This seems like a easy way to get exalted with Kirin Tor. No more grinding one dungeon to get exalted, now you can do any and still get rep with them. Also worth noting that unlike most tabards you can get it at friendly, so the rep gain from it will actually be useful. Looks pretty cool also, and not hard to get by any means.
Hopefully blizzard implements more tabards with the same effect.
This can be bought by
He is at the top of the stairs in the Violet Citadel.
Honestly it makes scene for a tabard to help you gain rep, you are representing that faction. it is also slightly less World of grindfest of bliz, which is very nice
A little to over-exaggerated, imh; comes off as more "purple and gold dressy thing", then "Eye of Dalaran". I was hoping for something closer to the original tabard seen in the Dalaran NPC's in Alterac and elsewhere.
You can get that now --
You buy this tabard in the Violet Citadel in Dalaran from Archmage Alvareaux (Kirin Tor Quartermaster). He is located at the top of the stairs.
As a mage you start with friendly reputation with the Kirin Tor.
(I found that out by surprise when my friend made my level 50 mage a portal to Dalaran).
Can anyone confirm wether or not the reputation gain is in addition to the normal instance faction's reputation, or instead of? The tabard isnt really clear either way.
One of four tabards that can be equipped to self-select reputation gains in Northrend dungeons:

If you want this tabard for a bank alt or anything. You first need to create a mage because mages already get friendly with the Kirin Tor. Next just spam or ask a friend to port you to Dalaran and then buy it from the
You will need 1 gold though.
Exactly lets enjoy it before bliz hits us right in the shlong with the nerf bat.
Wearing this tabard as a paladin makes me go to change my auras all the time. >.<
Around how much rep do you get for one instance in lvl 80 HC's?
Thanks for your help :)
It's worth noting that even a level 1 mage can buy this and equip it since mages start at Friendly with the Kirin Tor faction. I did it with my mage at level 30.
They may change this, though.
The buff provided by wearing this tabard looks like
, for the record. You may be able to fool your PvP opponents into thinking there's a paladin with you. ;)
Posted above, somebody asked why this does not work in level 80 Raids and only in Dungeons...
Well, if you read the tabard, it says "Equip: You champion the cause of the Kirin Tor. All reputation gains while in level 80
will be applied to your standing with them."
Please notice that I underlined the word dungeons and I made it nice and bold.
This is because the fact that you auto-gain rep with them just for running an easy Heroic is TOO EASY itself, it has to be a minor inconvience to have to run a noobish Heroic then go to on a raid, therefore making is a slighter pain. And we all know thats Blizzards goal =P
Another thing about the tabard ( and any of the other reputation champion tabards) is that while wearing it in an heroic run and making achievements in that run, you get 250 rep points per achievement, which is pretty sweet, i dont know if anyone else has commented on this but it is sometimes an overlooked fact.
To borrow a comment from someone on the Wyrmrest Tabard page, that downward-pointing oblong shape at the bottom part of the tabard looks ... well, it looks kind of like a ^&*!@. I'm not attaching any editorial value to that statement. I'm just saying.
Perhaps I just have a dirty mind, and a few friends of mine agree with me, but doesn't the front flap look a little... obscene?
this tabard can be gotten by any mage (1-80) because they are automatically friendly with Kirin'tor.
I have just bought this as a level 1 gnome mage...and it was only 95s..seems kind of weird lol.
Frank 'N' Beans, without the beans...
What I did: I made a BE mage and the first thing I did was send 10g to it from my main. I went to Silvermoon and once I got a mage to port me to Dal I went and bought one at level 1. As a mage you are automatically friendly with the Kirin Tor, and you can wear this Tabard until level 80. Though it doesn't give any buffs at level 1-79 it's still really cool to have. Really rare and cool if you are a twink mage. Plus it just looks cool :P. One of the few items you can wear from level 1-80 without being a noob :).
Non-mages who want to get to friendly with the Kirin Tor should do the quests around Amber Ledge and Coldarra in Borean Tundra.
Good to have on level 1 mage twink, cause you start as friendly with kirin tor when playing a mage :)
The tabard has a phallic symbol. "Kir" in Persian means penis (vulgar). So "Kir"in Tor Tabard lives up to its name.
Not that there is anything wrong with that ... no not all.....Seinfeld
I'm having problems buying this tabard. It says that I cannot purchase another one of these items yet I don't have one... don't have one on me nor in my bank.
The Illuminati are everywhere... even on our tabards in WoW!

If you are level 90 and planning to solo your way to exalted I recommend doing the following.
If you do not yet have Friendly (as required to purchase this tabard), do some of the quests listed on the site below.
When you reach Friendly you may purchase this tabard. After purchasing the tabard, wear it and go to the Nexus (in Borean Tundra). Make sure your dungeon difficulty is set to 5 person (heroic). You should be able to solo this without any problems as this is a level 80 dungeon. You will recieve about 22 reputation for every person you kill in this instance, so it won't take many runs to reach exalted. The same goes for Halls of Stone and Halls of Lighting. They can both easily be soloed on heroic for a lvl 90. You may also do the dungeons above on normal mode (as many times as you wish every day) but they will just give you half the reputation on normal mode. I therefore recommend doing as many heroics as you can every day.
When you reach exalted with Kirin Tor you'll get most of the vendor items in Dalaran for a cheaper price. The most popular being
, which will cost 16,000g instead of 20,000g.
Good luck with your reputation farming!
As of 8.2.5 you can no longer get rep on normal mode with this tabard, have not tried the other tabards yet.
Heroic - Halls of Lightning - 3383 Reputation
Normal - Halls of Lightning - 954 Reputation
All other "original" Level 80 Dungeons still work on Normal and Heroic.
Only the upscaled ones don't work on Normal.
