lol great flavour text
Yea, I don't know, it looks like a pretty decent dress to me... perhaps I am simply a Highborne in disguise?
I don't think it looks half bad. Fairly nice stats too.
One of the rare tier items in Night Elf Archaeology.
Requires 100 Night Elf Archaeology Fragments.

Cloak Clasp with Antlers
Hairpin of Silver and Malachite
Delicate Music Box
Chest of Tiny Glass Animals
Cracked Crystal Vial
Silver Scroll Case
Scepter of Xavius
String of Small Pink Pearls
Necklace with Elune Pendant
Carcanet of the Hundred Magi
Rare tier Night Elf items:
Highborne Soul Mirror
Druid and Priest Statue Set
Queen Azshara's Dressing Gown
Bones of Transformation
Tyrande's Favorite Doll
Kaldorei Wind Chimes
I think this dress is fabulous
Like a few of the above posters, I think the dress looks very awesome, poor fashion sense my two-toed troll foot!
I put on my Queen Azshara's Dressing Gown and wizard hat
I received this rare with an Archaeology level of 400, uses 100 shards and shows 3 slots for scrolls available.
This project also has three keystone slots, making it quite quick to complete as long as you can get hold of some Highborne Scrolls.
I see this being used more for the healing sets rather than a damage one as you could most likely use
However, if you already have it you could save some time.
100 fragments needed.
3 scroll slots.
Received mine at 285 skill.
Got the opportunity to get this at 365
Got it today while leveling Archeology , will post a pic in a few moments
Why are people comparing Archaeology gear to other gear?
Especially stuff that drops in AQ40.
"Dude, you get that new Archaeology robe?"
"Nah, I gots an AQ40 raid tonight. Hoping to get the one off of Fankriss, cuz it's gooder"
This find was unlocked by my level 85 druid at skill level 226. It was the first rare Night Elf artifact I found.
Unlocked by my 85 Tauren Druid at Archaeology skill level 250, and like with Larethorn, it was the first rare NE artifact that I found, though third in total.
Just so people are aware. Looking at some sites that claim this can only be learned after 450 skill lvl are wrong.
I learnt this at 280 and managed to finish it by 330. I can confirm it takes 100 fragments to solve and you are able to use upto 3 scrolls.
Not sent it to my Priest yet but she is only lvl 50 so it will sit in the bank for a while.
P.S. One thing that puzzles me on Archeology is that they are calling (epic (purple titled items)) rares which kind of strays away from the whole rare is blue epic is purple substance of wow. Anyone know a reason for this ?
got it with skill 247.
got at lvl 235 gave 15 skill points to 250. required 100 fragments with 3 scroll slots.
This just popped up as my next archaeology rare artifact. I am at level 291 archaeology, and can also confirm it takes 100 fragments with the use of 3 highborne scrolls with it.
So far I have completed 3 rare artifacts total, and 11 common Night Elf artifacts.
Figure i'll just send it to my lowbie mage :P
Got this at 250 archaeology.
Well, my 80 mage can wear this for a "stand around in org vanity set", but probably not very useful even for an alt. The increased stats by decreasing the level requirement isn't nearly as attractive as that 10% xp boost.
Make all the BtA arch items scalable then I'll think about it.
Just learned at lvl 245.
225-240 pop for solving it.
Now that they lowered the required level to 51, this item has become a lot better. It's actually worth getting the Archaeology BoA rare projects now, because they have shifted from "lame, you get better stuff from quests in BC/Wrath/Cata" to "damn, this is a very, very nice piece of gear for at least 7 levels!".
Im glad this has better stats than the clothy heirloom at lvl 51, else this would be worthless for the most part
Going by the Cata wallpaper of Azshara, for this to fit her new form she might need a few extra sleeves adding...
Say yes to the dress!
I used to have this and I thought it scaled with level. Yet after patch 4.0.6 happened, I put this on my warlock and it didn't. Am I going crazy or is this now worthless for leveling 80-85?
Can guys wear this without, well, you know?
Yea, I don't know, it looks like a pretty decent dress to me... perhaps I am simply a Highborne in disguise?
The rumors of Blizzard's poor fashion sense seem to be true...
Sorry to ask but does this level with you? Or just a random dress?
Nope. it doesnt
Interesting piece of equipment. It does lack the 10% experience bonus of
but it makes up for it in haste and intellect. Depending on your class, you may favor critical rating over haste rating, but I think that may be negligible at this level. For an average +20 intellect for the ~12 levels this beats the heirloom, I think I'd rather have that bigger mana pool and those bigger heals in my instances.
I'm a rogue so I do not need it. It is BS
Night Elf rare solve at level 250 for me.
If you had a hold of this before the level drop, you could have popped a 10 all stats enchant on it to make it even better than BoA robes.
I know I did, leveling a warlock to wear it, see how good it is.
I would take a robe that had no stats at all, but gave +10% xp over this any day. I would probably take a robe that dropped all your stats by 10% but still gave +10% xp over this. 10%= 4 bars per level you don't have to grind. I'm only hanging onto this QADG in case Bliz changes it.
