if you have
no Keepers assisting you
With Ulduar's merger of the previous 10man and 25man modes to accomodate for Timewalking, this mount remains on the loot table, with obviously no raid size setting required, but you still have to do the hard mode.
During the lifetime of
Wrath of the Lich King
, the drop rate was 100% in the
25man hard mode
. As of 4.0.3a, the
launch patch, this was reduced to a low chance of presumably 1%, maybe slightly higher.
This is a very fast

Finally, a true roflcopter.
In the Old Norse mythology, Mimir (Mimiron) was renowned for his knowledge and wisdom who was beheaded during the Æsir-Vanir War.
Odin took Mimir's head, stuffed it with herbs and spoke charms to it. It became one of his great artifacts, that had the ability to foretell the future.
reminds me of robotnik's eggomatic hovercraft :S
Yes, They went there.
Tauren finally get their gnome mount.
Is it just me, or does this mount remind anyone of bowsers clown copter from super mario world?
there is a barrel coming out of the mouth, the first mount with a gun, even though its inactive.
Ah, so now it isn't just Onyxia who gives epic head.
just a vid of the mount including sound, enjoy
Coolest mount ever
So if you do a good job, you get head?
I'm not sure thats the message they should be sending out..
And I'll Form the Head!
Will (finally) grant a Feat of Strength when Patch 3.3 hits.
Not like you need a FoS to show this thing off though!
lol looks funny
It looks like the Owlship (Watchmen) right?
Even nowadays, this mount is very hard to come by. Many people are no longer interested in ulduar, and the people who are simply do not have the skill to obtain this. I was playing on my main on Darkspear about two weeks ago when the realm first of Alone in the Darkness was spammed before my eyes. Indeed, this is perhaps THE most unique mount in the game, perhaps even more unique than arena prize mounts from any one season (not combined).
man i like this mount !
OMG funniest mount ever!
Disappointed to find this mount doesnt have a /mountspecial
"this is a very fast...head" LMFAO XD
This just dropped in my raid last night...
Then I asked myself the question, what do I prefer, the guild, or the mount?
After about three milliseconds I realised the only logical and fair choice was to take the mount, /g Thanks guys, but I don't think this is the guild for me. Then /gquit
Sure I now have to hang-out in a leveling guild as no raiding guild wants me, and when I get down about it, I just remember... I have Mimiron's head... AND THEYYYYY DON'T!
Now I don't approve of ninjaing this item if your guild uses FFA for some stupid reason. But I certainly recommend it! It was the best decision of my life!
Go ahead, thumbs this comment down, make my e-peen bigger knowing... I HAVE MIMIRON'S HEAD AND YOU DON'T!
Also, the "Epic" quality of items is not worthy of this mount. It should be Artifactual, item level 5 bgillion and be vendorable for 50 thousand gold. Seriously, I mean who would vendor this for 50k? I will tell you... Someone who was dropped on their head as a baby!
Skornaq said: I have found the wow equivalent of Gollum.
just got it today at 1:06 PM today august 8th on cairne US
Definetely one of the coolest mounts available along with the phoenix and invincible. Very few people on a realm usually have it as nobody really can be bothered doing full clears of ulduar and even in icc gear this fight requires bit of skill and co-ordination.
This mount will have it's drop chance decreased from 100% to an undetermined, very low drop chance (presumable ~1% like other rare raid mounts such as Ashes of Al'ar) in Patch 4.0.3.
i love this mount
Starting with 4.0.3a it is no longer a guaranteed drop, but a rare drop (probably drop chance is around 1% as the other rare mounts that drop from raids). :(
Is this still available on the live realms after the shattering?
Anyone know if this item is still live and is it just a random drop off Yogg Or do you have to do a special hard mode way for it?
This mount looks stupid. I don't care how rare it is, I would sell it to someone else in the raid if it drops and I won the roll. Sorry but I'd rather fly around in something that isnt eggmans flying machine.
Someone posted on the Invincible's Reins comment section that its drop rate was reduced to 4%.
I don't know if this is truly what the drop rate is, or if it can be applied to this mount, but you can expect it's low.
STILL, 4% isn't bad considering some of the .08% drops out there.
For me, its really unfair to have such drop rate, at this moment. I would agree with something between 5-10%, but 1%?
You can get 3 to 5 ppl to do Kael'thas, but to get this, not even with 25 ppl is a granted kill...
Kael'thas is easily puggable, while Yogg 25 isn't (whether you have keepers or not), and you still need to kill all bosses to have the possibility to fight against Yogg...
EDIT: After analysing the wowhead data and also from personal experience, the mount doesn't have
at this moment
1%. According to wowhead its around 20% so, gotta keep running until you got yours and hoping they wont change the drop rate sooner (aka in patch 4.1).
Just would like to add the fact that
has a higher drop rate (around 30%), which makes all sense since its a harder challenge.
EDIT2: I guess is safe to say that it has (around) 1% drop rate now. After 30 attempts (there was 52 kills before 4.1 and 82 after), no mount was registered in the drops. Even if there was 1, it would have 3% drop rate, which is still pretty low, so the drop rate must be nearby.
has 20% drop rate in this patch. So in 4.2 should be 1%.
EDIT3: Found that, according to blizzard's official
Mimiron's Head page
, it appeared with a "Medium" drop rate and now with a "High" drop rate (at least for now).
I've been doing Yogg Saron 25 no lights from the past 3 months and nothing has dropped since then. Adding that and the fact that, according with blizzard's initial announcement, it was going to change to a "very low" drop rate, makes no sense to have a high drop rate, since they want that this mount, along with
to maintain their prestige through their rarity.
So this has to be a mistake for sure.
Is it drop yet only on 25m?
Due to the change in the way raid lockouts and saves work, I assume that a guild who still wants to farm for these could do the following:
Get a raid together of 1 main and 24 alts, then clear up to and including Vezax. Get rid of the alts and invite the mains back in and then kill Yogg with zero watchers helping. Each week after that, use one of the alts to extend to an instance with only Yogg remaining.
This should save 24 clears of the previous bosses and cut down some time. :)
5 Runs Guarantess atleast one Mimoron's Head. 10 Runs Guarantess atleast two ect.
This is not how probability works. You could kill 0-Light Yogg several hundred times and still never see the head drop. This is because the ~1% chance for the head to drop is on each individual kill; the chance of seeing it does not increase for each consecutive run. For example, if you are trying to roll a six on a die, the chance to get that face value on each roll will always be 1/6. The likelihood of you having seen the mount will increase, but no amount of runs will give you a 100% guarantee to see the mount.
Has wowhead ever lied to you or broke your heart before? :) I'd believe wowhead personally but my server is full of trolls and idiots, myself included :-P
Ive killed him every week with 0 keepers for the past 3 months, have yet to see the mount drop.
While many raid/dungeon mounts are classified as "extremely low" drop rates, Warcraft's website has this one set to "medium" drop rate. Hmmmm.
Might be worth pointing out, the item has had its drop rate changed on the official website to 'High'. Not sure if this is an error, or if the drop chance has actually been increased.
first week - no drop
second week - mount dropped
third week - no drop
Will let you know future weeks progress as I do this
With so few kills/loots (106 at the moment) the drop chance is nowhere near accurate. Those 10 drops cound be just luck.
You might also want to consider that the Wowhead Client can only register drops correctly when the player actually inspects the boss corpse - roll windows can not be associated with bosses (directly) If the kill/loot count is tied to that as well, there could be many more kills that were not registered, and people only bothered to inspect the corpse when the PM said the mount dropped.
In that vein, it
even be that those 10 registered drops came from one actual drop only: PM: "Hey, the mount's in there!" and 24 other players (or less, considering the level advantage) inspect the corpse, with 10 of those using the Wowhead Client, which sees the mount in the loot window and registers that. Similar train of thought for 2-4 actual drops, maybe only a few players had the Client
inspected the corpse - without PM, even less players actually inspect the corpse, since you see all notable drops in the roll windows.
Dropped on my 8th consecutive Yogg kill. (isn't included in wowhead database)
I'm 2/3 of the way to completing Val'anyr, so i expect i'll do roughly another month of farming. I'll update if another drops in that time.
To all people running serial pug Ulduar 25 runs for whatever reason (really it's either legendary or Head) i strongly suggest implementing a stacking +10 to roll per fully attended raid. Or a similar system that rewards persistence.
For some reason my last comment was deleted. I have done 4 yogg kills since change and had the mount drop once so far.
W1: NO DROP

W4: NO DROP
W5: NO DROP

W8: NO DROP
How come there are NO pictures of this mount from the side? :(
Correct me if im wrong, but this thing has a 100% drop chance if you do it with no keepers right?
Obvious Bowser Copter / Megaman reference...
until 4.03 it was guaranteed drop, and then blizzard changed it (not before 4.03) and thats why datas on wowhead and blizzard mount section are *!@#ed up. So yeah this is rare mount with estimated 2-3% drop rate from yogg 25 no watchers kill
The drop rate on this baby is a little messed up, the EU Armory is showing a high drop chance (which changed from medium since the beginning of Cataclysm), and WoWhead is showing two different drop rates ( 4%,5% ).
It dropped from Yogg in 7 kills for my guild though, so I highly doubt either of the databases are right.
I have no idea how everyone is getting the thing to drop after a few runs. I keep seeing 1 out of 7 or 10. My group has been doing Uldar 25 achieves and off achieves for
pugging a few here and there.
We always do the 0 Lights Yogg fight.
I have yet to see the thing drop. I have a great group that wont let me give up on farming this mount since I am a collector. What I have done for them is once Mimrons head drops and I equip it I am offering out the tcg rare loot mount "Mottled Drake" for free rolls. They can equip it or sell it. I know I can reserve it for free like almost everyone else but Its a good group and they deserve something at the end of all this.
I will keep posting the status of this drop on skullcrusher---So far 0 out of 33 tries with my group :(
I've got an alt saved to yogg0 only and I'm using its lockout to farm mount with reserve + 150k raid roll (with 10-11 people). I think it's been 8 weeks now and still no drop.
this is drop only on 25 man hc?
Couple questions about farming this.
1. Is it possible to clear up to yogg in 10, then switch to 25 for the kill?
2. What is a good minimum number of people to have for yogg so that there are as few competitors for the mount without having to worry about people going insane before the brain portals open?
Does this drop in any version of yogg or just +1 now?
If you value your sanity, don't chase after this mount. If I put it simply, you will farm this for years and probably not see it. I myself took 3 years 1 month to see it drop for the first time. It causes no end of stress every week, with people going insane, and I
fear, the inevitable end of this is myself, going insane
, in real life. I got close when my guildie walked in and
won it on group loot on their first run.
Don't chase this.
Don't even think about it.
Nope, your mental health is not worth it.
As of patch 5.0.4 the drop rate of this mount is now set as
on blizzards armory.
Now Drops from BMAH. A list of items can be found
In the first 7 days of release, I managed to get all the server mounts on BMAH: Mimi's Head for 620k, Onyxian Drake for 512k gold, and Drake of the South Wind for 157k on a high pop pvp server (Bleeding Hollow). Luckily not too many ppl knew where BMAH was located yet.
