After playing around with this glyph I am finding it rather lacklusture, perhaps if salvation was off GCD and maybe reduced the CD to 1 minute this would be a valuable glyph in PvP but at the moment it is just not what I hoped it to be (a slightly nerfed IBF).
But yeah, the main bad point is that salvation is on GCD (as with all paladins defensive abilities, unlike most other classes) and therefore fitting this into a high pressure fight is very difficult especially when trying to keep pressure on the opposing team.

I'm actually gonna try this as protection. I usually am a bit more than 20% over the second one in threath on bosses and on trash a lot more. Another shield wall to use anyone? Yes thanks!

Wings + Hand of Salvation anyone? :D
lol... I wouldn't recommend that, but it's an interesting idea if your bubble is down and you need to keep pushing without risking yourself too much.
I would however make the use of this spell into a macro so that you don't ever make the mistake of selecting a friendly target and thus screwing yourself over.
/cast Hand of Salvation
(Note: Please make a reply if this macro format is incorrect for self-target casting.)

Anyone know if this stacks with
Improved righteous Fury
becuase i currently have 3 points in it and if it does that was be sweet as a 26% DMG reduction during PvP which can save you in most situations debating on getting

for PvP as well for the same reason or

since blood is'nt all that great any more since they nerfed the judgement on it.

(Holy talent) stacks with this glyph? so it would be 40% damage reduction instead of 20% :D
I very very much doubt it and IF it does then I'm sure blizzard will change it, but can anyone test this somehow?

The wording on this for Cata seems kind of vague... "Hand of Salvation no longer permanently reduces threat over time but instead reduces all threat as long as Hand of Salvation lasts."
What percentage is reduced? Does it reduce subsequent threat after the cast? That's my guess, but I'm not sure if that actually makes it better or not from the normal version that actually reduces what your current threat is.

And it's not unfortunate, Fade is a great spell.
HoS
provide permanent small amount of Threat reduction, which you might still being attack by adds while HoS active, which mean nothing for the tank sometime.
Fade
can almost ensure all mob turn back to tank for the whole duration, which should give the tank enough time to build up threat.
Not to mention in Heroic is usually a 1 hit dead situation, Fade could really out shrine unglyphed HoS.
AND this is a
targeted spell
, basically you can Fade
anyone in Raid
with this glyph, even in
Off Tank Switching
!
(since the tank will gain back the threat right after clicking off the buff)
Actually this a MUCH Stronger version of Fade that very spec of Paladin can use in raid.
As a Priest I hope I can Fade other as well : )

Mirror and fade at least do other things (damage or talented getting out of snares/roots). Temp threat drops are pointless. You can always stop doing what you are doing to let tank threat build or spend a GCD using this and having to wait anyway near the end of the duration of this hand. Either way nothing changes.

The way this glyph seems to work is similar to Divine Shield. All it does at the moment is masks threat but does not prevent threat from building. I was watching Omen and my threat bar turned grey but I was still able to pass the tank. This in my opinion completely defeats the purpose of salvation. From the tool tip it reads as if it works like the spores on Loatheb, however it unfortunately doesn't. This might just be a glitch and will be fixed later on, but if this glyph is working as intended it is totally useless. The static threat reduction is better.

I agree, this is an "oh sh** I pulled aggro but didn't get one shot" saves, which I think is kinda silly. IMO it should turn the threat reduc "dot" into a flat % dump, and maybe increase the cooldown on Salv to compensate. so we'd have a mini soul shatter effect instead.

Wow this blows. I had these glyphs in before the patch cause they reduced damage taken if you used on yourself. This glyph was automatically put in my major slot even though I did not select it on both specs. They really need to shorten the cool down since it can't even be used as a deffensive any more. This glyph until they fix it makes the ability worse gg.

