Where does it come from and how hard is it to get?
Tyrael's Hilt comes from the Paris Worldwide Invitation (WWI) 2008 goody bag.
One per visitor to WWI 2008
Speculated to be a print run of 8,000.
How much would I expect to pay for one off eBay or similar?
(most information sourced from there), the lowest Buy It Now price starts around $400 USD upwards to $800 USD. The price should remain steady and higher than the BlizzCon murloc items as it has the extra appeal the Diablo genre.
"Mini Tyrael" is the in-game name of the Non-Combat pet.
The pet is a miniature version of the Archangel Tyrael from Diablo 2.
redeems for Horde on upper Trade Quarter, Undercity.
redeems for Alliance outside the Auction House in Trade District, Stormwind.
Useable at any level and therefore available for twinks.
I have the 25 digit loot code, now what?
All accounts from every region in the world use
to redeem any and all special loot. This webpage allows you to enter the 25 digit promotion code and also select the region and realm for the character that will receive the loot item.
Upon succcessfuly submitting the above information, you will be presented with an in-game code. Write this code down or print it out; you will need it to retrieve your item. Log into the game with the character that is to receive the item and travel to Undercity for Horde, or Stormwind for Alliance. Find your Tyrael representative (listed in "Facts" above). Ensure you have got bag space to hold the item otherwise the item will be sent directly to your mailbox.
How to get the code/goodie bag
If you have google-skills (translation: Knows how to properly work search-engines
, in this case ebay's) and check the
international ebay sites
, you can actually get this relatively cheap.
Many ebay members
ship internationally, even if they do not list this option (just ask before bidding), but the "world-wide"
will only list items that
international shipping, so you won't see all the items unless you go to
) Try out various search words and
, instead of sticking to the obvious ones... e.g.:
The french word for bag is sac
Some sellers do not mention "blizzard" in the item title
Some use the acronym "wwi", others spell out "invitational"
Some use "key" instead of "code", some only use "card"
What is the lowest going price?
I've seen the code sell for as little as 150 $US on
And in case anyone is wondering:
Mini Tyrael WILL work with
Papa Hummel's Old-Fashioned Pet Biscuit
It is confirmed that Mini Tyrael does NOT fight with
I just picked up mine today, and confirm that it does react to certain /commands, such as /dance. I'm not sure if any others work at the moment as mine wont stop dancing now.
yes, he reacts to /dance but i have same - he is now dancing all the time lol :D
resummon works to stop him
blizz should totally make this guy fight mini diablo!
will help (# 7)
Got mine from Penny Arcade Expo, 2008. Blizzard was giving out the Paris Worldwide Invitational cards as prizes for trivia contests. I had to name all 7 Diablo II classes.
Little dude is all the rage when I pull him out in Orgrimmar.
wow this is so cool as a pet, who have this will look as a old hero, what all glory be in one who get this type pet.
Tyrael owners across the World (of Warcraft) rejoice!
As of patch 3.0.2 this guy will be
instead of bound to the character that redeemed it - and even better, when you "learn" it with one character, the account bound item will remain in your inventory allowing you to send it to another character who can then learn it.
This item is also one of the many new Bind to Account items.
This means you can send it to any character on your Realm/Faction.
When using a Character Realm Transfer these items will also follow you.
The sad part is probably half the people who got the code don't even know who he is /wrist.
has the absolute best "idle" animations of any non-combat pet!
He will respond to the
command and proceed to bust some moves of his own. Anyone can target him and type the command out to get him to start grooving!
Also (as of patch 3.2), while idle, he will occasionally
- lying first on his back, then adjusting and rolling over to his side, where he continues his snoring, and even scratches his rear! He will then wake up suddenly with a powerful shout animation!
It's also worth mentioning that his "flight" height has been adjusted and he will now float at shoulder-level with the player.
It seems that Tyrael no longer does the shout sound and animation upon waking up, or it is far less frequent than it was previously. I have had him out for extended periods of time and not heard the sound whereas a few months ago it would happen all the time.
On the plus side though he seems to fly faster when keeping up with you while on a flying mount so he is less likely to get out of range and become unsummoned!
Yes I can confirm that Mini Tyrael will keep up and fly by your side on your flying mount!
