Reference to Super Monkey Ball mirite?
The spell is called "Going ape".
You're going Bananas!
One cool thing with this trinket is that it works with mirror image! 4 monkeys fighting is just awsome :D
Just got this today on my paladin. Checking the character sheet after using, I'm not seeing any white damage or AP changes (as hinted by the Going Ape buff)... Haven't really tested the damage itself, however! The effect will be removed if you take off the trinket or try to mount, but doing general combat tasks seem to be fine. The hour cooldown is pretty lame though :(.
Can druids use this in forms?
One dropped off the air elementals in northeast Storm Peaks for me. I can't remember their names offhand but anyways... I got one. Will use the buff on next raid for fun. :)
The visual of this effect is removed when you mount up, but the buff isn't.
Was farming leather in Storm Peaks when it dropped for me off a Roaming Jormungar.
If you have the Orb of Deception and this trinket, you can use the Super Simian Sphere first and use the Orb of Deception in the 2nd trinket slot, and you can be the opposing faction in an arcane bubble.
EDIT:Also if you have the World Enlarger that Gnomish Engineers can use, it works in combination with the Sphere and Orb, so use all three and jump on your Epic Flying mount for some sort of confusion to everyone else.
Seen two of these drop now and both times was in Heroic Utgarde Pinnacle. We were just before Svala Sorrowgrave when one dropped one day, then two days later in approximately the same spot they dropped from trash again..
But as others have stated it is a world drop so best of luck when you see it.
The most meaningless shared cooldown?
so all it does is turn you into a monkey inside a ball? thats it? the end?
If you use this plus the Orb of Sin'dorei from H, Magister's Terrace, you will become a blood elf in a bubble! Not overwhelmed? Well, the bubble is twice it's normal size!
Edit: Screenshot was accepted so now you can see for yourself.
The awesomeness of this trinket cannot be matched with words!
Dropped today in Heroic Violet Hold off Moragg.
We had this drop in Naxx10 and our tank got it and proceeded to tank while in simian form. It looked quite amuzing.
Portable Anti-Magic Zone
RE: The modified AP aura, I asked a GM and he confirmed that the trinket had no purpose other than to be funny.
Also, if you're a warrior, use this trinket then pop last stand and both the ape and his bubble will turn bright red.
When transformed, you can also use some
on yourself to become a mini Simian in a Sphere. :)
For those of you who read "Super Monkey Ball reference" but have no idea what type of Game Super Monkey Ball is Here is the Link to WIkipedia
Super Monley Ball
It is Available on Nintendo Gamecube.
I also have it on my Iphone for fun when im bored.
A very vivid and zany game.
And now we ask the inevitable question:
What has science done?
Although i know this item is a reference to Monkey Ball, the first thing that comes to mind for me is the praying Draags in the movie Fantastic Planet.
If you have no idea what i'm talking about, check 1:55+ in
this little clip here
When I saw this effect, the first thing that popped into my head was "Pink Bubbles Go Ape". An album released in 1991 by the German metal band Helloween.
This item just dropped for CTSamurai on Neptulon EU. As the item was being raidrolled for, our masterlooter was going "this person would never, ever say no.." That's when I knew I'd won. :D I'm extremely happy, I'm exactly the kind of silly person who enjoys these items. I look forward to experimenting with this baby! The cooldown is a bugger, but I'll live.
I have the item on cooldown right now, but when it comes off of it I shall try to use
(the furbolg rod) with it! Furbolg form + vanilla-WoW firewater + monkey ball = awesome, surely!
Note: The comment above was about to be downrated when this comment was written. Sure enough, the name is a
reference to Super Monkey Ball.
However, the main bubble in Super Monkey Ball is not pink, and the choice of words around this trinket do not seem so random. The description states
"Go wild in a bubble"
and the effect uses the word
. The description could easily be read as
"Go ape in a pink bubble,"
making the visual very likely to refer to the Helloween album,
Pink Bubbles Go Ape
, which is very popular amongst metal fans.
Some Blizzard artists are known to love rock and metal, thus making the reference even more likely to be true.
and (the remaining)
all state similar bands as their favourite music.
