bam, You're a female Pirate/Ninja.

Drink enough Pygmy Oils to turn into a Female Gnome.

Eat a Savory Deviate Delight and you're a female Pirate/Ninja.

If you're a female character, and don't like your animations/looks of yourself, you can turn into a Human Male pirate/ninja easily by doing one of the following things:

Go to Shadowmoon Valley, there, head to Dragonmaw Fortress.
If you've done the chain, you should turn into a Red Dragonmaw orc.
When you've turned into an orc, simply eat a Savory Deviate Delight to enjoy your human male form.
I have a human Female Paladin and I personally like more the animations of a Human Male :)

While under the effect of the Dwarf Form, simply eat a Savory Deviate Delight.

Interesting fact: If u eat a Savory Deviate Delight (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=6657) while u have the Dancing Rune Weapon affect on, it will copy the same effect and might transform into a ninja or a pirate.

EDIT:As of Patch 3.1, this will not work, due to a change making the rune weapon ability only copying moves thats solely for damage :( bugger....

Flip out buff is Possibly a reference to Real Ultimate Power - a popular joke about ninjas (assasin).

Using Pygmy Oil directly before using Savory Deviate Delight may result in your Ninja having a black waist sash. I've included a screenshot submission to show what I mean. I'm not sure if it is visible to other players, or if it can happen with the Yaaarrrr! buff.

It does look pretty cool. Ironically makes the human character look less effeminate, if that's possible.

It seems that you can now hop on a flight path bird and mount when you're shapeshifted to Ninja form.

Haven't tested for land mount or pirates but it'll probably be the same :D

Does anyone know if the graphics from the pants of the male pirate costume are used by any player-wearable pants? I'm trying to put a suit together, but can't find any matching pants.

Don't know if this is mentioned before. But if you're a druid and you're on The Culling Of Stratholme, we usually only see the human CoS model if we were on caster form. We still gonna be in bear form/cat form/tree form/moonkin form if we change to that form.

If u still want to be a human CoS model in bear form/cat form/tree form/moonkin form, before you change to that form. eat one Savory Deviate Delight to change into the pirate or ninja human model. and then when you're in that pirate/ninja model. change to any shapeshift form you like, either it's bear form/cat form/tree form/moonkin form. and you gonna be in normal CoS human model, but you're actually in a bear form/cat form/tree form/moonkin form.

I tried that on my druid in 3.2.2, and it works :)

I found something fun to do with these: if a male toon eats this at the Vrykul village in storm peaks that, after getting far enough into a chain, gives your toon a female disguise, the ninja/pirate costume will be female instead of the normal male. Even after leaving the village the gender does not change! So, here is the plan:

1. Go to the vrykul village mentioned above and eat the savory deviate delight.
2. Que for random dungeon.
3. Get around halfway through the dungeon and remove the disguise in a break between fights.
4. Laugh if anyone observant in the group notices that you are no longer a female pirate/ninja and are now a male <insert race here>.

It's pretty hilarious if someone notices, especially on some of the bulkier races. (ie Troll, Orc, and Tauren)

Another fun fact: this works with ANY disguise that transforms the player into a playable race (ie Darkspear Pride) Have fun!

Not sure if its blind luck or, perhaps the drop rate has slightly increased for the recipe. In a 2 hours time frame of questing in the southern barrens on a level 34 toon, I was somehow able to get 3 drops of the recipe. Sold all for about 500 - 1000 gold per recipe on my server

I briefly investigated creating a Ninja Transmog set after 4.3 was released. Unfortunately, I was stymied at the very start as there isn't a black facemask that matches the one used by Ninja (though the Sunroc Mask and the Clefthoof Hide Mask are both comparable color shifts).

Deviate Fish are easily farmable in the oases (plural of oasis :P) of the Northern Barrens, with the recipe for Savory Deviate Delight being common and people loving this item, this is a good way for lower level mains to make some gold.

One thing many people fail to take note of with savory deviate delight is that the transformations are more than cosmetic.

The pirate form has increased swim speed, the skeleton form has waterbreathing for the duration of the transformation and the ninja form, unless things have changed; has improved stealth.

I have gathered the items for a Flipped Out Transmog.

The only issue is that the Flipped Out transformation uses both the 灰白夹克 and 斥候外套 at the same time.

I've looked and still can not find a leather chest that has the combined graphic of the two chest.

But still looks good.

If you use Elixir of Wandering Spirits before using this item, you will then transform into whichever gender you become from the Elixir.

Also, using Burgy Blackheart's Handsome Hat before using this will enable you to take on the male form of the transformation.
