" first its oohing and ahhing and then its running and screaming "
Got this mount today. my skill is at 300, so atleast it is obtainable with that skill level.
Got it today with 225 archaeology.
Just saying: we dont care you got it. We care about HOW you got it.
If someone comes showing off with
Swift Razzashi Raptor
, just mount up this fella and say "So what ? Im riding with that things ancestor."
Takes 100 fossil fragments to complete, and as there are no fossil keystones, you'll be reliant on just surveying to complete this guy.
It also seems as if the proc rate is completely random. If you're lucky, you might be able to get it at a low level of Archaeology.
also, keystones are used to speed up the process of gathering fragments, only certain solves let you use keystones, fossils on the other hand don't have any. just got to dig up your 100 fossil fragments. get diggin, you will most likely get the mount before you max out archaeology if you get alot of fossil fragments.
Apparently pieces can repeat before you finish, My skill is 300 Ive covered only 8 of the fossil category and just received a repeat. Have not found pet or mount.
I'll take a picture of it in shadow form momentarily.
There is something unusual about these raptor bones.
Whenever you look away, they seem to move slightly on their own.
Just got this at 430 Archaeology after crafting a common Fossil item. I already have the pet as well, not sure if he is required for the mount or not. More than likely you'll get him along the way.
Does anybody know what the lowest level and lowest Archaeology skill level this can be acquired?
no minimum skill requirement
for this to appear. Some very lucky people have gotten this as their first fossil project.
However, it is rare and may not appear until much later; when it pops up for you is just luck. Most people seem to get it after 225. You also may have to make a lot of duplicate common fossil artifacts for it to proc.
P.S Wowhead comments are not your personal blog. We don't really need to know when you got it! :D
There are a few comments that got negged in oblivion here that are actually useful.
The mount does not seem to require 225 Archaeology skill to obtain.
Several comments point to having 200-220 Archaeology and yet having obtained the mount. A friend on mine on the MMO-Champion IRC Channel confirmed that he was under 225 when -completed- his Raptor.
<Thoorium> same date, but check the time I completed the raptor
<Thoorium> impossible that I could have done 225, discovered and completed the raptor in 1hour
If anyone knows how to pull achievement times from WoW Armory (WoWProgress does it for world firsts, so it has to be possible), then please do so on
Specifically, his Expert in Archaeology achievement.
That would provide solid proof that he did not have 225 Archaeology when obtaining the mount, and give evidence that the mount probably requires either 150 or 200 Archaeology.
I didn't get this in my queue until I had completed every other fossil project. I only lacked the kraken tentacle as my last common, and once I completed that, the mount was the very next project that popped up. I don't know if not having a complete journal before had anything to do with it or not (I doubt it).
Edit: Repetitiveness is repetitive. And now fixed.
That's why it's a secondary profession. Everyone can learn it, so there is no need to make it BoE.
I have a level 60 twink on an account without any expansions, can I get this mount with the skilllevel I can aquire and the stuff needed in Kalimdor/Eastern?
It became solvable for me at 485. However, I'd already been fortunate to get the Fossilized Hatchling much earlier, so I can't complain at all.
Also, this mount sounds something like a raptor from Jurassic Park (not exactly, mind you, but it made me think of the movie anyway).
You can theoretically start this artifact as soon as you train level 1 Archaeology. I've read reports of people getting it as their second artifact.
Insofar as Archaeology is concerned, if your level is high enough to find the artifacts for X race (in the cace of fossils - level 1), then you can find every artifact associated with that race - rare and common alike. Yes, I'm referring to fossils as a race.
I got mine my skeleraptor mount started 350's.
I've also read reports that this mount has four different skins, and that you get one of the four randomly. Can anybody confirm this?
I know solving the commons gives 5 skill ups, but how many skill ups do rares like this give?
I just got this after getting the
and now I look forward to Blizz nerfing the mounting limitation while affected by
- it would be awesome to be a skeleton, riding a dino skeleton and having jr dino skeletonn by your side :)
are there a keystone for fossil ?
ok .. i'm at 525 arch, I am making some of the commons for the third time now. I still haven't seen the raptor mount.