I think this also is a reference to an album released by the German Power metal band Helloween. The title of the Album is Pink bubbles go ape. While the other references listed above sounds equally likely I think that it fits a bit to well with the album title to be a coincidence
I got this item from the Hulking Horror on my first kill (Epic lol).
just dropped 1st mob in AN HC:)
i just got this today, was laughing at it for about 15 mins, nonestop.
got it from a revenant in wintergrasp
Just got mine off a Ravenous Jormungar while doing Storm Peak dailies. Extremely rare trinket...only seen like two on my server
Pretty sweet ^.^
There is an odd bug with certain spell animations and the gorilla inside the bubble. For example, we have a shaman with this in the guild and when he casts Chain Heal while using this trinket, the spell effect fires from a few feet above the bubble, despite the monkey down below playing the casting animation.
since druid can go flight form and still apear as an ape in a ball... SUPER FLYING MONKEY BALL?
i have The super Simian ball, and when i was Running H- Cot Cos. i used it, To show off and as i was fighting i noticed a few times that i got like a Pet Damg. coming up. and along with a random ( Deflect ) Sign coming up so i have reason to belive that it Defelects Spells (Minor chance) and Adds Like a little pet damg. i am not sure about stats yet. it Also increases attack speed. i have tested it on Training dummys and all i did was normal attacking. i had a Meter that told me what my attack speed was and such. and when i was X-Formed. i attacked faster. i hope this could help people better understand what it does. (Contact me on wow: Name: Chewbaka Server: Mannoroth, im an 80 rogue.)
Two good places to farm for it are Onslaught Harbor, and packs of Converted Heroes at The Conflagration. Took me about 17k kills. Gl.
Heres a Link to
the Ball In Action
Why do people keep downranking when someone states that it could be a reference to Dragon Ball? I know when my guild saw it drop in Naxx, that's the first thing we thought of...
remember to keep ur trinket on for 5min when u are using it, or u transform back and have to wait for another hour =[
If you are a male tauren, use the usual items to grow like
Elixir of Giant Growth
. And go to Org bank or get 40 tauren to raid Stormwind with these buffs.
I hope this help
This should answer any confusions about the context of the item and what it references, the Super Monkey Ball reference is for the bubble, the monkey is in reference to the Super Saiyan race from Dragon Ball Z but the German spelling for simian is Sai'an, similar to the way it is used in Dragon Ball, but they both mean the same thing in context.
Someone please try this with a shaman. Something like this : Pop the trinket, use some enlarging item on you, then bloodlust ^^ Haven't tried this myself but will try to as soon as I get my hands on one of the Spheres :P
This trinket + Malygos Phase 2 = win
monkey bubble owns nax Ö
It dropped in naxx a couple days ago for our guild, and bidding got up to 2000g, but the roll winner wouldn't sell it! Looks sooo kool!
If you use this trinket, then Orb of Deception you get transferred in to your opposite faction + your bubble gets bigger. But the cool thing is. If you have an female character and you use this trinket. You turned into an (male?) ape. And if you then use Orb of Deception you transferred into male opposite faction. So basically you can become male and female with orb of deception + cool bubble. :)
You are able to joust with it in the new tourny =) i submitted a screenshot =)
Where do these things drop? World drop? Rare chance in a raid/dungeon?
This dropped for us tonight in H CoS... and I won the roll! It's a pretty fun trinket, and I haven't seen anyone on my server with it yet!
use it with an orb of deception, as a female BE i turn into a male draenei in a pink bubble!
I got this and was bummed at first that it was a BOP item. Then I actually used it and laughed my ass off. It would have been nice to be able to sell it, but the entertainment value itself it pretty high.
the Helloween album, Pink Bubbles Go Ape, which is very popular amongst metal fans.
agree with that :)
got the sphere to,pretty funny when you have to tank, and suddenly your tank turned into an ape
also works on flying mount and normal mount
Equip this along with a
Deputy Pa'trolla Badge
and watch the universe collapse around you from the awesomeness.
World drop, therefore it doesn't really drop off of a specific mob.
I got one of these and immediately thought of the Monkeysphere!
got this trinket in halls of lighting today, I play a shadowpriest and its funny to fight in shadow ape form :D
I was oh so lucky enough to see one of these drops and even more lucky to win, by one point!