If you're on a high pop server, expect it to be a race to 999k cap to win. Have a toon prepped and hope you're the lucky one to get that last bid in. Bid fast and keep your mouth shut until AFTER you win. Honestly, this mount is beautiful. GL! :)
Edit: For those disputing the relevance of this post and if it shows up on BMAH, please view my screenshot:
Complete Guide to 350+ Mounts
After farming ulduar 25 3-man with my blood dk, a holy paladin and a fire mage for the fragments of val'anyr at level 85 and being able to do 12\14 with only algalon and yogg impossible, yogg, at least before 5.0.4, had a bit too many tentacles spawning, couldn't keep up with them, enrage was probably beatable if we could've got past p2 (this with all keepers).
At 90, with way higher dps, I suppose this will be at least doable 3 or 2-man on 25 +0, because the difficulty in dps requirements doesn't really change much from +4 to +0, you only lose 2-3 10% damage buffs, what changes is you don't have to fail on losing sanity cause you can't recover it.
Definitely worth a try with decent gear, and IMO also soloable in later tiers for blood dks (blood dks already soloed yogg 10 +0 at 85 when 5.0.4 hit).
I have just seen it on the Black Market Auction house on the Gorefiend server.
The current bid is 400,000 gold but I am assuming the original bid was 20,000 gold.
Edit: The auction was completed and the final bid was 600,000 gold! Pretty crazy imo :o
This is currently on proudmoore's black market ah.
Current bid is 999,999g lol.
Sold for 699k on Draenor US Black Market
The formula to calculate your drop chance ( x ) over any given number of runs ( y ) is this
1 - ( ( 1 - x ) ^ y )
For Mimirons Head:
Your X Value: .0142
Your Y Value: The amount of weeks you have wasted farming this mount
Edit. Below i have been listing the "lowered" drop chances of the mount. I know the mount is not really getting its drop rate lowered, but the data is just becoming more accurate. Just think it would be useful to see the rate at how much this is changing on a weekly basis. by the looks of it, the TRUE drop rate is probably 1%,
List of drop rates over time

12-16-2012 3.69% (.17% change)

For those who wonder You can acuttly Buy it From the Black Market its on the black market at the moment and im trying to get it wish me luck :) hope this helps for those who have too much gold to spend :P
This item can also be found on the BMAH
I thought i would mention, during the start of MoP on Darkspear EU BMAH it went for goldcap. I saw it with my very eyes, incredible.
Dropped yesterday. It is funny because we were joking about how the %drop is less than the bindings for Thunderfury, which I have been farming for months. Didn't win it sadly.
Sold on Lothar BMAH on 1/25/13 for 999,999k gold... or max bid. Be prepared to bring some serious money if you want this thing from the BMAH... and no, I didn't buy it, I don't have that kind of gold.
Do you still get the achievement for it as well if you buy it off the BMAH? Anyone know?
Does add FOS if you buy through BMAH just got it today.
Here is a list of mount drops from Instances, Raids, and World Bosses to save some looking around.

2+2+5+12+14+57= 92 kills, still haven't seen the mount drop, maybe kill#100 will be lucky one?
I was out of my head spending 610k on this, but at least I'm now in this one.
Saw it on BMAH today on Anachronos EU, it sold for 999.999 gold! I uploaded a screenshot.
somebody at Hyundai plays them some WoW.....
For all you Head owners that didn't know already - a tip to keeping the engine/rotors quiet if you're afking.
Land the mount, turn off sound (CTRL-S), then elevate the mount and unmute (CTRL-S again).
Tadaa! Now you can showboat in your capital city while waiting for your LFR/raid to form and not have to listen to deafening engines!
I was part of my realms 1st kill of this boss back in August 2009. We only killed the boss about 6-7 times before the drop chance got nerfed from a guaranteed drop and I lost the mount to people who didn't even join the guild till we were on heroic lich king and who never did Alone in the Darkness as current content.
Nearly 4 years later i've just noticed it's on the Black Market AH. It was quite lucky I stopped by and checked because i'm normally in bed by now (It was 2:30 AM when I placed my bid) and I only check the BMAH maybe once a week so I miss a lot of the auctions.
I bid 955k because i've heard that you can't be outbid at that price. It will be most of my gold since I have 1.2 million but it's not like there's a lot else really worth spending gold on.
The KOOPA CLOWN!
For those that have planned to farm this mount at some point, but have been discouraged by the fact that you'll need a very large group to not see everyone go insane within a few seconds due to Psychosis (shadow dmg and 12 reduced sanity on hit), Psychosis was changed in 5.4 and no longer reduces your sanity.
I've been duoing this encounter twice a week for several weeks now and all that seems to be needed is to follow the regular tacts and have enough gear to not get overrun with tentacles or Immortal Guardians.
P.S This has been mentioned on the Yogg-saron page, but I decided to post about it here as well. Credit goes to user Thirteen on mmo-champion for posting about this on 2013-09-12, 03:21 PM.
Yogg Saron 25man No Keepers (0 lights) is now officially solo'able!
Just did it today as an ilvl 562 Fury Warrior solo.
Credit to MMO Champ and Ttotem for the heads up!
Because of the mechanics of having 0 keepers up, even with the removal of random sanity loss from Sara in phase 2, all the other mechanics and loss of sanity remain unchanged. The fight is still absolutely brutal, has a high skill requirement, and took a good number of attempts to beat it solo.
Rather than brag, anyone looking to solo this
have excellent movement and awareness capabilities.
Most important tip
The small tentacles can not get off their cast(s), specifically black plague. This will cause a long debuff that CCs (stuns) you very often and totally randomly, making you vulnerable to more debuffs, loss of control, inability to avoid certain sanity losses, and not enough time on the brain or Yogg in the final phase before you are overwhelmed.
Even making it to the final phase with over 75+ sanity left, you must have insane DPS before the unkillable adds wreck you; as you will have ALOT of adds after 45 seconds into the last phase.
Good luck! And go get your solo Mimiron's Head!
Dropped for me after 241 kills across alts at 1% droprate

Although it is possible for other specs, I highly recommend Survival. I suspect it got a ton easier with the recent change in 5.4,
no longer reduces
, but is still a very hard and unforgiving fight.
Get a DPS pet (I used a Ferocity specced Wolf) and a Tenacity specced pet ( I used a turtle) the DPS pet will be used in phase 1 and 2 and the tenacity pet for phase 3. I
recommend speccing into

isn't a must but certainly helps.
required. I also had
, I wouldn't say it's required, but it is recommended. I also had an easier time when I respecced into
s) for this fight, but it is doable without.
You will also need to make a macro:
/cast Blink Strikes
Use this whenever you get constricted.
Very easy phase, use the ferocity pet, put it on passive and move it into the middle of the room, directly where
is. Run through as many green clouds as possible, and as the
spawn, misdirect them to your pet as they run toward you. When you have about 9-10
s attacking your pet, AoE them down, and she should push into the next phase.
Phase 2 (Outside):(100%):
Remember to take pet off passive while
is transitioning into phase 2.
Now, 3 different tentacles will spawn;
. The kill order is Constrictor > Corruptor > Crusher
, however your pet can most likely one or two shot the
if you are over 550 ilvl, they have very little health (about 100k). When you are constricted (
), you are unable to attack. Right when he transitions, You will be constricted right off the bat, use your macro (see above) and kill the
ASAP, before it gets a chance to cast
IT IS IMPORTANT TO KILL THEM FAST
, as if they are able to get these casts off it is a good chance that it may prevent you from killing the boss, as they greatly hinder you. (-60% movement speed for 20 seconds and stunned randomly for 24 seconds).
s aren't as important as the others, however should try to be killed when constrictors or corruptors aren't there, the Crushers put a debuff that reduces the damage you deal by 20% (
), which can stack if there are more of them up, so there really shouldn't be no more than 1 up at a time.
is annoying, however is not avoidable. After 1 minute, Brain portals will spawn around the boss, you will be constricted right when they spawn so have your macro ready, once the tentacle dies get into the portal.
Phase 2 (Brain):(100%-30%):
There are three different visions to get while in Yogg-Saron's brain, Wyrmrest Temple, Stormwind Keep, and Icecrown Citadel. Within each vision there are 9
s that must be killed, you must kill all 9 in order to attack the
. Also, try not to look at the
, they drain your
by 2 every second your character is looking at them(
). The ICC vision is definitely he best one to get, as the
s are very close together and you can just
them down and run over to The Mind's Eye, where the
is located, while the other two you must single target the
s down. Either way, hopefully you have about 35-40 seconds left on
cast to run over in the brain room and DPS the brain once the tentacles are dead. The Brain needs to get to 30% and you need to run out using the 3 portals around the room to get back outside. Try not to use your DPS CD's these are highly needed for the last phase, but try to get the brain down to about 40% and run out (If you are Survival, your
should keep ticking while outside, and the brain will get down to about 30%, and you will have more time outside to kill extra tentacles outside before he transitions to phase 3).
Phase 3 (30%-0%):
Quickly kill any remaining tentacles that are up (Corruptor > Crusher), and switch out to your tenacity pet. Use all DPS CD's on
, he needs to go down fast, so many
are not up. Stand at max range from
, so when he casts
he does not get healed (Try setting pet to passive, so he does not attack Yogg-Saron and move the adds to him, which will cause him to heal). Try to get the
to low health at all times, they won't do as much damage, and remember to misdirect them all to your pet. Just try to burn as much as possible and you can ignore the first few
s, but once your
gets to lower than 50 I recommend turning around to avoid
loss, while you are turned around you could use that time to get the
down to low health. You MUST have high DPS in this phase because the adds are unkillable, and there will be a LOT of adds 1 minute into the phase if
is not killed. Misdirect adds to pet, and try getting the adds low after he has cast
, remember to use
if your pet gets low, and turning around to avoid the
loss and he should go down. Collect loot for your unusable
and 1-2% chance at
, cry that it didn't drop, and do it all next week.
Good luck to all the other Hunter Soloers looking to solo
25M 0 Keepers for

Feel free to ask me any questions in-game if you are having trouble, or have any questions about this fight, or any others in the instance, I currently have the entire

Finally got this GNOMES HEAD* to drop for me today solo:D
For a chance at this mount to drop you need to kill yogg saron on 25 player without talking to any of the bosses once they turn friendly.
I've killed him every week with 11 characters in the past months, forming a group of 4-5 ppl and binding the mount for 200-250k gold.
runs so far, the damn mount never drops :/
I hope someone may know the answer to this. I'm not sure if this is a new feature, but the door to General Vezax opens after you kill 3 Protectors (not sure if it's always been this way). I just happened to be saving Thorim for last because he is a pain to solo, but now I'm wondering if I need to kill him at all? Does anyone know if the head will still drop if I don't bother killing him and go straight to Yogg. It's still 0 Light technically, but Yogg 0 Light 25 is a pain to farm solo so I don't want to risk going through the effort and all the while have the loot not be eligible to drop. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!
This mount dropped for me a few weeks ago:D 9th solo kill out of over 500 account wide kills since start of cata
I think it's a bit weird that this has a 1% drop chance, considering all you have to do before getting it, while getting the mounts from 10 and 25 man Obsidium Sanctum takes 10 minutes of your time.
i did this 25 no keepers for first time today and my heart skipped a beat when i saw what dropped:D If ur a lock rain of fire can be cast while ur trapped to get out of tentacle 574 ilvl. Gl to all of u in getting this epic mount!
Finally the bastard dropped.
Saw it drop on my first kill but gave it to my gf now it dropped again on kill number 111 split among the 4 chars ive been doing it on every week
Also been clearing on normal 10m switching to 25m so it does drop when you do it that way
Just Invincible left to get then i'm the pokemon champion having caught em all
Can confirm this can drop in a raid ID that has already been cleared the same week. I joined a group that was clearing multiple times in a row. There was a mage saving the lockout who would invite 2-4 people who would enter the instance, then mage would drop group and switch to the toon he wanted to kill it on. We'd kill it, switch to other toons, he'd go back to his mage and repeat the whole thing. On the third kill it dropped and I won! Redemption for rolling a 5 on it 2 years ago.