Am I doing something wrong or is it just a total crap shoot as to what you get for the next item?
It's even lower than that. I got this as my archaeology leveled to 271.
it is one of the coolset mount i WOW you can have it in 250
is mine bugged or am i the unluckiest person in wow because I got to 525 got the hatchling but still no raptor mount and it just keeps makin me do duplicate fossils ive already done, thiers not enough fossil sights for me to keep doin this all day i only find a site every 30 dif sites i check and its bummin me out i wanna get this mount alrdy
Ok, so this is my observation; whenever i get a rare i usually get through a couple of the other races artifacts before i have enough pieces to complete the rare and while I'm putting the rare together there are no other rare fossils that spawn in my queue to complete until i complete the rare that first spawned. I have also had back to back rares when I complete a large amount of commons in between.
Finally got mine shortly after 525 archeology, it was my 7th rare project and my 53 over all so don't think you will get this right away just because a handful of people get lucky with the projects
Got mine at 380 skill level.
But mind that we should look at how many fossil projects we have completed before getting this one.
This because, unless you focus on a certain category, you usually progress in all fields, putting efforts in a single field only when a rare pop up.
I have completed my 12th fossil project (rare mini-raptor vanity pet among them) before the mount popped up.
Bit disappointed this isn't bind to account. I was looking forward to sending this to my new priest alt, I have no use for this as a worgen with a fairly large mount collection.
-OMG its *!@#ing alive!
-hm... now i'll ride it"
im a bit confused. uhmm,
i have solved like 2
and each time i got an artifact.
am i supposed to keep each artifact? or what?
and uhmm, idk. i think i just need the whole process explained to me.
please and thank you.
Move over, vampire horse on fire. The vampire skeleton dinosaur is here.
How many people got the final fossil fragment for this, created the mount, learned it, mounted it, then instantly hearthed? Hordes upon hordes i tell ya.
This was my second fossil task. I don't believe their is a level restriction as my archeology level was somewhere in the 50 range. Luck was there for me.
Best way to farm this would be to keep your skill between 100-375 so you don't get unwanted digsites and stay on Eastern Kingdoms. Even though Kalimdor and EK have the same number of fossil digs, EK has less total dig sites, so the chances of fossil sites turning up are higher there than on Kal.
Got mine at skill level ~300 as my 20th fossil project, 90th total project.
I got this after getting to about 330 archeology without getting a single rare. Remember, if you get this, you will have to farm ALL 100 due to there being no keystones or the such for fossils. Logically, fossils would not have any keystones.
Also I must be really lucky because after completing this craft, I received the raptor pet as the next puzzle to solve.
GL guys, I hope you get this.
logically speaking, leveling the profession has to have a meaning and however it seems random, there should be a pattern of rares appearing while at level 100 and at level 525.
that being said, im assuming that rares pop up slightly more frequently as you level up, so i saved my fossils until 525. i solved projects only when i hit the 200 cap, so that i can farm more pieces. in the end, it appeared fairly soon after starting to solve them at a normal pace.
so briefly, yes, it seems to be random, but pushing your chances at level 100 is far less logical than doing it at 525. thats what i did and im happy with the result. besides, there is no difference between riding the mount 5 days later, given the hypothesis that it's more likely to mount it if i keep it for the last.
edit: oh i forgot to mention that i of course got the mount :p, and the pet. we are one big anorexic reptile family.
Perfect Troll DK mount XD
If any of you readers out there are going to farm this, I hope you have A LOT of time on your hands. You need to be really high with this prof for anything short of a miracle to see this artifact show up. It takes FOREVER to skill this prof up. If you think, oh, I'll just pick this up, come get my cool mount, and be on my way, lalala, think again. This is the longest prof grind I've ever seen, no doubt made to wastes dozens of hours of player's time to increase sub duration.