I love this item, I love flying on my magic carpet with the buff on he looks really good on it! =]
I heard someone tell me they weren't dropping anymore so I'm saying dropping as of today(8/21/09)
Dropped today on a bronze drake run in Stratholme. I lost the roll, but persuaded the winner to sell it to me...gotta love the new loot feature in 3.2.
Why is there so many weird things in WoW?
I'm just asking..
We got the Orb of Deception, Pink Gumballs, World Enlarger, Noggenfogger, Path of Illidan and Cenarius and many more stuff, which I'm too lazy to write.
I bet we will get the opportunity to get a mechanical imp as a mini-pet, in the future major content patches aswell.
Hey that would actually be cool!
Saw this drop a few days ago in a 5-man party. I think it was Utgarde Keep. Not that it matters because it's no doubt a world drop epic, though I'm surprised it isn't Bind on Equip. In any case, we all rolled Need and I landed my first 100 on when rolling "Need" so I got my "Needy" achievement in the process. Two for one special!
Kind of a worthless item, as suspected the "buff" is purely aesthetic and it does unfortunately require itself to be equipped in order to keep the visual change. You can fight with it in any way you'd like, but it'll fill one of your trinket slots. That said, it's pretty hilarious DPSing as a gorilla in a giant, shiny purple bubble.
Of interesting note, you can use this item after you win it and still trade it to other people in the party. Using the item does NOT perma-soulbind it to you (this is limited exclusively for those who were capable of rolling on the item when it dropped, as is the case with any BoP item after the recent patch)
The 1 hour cooldown is excessive, in my opinion.
This item has been disenchanted 5 times.
Items that transform players in any area that aren't consumed:
Orb of Deception
- Transforms the user into a race of the opposite Faction.
Orb of the Sin'dorei
- Transforms the user into a Blood Elf.
Rituals of the New Moon
- Transforms the user into a Wolf.
Super Simian Sphere
- Transforms the user into a Gorilla surrounded by a Magical Field.
- Transforms the user into an Arakkoa.
Dartol's Rod of Transformation
- Transforms the user into a Furbolg. (ALLIANCE ONLY)
Iron Boot Flask
- Transforms the user into a Iron Dwarf.
- Transforms the user into a Wolvar.
Carved Ogre Idol
- Transforms you into an Ogre.
Feel free to comment on others i may have missed and I'll be sure to add them here.
The fact that this item has a Disenchanting tab makes me a sad orc :(
Somebody help me!
Where can I get this trinket?
I really want one! >.<
Please tell me if you know a way to get it!
Dropped for me yesterday at CoT while doing daily heroic.
I lost on 'need' roll. BUT i offered 8k gold to the owner and he accepted =)
It's nice to be rich
Now it's miiiiine
I found out that by using this then savory deviate delight and getting on your mount then right clicking the deviate delight buff while still on your mount you can be a
monkey on a mount
Removed by any type of zoning (mage portals, hearthing, and so on), mounting, and obviously by removing the trinket itself.
If you use any other appearance altering effect (Deviate Delight, Dire Brew, Nogg, etc etc) you will stop being a monkey, and become the pirate/dwarf/skeleton/whatever but still keep purple aura. Now, you too can be a sparkling pirate or a faaabulous dwarf.
This + druid flight form = win
It's well known that this trinket lets druids fly by popping flight form the the simian sphere.
However, there's another "flight form" anyone can use:
Gather a few elixirs from around the sewers, wait until one turns you into a wasp, then pop your simian sphere to become a flying ape in a ball. Your flight is limited to the sewers and a few choice areas in Dalaran where "no-fly" is not active. Take a look on the underbelly elixir article for my post on where you can fly, and do it with your simian sphere active.
One other thing: The gorilla model doesn't have a location on its model for quite a few channeled beam spells to originate from, and instead they originate from a bit above its head, outside the purple bubble. I can confirm this works for all the warlock channeled spells, drain life/mana/soul, as well as health funnel. The JC fun items that project a beam onto your target
originate form the gorilla's hand correctly, though.