I'm not sure if it's been mentioned, but the details of the metal and rivets on this mount are amazing. They fit perfectly and are one of the many reasons this is the best mount in WoW.
For those who are not sure or have never done it before, you don't need to kill every boss in the raid. The only requirement for it to drop is to
kill the last boss in 25m
must not accept any assistance from the 4 keepers
. Just don't talk to them after you defeat them.
If you are just hunting for Miniron's head. here is the faster way, go into the raid as 10m, just kill
outside. If your ilevel is high enough to kill
in 10m without using Demolisher, then just hop on a bike and Speed Boost to the boss. That thing is fast.
Once you are inside, go straight to kill
Once you pass him, defeat all 4 keepers inside. After that, just don't talk to them. Go straight to the final room. When you get there, do not enter the boss room yet. Good thing blizzard placed a teleport pad right in front of the final boss. It really saves so much time on traveling. Use the teleporter to get back to the raid entrance. Get outta the raid and re-enter as 25m, then teleport back to the final boss room. and good luck.
After 6.0.2 I've been able to solo Yogg+0 with every class. I wanted to share a mini guide with tips specific for every class.
I find it better to go in with a DPS spec, no need to go tank spec.
If you have multiple toons that could solo it, try to have a friend help you re use the same lockout so you can just go in and kill Yogg. The fight takes 5 minutes or so, offer them something in return for their help.
Item level is not a huge deal.
I have been solo'ing this with toons from 500 to 575+ ilvl and I can tell you it just comes down to the mechanics and knowing how your class can handle them.
The important things to watch out for
you got to know how to break out of the constrictor tentacle. Every class can get out of them, look below for more info on how you can handle it with your class. Kill as many tentacles as you can before going into the brain, you'll usually get gripped before the portals spawn, so as soon as you break free go into the brain, kill the adds inside and damage the brain without using DPS cool downs.
you must kill al tentacles that are remaining before bursting Yogg with your DPS cool downs.
Avoid cleaving the adds.
If you get many of them too low they'll get a buff that heals them AND the boss. I've had attempts where I had the boss at 5% and then he just went up to 20% because I didn't pay attention.
management shouldn't be an issue. You'll go into the brain with 100, if you come out of it with 76-80 insanity you can easily afford to just face the boss during your burst in phase 3 and kill him before you're insane.
Now for some class specific advice, remember overall to take movement increase, self healing, and dispelling talents/glyphs.
Spec: Balance and Feral both work great.
To break grip:
Starfall or feral swipe.
Shape shifting won't get rid of the speed reduction debuff, try and dispel yourself only if you got the mana for it, the poison can become annoying but if you kill tentacles quick enough it won't matter. Avoid star fall during the last phase so you won't cleave the adds, or take the adds away from the boss so they won't heal him. If you're doing this as balance make sure you kill all the tentacles before bursting him, the rebuffs they apply are very bad for casters
Spec: I did it as Unholy.
To break grip:
Blood Boil & Death and Decay work great.
Overall DKs have very easy, their pet and ranged attacks are enough to kill tentacles. Phase 3 burst is very easy.
Spec: Done BM and Survival. I prefer survival. As BM you must make sure you put your pet on passive when you take the portal into the brain so it will come with you, the usual pet management annoyances apply.
To break grip:
Dire beast, Explosive Trap, I think I could use Barrage and Glaive Toss too. The grip is a non issue for hunters.
Master's call won't get rid of the speed reduction debuff. I recommend taking Stampede for the last phase burst.
Spec: Did it as Frost, I think Fire could be stronger but I didn't need to try it.
To break grip:
Pre-cast orb when it's about to come out, you can also use Blizzard
Very important to kill tentacles asap, the debuffs are very annoying as a mage. Inside the brain I just went to the middle and spammed blizzard on the adds so I didn't have to run around much. Take mirror image for last phase burst and use Time Warp. The problem with mages is that they have no healing at all in combat so you must burst before you're overwhelmed by adds.
Spec: Windwalker. Take Diffuse Magic, Tiger's Lust and Xuen.
To break grip:
Spinning Crane Kick
You can use the Monk copies to deal with the tentacles during phase 2, save your Diffuse Magic for the brain part so you an get rid of the slow. During phase 3 avoid using Fists of Fury if you got too many adds out, unless you're about to get the kill and the boss won't have time to heal. Xuen on the last phase, and dispel yourself on cool down.
To break grip:
Judgement or Divine Storm if you have the Holy Power for it
No major issues for Paladins. Dispel yourself to get rid of the disease from tentacles. Freedom won't get rid of the slow, but you can bubble it if you want to move faster during the brain phase. I used Execution Sentence for the burst on the last phase.
Spec: Shadow with Divine Star. I used Twist of Faith and Mindbender for the burst on last phase
To break grip:
Divine Star was enough
Keep your shield on CD during the last phase. If you drop below 50% just face away from the boss and 2-3 Flash Heals should be enough to get you back to full and go back to bursting.
Spec: Assasination. Use Leech poison and Burst of Speed
To break grip:
Fan of Knives
Tentacles are not an issue for rogues because of how mobile they are, as soon as you get into the brain use Cloak of Shadows to get rid of the slow. During phase 3 you can tank as many adds as you need because your healing from Leech Poison is amazing for soloing old content, so just take your time and kill all tentacles then burst.
Spec: Elemental (I'm pretty sure Enhancement could make it a lot easier but I didn't have a spec set up for it). Take the glyph of Shamanistic Rage and glyph Thunderstorm. Talent into Bulwark, Ancestral Guidance and Primal Elemental
To break grip:
Earthquake, yes, Earthquake can be cast while gripped. It's very annoying but whatever works, right? I just kept casting Earthquake on my feet on CD. Thunderstorm will do damage to the tentacle but I found mine wasn't doing enough damage to kill it
Lust/Hero during the last phase, drop Primal Fire Elemental, Ascendance and burst. Keep Bulwark down, make sure you killed all the tentacles before using your CDs. If you drop low just turn around, Healing Surge and resume
Spec: Destruction with Unbound Will
To break grip:
Rain of Fire
Very easy to kill it as a Warlock. Rain of Fire is enough to kill the adds in the brain. If you want to have lots of Embers for the last phase use Rain of Fire on the adds but make sure you keep them as far from the boss as you can.
Spec: Arms. I took Stormbolt and Bladestorm.
To break grip:
Be very smart on how you use Charge and Heroic Leap before the brain phase. You want to have them up during the brain to kill the adds as fast as you can. Stormbolt should be used for tentacles mostly. I took Mass Spell Reflection but I didn't notice if it worked. I am the worst warrior ever and I one shotted it, so I'm sure everybody can kill it too.
Here is how I've done it on my second try (6.0.2. prepatch, lvl 90):
First phase, with Sara, is trivial, just one shot the mobs that spawn.
On next phase I used Fear Ward and made extensive use of Shadow Word: Pain, which is the best way to deal with tentacles, because it's instant, deals damage upfront and has no facing requirement. You can spam it and need not to worry about mana, because in 6.x.x we no longer go OOM. I also used Halo. Make sure to stay near center, so you can easily click portals once they spawn.
Once inside, just one shot the yellow mobs with single application of Shadow Word: Pain and make sure you have Devouring Plague ready to throw on brain when you get to him (it's a room adjacent to the one you get teleported to after clicking portal). At that time, I still had roughly 24 sec remaining before timer ended, so I applied DoTs and mind flayed a few times - that killed the brain and last phase began so I got teleported outside.
Now on this last phase don't worry about the Immortal Guardians, they will not kill you, and also they are not killable. Use them to apply SW:P for instant Mind Blasts on Yogg (pick Shadowy Insight talent for this) to build orbs for Devouring Plague and just keep DoTs rolling on boss. I wasn't really paying attention to Lunatic Gaze, because my Insanity stacks were still very high and I preferred spending my free time inbetween stuns on damaging the boss. This phase lasts too short to pick MindBender (you will not use it twice probably), so I preferred ShadowFiend.
Fastest head I've ever had.
i just got mine yesterday 12/06/2014 as an Arm Warrior, solo
i started in 10-men, then change to 25m before Yogg.
it was my second kill of Yogg, i have never done it before. i started farming the mount last week.
Mimiron's Head, second kill of Yogg in my life, not many have had that kinda luck
For those who have been farming this a long time like me, it will pay off eventually.
I got to where I could solo it (with some difficulty) on my hunter, DK, and warlock during MOP.
Now in WoD at level 100 it's incredibly easier to rush through all of ulduar on 25m.
I've noticed that at 100 I don't seem to be effected by debuffs at all (or to a point where it's not noticeable) which makes it much easier to jump into a portal as soon as they spawn and not worry about all the stuns. I ran again on my level 90 warlock and can confirm the debuffs etc do indeed still exist. So, if you want to far this, Id recommend waiting til 100 where it's a faster easier clear.
After countless clears solo and with groups, I've finally attained Mimiron's head, my 199th mount! So I won't be returning to Ulduar until i level an alt that can equip the legendary hammer. Thanks for the wonderful christmas gift/drop Blizz! Hopefully Invincible will show it's head soon so i can quit ICC, 12 more shadowfrost shards and I'll have my 200th mount :)
I got mine during my first 0 lights mount run recently :D
Keep your head up, Most of you will get it if you keep trying. Eventually. . .
Just got it to drop, first time ever finishing Ulduar. Happy New Year to me!
The most important thing to note here, if you are choosing to solo it, you need to have one burst aoe move that can free you from the tentacles when the fight first begins. Do not worry about casting moves, just instant bursts, at level 100 it should only take 1 or 2 blows to destroy each tentacle.
*note* If you dont kill them quickly enough after the first one spawns, you MAY end up being stun locked. Some moves (even melee) are unusable.
For those of you who have been soloing
25-man Alone in the Darkness
during Warlords of Draenor, it cannot be overstated just how much easier this is to do this at Level 100. You will dodge most attacks, be immune to most debuffs, and be able to strike down your foes with righteous power. While it's technically feasible to do this in your 90s, wait to reach 100 and be iLevel 615'ish to really smash through it. Enjoy!
Give me Mimiron's head and I'll show you a cat who's a good mouser.
For those who filter comments by "Patch", you need to know that any talk you may have heard of 100% drop rates with 0 Keepers refers to the pre-Cataclysm system.
Now (6.03), you need 0 Keepers to earn a 1% drop chance.
Also, don't be fooled by the "High" rate listed on Blizzard's
You can run the instance on 10 man up to and untill General (semi final boss).
Then you can teleport outside just before entering Yogg's room (use the teleport platform thingie to Assembly grounds)
When outside set raid difficulty to 25 man, re-enter instance, teleport again and voila ;P
Pretty annoying fight if those stuns and death coils are chained ;P
When i first started to farm Mimiron's Head, i met
guy...he said me : "Any Luck?"
And me : "Nah, no
this week..." and then i started to think about how nice was this mage.
Now, after ages of farming the Head without ANY DAMN LUCK, he still ask me that same question, "Any luck?".
I'm quite surprised he's not a Troll.
just a note... it seems that Constrictor Tentacles are no longer positioned "behind" your character when they grab you, meaning you can use ordinary attacks/spells to break yourself out. looks like this was changed in 6.1 or something.