I can't say much to help except... don't use your fossils on junk unless you are capping those at 200. There's no point. You just waste them on 1-5g vendor trash if at a low skill lvl. Secondly, if you are high in the prof, stick to the right continent, it has a lot more fossil sites. The left is almost entirely night elf sites. Nothing else I can say... good luck? I wouldn't use fossils any sooner than 300 skill(Unless capping at 200 fossils, don't waste on the cap). I've read how some get it sooner since it's basically pure random... but ya. Unless you're the type to win the lottery... I don't recommend it.
To get the skill up easier, the only other thing you can do is never solve an artifact without keystones if they are able to be used on a solution. This will save you a great deal of fragments, which means less time farming them up. If you don't have any, or don't have enough, go buy them outa the AH. Keystones on my realm run for 75g each. If you can't afford it, then you shouldn't even have this prof. Profit wise it's a wretched waste. Although the raptor is free, you will have spent thousands of gold on it in all the wasted time sunk working towards it that you "could" have spent doing something actually profitable. Just an FYI.
Lowest possible level is about 50 as you level up by gathering the shards needed for this, so a MINIMUM of 50 is requirement.
Open the door, get on the floor
i was just thinking are u completely sure to get this mount during your archaology or is it just some hwo will get it?
Same model as Living Fossil
Just keep completing solves for the other races. The more rares you complete for them, the more digsites for the ones you don't have will pop up.
My raptor mount solve popped at 425, finally a bit of good luck in this game. Now to find those 100 artifacts...
Just for anyone feeling frustrated that they didn't see this proc yet in their book - I didn't get this until skill level 477 after I had completed both the fossilized raptor pet and the troll voodoo doll pet along with 4 other rares. Don't give up if you've maxed out your skill and still haven't found it yet. I honestly thought I wasn't going to see it before I hit max and 98% of my arch was spent in EK where there are a ton of fossil sites though RNG seemed to heavily favor troll for me.
So keep digging, not all of us get it at a low level.
Doesn't seem to be as "rare" as most of the archaeology rares. I've done archaeology on two characters and both have gotten this mount early on.
The first one got this before he reached 525, although I don't remember when exactly, and my second character got it at 450. On my second toon, I've spent nearly all of my time in the Eastern Kingdoms, as there appears to be more fossil sites (although I could be wrong on this) and it's easy to work your way up (or down) the continent and "push" sites as you go. What I did discover is that I solved 30 Troll, 18 Dwarf and only 13 Fossil before I finally got it. So, in a nutshell, you're going to be getting a lot more Troll and Dwarf solves if you stick in the Eastern Kingdoms.
best mount for an undead shadowpriest ^^
Does anyone know what the chances are of getting it?
and can anything be done to improve them?
This finally showed up for me at skill 480. I think once you are digging in Kalimdor exclusively to get Tol'vir dig spots to appear, you chances to obtain this are higher because by default you are digging more fossil sites just to get the Tol'vir ones to appear.
At lower levels I tried digging only fossil sites for the mount and it wasn't until I was in Kalimdor only for Tol'vir spots that I was chain solving fossil artifacts when this appeared.
Most of the comments here are speculation about what lvl you have to be in order to get the mount. I can put that discussion to rest.
Visit your character's profile on Blizzard's web site. Go to professions, and then archaeology. It lists every single thing you can get with the profession and actually lists what the minimum profession level is in order to get the item.
The minimum profession level required for the Fossilized Raptor mount is
. When it pops up for you is just luck.
The Official Mount of Troll DKs
Have been farming this mount for absolutely ages on my main. I have full arch skill, have found both rare fossil pets, the ancient amber, and 24 common fossils. I am getting extremely frustrated now! Everyone I've talked to seems to have gotten the mount within 10 fossil completions.
So just a warning, might take you ages to get too :(
got this mount at 450 skill level ... worth it though =)
I've wanted this so i reached 280 in archeaology, but i didn't get it im 525 now. anyone knows if anything got changed?