Since patch 3.3 this trinket is apparently for Hunters since no one else was able to roll need on the item in the instance (it was won by a level 77 Hunter in Halls of Lightning).
I got 1 from Violet Hold heroic last night, dropped from 2nd boss. It's pretty cool, but the effect disapears sometimes without reason.
Dropped for me today, Christmas, off of Novos, The Summoner. Three out of my random group hit DE, the other said to hit need so i did and he hit greed! I consider it a perfect not overly awesome Christmas gift from Blizz in a way!
A funny little tid bit to add, i actually just seen this item less than a week ago on wowhead and never thought twice about gettin one!
This just dropped in a random heroic using the LFD system. Everyone in the group rolled "Need" but when I went to do the same, the button was greyed out for me and it would only let me "Greed". Very unimpressed shadow priest here. It's been weeks now since this patch was released, and it's not cool that they still haven't sorted out the glaring issues with loot....
*Edit* Well, looks like they heard me. I just saw this drop again in a LFD random heroic (ToC) and it let me roll "Need" this time! Unfortunately I didn't win the roll, but at least I know that casters can roll on this now. I was healing at the time, not sure if that makes a difference - the mage in the group rolled "Disenchant" and I didn't think to ask him if his "Need" button was greyed out.
Got this neat trinket off of trash in Old Kingdom today - The tables say 0%, so very lucky heh.
Is certainly a head turner. Fun trinket to use if you ever do actually get it. :-)
just got it few minutes ago cause of the bug <3
2 was able to roll me and someone else ^^
Droped in HCoS but leader had roll system on Need before Greed. For some reason Blizzard thinks clothies or at least mages don't need this, so I missed that roll.
yesterday i saw it dropping for the first time and i lost it it made me so sad :-( as big dragon ball fan it would be very nice to have some fun in the game. Still can't believe i didn't won it. /cry
please if someone from blizz reads this let us people have some more fun in the game and gives us more change on this one.
hmm, kinda suprised that no one has mentioned the song: Helloween - Pink bubbles go ape :)
I know what I'm about to say doesn't help anybody get it, provide any amusing information, or in fact accomplish anything, but I felt I should share this. Feel free to rate me down if I'm out of place, but the following people deserve a mighty large shout-out:
All from Ravenholdt.
I was doing a queue'd Pit of Saron run when I wound up with these four wonderful people. The ball dropped, we all agreed to Need on it, but for some reason my Need button wasn't working and it wouldn't let me roll Need. I asked if I could just pass and then /roll on it and they agreed. My /roll was highest, and even though Rhyan had technically won the need roll, she went ahead and gave it to me anyway. She didn't stand anything to gain from it, I couldn't pay her for it or in fact do anything useful for her, but she gave it away anyway.
I just want to say that it was absolutely *wonderful* to see WoW players like them. Of course, I wanted this amazing trinket, but more than that, they were amazing people who did the right thing just to do the right thing.
To you four, thank you for being so kind and thank you for being wonderful people.
And Rhyan, I hope you find your Hilt soon. =D
With the new LFD/ need before greed system, I'm unable to roll need as a cloth wearer. I've seen it dropped twice.
Yes, I know the bonus is attack power which blocks me from rolling need as a cloth wearer. But at this stage of the game that attack power is really weak. Only use now is the eye candy of turning into a ape in a bubble.
Apparently you can use this in any of druid's form. I saw a guy in Dal today using the glitch to stay in flight while staying in this form, so he looked like he was flying in ape form around dal.
Now I have this on my paladin. So I joined on the fun. But he was bragging how he could fly in his ape form while I can't. I then popped my wings and /flex which he simply replied "ZOMG". The irony here is that the gorilla who can fly is envying the gorilla with wings that can't fly.
You can also pop bubble for bubble within a bubble. Or freedom for some kickass disco effect. We eventually partied up and I Hand of Protected him while he was in flight. Made for some awesome screen shot~
This dropped in H VH and as a mage i could only greed it which was quite @%@#%@ as it seemed the melee could need it thus making it so i couldnt have a fair chance of winning it, seeing its a fun trinket everyone should be allowed to roll need on it..... once again Blizz fails. Not Happy.