I'm farming this mount on 6 characters each weeks.
I don't clean the instance each time, i use a reroll tag directly on Yogg 25 0 keeper.
I use this tag on my 6 others chars, i enter the instance directly in front of Yogg.
I have farm a lot of mounts...i have more than 300 mounts at the moment.
As an example, i got Invincible after 80 down of LK.
Actually, i have down Yogg 25 0 keeper
more than 300 times
It's not possible to not drop the mount so i begin to think that tagging my 6 char on Yogg with my reroll
who keep the tag
DON'T ALLOW THE MOUNT TO DROP
The HM mode of Ulduar is different from others HM raids mode.
You don't select HM in the raid menu, you have to do something in game, for yogg, is to don't talk to each gardians.
This specific HM mode may explain why th emount don't drop when you don't clean the instance each time.
If somebody has looted the mount using an existing tag extended each week to be directly in front of Yogg, please tell us.
In that case, we can be sure the mount can drop by this way.
do you have to hit that red button during the mimron fight, in order for it to have a chance to drop off 25m yogg?
Got him today after 124 runs across all my characters. I was using one of my alts to extend lockout every week, so I had only Yogg to kill. I can officially confirm that it can drop that way, and all those people losing hope... Don't worry, it WILL drop.
Around 230 runs on Lich King tho, still no invincible. See ya in Invincible's Reins comments section, when i place my hands on him :D
Today got my Mimi Head. Darkspear Realm.
206 run. Farming 14 characters. My characters just 91-94 lvl 1 100 lvl.
All class can possible kill Yogg Saron 25 Hard mode.
Just need 91+ lvl, 90+K health you can easy kill Yogg Saron.
Good Luck all.
Is it normal to not receive the Zero Light achieve if you switch from 10M to 25M @ Yogg? First kill with my 94 DK and no help, yet when I downed him I didn't get the achieve (not a big deal I can't get the points anyways), but I was wondering if anyone else had that issue. My Rarity gave me an attempt on Mimiron's Head, and I would assume that would only come out if done correctly. I am 100% certain I had no help, but I was just curious.
Got him after 320 runs with 11 chars!
Dropped in extended lockout
Guide to farming with multiple alts without clearing all bosses each time.
Pick a character that will be your looking for group dummy.
Clear: Flame Leviathan, XT-002 Deconstructor, Hodir, Freya, Thorim, Mimron, General Vezax on 10 man mode.
Do not kill Yogg-Saron.
Take the portal from Yogg-Saron back to the entrance and leave.
Convert to 25 man
Open looking for group > click premade group > click custom group > Start a group under any name hit list group. Check auto accept and hit X
Now log out
Log in to your alt and open looking for group > click premade group > click custom group and hit find a group.
You should see your group listed click it and hit join
Once you've joined you will most likely have lead. If you do not have lead wait till your lfg dummy has been logged out long enough. I'm guessing around 5 mins and it will pass you lead. Ensure that your new toon has normal mode 25 man selected under raid difficulty.
If you followed my steps correctly it will say 12/17 bosses killed when your first alt walks inside Ulduar. Go in and kill Yogg.
For all other alts you must hit reset all instances before entering Ulduar
or it won't work. The first alt doesn't have to because Yog was never killed.
These instructions were based on being in a Party not a Raid. So I am not sure what will happen as a raid. P.S. Realm hoppers can be a real pain. You may have to remake the group to avoid them.
Advice to anyone trying to solo Yogg-saron 25h but having problems, some class are meant to have a hard time on this boss due to the lack of proper tentacle-killing abilities (my worst personal experience being my enanchment shaman unable to drop his lava totem because ground was uneven, needless to say, i rerolled elemental for earthquake).
in the end, it's all condensed to these 2 questions:
Does your character have a freely spammable aoe(no target required)?
Does your character have an ability that he/she can use without facing requirements(also pets you can control count)?
if the answer to both is
you should reconsider farming yogg'saron on that spec, often a single talent is the key for a smoother solo
sidenote:do not expect to be able to kill him with less than 540 item level (without a burst class)
Dropped at 127th kill(farming on multiple alts).Good luck to all still farming.
As for, killing constrictor tentacle-just make a macro to target it,and use any kind of attack. No issue for any class/dps spec. The only problem -that could wipe a less geared char-is brain phase(especially with 20% reduction dmg multiple buff). So,dps check.
after doing ulduar 27 times, finally..... I found out it only drops on 25 man mode -_- im an idiot
Can confirm it still drops 25 man with no lights, patch 6.2
150kills at the momment.Mount did not drop yet :s
WARNING TO ALL POTENTIAL FARMERS:
This mount makes THE most annoying sound when it is in motion. Be prepared to play without sound.
Seriously, best way I could describe it is two cats made out of steel clawing and metallicly hissing at each other at a rapid pace.
I guess I got lucky. I got mine on my third week of farming. Lovely mount!
Got it today! 46 kills.
Craziest thing happened.
My boyfriend has been farming this mount for AGES now. So much that he had given up these past few months and hasn't entered Ulduar since.
I decided to start collecting all the legendaries in the game for something to do, so he comes with me on my run for fragments and honestly I have gotten more fragments on runs where I haven't wanted them. So it was pretty disappointing even though I know the drop chance of fragments is really low.
We get to Yogg, and I know at least I get one fragment from him, so we down him really quickly.
Oh yeah, we getting all the normal loot, I get my fragment and then all I hear in skype is 'WAIT, WHAT?"
I look up and there it is. Mimmy's Head! He starts going insane and so I instantly pass on it and we are both really happy and excited and can't actually believe it dropped after not doing it in forever. We port out so he can mount and take a screenshot and he's pretty over the moon right now.
But that's not even the end of it.
We cleared it on Monday, went back in on Wednesday, still didn't get hardly ANY fragments but Yogg obviously really likes us so he gave us another head.
Yep, two head's in 3 days.
HOW? I don't even believe it myself really, it was PURE luck, crazy, unbelievable luck.
I tried to post a link of a screenshot of us on our mounts, but I just registered to tell this story so it says I can't!
Anyway, good luck to everyone who is still farming this and don't give up! RnGesus works in mysterious ways :)
Quick question about this and just to make sure, all you have to do is set it to regular 25 and kill Yogg without talking to guardians inside? Also does it drop if you run it on 10 and then switching to 25? How about running it on old lockouts where Yogg is still available? I apologize, but after 200 ++ runs on several toons, I was starting to wonder if I was doing anything wrong. I know RNG are a heartless mistress, but after so many runs you may start thinking, it's your fault!
For the mount to drop does it matter which one you talk to in order to get started? Bran or the Lore Keeper?
Dropped today 10/13/2015 right after reset, I had my wife save a lockout in 10 player a few weeks ago that took me straight to yogg.
If you have a friend or someone who can save a lockout for you and just keep extending, it cuts out a lot of time especially if you are like me and running it on 11 toons per week. I can confirm the raid was originally ran and saved on 10 man normal and it showed under raid locks as 10 man normal, then I would join the group, get party leader, and switch to 25 man, go straight to yogg and kill :)
Happy hunting all keep at it!
Finally got mine on Monday night at 2am while doing an insomnia run. Saw an extra piece of loot and then an icon pop up in the middle of my screen (courtesy of New Openables).
I about squeeed myself deaf.
Good luck, everyone!
Finally got mine today! I have no idea how many runs I did, but I was farming with 3 toons every week. I'm guessing somewhere around 150 or so. It's pretty much all I do in the game. What am I going to do now?
Finally dropped after 240 runs between 11 characters. Things I learned during this really long camp:
1) RNG is a cruel mistress
2) The lockout trick works, that's how I got it. To make things easier on yourself, run up to General on one toon, then take turns running your other toons. You can save the original lockout for next week or finish it and start another next week. This method has been discussed in other posts, look it up!
3) Remember to make sure each run is 25 normal,
Keepers, just to double check!
4) RNG is such a cruel *!@#$...
setting foot in Ulduar again.
Best of lucks to you all trying to get this annoying mount!
I got it today 2015/10/29!. After 70 runs between 2 chars. The best thing is that i wont enter Ulduar again! The mount is awesome guys but it is VERY noisy. Had to turn the volume down many times since i got it. But its design is brilliant, they did a great work here the developers. if you zoom with the camera inside the head, you can see like a compass, two tanks with a Green fluid like oil, and more, the mount got very good design details.
gotta a question : how exactly should I proceed over Yogg Saron with the guardians ? I mean you gotta kill him withoud assistance of them. How do you do that ? when they are aroud the circle in the middle of the instance ( port to Shattered Walkway) what do I do then ? NOT to talk to them ? thx !
771 runs and still NO mount... Dont know what's wrong... I dont think I've seen anyone with so many runs...
Hey guys with o without keepers? if no why ?
2 guildies have drop the mount this week. Maybe they increase the % for winter veil ? Or it's just the large number law ;o)
This likely goes without saying, but since I never would have noticed if I wasn't talking to someone at the time...
MAKE SURE YOUR RAID IS ON 25-MAN BEFORE KILLING HIM.
Much of the time - even if your menu says that the raid is set to 25-man before you enter - once you get inside it will actually be on 10-man (you can see which difficulty it is once you zone in on the top-left of your mini-map).
If you forget to look as you enter, there are a couple of other clues that you're on 10m instead of 25m once you begin the Yogg fight:
Losing sanity in the post-Sara phase - this happens on 10m but not on 25m
On 25m you will always get caught in a constrictor tentacle immediately as Brain Portals spawn - this doesn't happen on 10m.
NO MORE F***ING ULDUAR! After over 400 runs, it finally dropped on my 5th run of the week. Using lockout with one toon, and then running with the other 10. Good luck to all looking for this elusive POS lol
This mount seems to have no sounds if you fly RIGHT or BACK, but it has rotor sound if you fly LEFT, FORWARD or don't move at all. Is this some more recent bug or has it always been bugged?
After reading so many comments about people doing serveral hundreds of runs trying to get this mount (got this feeling i would have to do the same of amount of runs), i started two weeks ago, and it finally dropped just now (on run 32), thankfully i never have to go into ulduar ever again unless someone wants me to join for something:D
First kill... no mount. Will keep updated.
181 runs so far and no luck -.-
After 3 weeks of lockout farming on 4 toons ....BAM! Dropped after 12 kills for me.....now sitting at +300 mounts and wishing for the first time Blizz would actually put in the next Achieve (350?) in time for those currently working on it. Good luck y'all!
- Dropped after 155 kills using a saved lockout. (thought I had more, pretty sure I have them all accounted for though).
Not so relevant
- Someone in LFG chat was advertising their stream; they were doing boss mount runs. I said something along the lines of "I can barely watch myself do these runs, why in the **** would I want to watch you do them?" (in fun).
Then he told me he got his on his first no lights kill. And I said that if I happen to get this to drop in the next 12 characters I run through here, I'll watch your stream.
I kept my word, because it dropped on the very next character I ran. Obviously, I met
After running this on 5 alts per week this dropped for me on my 101st run.
Buy Draenor during Christmas 2014, create a Blood DK and boost a Hunter.
DK hits 100, run Tempest Keep for the first time as part of achievement farming since you suck at end game content.
Loot Kael'thalas, notice a weird looking icon... it's Ashes of Al'ar. You didn't even know he dropped the sexiest mount in the game. The Old Gods punish capriciously, favoring others through logic known only to themselves.
In between other mount runs, proceed to run Ulduar twice a week for about 40-50 weeks, missing a few weeks here and there. Nothing mind melting, but still, it's more dedication than normal.