I got this after my 25'th fossil solve, just for your information. Besides that, it HAS been blue-confirmed that the chance it procs is 100 % random. A relatively often order though is, Ancient Amber -> Fozziled Hatchling -> Pterrordax Hatchling -> Fozziled Raptor.
It required 100 Fossil fragments.
Cheers, and good luck farming it.
got the pet on my 19th then right after got the mount
all in all think im doing alright, 2 days leveling it i have gotten 11 rares
i just got mine, haunted war drum, and clockwork gnome all in one night. oh and all happened right after i became a grandmaster of arch. bow.
if youre stil asking how to get this mount just keep fkn digging. no QQ
I have been bored lately on WOW. Decided to level up Archeology. I was at level 370 when I saw the fossilized raptor artifact. I thought it was a companion until I solved the artifact and realized it was a mount. Rare items that I have recieved so far in Fossil tab are amber, fossilzed hatchling, and fossilized raptor. I have recieved six rare artifacts in the two days I have leveled 1-370. I must be lucky with this profession.
At any point in time there are four available dig sites on each continent that you have the skill level for. You are looking for fossil dig sites, which only occur on Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms (not Northrend). If you don't see any fossil dig sites then dig the ones you do see until a fossil dig site appears.
On Kalimdor there are 60 dig sites, 14 of which are fossil digsites. Ie 23% of the dig sites on Kalimdor are fossil dig sites.
In the Eastern Kingdoms there are 55 dig sites 13 of which are fossil dog sites. Ie 24% of dig sites in the Eastern Kingdoms are fossil dig sites.
These figures are rounded and there is actually only 0.3% difference between them. So either continent is just as good as the other, realistically.
Went from 1-525 in Archeolog way before this mount dropped for me. Took me about 30 hours of grinding to get.
Highly reccomend Easter Kingdoms, as you often will find yourself with alot of Fossil digsites in Western and Eastern Plaguelands.
BEST MOUNT EVAAAR!
Just got it :) After 37hrs non-stop farming on my 33-solve :D
And I mean Kalimdor is the best place for farming this + u may get the blue battle tank from Tol'vir ;o
Undead raptors? WE ARE ALL DOOMED!
I have been doing Archaeology for quite some time on my level 24 twink (Gwyndolyn of Executus), and today this project popped up for her. It will be her 9th Archaeology rare, and she is shooting for the title for obtaining ten. Her skill cannot go past 225, and the only digsites she can get are Night Elf, Dwarf, and Fossil. I'm just disappointed I can't use the mount! :P
It...squeals like a pig?
Just got it to que at 40 completed and 37 completed for Scepter
Got mine after 33 Solves,i didn't even farm it, i was going for the Marine tank :)

This popped for me today while I was capped at 300 skill level.
My third Fossil rare after
at around 140 and
also at 300 cap. There was one common artifact between the hatching and the mount :D
My sixth rare artifact overall!
I started archaeology 2 days ago and already capped out at 600 and still HAVEN'T gotten this mount from fossil digging. Grrrr
i got his as my second rare first one was trapt in amber
i got This as my second rare in fossil my first was trapt in amber thou it was my 11 rare artifact
I got to 600 skill in archeology, i kept searching for 15 hours or so, still no mount, im so pissed >.< found amber, hatchling and im about to solve the other companion now, fossil digsites are so rare for me, but i guess blizzard felt my pain and the next day i found ghostcrawler after camping for about 10 seconds and no earlier attempt. :)
$%^& this mount and this proffesion! too much RNG :(
Got to 450 and this was the first fossil I ever dug up. I apparently need to go buy a lottery ticket.
I finally got this mount last night. It was one of the main reasons I leveled Archy and I couldn't be happier.
Since it is account-wide, I'm definately going to be switching over my 'land' mounts to this fine specimen of bones. I know it's not an epic achievement or even all that special anymore - but it is STILL an awesome mount.