I'm currently leveling a mage (at lvl 56 right now) and I just got this at 275 arch. I for one think this gown was
worth the effort. Granted, if you're at lvl 85 and are just filling in the blanks on your archaeology it's not worth much, but for a lvl 51-60 mage it's an awesome find.
People keep saying this sucks for leveling but I disagree.
Heirlooms grant 10% XP bonus on both kills and quest hand-ins. I would suggest that you get a lot more XP from the quest hand-ins than you do for killing mobs.
What I did while leveling my mage from 51-58 was wear this dress and I was killing mobs about 30% quicker. Then when I went to hand in quests, I put my heirloom chest on.
Assuming the 10% counts for a successful random dungeon completion then swap out this dress for the heirloom before the final boss kill.
Simpletons, nobody will understand my beauty and grace when I transmogrify this robe onto my main gear.
Ok let's see on Azshara's gear in 4.3 patch...
Oh my god...
Actually looks lovely ~
Looks exactly like valorous frostfire robe. Didnt see anyone point that out yet but i noticed it when i was trying on different sets.
Levels 51-65 this is better than the heirloom
Tattered Dreadmist Robe
One great thing about
is that you can use high level enchants on it. For example, my level 51 Priest applied a Wrath of the Lich King level chest enchantment to Queen Azshara’s Gown. So at level 51, my Priest can have an LK chant like
附魔胸甲 - 强力属性
附魔胸甲 - 优异法力
. You cannot put these higher level enchants, which have item level restrictions, on an item like
. Putting an LK chant on the gown, “Will not bind it to you”. It will still be account bound and transferable to your other characters and movable cross faction. However, the LK level enchant will be grayed out and not active until that character hits level 50. Which is fine because the item cannot be equipped until level 51.
As of 5.4 level restrictions on enchantments have been removed and they now scale with the level of your character.
Purple Looks good with everything!
i am working towards mine now, got it at 220 archeology...seems that you can go for a long while getting nothing, then out of the blue (pun intended) you can get rare tier item after rare tier item..i got this off the back of the haunted war drum and at the same time, the soul mirror.
If any are wondering at what point the heirloom robe outdoes this one in intellect, the answer is level 68 (44 int on the heirloom to 41 for this piece). If you enchant this with the +10 stats, the level will be a bit higher.
In other words, this robe is the best piece a caster can wear from level 51 to 68. And when I say best I mean spell power; whether one wants the extra xp from the heirloom is another issue, and even then, you can always wear this while questing and switch to the heirloom when turning quests in.
For transmogrifying - shoulders like
fit quite well with this gown. I also like
for its colours (
view gown + shoulders + belt
This is the exact same texture as
, down to the sleeve model.
I like this dress, it's purple, and a bit longer than your average wind chime or nightelf artifact.
(58 NE Solves, 6 rares - only doll left.)
15 Archaeology points for solving this rare item.
I have more toons than Warner Bros... Having this drop once, great. Should I ever level another alt, all the better. Only being 100 artifacts makes me shake it off faster, but be it known that these have a flaw. Meaning, BOA yet you can get it on several of your archeologists. Just got my 2nd one and feeling kinda "not so happy" about. Maybe in the future blizz will make it so it's a one time find, per account. Then again, I don't know anyone that has as many toons as me (no one) so it may be good for them should they want to dual box level on the recruit a friend promo's. Just my thoughts, but figured I'd mention this 2nd possibility.
For transmoggers, pick out some of the
sets and test different items that will accent this incredible chest piece. Tried a Rich Purple Silk Shirt on and it didn't show. As to weapons, I got lucky and the
Chelley's Staff of Dark Mending
with its purple haze looks great. Here are some other
many of which have some form of purple in them.
Works pretty nice with this transmog.
Here's the picture:

Now shows up in Wardrobe if collected on a character.
If you're looking for a clean mog to combine with this robe, I'd go with hidden shoulders (as of the Legion pre-patch) and:
Karabor Sage Cord
on the waist slot - even though it's not a minimal one, I think it has low impact on the robe's design.
Exiled Dabbler's Gloves
- my go-to "clean hands" gloves.
- POSSIBLY obtainable during the 7.0.3 Legion prepatch - If it's too white for you, try the somewhat more complex
Khadgar's Hood of Conquest (T9 helm)
- never did like this one but it seems to somehow fit in with this dress. Of course, the cleanest look is with a hidden headpiece. :-)

Anyone knows the LEATHER robe variation similar to this one? I used to wear it during the early transmog times for my NE druid (before the stupid collections arrived),and now I'm back and I can't transmog into the item I've crafted AND can wear. :(