I use this glyph and while I will say its not amazing by any means, I can clarify its use from constant use and monitoring.
For the 10 seconds the the target is salved any and all threat they generate during this 10 second timeframe is not generated at all. It does NOT return at the end of the 10 second timeframe, however, in the case of classes which have dots/bleeds, the threat generated by any such attacks cast BEFORE the salve will continue to stack. In my particular case I run with a very geared feral druid who has reforged quite a bit of mastery, increasing the dmg of his bleed attacks by alot, after much experimenting we now time it so that he will throw his bleeds on during the salv timer, so that they wont begin to gen threat for 10secs, this helps in the beginning of most fights due to the low threat gen most of us tanks have on lead off now.

Seems useful until you remember the golden rule of healing:
If the dps pulls aggro, let him die. Eventually he'll smarten up.
Edit: Never did many runs pre-lich king did you? You know what would happen when a dps pulled aggro again and again? I'd get messages saying, "stop healing him if he's going to pull".
It is literally better to let the dps die than for the tank to lose aggro.
Edit: Not to say that this glyph is USELESS, just about every glyph has it's uses. This one however, is far to situational to replace another glyph. If the problem is the dps generating too much threat, this glyph won't really help much and I'd much rather take the normal effect of this glyph for reducing overall threat.
That being said, one use I can think of would be to throw this on a priest after MC breaks, but HoP will work just as well.
All-in-all it's not a useless glyph, but I would caution people to think the consequences over carefully.
Don't use this as a crutch
for dps that can't control their aggro or tanks that aren't generating enough threat. You'd be much better off in the long run by letting everyone die and learn than to carry them through their mistakes. That's what I was trying to get across in my first comment, maybe I was a little to harsh and didn't explain myself thouroughly though.

This glyph is severely underrated with the amount of mid-pull AoE going on in heroics. Standard salv isn't going to do anything for this fast aggro stuff, but give this version to a DK or warlock and watch as everything dies, without you having to dump tons of mana into them to keep them up. Definitely worth considering for a Holy Paladin glyph.

This glyph is slightly better with the tank threat hotfix. HoSalv's default function is pretty useless now, but a targetable fade isn't.
Edit: I should say that the state of having this glyph is now slightly better than state of not having it by virtue of the fact that not having this glyph makes HoSalv useless.
Edit again: Read that edit, it didn't convey was I was trying to convey. What I was trying to say is, glyphed HoSalv has improved relative to unglyphed HoSalv, by virtue of the fact that the latter is now not very useful. However, there are still better major glyphs than this one.

As mentioned previously, this glyph is most useful for removing fixation effects from a target, preventing a healer from getting spawn aggro, or as a way to force a tank to lose threat temporarily. It may not seem like a big deal, but it can be used to circumvent certain raid mechanics. Not a standard glyph for most specs, but it has its situational uses.

In 5.0.4 this is now Glyph of Inquisition. Some people are calling it a "no brainer" for DPS but they are going to change it probably. As of right now it reduces the damage bonus of your Inquisition by 15% but increases its uptime by 100%.
Sounds like a no brainer to me.

Previously someone speculated that the Glyph would be nerfed soon, since the tradeoff was 15% damage reduction in exchange for more duration. Reasonable expectation. But instead of nerfing it, Blizzard went the whole other way with it and this glyph has had the damage reduction removed. Now here's the catch, of course, is that to get your duration to increase by 30 sec, you need to land the killing blow on a target that will yield experience or honor.
Absolutely awesome glyph, but the problem is that everyone wants to charge out the ass for it. On my realm, this glyph costs 500 gold a piece. Unsurprisingly, it's less expensive to just train a character up to inscription 430.

The current iteration of this glyph pretty much excels for questing and some dungeons. Basically when you first get into a questing zone (be it for dailies or leveling) you just get 3 Holy Power off the first mob you see, cast Inquisition and for the remainder of the mob-killing you won't have to worry about refreshing Inquisition at all.
However, this glyph is mostly useless in raids, even on trash, because you're competing with about 19 other people to get the
killing blow
and thus no free Inquisition refreshes when you don't get that last hit in.

When you land a killing blow on an opponent that yields experience or honor, the duration of your Inquisition is increased by 30 sec.