Got this one today, sadly at 525 skill while i was farming archaeology in Duskwood. Funny thing is that while I was farming this,a gnome mage showed up, he was around level 20 and needed help with a quest, so i decided to help him. I have put free for all so I could farm, and after we finished his quest, after digging up the last fragments, the solve for the raptor came up. So that little gnome was like a lucky charm, esspecialy considering the fact that i hate gnomes ( no offence you little guys) :P I gave him 500 gold for the "luck" :) This comment ain't really helpful, but I'm bored, and eh, its Valentine's day lol
Happy downrating to you too :)
After 4 long months of doing Archaeology, I got this mount tonight!
NOTE 2 ALL:
I kept doing all the other Archaeology (mainly in Pandaria, either Mantid, Pandaren or Mogu) & when I completed them I crated the artifacts & then went to The Seat of Knowledge in Mogushan's Palace in Pandaria & bought Crate of Fossil Archaeology Fragments from the lil dwarf guy (Brann Bronzebeard) & kept completing my Fossil Archaeology till today, when I FINALLY completed the fragments to the Fossilized Raptor!
(It was the "lazy" way of doing things but I got tired of flying all over Kalimdor then zepplin-ing it 2 the Eastern Kingdom, flying all over there & then flying all over Pandaria. IMO, it's easier to just stay in Pandaria.)
Good luck grinding!
has the same model as the
who roam the Whelgar's Excavation Site in Wetlands, but it's not
Fossil Archaeology Fragments
that's surveyed, it's
Dwarf Archaeology Fragments
I was so exited today. This mount have been bugging me for quite some time now, but earlier today I discovered that my next Fossil find would be
and of course I was happy as hell.
Anyways, just when I solved that puzzle I was surprised. Not just surprised, but I mean - Happy! Oh, the joy! I discovered that my next fossil would be this raptor (At first I thought it was another hatchling but nop.. - Soon I'll get the mount.)
I was however even more happy by the time I got my
by an accident.
Oh well, now I'll farm for the rest of my fossil's to hatch this mount!
Edit: I'm a level 88 rogue with 600 in Archeology. :)
This Mount Has The Same Model As Bloodlord Mandokir's Raptor Ohgan In The 4.1 Zul'gurub.
At 600 skill, after buying a ton of crates of fossil pieces and still had not got it.
Then, I completed the achievement called "It's always the last place you look."
The next fossil project after the completion of that achievement was the mount. So, my suggest is complete the achievement and then see if the next fossil project that becomes available is the mount as that is what finally worked for me.
As an Undead I feel strangely at home riding this lil fella.
ive maxed out my archaeology trying to find this god damn thing, i just got the hatchling, ive been doing this for 3 days straight and its pissin me off
Here's the info a level 1 Archaeologist needs to get started finding your own Fossilized Raptor:
Fossil dig sites seem to be rarer than the other types of dig sites, with Night Elf being the most popular
so that you know what types of fragments each dig site will give you. The Archy addon will also track the locations of successful digs to make your life easier later on.
Since Fossil fragments only show up on Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms you should only dig on those two continents.
Level up your Archaeology by digging only non-fossil sites until you get to level 75. This way once you hit the level requirement you have a high number of Fossil dig sites.
Helpful hint: You can also get a
, so you may want to dig those with pritority over Night Elf artifacts
With any luck you'll get the Fossilized Raptor artifact within the first couple solves.
Maxed archeology to 600 in one day from 12.00-20.00 then i was just completing fossil artifacts when it dropped 5 mins after i maxed it :p
I used a few addons and it was really fun. (Archy and Archeo helper)
Got this mount started on 8/22/2013. I had to go through all of these before it came up:
devilsaur tooth (most recent)
twisted ammonite shell
beautiful preserved fern
vicious ancient fish
strange velvet work
ancient shark jaws
shard of petrified wood
imprint of a kraken tentacle
feathered raptor arm
insect in amber
600 Archaeology done 100% through Eastern Kingdoms. Good luck!
EDIT: Also, looking through my Arch journal, I'm also working on a rare artifact from the Nerubians, so you can most certainly work on two rares at the same time. Not sure if people still thought you couldn't.