Pre-order Legion, boost a Prot Paladin to level 100. Continue doing your normal two-runs of Ulduar for another 4 weeks before you remember you have this third dude.
After your usual two toons run and the pain in your heart starts to become unbearable, break in your shiny new Paladin.
Paladin's first run. Get Mimiron's Head. The Old Gods' Blessing bestowed once again.
: Always do mount runs with a fresh level 100. It'll save you 14 months. /s
It's posted elsewhere, but definitely run it 10 man then warp out and switch to 25 at Yogg. Saves that much hassle, and I never realized you could do that until my fateful Paladin run.
Got ashes last week after 21 KT kills. got mimis head this week after 22 yogg kills. bring on the dislikes
Easy and fast way to get this mount
I mainly use hunters and mages -caster/range- last fight may be little bit hard for melee
Also I avoid some bosses to reach Yogg-Saron fast
- Enter dungeon (25man)
- Talk to bran, jump on the bike and move fast -with speed boost (no3 action bar)- to the first boss, kill mobs then jump out of bike and fight the boss easily.
- Then go straight forward to Robot boss XT-002 (u can avoid 2 bosses on the way Razorscale and Ignis)
- Use Teleporter to "Antechanmber of Ulduar"
-Move forward (kill mobs on the way) and take stairs up to Kologarm
(here you can avoid two bosses as well (Assembly of Iron and Algalon)
- Kill Kologarn and pass him on the bridge and enter the main Ulduar Circle
-There is a Cat Lady boss "Auriaya" that you can kill her anytime as she passes, when u kill her the Teleporter on the Conservatory of life (the green jungle place) will be activated and u can jump to Mimiron (one of the 4 good bosses that u have to kill in order to open Yogg Saron Prison)
- From right enter the hallways and kill each of the "good!" bosses and free them :
If u need the mount u
talk to any of these bosses for their help against Yogg-Saron: Hodir, Thorim, Freya and Mimiron
1. Hodir on halls of winter (note that he drops 2 loot chests on left and right of the room) exit after u kill him, come to main hall, enter second hall on the right where Thorim is
2. Thorim: enter the hall "Clash of Thunder" Kill mobs on the way till u reach the boss main hall.
You can see him standing up there-u should reach him and bring him down to start a fight:
- kill all the mobs, then on your left side of the room u see a door with a lever. if all mobs are dead u can click lever, open door, and go all the way to the boss, he will jump down
fight him and free him and come back to main circle hall
3. turn right and enter the green garden place where Freya is, better to kill mobs along the way and engage her fast and kill her.
on the way back if u already killed "Auriaya the cat lady boss" u can see the teleporter is activated and u can easily use it to go to "Sparks of Imagination" where Mimiron is (this takes less time than u take the train to him
4. Enter Spark of Imagination and engage Mimiron, 4 phase fight :
first three, each are a fight that u have to fight a part of a big robot, and finally he combine altogether and bring him down fast (PS: Dont push that buttom behind him that says do not push this bottom, if u do u will have a hard version of the fight that takes long.
After u kill him use portal again to Conservatory of Life
Now all of the Guardians are free and they are standing on the hallway, If u want Mount, do not speak to them to gain their help.
- Enter the Halls of memory (behind Freya), kill mobs and open the big door, go down and Kill General Vezaxx, the last boss before Yogg-Saron
(u need to know that there is no worry for u to kill him, it is very easy)
Rule: If u lost your sanity (from 100 to 0) u will die, but dont worry ;) Sanity is a buff that u got from the boss as soon as u enter his room, u can see it near your map
- Go to the pool, and kill the mobs that Sara (the lady in the middle) spawns.
Look at her dialogues (red ones) as soon as you see: "I AM THE LUCID DREAM" get out of the pool.
The head of Yogg-Saron comes up, but still u cannot kill him, kill tentacles
If a tentacle gets u, simply right click on it to attack it or your pet comes to your help
**** You need to know when the Portal phase starts, it tells u if u have DBM
As soon as portals opens, jump on one of them
you will be in one of the couple of possible places, but the mechanics are same
Here is the most important part, u need to kill all the "Neutral NCPs" there, they have a yellow health bar on them, when u kill them (fast) u see the inside Mind of the Yogg-Saron (like octopi or something)
Kill it fast, and take the portal out (or u get out automatically)
U can Nuke the weakened Yogg-Saron now and loot him.
Wish u can loot your mount
This mount really does make you loose your sanity, just like Yogg-Saron himself, but after farming for goodness knows how long on several characters the mount finally dropped.
I was feeling a little lucky after equipping
Talisman of True Treasure Tracking
(after lots of farming might I add)
and decided to see if it was a coincidence or if this thing really worked.
Was very surprised when I got the drop, infact I probably sat there with my jaw hung open for the first several minutes. It could be complete coincidence, but after hundreds of runs - what is there to loose? Grab an amulet
(Obtainable from Garrison Missions or NPC in Shattrath City, Darkmoon Island and Kun-Lai Summit)
and have a go - remembering to post below if it works for you!
If you are actively farming
, I would highly recommend clearing Ulduar one week - inviting a friend or guild member before killing the Yogg-Saron and passing on your lock to them. This way you can have them extend the lock each week and not have to buy lockouts or have to clear the instance each kill - which is what drove me insane more than anything. Simply pick it up from your chosen friend and bypass the lengthy clear in future runs.
Keep going lads and ladies, it is very satisfactory obtaining this after such a long time farming! Good luck :) x
Don't hate me, but I got Mimiron's Head yesterday, on my second Yogg kill. I was all set to settle into a weekly ritual of the lockout, figuring it'd be months before I got it. And there it was.
Of course, this means I'll never get Ashes of Al'ar now.
This seems to be one of the most elusive mounts to get.
Somehow it always feel like I'm doing it in such a way that the mount won't be able to drop..(as in: clearing the instance on 10N and then changing it to 25N for the Yogg-kill..).
But I guess it's just a constant chain of bad luck so far..
Finally got it. dont know how many tries now, but its been close to 200. Just remember not to lose hope!
I've seen more and more people on this mount recently, not sure if it's an increase in drop rate or the raid invite trick but it's inspired me to have a go myself :)
Just dropped for me after 193 tries. I have 2 accounts, every week I cleared to Yogg on 25 man while 2 boxing, skipping Razorscale and Algalon. I would then use that save to kill Yogg with my 13 alts.
34 tries using the alt invite method, which surprised me since my luck with mounts is awful. Happy days, good luck to all ^^
337 tries for me, just got mine this morning. Keep trying folks!
Dropped today for me after 75 tries. 1/3 runs with alt share method. Happy asf cool mount :P. Good luck.
Seem to be quite lucky with this, 7th try and it's mine. Can confirm the alt invite method works perfectly for this as I used that for the last tries.
Mount farming has been testing at times; thankfully been running 11-16 characters through each week for the past few months. Appreciate the comments here about how long it took to obtain them, as it let me know I wasn't alone. So here are my stats according to Rarity (there probably an additional 20-40 kills on each before I started using the addon):
Drake of the South Wind (mostly 10m): 437 kills
Smoldering Egg (Rag, 10m): 303
Vitreous Stone Drake: 252
Swift Zulian Tiger: 102
Fiery Warhorse: 93
Mimiron's Head: 82
Ashes of Alar: 38
Jade Direhorn (1in20): 49
Riding Turtle (1in200): 124
Spineclaw Crab (1in60): 180
I am at 640 attempts have completed the Legendary mace on 5 toons just off Yogg kills FML i use the extended lockout on alt method as well :( the pain is real
I am the lucid dream
The monster in your nightmare
THE FIEND OF A THOUUUUSAND MOUNT RUNS
My #1 favorite mount.
Ok, I just got mine tonight and can confirm you don't need to kill all the bosses to get it to drop.
Some people have questioned if this can drop if you skip the bosses using the glider or shadow stepping through the door that leads to Vezak, I killed FL, XT, Kolo, then shadow stepped through the door skipping all other bosses and just killing Vezak then Yogg!
that was my 53rd Yogg 25 kill on my rogue, not sure how many kills I had across my other toons.
This was my luckiest mount drop next to Galleon (2nd kill). Took me about 50 runs to get this.
304 kills and counting, kill me please :)
Just got it. Lucky me.... :)
after 740 attempts Finally !
RNG truly is a jerk. I got this after 6 attempts. Ashes of Alar...343 attempts on 5 toons and still no success. Good luck and keep at it.
Took 53 kills :D. Now you can skip first 5 bosses. Just take the 1st teleporter as you enter to ulduar TRAM go kill mimiron, come back and run through the section that leads to mimiron killing the trash and do the rest of bosses that you need to open entrance to Yogg.
got it today after 233 tracked kills cross chars. gl everyone I hope that it will drop sooner than that to you!
Got it after 15 tries total (2nd week of farmig)
You can now skip most of the bosses at the start by using the teleporter straight to Ulduar Tram as you only need to kill the 4 keepers to unlock the gate to Yogg'Saron.
Never run Ulduar before. Decided to do it for the achievements. This dropped for me. First Yogg kill ever. XD
This mount dropped after 167 runs! Will not miss this raid!
Some things I've learned from farming this mount:
You don't need to kill any of the add towers leading up to Flame Leviathan. The only adds that are necessary to spawn the boss are the last pair of iron giants that guard the gate leading into Ulduar.
You can now, as of patch 7.0.3, teleport straight to the Ulduar Tram by using the teleport pad directly after Flame Leviathan. From this point hop on the tram and head towards Mimiron. Once he's been killed, take the teleport back to the Ulduar Tram.
From there it's best hook to the right towards Hodir. I found this way slightly quicker because of where you end up after Hodir is defeated. Leaving Freya for last so you can empty out your bags using any mount/toys/ect. in her room.
The Ancient Gate of the Keepers opens up next to Mimirons hallway. Kill remaining bosses General Vezax and Yogg Saron. gg
go straight to Flame Leviathan
teleport to Ulduar Tram
ride tram to Mimiron, slay him
teleport back to Ulduar Tram
kill Vezax and Yogg
continue to fine tune suicide note after mount never drops
RUN TIME ~19 MINUTES
Despite being called mimirons head, This mount is a drop from 25 man heroic yogg with no keepers.
NOT Mimiron. Don't make the same mistake as me!
Just dropped for me today after aprox 40 tries on Ulduar and not evey week. It's one sweet ass mount.
Dropped for me today after 80 attempts. So happy right now
Just got mine to drop yesterday! Took so long, but such an awesome mount!
Is this still true for 7.1? Yogg+0 on 25 man and a very small chance to dropping?
Drops from Yogg-Saron in 25-player mode if you have no Keepers assisting you, and as of 4.0.3a (a.k.a. Cataclysm) has a very low drop chance (previously 100%)
Just an FYI for those farming this mount as of yesterday i noticed that you can skip the beginning portion of Ulduar by clicking on the teleport next to the motorcycles it will ask you if you want to go to the tram from there you can go straight to Mimiron and back track back to the other bosses to kill and than go to Yogg.
I finally looted Mimiron's Head last week after farming it 8 times a week for the last 3 months, one of my top 3 fav,Very nice mount^^
Ulduar 25N - Path of Least Resistance (Minimal Bosses/Walking)
After a bit of doing this over and over, I've realized that the bulk of the bosses in
(25N) are entirely optional. I've written up the path I take that results in the smallest amount of work. That means as few bosses as possible, and as short of a walk as possible. (Thus the smallest amount of time possible.) Keep in mind this will not help you much with the achievements in the place. This also assumes you are a level/gear/whatever that is capable of soloing
25N. Keep in mind that at level 110 you can walk right by most of the trash mobs (even without stealth) and they will ignore you, this saves a fair bit of time.
