My random thought on the meaning of the "1 hour cooldown" is this: glyphs will be "equipped," and the cooldown is to prevent you from continuously switching between two equipped glyphs.
Edit: Glyphs no longer show the 1-hour cooldown. I am unsure whether there is still a hidden cooldown, but as of 3.0 glyphs can only be "equipped" at a Lexicon of Power.

It's interesting to note that both Intercept and Shadowstep have a 25 yard range. As long as you Blink with your back turned against the rogue/warrior, you'll end up more than 25 yards away from them (25 from Blink + a few for their melee range).
Granted, Deadly Throw can still reach you, and if they move faster than you do (Hamstring/Crippling Poison), they'll get in range again. Still, this is enough to spark some serious interest in this glyph for me.

Same as anyone, I'd really like to have a blink spell that does not make me embarassed when cast... I've lost count of the number of times I've been laughed at for blinking backwards ^^

have 25yd range so if you have no slowing effects and a bit of luck the rogue cant reach you :) Blink after Cheap Shot and then kite him and be fast with trinket if he uses 35yd range

It seems that having this glyph equipped can prevent you from blinking through some invisible walls.

I've found, personally, that

combined with this improves AoE farming. More blink distance means more distance you can put between the mobs and you and the sooner you can pop off your blizzard. Highly highly recommended!

Why this is a Major glyph we will never know, it just screams "Minor" in my opinion. I don't know anyone who has it.

I think many people fail to see the hidden benefits of this Glyph; when you get 5 more yrds between you and your enemy in PvP (who of course is snared, you are a mage right?) you have more time to cast longer spells such as Pyroblast, or even Fireball or you're speeced Fireball for some reason in PvP. This also give you a couple of seconds for blink, and other spells to finish their cooldown before they reach you.

This glyph screams warsong gulch, especially since those ramps got fixed, and you're no longer stuck on them when you blink.

personally, I hate this glyph...
I have spent the last 3 years getting used to how my mage works.... I can tell you before I use the spell where I will come out. Now, if i were to increase the range by 25%, it would screw me over big time. Also, there are way better end-game glyphs, so I would have to get rid of it. And then learn to get used to the old range again ...
I really wished they had done something like.... makes it cost no mana, or increases movement speed after use ... something like that ...

This glyph is wonderful for fire pvp where you need all the range you can get, it really makes a noticeable difference.

He's not not speaking about Old Iron Forge for example, because of course, no one would EVER use an exploit to check out unfinished zones. Especially at the crack in the textures, right near the throne room, where the combat dummies are, or that one near the battlemasters, just next to the doorway arch which of course, doesn't not exist...
But yeh, at some of the comments above. Its seems most useful against DKs to remain out of range of death grip, while breaking chains of ice. (similar cds on both too). Like yourselves, I'm also not convinced its worth sacrificing the last slot to lose the utility of other majors (ice barrier e.g.) for the 3rd slot.
On my wish list, I'd rather have seen it remove silence effects and snare effects or something. Since it IS supposed to be an escape mechanic. (give a little 5sec grace where you are immune to both or something).

This is probably one of the most underrated glyphs out there.
5 yards means a +25% improvement to Blink, a skill with a nearly spammable 15 sec cooldown that all mages use endlessly in PVP. Think about it. This glyph adds
+25% effectiveness
to that 1 skill that mages rely on for survivability and CC mitigation.

As of 5.4 this glyph DOES NOT WORK. I have tested it, and it is not increasing the distance of blink at all. I hope blizzard catches onto this.