I've been leveling Archaeology while waiting in LFR Queues (As a DPS, that's about 45-60min wait times). This mount came up as my 6th fossil artifact. Ancient Amber was my 3rd fossil artifact. I did nothing special other than dig in the closest dig site to me. I don't think there is any strategy to "get" it. It just happens.
Just got this great mount after farming every fossil bed I could find, and sadly it does NOT count toward any of the mount achieves like
"We're Going to Need More Saddles." :(
UPDATE: After logging onto alts with class mounts (warlock & death knight) the Raptor mount registered in the count! :D I recommend trying this if your counter is off.
600 skill and still haven't found it. It seems to be completely random with no relation to archaeology skill.
What do you do if you get a second one?
"Hey guys only 75 Archaeology skill and 2nd drop"... Are you kidding me 600 Archaeology skill and been farming since Cataclysm, gotten every single pet from fossils but nope, This mount would fit my troll DK perfect to...
On a side note are fossil dig sites supposed to be rare? Because I literally have to farm for an hour just to get ONE
From the new mount descriptions:
"Legends tell of a spell placed upon a hunting raptor who dared to snarl at young Tyrande Whisperwind as she bathed in a jungle pool. The beast is cursed to wander Azeroth - until it apologizes."
This is a humorous reference to Tiresias, who stumbled upon Athena bathing and she struck him blind for seeing her nudity. He also got turned into a woman, but that's another story...
Pft... 85 solves for Fossils and over 200 Tol'vir and I still don't have either mount. What a load.
Got my today. Same week I started using
Feel so lucky ! 24 fossil solves :)
After i have been farming this for a while i am really starting to hate dwarfs and NE's. Like Have you guys just been every %^&*ing where on this god damn planet ...
I can finally ride the same mount as Leorajh :)
Didn't even know this was rare.. I started archeology yesterday and the pet dropped... After I completed the pet project, the Raptor mount was the next project up... RNG is nasty out cheeaa.. 😂😂😂
I was around 300 in skill, I was doing the popular method of building up your fossils until you get to max of 200 (I was sitting at 194) and had solved one, then a second, then a third, exhausting my build up. My next reward was the Raptor though. So I hope that helps someone else get theirs!
I would estimate I had done roughly 10-12 solves for Fossils, but I just got back from a good 5 month break.
Best of luck to fellow Mount Hunters, may the odds forever be in your favor!
After 26 Fossil Solves I got it! This process spanned over 6 months, but was just a few solves here and there.
All in all was worth my time and effort, was fun!
Re-posting a summary of an easy way to farm literally any Archaeology rare, originally posted by
on the Vial of the Sands recipe page (
Firstly, you must have an Archaeology skill of
600 or higher.
Secondly, you must hit
Exalted with the Lorewalkers
. Go and speak to
in the Seat of Wisdom on the top floor of Mogushan Palace, in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms.
(Note: You will know if you are eligible for the Lorewalkers quests by speaking to
and having the option to ask "How can I help the Lorewalkers?"
If you do not see the option, you will need to unlock the Reputation grinds of each Pandaria faction and then return.
When I unlocked it, I had Neutral with the following: Emperor Shaoshao, Golden Lotus, Order of the Cloud Serpent, Shado-Pan, August Celestials, Anglers, Tillers, and Klaxxi. The Tillers might not be necessary, but I'm not sure.)
Thirdly, you will need to
purchase the Mantid Artifact Hunter's Kit
for two Crated Artifacts. Both Quartermasters in the Seat of Knowledge sell these.
The Mantid Artifact Sonic Locator will make all newly spawned dig sites Mantid in origin.
to reset your dig sites, then farm away.
Fourth, crate the artifacts you dig up-- the Mantid sites will only spawn on one of two maps, and they are usually fairly clustered and small. You will collect crates very quickly.
Fifth, turn these crates in for the artifact pieces of your choice to the Dwarf guy in The Seat of Knowledge. I don't remember his name, but
he's an Archaeology trainer.
In this case, you'll want to load up on Fossil pieces.