Path of Least Resistance:
- Get yourself to
- Ensure you are in 25N or 25H. (The mount only drops in 25 man, and both normal and heroic are equal to normal since there is no heroic Ulduar.)
- Enter the raid.
- Walk to the Teleporter (just inside the purple bubble on the right side before you leave the safe area, no need to talk to anyone).
- Select "Teleport to the Ulduar Tram"
- Enter and Activate the Tram. (Wait for it to get to the other side.) Then exit the Tram.
- Return to the Teleporter just up the stairs from
- Select "Teleport to the Ulduar Tram" again. (It's on the other side of the tram from where you are now and is much faster than taking the tram back.)
- Exit Mimron's wing by walking down "The Corridors of Ingenuity", kill whatever gets in your way.
- You will arrive back in "The Observation Ring" (
the cat lady does NOT need to be killed unless she gets in your way or you want to.)
- Kill each of the bosses in a clockwise order, in other words, continue with each boss and exit their area by turning to the left as you exit. (
(don't forget you can mount in
's area), then
- Continue clockwise around the bottom of the ring after killing
. (By where
would be if you had come in that way.)
- Don't talk to ANY of the bosses standing in "The Observation Ring"! (You CANNOT have help from any of them. If you do, the mount will NOT drop!)
- Enter the "Hall of Memories." (The Ancient Gate of the Keepers will now be unlocked, you don't need to kill anything to be able to open it. Just walk up and activate it.)
- Once in "The Descent into Madness" you only need to kill
to open the door.
- Continue on to
. (Keep in mind that at high levels, even the boss going berserk isn't enough to kill you, so there is no need to panic.)
Good luck! You just got through Ulduar on a fresh run for the mount and only killed 6 of 14 bosses.
What's the drop-rate on this? Just killed Yogg on 25 man w/o any assistance from the keepers and it didn't drop.
Farming Mimiron's Head for years on 11 chars per week (you all know how cruel RNG is)...Today dinged level 100 on my mage, did artifact quest line and went to Ulduar, half an hour ago, guess what, first kill & mount dropped! This was the longest mount grind, Invincible was pain as well but Mimiron's Head took much longer and it was really pain in the ass!
Good luck to everyone who farming it & never give up!
Mimiron's head FINALLY dropped for me today so I figured I would make a guide letting everyone know what I consider to be the most time-efficient method of farming it, assuming you use several characters per week to farm the mount.
A few facts:
How many Yogg-Saron 25 man kills did it take before the mount dropped for me:
Did the mount drop for me on the character that I used to clear the instance up to but not including Yogg-Saron:
Was the character that I used to clear the instance up to but not including Yogg-Saron still in the party when the mount dropped:
Was the character that I used to clear the instance up to but not including Yogg-Saron the party still the party leader when Yogg-Saron was pulled:
Were the 2 characters in the party (the character that I used to clear the instance up to but not including Yogg-Saron, and the one that the mount dropped for) from the same account and server:
First off it should be noted that while farming this mount I was doing it across 12 characters, I also had their hearthstones set to Summer's Rest aka. Pandaland becasue there is a portal there that takes you to the Northrend version of Dalaran which is a fairly short flight from the Ulduar instance.
Once inside Ulduar 25 man with your first character you must clear the instance up to but not including killing Yogg-Saron. This is so that you can use the first character as an instance lock out for the others. The fastest method to clear up to Yogg-Saron is as follows.
Upon entering the instance go to the teleporter and teleport to "Ulduar Tram". Instead of getting on the tram turn around and make your way back to the middle of "The Inner Sanctum of Ulduar". Then kill Auriaya, then Hodir, then Thorim, then Freya. Once you have killed Freya you are able to take the teleporter from "The Conservatory of Life" to "The Spark of Imagination". Doing this allows you to get to Mimiron without having to ride the tram. Once you have killed Mimiron take the teleporter back to "The Conservatory of Life".Head counter clockwise around the room util you get to the "Hall of Memories" and head down that corridor and kill General Vezax. Once you have done this you have unlocked the telportation pad at "The Prison of Yogg-Saron".
DO NOT KILL YOGG-SARON
as you will need this character for the instance lock out. Hearthstone out of Ulduar.
Make a party on the character that has the lockout that nobody will likely join (I made a party for Naxxramas 10 man because who wants to go there) and make sure you check the box to auto accept people who try and join. Log out of the character and into a different one and join the party. Fly to Ulduar and upon entering the instance you should be prompted that there is a lockout for 9/17 bosses, accept it. Go to the teleporter and you will be able to take it directly to "The Prison of Yogg-Saron" kill him. Repeat step 2 on all the characters you would like. I know that this process is a little bit tedious with the logging in and out but it is much faster than clearing the instance on each character.
I hope this guide is useful and it can be applied to other instances. Happy mount farming everyone!
i was running around doing old achievments in june 2016, when i decided to do Glory of the Ulduar Raider 25 player, never done Yogg before this, did the 3 keepers thing, and i got the mount first shot.
i thought it was a 100% drop chance and told all my guildies about it, but i never tried to prove the theory.
did it again tonight and no mount drop.
guess i was just lucky
I just wanted to say thanks for the guide. First ever run and I got it! Thanks!
Just came by to say that after a long grind, I got it. I stopped counting when I reached around 300 kills, so I'd say it took me around 300-400 kills. This grind almost drove me insane, but it was well worth it.
Finally got this mount! This is one of the most unique mounts in the game, you got so many horsies, birdies, cats, mooses, rockets, etc but there is only one head you can ride!
Here's an updated guide for farming this mount in Legion, combining info from multiple older posts plus my own runs. This guide assumes you'll be running on multiple alts that are at least level 100, and I've added some tips accordingly!
Enter raid on 25 Normal > teleport to tram > kill 4 Keepers + Vezax > exit raid > create custom Group Finder Group > join group on alt > enter raid with alt > accept lockout > teleport to Prison > murder Yogg in his thousand faces > repeat on other alts.
Two good ways to get there from Legion
. From the main portal room, use the portal to your shrine in
, then the portal from there to Wrath/Northrend
. There's also a portal in the room below Legion Dalaran that takes you to Wyrmrest Temple in
. From either location, it's a short flight over to
Off we go...
Set Ulduar to
Enter Ulduar and clear the 4 keepers + General Vezax.
Don't kill Yogg-Saron!
You can skip a lot of the raid with the teleporters! The first one is next to the opening in the wall across from the raid entrance. It's the bronze spinning disc on the ground that pulses green.
Right click and select "Teleport to the Ulduar Tram" (or "the Spark of Imagination" if available). Kill Mimiron there, teleport around to the other 3 keepers and take them out (Freya, Hodir, and Thorim), and then finally murder Vezax.
If you need help, see the individual bosses on the
page. They're super easy to kill at 110 but some of them can be glitchy (especially
Use the teleporter outside Yogg's room to return to the entrance ("Expedition Base Camp") and exit Ulduar.
Create a custom group in Group Finder, make sure Auto Accept is checked, then log out while still in the group.
and join the custom group you made. (Search by title to find it more quickly.)
If your main and all alts are in the same guild, you can also set group finder to private so you don't have to worry about randoms joining. (Thanks for the tip, serisx!)
If they're not, then the problem with Auto Accept is that other people can join your group. If that annoys you or creates problems, don't check Auto Accept. Instead, after you join the group on
, you'll need to log out, log back into
, accept the join request, log out, and then log back into
. It's annoying but it prevents others from joining if you really don't want them to. (I just kept booting any stragglers who joined. *shrug* Up to you. YMMV.)
to become group leader (it's short; 60 seconds or so) and set/double check you're on 25 Normal!
you'll also need to reset the instance on this step so Yogg pops back up! So, become leader > set 25 Normal > reset all instances. No need to on
, but you'll have to do it on any alts after that.
Enter Ulduar on
and accept the lockout. It should be at 5/16 bosses killed.
It could be 6/16 if you happened to run into Auriaya on your clearing run. :) Whatever it is,
Yogg's name should be green
when you mouse over it, meaning he hasn't been killed.
If his name is in red, DO NOT ACCEPT!
Exit the instance and do the "reset all instances" thing I mentioned earlier to reset him. Then head back in and check again.
Teleport to "Prison of Yogg-Saron", kill him in the face (the bottom of
is a good guide if you need it), LOOT!
No mount? Repeat steps 3-8 until you've gone through all your alts.
When you're out of alts, you can then log back into
for one final attempt this week.
Remember to become leader > double check 25 Normal. I recommend entering first to check if Yogg is up and, if not, only then heading back out and resetting. I've had it go both ways.
Or, just keep extending the lockout on
indefinitely so you don't have to clear again. I prefer to do the extra run instead since clearing up to Yogg is so easy each week that it doesn't take much extra time, but it's up to you!
Cry and return next week to repeat your failures. At least Ulduar's pretty and good for the ol' transmog collection.
must remain in the group (DC'd) at all times!
You should only be rotating
s in and out. An alt that's already killed Yogg can be kicked out to make room for fresh alts. In fact, you may have to boot a previous alt and then reset the instance again if Yogg won't pop back up.
If something else goes wonky on you, you can always switch back to
and start again at step 4.
Good luck! (•̀o•́)ง
FINALLY! After years....YES, YEARS, of running this on multiple 'toons this finally dropped just now for my 104 hunter.
Now I can cancel my account and live in peace.
Just a quick note that while standing in the pool with Sara that you let the Guardians target you before you kill them or it will not effect Sara's health and you will be standing there for a really long time. It takes 5 kills then get out of the pool to start the next phase.
I'm on my 588th my this week farming with 9 toons each week for about 2 years without passing a week. Seems like no chance to drop for me. I wonder If I'm doing it wrong. I just kill keepers + general and do lockout share with premade group trick with my alts. Should I kill every boss except Algalon? :(
Today I'm on my 630+ runs 8 characters left so far still hoping for getting it as a christmas present.
I think Yogg-Saron got into my mind and playing with me. Every week without drop of Mimiron's Head , I'm losing some of my sanity. Good luck to all fellas out there trying to get this chopper.
Late edit 25.04.2019
Got my Mimiron's head on 800ish tries. on 07.03.2018. I wish you the best luck fellow collectors! <3
Dropped on my, I don't know by what count, probably close to the 100's.
Can confirm the following;
* Do NOT talk to the Guardians/Keepers (Mimiron, Freya etc.)
* NO HARD MODES needed (completet it on a lowleveld alt).
* Keep at it <3
With the new scaling and the apparent inability to set the raid to 25 man (solo), how does one now farm for "The Head"? Thanks, Blizz...
The quest starts with a dropped
on the ground by a mailbox in Dalaran. Respawns approx every 2 hours.
is also BoE and a copy is mailed to you upon completion of the quest, so you can give it to a friend.
- First you'll deliver it to Madam Goya in the Underbelly
- From there you'll receive a mail from the Postmaster summoning you to the Dalaran Mailroom.
This room, accessible by the pet cemetery, is crammed with elementals, junk mail, even a Pepe overseer!
- You'll then sort 9 pieces of flying mail.
- That turns into
: you will deliver 1362
(this is a throwback to
The Bank of Vernal
in Utah, USA)
, someone has forgotten to loot
and you must return it to them.