Mini Tyrael will look great next to my Tyrael's Steed when i get it next patch, owners of Tyrael's Hilt will you be getting the steed to complement your pet? :)
WANT! It would fit perfectly with my
Now valued around
$1100USD, making this one of the most expensive digital vanity items unrivaled even by the
Swift Spectral Tiger mounts
. At the current market value, you could purchase two Spectral Tigers for the cost of one Tyrael's Hilt and still have enough for 6-months of game time.
EDIT: At around $2,000USD the
Blue Murloc Egg
has currently become THE most expensive digital vanity item in WoW and (to my knowledge) in all mainstream games.
Looks very cool.. Wish I had it..
Just make a Pre-made Level 90 on the PTR and it had this pet, BUT I can't learn it talk about blizzard trolling hard.
woooowww I would like to have this
What type of companion is this please?
I'm not a huge fan of some of the Humanoid pets, but this guys is awesome!
I think if you bought Diablo III this should of came with it
This is by far the coolest pet!
Even having played since closed beta and getting my hands on some of the rarest pets out there, this truly still trumps all of them TOGETHER and then some. It drew a crowd in whatever city you whipped him out in even back in the days of TBC - I can only imagine the reaction and /w spam you'd get now!
Beautifull pets ;)
This looks awesome... I had a look at it in the give away section and I have to say... I WANT ONE... it will however only have a true appreciation for people that plays Diablo... But it will still make a fine addition to my collection
Unfortunately This can't be caged. I have one on my wifes old account and I would really like to get it.
In my opinion, the greatest pet ever. I wish someday Tyrael's Hilt and I shall cross paths, but today is not that day.
ABOUT THE CARD
As mentioned this pet was a free gift for attendees of the 2008 Blizzard Worldwide Invitational which was a international, smaller-scale Blizzard convention in the early years which was hosted in international locations Korea (3 times) and France (once.) At these conventions players and industry were invited to try Blizzard demos and games and in 2008 the invitation, 8,000 in total, also included this pet code.
Similar to TCG there is a panel on the plastic invitation you scratch and a code is revealed which must first be redeemed at Blizzard's promotion retrieval page :
(you must choose region then realm to obtain the in-game code.) On your selected realm, once you have obtained the in-game code to redeem you either visit Edward Cairne (Undercity) or Ian Drake (Stormwind) and 'whisper' the code to them. The pet is then placed in your bags and you can not trade it and once learnt you can not cage it.
As of August 2014 the sell price is between $1,300 - $2,600 (from current cards on the web) and please note there are many fake sellers out there trying to cash in so if you are a collector, or someone wanting to buy this for a player please buy with caution, never use direct deposit as a form of payment (hard to retrieve your money back from bogus sellers) and if buying from Amazon or eBay please read the feedback first, read the description (for any shifty fine print) and contact the seller asking them to take a picture of the card (unscratched side up) with either your name or a code word written on paper next to it to make sure the seller is legit. If a seller is unwilling to do so or makes an excuse, walk away. Another thing to check is the image of the card on sale sites, simply drag the picture into Google image (
) and what that will do is see if that same pic is listed anywhere else, great way to see if the picture/sale is a duplicate, if so it's most likely a fake listing. Lastly if the current image is cropped that's suspicious, all Tyrael cards have a serial number stamped on the code side of the card along the edge, get a picture of that code! Next contact Blizz CS and ask if that card has been used (also search other auctions to see if the same card with same serial number is used on any other bid.) This is a last resort if you truly want to buy the card but unsure about the seller because something is raising a red flag. If the seller refuses to get a picture to you showing that serial number printed along the side, again, walk away. I've only put this here because I know many a broken hearted collector who has gone through the headache of trying to retrieve their money back after the sale was fake.
ABOUT THE PET
This pet is a brute!
Holy Justice is a 100% stun!
Teamed with a pet which can deal Call Darkness Tyrael's Surge of Light is another powerful stun.
Restoration is a first move heal.
Just think of the team possibilities, it's quite powerful and I've yet to have him fall on me.
Also as a humanoid he will recover health after each hit, so that pared with Restoration makes him hard to kill, even against an undead.
Out of Battle
Tyrael likes to bust a move just cast /dance and watch him go. Once upon a time he always danced but now he does stop (unsure when that was implemented.)
Poor baby gets sleepy so will fall asleep, even in mid air, and while snoozing with scratch his derriere... it's pretty funny.
Do I have to pay for this?