Keep this going as long as you please, and you'll have your mount in no time. :)
Finally unlocked him at 574 archaeology! Worth it.
Fossilized Raptor and Fossilized Hatchling by Bubblechai
I just got this today. I farmed 204 restored artifacts, and I got it on my 4th solve. It wasn't my 3rd solve total. I solved like 20 solves total. I then got the Scepter after my 4th solve...about 75 total solves.. I'm left with 133 restored artifacts. I went overboard with the farming.
I feel bad for the people saying they had to solve 600+ . . . . ouch
DON'T GIVE UP!
Is it unusal or rather "unlucky" that my archeology skill is 601 and i still ahve not got this mount? *very sad face*
It's patch 7.2 and i can confirm the mount is real. After 600 points of archeology and a lot of time wasted farming in Kalimdor i decided to follow the lorewalker/mantid strategy. After days diggin' i got it but didnt had the courage to mount.
Some sleep right now..
Using the Lorewalker/Mantid method, I farmed for 5 hours, averaging about 25 restored artifact crates per hour. I was able to get my Fossilized Raptor mount after using 121 restored artifact crates to buy fossilized fragments. Now on to the Vial of the Sands!
I just got it using the Lorewalker/Mantid method. It took me 3-4 hours.
I finally got this mount today after about 7 months of on again off again farming. Level 600 , 140 Archaeology Achievement Points, 79 common artifact solves and 14 rare artifact finds.
It felt like I was never going to get the darn mount.
Well, I just clued in that I must buy fossil fragments to get this to drop. I will work on this after I get my recipe for Vial of Sands.
Is nobody going to mention it's hilarious flavor text?
my new "trick" i used to get this mount (and others i plan to get :p), is just focus on 1 BFA "island" like Kul'tiras or Zandalar, all 3 respective zone's digsites are all the same type, you can just keep going around Kul'tiras for example and farm Drust artifacts only :) .
no more hassle trying to regroup specific digsites for keeping the same type of artifacts going and finishing projects to 'box' and trade ;)
Got it at level 800. I've bought fragments in Pandaria (~300 fragments) and got it.
Got this today at 30 solves. The mantid method makes this a joke. This might be my favorite mount in the game...just so memorable looking. Love it!
Just got mine at 51 (recorded) attempts. I believe there would be more attempts accounted for as I grinded for it in the past but it's not calculated on the add on.
I started by grinding out fossil sites until I got my archaeology level up. Then I moved to Legion and BFA to where I got it maxed at 950.
I just crated my artifacts and bought fossil fragments from the archaeology vendor each time.
51st solve and acquired my raptor mount - worth noting I found the pets and other items before I got to the mount which came up last for me.
46 attempts for me. Good luck.
I got this mount on the 29th attempt. I actually farmed in Azsuna for fragments then bought the fossil boxes.
Here is why you should do this in Azsuna and
- You can make
just like you can in Pandaria.
- If you are not exalted with the
then this becomes even more evident (as you cannot scramble dig sites to spawn one near you and must fly a long distance).
- From the above, in Azsuna, all dig sites are within very short distance of each other and there are always 3 up at a time.
- All dig sites are Demonic, whereas in Pandaria they can be Mogu, Pandaren or Mantid. This makes solving a little more difficult in Pandaria. Even considering Demonic solves can sometimes be 140 or 180, having to potentially solve a 60, 50 and 50 makes it roughly equal (Except I believe the next two points also give Azsuna the advantage).
- Dig sites in Azsuna have a chance to spawn a
which drops anywhere from 10-20 fragments and can also drop
counts for 12 fragments. These can also be looted when doing general surveying in a dig site. When opening the Archaeology window and clicking on Demonic, there are slots at the bottom to put these in. They help solve things faster.
My personal experience after doing the Pandaria method is that the Azsuna method is infinitely faster. The only bias would be that I am not exalted with
on this character. So this
only apply to those who are also not exalted with them.
25 attempts for me while trying to get to 950 in Zandalar.