You will have to fight with ethereals trying to ninja-loot it.
- You'll then head to the Steam Pools in Feralas and find
- He already has Invincible and demands you sell the duplicate to
- After returning, he then asks you to visit his SparklePony's grave in
- When you reach the grave, you learn that Twinkles' favorite toy was
- Yay for the minigame part of the questline:
You are asked to sort 15 letters correctly in a minute.
City and zone names will flash on the screen, and you must click on the proper mailbox for each continent.
Completing this finishes the main Postmaster questline and awards
- You now have access to the advanced minigame, where you must sort 30 incomplete letters in a minute.
Completing this rewards the
achievement, the title, and
toy is also now in your mailbox as well!
RIP Transport portal to Ulduar Tram, you will be missed :(
Don't forget to loot the new chest that spawns at the entrance to Yogg's room!
I checked the loot tables for the new Normal and Timewalking for Ulduar and Mimiron's Head is no longer listed. It's one of the very few rares that I don't have. I guess I won't be farming that place anymore unless they fix it.
Is it lockout sharing method no longer possible after 7.3.5? Or is it just me?
Finally got this yesterday so yeah it still drops even though it's not in the adventure guide and it looks like your running 10 man :)
If you wonder if mimiron's head still drops after the changes in ulduar where 10/25 has changed into one instance:
(in a different message they stated the loottables of 10 and 25 man are merged)
a question and answer on twitter from wowdevs:
WarcraftDevs Retweeted Matt
Yes, Mimiron's Head is still available as a drop from Yogg-Saron, even though it doesn't appear in the Dungeon Journal.
Can Mirmirons Head still drop in Ulduar? It's gone from the loot table #Warcraft @WarcraftDevs @Warcraft @BlizzardCSEU_EN @BlizzardCS

As of 7.3.5, I just had
himself, not from the new hard mode loot chest (Cache of the old gods) that spawns near the entrance door of his room.
got it on the second of February 2018, was trying to get the sword abbadon, now I can finally use a roflcopter to soar high in the air!
I like to put out here, that I have finally snagged this mount! Rarity says 9 attempts, but I just recently downloaded the add-on and over the course of the last few years, I'd say no more than maybe 50 as I have no consistently farmed it! Good Luck Everyone!
Rarity says 489, but this is well over 500 kills easy. Probably closer to 600. I'm still in shock. Thank GOD I don't have to go back to that hell hole any more.....
Finally after 113 attempts drop <3

Drop rate is too low. It took me 238 kills to get Mimiron's Head. With 7.3.5 patch have been remove 25 players difficulty but it still drop on normal and timewalking difficulties.
Don't forget to not talk any guardian.
Sharing lockout between pjs works perfectly, I used that method with all my pjs.
Dropped for me today, 141 kills over 5 toons took about a year! GL and don't give up. I nearly did a few times
Just to reiterate what others have said. I received the mount 3 days ago so yes it still is in the loot table and it also drops from yogg himself NOT the loot chest. Good luck!
The shared lockout still works in 7.3.5
as long as the main character is the leader of the group when you enter the instance
with the alt, the main
can be offline
when you enter as long as he is still the leader of the group.
I just got mine at the end of January, after...…. three actual runs. I got my first subscription in January as a late Christmas gift and after reaching 100 I ran the dungeon trying to get adabbon, and low and behold it dropped, I was excited, confused but mostly amazed at how quick I got it.
As of 8.0.1 You can no longer loot his corpse but the chest at the entrance to the encounter contains all the loot that he should drop. The mount should also be in the chest if you can get it to drop.
Its bugged to say 10 man normal even though I set it to 25 man heroic
Can confirm that the mount drops from the new 'Titans Cache' box. Finally got mine today!
drop chance says its 46% is this accurate?
Well this mount is ruined for me. Just noticed we still sit as though mounted on a saddle.
Currently on around 1500 Ulduar runs with 2 accounts. Never seen it drop. I am pretty sad :D Good luck to all farmers!
Just dropped for me on my 101 ret pally alt around 9:20 pm on Kirin Tor.
On her very first run in there. Her first raid mount ever. After hundreds of run on my hunter main.
So for those still grinding, it does exist!
Given what all else has dropped on my ret since I started playing with her through the old raids I think it may be time for a mount misery journey on her and see what else gets dropped. Her luck has been so crazy I wouldn't be surprised if I'm just tooling round in Northrend and crash into the TLPD.
Finally dropped on my 110 Void Elf! :)
Thank you to my other 15 Alts who attempted the mount via the Raid lockout.
Mount finally dropped for me on 10/31/2018 from the chest !
I used raid lockout because is the fastest way to farm the mount.
Here is the proof...
I would like to confirm that this still continues to drop, it drops from THE CHEST in Yogg's Room.
I got it on November 15th, 2018. I did the raid-lock sharing/creating a group for alts. Been doing it on six characters each week for a couple months now.
Best of luck!
Still dropping, finally got Head (from the cache) on the 98th attempt. Many here had longer dryspells and I feel for you. My hundred times was torture and I'd give up for months. Never again Ulduar! >:(
My main and several alts are engineers for life and only use mech mounts. This is my crown jewel, pixels have never made me happier. Don't give up, it was all worth it now. Happy hunting.
Do I need to talk to Norgannon? What condition does the raid need to be in? I have is set to Mythic and 25, but that changes to 10 while inside. I know how to do raid lockout and need to set the raid up right the first time.
I got it today on my 48th try.
Before entering the raid I always set it to 25 normal when my char is next to the entrance (it's gonna show 10 man mode on the map no matter what you do :D ). When I enter the raid, it says in chat something like raid groups set to 6 coz maximum players are 30, I assume that actually means it's on 25 man mode. It says different if you enter in 10 man.
Then I talk to the left guy, Dwarf. I used the motorbike, and press 3 to increase the speed of it (when you get to the gates, to drop the agro from all adds, leave the motorbike and then use the it again, adds gonna reset if you do it right, or use vanish etc)
Mimiron (always did it with red button coz more loot, don't think it matters tho)
DO NOT TALK WITH ANY NPC
Loot the chest.
P.S. the full run takes 15-17min, depends on the class.
I just got it and celebrated with huge swig from my JD flask.
Raid set to Normal, 25 man (will change to 10). Did not talk to Norganna. Used raid lockout. 7 alts. Did not check how many times it took. Don't care.
Best to park all your alts at the entrance. Level 100 warrior did just fine.
that the mount drops after Patch 7.3.5. The achievement shows a completion date of
July 7, 2018
. So keep trying!
Just got this on the first try while trying to do the ulduar raider achievement, pretty dumb mount but ill take it lol.
Got the mount on my first kill, was going for the glory of the ulduar raider 25. I wanted the mount from that achievement. Sorry to those who have been farming it. This happened to me with Ashes of Alar too, I got it on my third or fourth kill.
after 167 attemps on one character finally dropped for me - this is a whole new way of flying !
Took me almost a year between five characters doing it with a total of 168 kills between them to finally get this to drop today. Good luck to everyone still after this!
just got it whilst running for mace fragments, 2019 - is mount special broken or does it not have an animation?
I had posted this as a reply to another comment, but since I'm seeing people have trouble with the raid lockout sharing in 8.0 and beyond, I decided to post this as a direct comment. If you have a toon with a lockout at Yogg that you want to share with your alts, do the following:
Step 1. Toon with the lockout makes the group, stay out of the instance.
Step 2. Log off, then onto another toon, sign up for the group. Log out.
Step 3. Log back into the first toon (With the lockout), accept the application and convert to raid (Still outside of the instance). Log out.
Step 4. Log back into the second toon, accept invite.
Step 5. Go into the raid, kill last boss. Exit instance. LEAVE GROUP DON'T KICK THE ORIGINAL.
Step 6. Repeat forever by making the group again on the first toon.
EDIT: Important note about step 5. Once you accept the group invite, you need to enter the instance BEFORE you get leader. Then, when you kill the boss I like to wait until I'm the leader before I leave the group and exit the instance, just in case it would affect my original toon's lockout.
so will this drop on a solo run or not?
Finally got it last week. It was as said, 25-man Normal with no Wardens to assist you.
Total runs: 112, across 5 alts.
Just saying this because I started having doubts at some point: It is not required to have do the questline in the area or regarding Ulduar. After 100 tries I started thinking that it might be a factor, but I was waaaaaaaay off. Character who dropped it was a Demon Hunter who, naturally, hadn't even gotten close to Northrend.
Just keep farming and may Lady Luck smile upon you.
So... is it possible to solo 25-man, or 25-man version is available only in time travel now?
And is it possible to loot this mount from 10-man version?
Dropped for me tonight. took years.
I'm seeing so many different answers to this question so I have no idea what the truth is so I'll ask in a while new comment: Can i solo Yogg and have a chance at the mount or so I need at least 10 people to make it go to 25man for the mount to drop. If its the latter then I am sooo *!@#ed as I cant think of 10 others who'd come and Not want the mount if it drops.
Dropped for me today after casually deciding to run it for %^&*s. Can you call that beginner's luck?
I can confirm that it does still drop from the non-timewalking raid version. 10/29/2019 9:20pm central
I went through The Storm Peaks zoned in.
Minimap icon showed "10" (apparently still counts)
I talked to the Dwarf to start the first boss. (Probably does not matter but just giving extra details)
Pressed the button for Mimiron fight.
Did not have any helpers for Yogg-Saron
Probably not relevant, but I used the item for the legendary mace quest. So I got both the mount and the mace with one final kill.
Good luck everyone, happy hunting.
Can confirm as of this date, the mechanism of getting alts in for just the last boss described by ToOurRoots still works!
(Wowhead isn't letting me add to his comment) :(
I finally got mine after 421 attempts - 18/03/20 at 09:17 AM. Dungeon was listed as 10 man, so this is still dropping as people have mentioned previously.
Keep on truckin' if you're missing yours.
Can confirm as of 8.3 April first 2020 that you do NOT need to kill algalon to get the mount AND it can be solod. I KNOW that this is already public knowledge, but if you're a paranoid wacko like me and you dont trust it till you see it, heres your proof! What an ironic day to get my mount, April fools day! Thankfully it wasnt a joke!
I got the mount taday :D following the same steps listed by ToOurRoots.
One thing you don't need to do is you don't need to convert the group to a raid. When you join the toon with lockout just go to the instance before you become the leader since the lockout ID is based on the leader ID. Go inside kill yogg-saron and leave.
Got this today. 118 kills listed in rarity but I've lost data a couple of times, a conservative estimate would be over 200.
I don't think anyone has mentioned it doesn't have a /mountspecial animation. It jerks slightly like it's animation has been interrupted for 0.1 seconds but nothing happens.
Found the fix to alt farming Ulduar. This works 100% of the time but has to be completed exactly in this order. Does not require multiple accounts either.
Enter saved Ulduar with main (I go to Yogg-Saron's Lair)
start LFG in legacy raids
log out and on to alt
request to join group
log out and on to main
log out and on to alt
ZONE IN BEFORE LEAD PASSES TO ALT
wait for lead to pass
BOOT MAIN FROM GROUP
kill boss and fail at getting Mimiron's head
leave instance and
Side Note: If you want to be super efficient with your time, set all of your alts' hearthstones to Bouldercrag's Refuge. The flight path to storm peaks and then flying into the Ulduar instance takes about 75 seconds. It takes approx. 92 seconds for the lead to pass to your alt so you will be zoned in still before this happens. This allows you to use your alts for other things throughout the week and just hearth them back before you log out. Also skips the wait time for logging out of your alt when you're flipping back and forth. If you have the brutosaur mount you can post auctions after you zone in but before you port to Yogg's lair. I'm realizing as I type this.... I've done this way too many times....
Finally got to drop in 2020.....
I can confirm it still drops using alt lockout methods. Dropped for me today.
Dropped for me today after ~150 Yogg-Saron kills across 4 different characters on US Sargeras. I did the
in the raid every time I visited; skipped every boss possible and never enlisted the help of any keepers. I do want to point out that I did not use any raid lockout shenanigans or trickery when doing my weekly runs. I don't typically have a lot of gold between my characters, so the extra boost from selling and auction housing materials wasn't a bad deal for a few hours of my time.
I don't know if the info above helps anyone, but I know my faith would start to fade after weeks of not seeing this mount drop. I would often come here and check to see if it was removed from the game, but there was always that one person who "just got it" a few days prior to me checking. Keep at it and you'll eventually get it!
: Found after 36 attempts!
Dropped for me today. Omg moment . Entered as 25 hc but shifted as 10 normal. I understood that there is no more normal or heroic, just normal 10. :)
It dropped just now after 266 attemps! Finally, the days of making a DK, leveling him to 70 and then making a DH to get one more try per week are over :-) What should I do with all this time?
is it good luck to get this on your first ever run?
Does it only drop on Hardmode with no help from the watchers?
Hundred of runs and still nothing. I'm starting to feel desperate. Doesn't help either that Ulduar is such a long raid. Looking at you in particular Mimiron...
Got this to drop after 113 attempts. For those curious, the exact path I took was:
1. Talk to Brann (did not talk to Norgannon ever)
2. Fight Flame Leviathan
3. Fight XT-002
4. Fight Kolagarn
5. Fight the 4 keepers (Hodir, Thorim, Freya, Mimiron)
6. Fight Auriaya (not sure if you have to but I always did)
7. Fight General Vezax
8. Fight Yogg
-- Do not talk to any of the Keepers after defeating them --
This might have been posted already but I wanted to just give exact steps in case others were wondering as I was.
I'm not gonna lie, this one might test your sanity... pun both intended and not. Just in BFA alone, over two years and 12 alts (13 with the start of Shadowlands), I have run Ulduar OVER 1100 times. That's not counting the years past of only single runs on my main and that's also taking into account that I didn't run every single alt every single week, but it was close enough (I certainly didn't get them all through the first week of Shadowlands).
Had I known it would be this long, I would have kept closer track of it, but who knew? Even Ashes of Al'ar didn't take this long and I only did single runs on my main. You have to remember, "RNG gonna RNG", there is no "diminishing return" on how many runs you do and the idea that there's a way to measure when you SHOULD get it, even just by luck, is completely false. Some people do get lucky, others have to slog it out until the end of time. I got the black mammoth from Vault of Archavon on my second run, Onxia mount on my 10th, but Invincible took hundreds of runs and I STILL DON'T HAVE the Blazing Drake from Dragon Soul after all these years. The smoldering ember wyrm from Return to Karazhan took me a year and that had a whopping 20% chance to drop.
I can confirm, as others have here, that you need only take down certain bosses. Choosing the difficulty level makes no difference, it will always switch you to 10m reg (this was for the Time Walking version of the raid for the flex-raid mechanic). This is my exact kill order and what I did and still got the mount:
Some notes about the pre-Flame Leviathan gauntlet
Choose the bike, it's the fastest and if you time the use of the speed boost just right, you can use it constantly without slowing down and not lose any energy. The path you choose makes no difference, everything will come after you.
When you get to the three groups of Iron Dwarves at the end, ride the wall around them to take out the two large elites guarding the gate. You can use the bike, but it's faster to jump off and kill them.
As soon as the guards are taken out, jump back on your bike to reset the massive horde of Iron Dwarves that have been following you. The three groups of Iron Dwarves guarding the gate do not follow this mechanic, thus the reason for skipping them. They are easy to kill, but if you're on a class with no AoE or one that needs to be charged, you'll be forever trying to kill them all while Flame Leviathan is punting you around like a gnome dressed in a soccer ball.
1: Flame Leviathan (no hard mode, but probably doesn't make a difference). Caster class warning, he will bump you around while you are trying to cast. Have paitience, you will get off a few hits. Use instant casts when possible while it is pushing you around. It is possible to kill him with the bike, but it takes forever.
2: XT-002 (no hard mode, but probably doesn't make a difference)
3: Teleport to Antechamber
: Most mobs you can run around or between if you're trying for speed. Also, from this point on, when you defeat one of the four main watchers, DO NOT talk to them for the special buff. The mount only drops on Yogg's hard mode and you cannot have help from the watchers to have it active.
4: Kologarn (he doesn't have a hard mode, but killing him with arms still intact sorta counts as hard mode)
5: Auriaya (still not clear if you HAVE to, but it does unlock all the teleporters and shes on the way anyway)
6: Hodir (his hard mode is stopping him before he destroys the second loot cache. I personally never freed the iced mobs, maybe one or two by accident.)
: Make sure to run AROUND the big circles leading up to Thorim's pedestal (after you've opened the gate to get to him) so you don't get the extra stun. You cannot avoid his weapon stun, however.
7: Thorim (hard mode makes no difference, hard mode is if you defeat him with Sif still in the room)
8: Freya (she will pull her plant minions if they are too close to her, note for non-AoE classes)
9: Teleport to Spark of Imagination (this is why you kill Auriaya first)
10: Mimiron (hard mode does not make a difference, I pushed the button because it's faster than waiting for him to stop talking on normal mode. Also, there seems to be a range issue for melee regarding the head when all three are combined, sometimes some classes can hit it, other times they can't)
11: Teleport to Conservatory (this is why you kill Auriaya first)
12: General Vezax (no hard mode, but probably doesn't make a difference, plus it takes FOREVER for hard mode to finish)
13: Yogg (you're automatically on hard mode as long as you didn't talk to any of the four watchers.
All other bosses are optional. If you're doing loot runs and don't mind the extra time, go for it, but if you're wanting to squeeze out every second you can, skip all that you can.
Doing all of this, I can complete a whole run in 20-25 minutes depending on class. Some have speed buffs, others just slog along like wading through mud. So far, my monk has they fastest run time with three speed boosts that all have ridiculously short cool downs. Tiger's Lust, Roll x 2, Flying Serpent Kick (in that order too). I think I can clear a run in 17 minutes with her. Next closest is my druid in travel form and almost able to one-shot anything, but no AoE for group mobs. My main, a hunter, can complete a run in almost 20mins flat. That's almost no stopping (unless I need to waiting for loot or other mechanics) and using Aspect of the Cheetah after every CD, which is mostly when a boss is defeated because it will be reset AND trailblazer enabled in talents.
I'm so tired now. I need a rest.
*edit* Updated some of the notes for the run up to Flame Leviathan to make it more clear.
Finally dropped for me on 02/02/21. Basically confirming everything everyone has said. Keep trying! :D
Just dropped. Still in game.
Mimiron's Head is one of the most sought after mounts for mount farmers in WoW, and if you're looking to farm it out yourself I believe I can you help you out a bit.
You will most likely not get this to drop on your first try, but what if you could get 1 try per alt you have that is high enough lvl to solo Yogg-Saron, without having to spend 20minutes reclearing the raid on every character? Well you can. If you clear the raid up till the Yogg-Saron, you can share your raidlockout with your alts, by using the Dungeon Finder Tool. You have to create a group, log onto your alt, then sign up, log onto main, invite your alt, log onto alt and accept invite. Head into the raid and you'll be in the main chars lockout. When the leadership transfers you want to kick your main character, this way the main character will not get saved, as you kill the boss. All of this can be done in less than 5 minutes, per character, which makes it so much more efficient to farm it out. If you want an indepth guide with visuals, check out:
Happy Farming Mawwalkers.
Dropped for me on 03/30/21. Followed Jeolene's post for boss kill order. Only difference is that I used 2 accounts. One account cleared up to Yogg and kept extending lock-out, and then invited my main and alts from the other account to kill Yogg for (attempts at) the mount. But keep trying, it does eventually drop!
302 attempts later I finally got this sick mount. I do the same run everytime from beginning to end, this run was no different. Flame>XT>Kolo>counter clockwise titans>vezak>yogg. I was a little more bloodthirsty on the trash on my final ever Ulduar run but for anyone thinking that a run has to be slightly different to get different loot, it doesn't. Also I was doing the alt-lockout style of runs for a year but recently switched to full running it in case I was doing the alt-sharing lockout thing wrong.
decided to have mercy on me during my mount run on my Rogue alt last night and drop
after many many years! The mount drops from
on roughly a 1% drop rate. You must defeat the final boss of
while no keepers are active. There is only one version of the instance, so you don't have to worry about the difficulty of the raid. For those of you still farming the mount, keep your heads up, it will drop eventually! I'm rooting for ya!
Here's the video of the mount dropping!
If you want to go for the lockout method, the most efficient way would be:
-do the 'full' run (without Yogg) on a very mobile class (Monk, Dh and Druids would be optimal but it's technically just a matter of a few minutes). Once you cleared all but the end boss, take the teleporter to the entrance and go out of the raid
-before you list the group on the 'main' character (the one with the ID), go onto your alt of choice and fly to the Ulduar entrance, but do NOT go in yet. Log out and go back to your 'main'
-Now you can list the group, using the group finder tool. It doesn't matter where you list it, just give it a name that you'll remember. Log your main out and go back to the alt
-Look for the grp in the tool and request to join, go back to your main
-on your main char, after you invite your alt, turn your group into a raid by right-clicking your icon and selecting it. I have tried doing this without it, but this step seems to be important as it didn't work without turning the group into a raid first. Log main out and go back to your alt.
-after you accepted the invite, just go into Ulduar before you get the lead (if the lead of a grp goes offline, another member gets the lead after roughly a minute or two, which is why you want to park your alt close to the entrance in the first place). You don't want to wait until your alt is the lead because otherwise you won't get your main's ID. You can check fast if it worked by hovering over the teleporter, if you can interact with it, you've been successful. Port yourself to Yogg and kill him like usual
-if you have another method of teleporting back to a big city (Dalaran hearthstone, mage teleport etc.), I'd recommend setting your hearthstone to Storm Peaks (there's a neutral inn to the north-west, very close to the raid) for your alts - will save you plenty of time.
-repeat this on your other alts and good luck with the mount!
some misconceptions I came across are that you
to extend the ID of your main for this lockout method to work. You only wanna do this if you do not want to do a full run again as you can keep the ID for the next week. However, note that you have one chance less per week as you cannot kill Yogg on your main. Also, you do not have to kick your main once you're in the dungeon - not only will disbanding your group port you to the next graveyard after a minute and thus put you on a timer, it's also simply not necessary. You will
get an ID for a boss or instance if you aren't in that said instance, and since you parked your main not in but outside of the raid, there's nothing to fear.
I've done this over a thousand times over several characters. I've wanted this mount since it launched.
I also hate this raid.
At this stage I think the real reward now is never having to do this %@^$ raid ever again, not the mount.
Just got this off an
Unclaimed Black Market Container
. It also got me the Feats of Strength achievement
And I'll Form the Head!
. This was definitely good loot from a BMAH container. I haven't been having good luck with those lately. Supposedly it has less than a 0.01% drop rate and so that tells me this is something that would likely sell for millions.
Got it today after about 60 attempts. Good luck!