Just ran a heroic lightning halls and it dropped 3/4 of the way through. After that was done I ran a heroic VH and another one dropped, this one I won! Very lucky indeed. I've ran hundreds and hundreds of heroics and have never seen this drop, hell...I've never even seen anyone use this trinket.
Looking at the available data, it seems this trinket can drop off anything as long as it's level 79+ and drops standard loot (no quest-spawned mobs and the like). No raid bosses have recorded entries, so they are probably the exception. Then again, they don't drop standard loot either.
lol just got this one in Hals of ligtning. didt know what it was. but it shure looks crasy =)
Looks rather humorous combined with the paladin ability Avenging Wrath, giving your gorilla wings of golden light.
Definitely a Super Monkey Ball reference.
The description used to say "Go ape in a bubble for 5 min." I am not sure when they changed it, but I assume they did so because people were thinking they meant "go apesh*t". :P
Apparently, if this drops in a random dungeon, cloth-wearing classes cannot roll Need for it. :(
If your tired of watching Druids with this fly above your heads while your a sad little grounded ape here's a trick for ya! Grab some Underbelly Elixers and wait for the dragon fly effect and Bam! flying Monkey!
Just had this drop for me this morning while farming for skins.
Time to pop out my pet gorilla and go "ape" chit while in form!
*no pun intented of course....
fun thing to do, is go flight form and hover above dalaran, nothing like flying apes.
notice a bit back... This was no longer possible. Not sure if bug or intended change
You can fight in combat with this. You can also take damage, had guildie tank HoS with this it was a blast to see a monkey bashing all the npcs skulls out. :)
dropped in H HoS, heirloomed rogue got it QQ
this is also usable with
for some awesome face melting fun in a bubble :)
A party member hitting you with Blossoming Branch after you drink an Elixir of Giant Growth will turn you into a big bubble-bunny.
As if DBZ wasn't lame enough when I was a kid.
it is now lame in my WoW. D:
well just found out 2 humorous things about this trinket, sitting in dal and apparently druids can use flight form while in this form (that's right flying monkeys)
another funny thing as i turned into one to join in the fun, activated my rocket boots and suddenly went flying into the air, now i activated them again for safe measure and it did NOT shoot me into the air a second time who knows why this happened but i will do this any chance i get
I just got this today but the how blew me away. I was doing Argent Tournament dailies and was finishing up the quest "You did it this time, Kul". I looted one of the Dark Zealots around the cages and a lotting confirmation popped up. I went back to see what it was and, lo and behold, it was the magical Super Simian Sphere! I was just absolutely amazed! I had seen this drop one other time in a dungeon and lost the roll, but I had no idea this could drop off non-elite mobs. Very cool little toy indeed. Funnily enough, I also won the recipe for Bad Clams in a Heroic Trial of the Champion run not long after looting this baby.
as of patch 4.0.3 does
still drop this?
Has some rather hilarious effects when combined with some of the new flavour items obtained from archaeology.
-Using this plus the highborne mirror will create another gorilla (or whatever else you have transformed into) - but it will be wielding your weapon!
-Using a transformation item to turn into a naga or wisp will do just that, but also, the bubble's size will change to reflect this. The one for a naga is typically huge.
-Using certain transformations will not cancel the bubble effect and still allow you to mount. This means that you can use them, mount, cancel the transformation effect, and enjoy your flying proto drake gorilla.
This item works with Arcanite Ripper
so you can bust out a face melter in your own light show. Add an Elune Stone
spotlight for extra epicness. For the full effect, throw down some smoke flares and have a couple friends shoot fireworks. Make an emote or yell macro announce your band name and "Rock and Roll!" and watch hordes of crazed fans come running.
also works with Druid's Flight Form... flying ape in a bubble :)
I know what I'm about to say doesn't help anybody get it, provide any amusing information, or in fact accomplish anything, but I felt I should share this. Feel free to rate me down if I'm out of place, but the following people deserve a mighty large shout-out:
Nope, the post doesn't entirely say much on how to get it. Nor does it offer much in the way of humor. But if you ask me,
posts like this definitely belong here.
More people should act like that. I know it won't do much for converting any rude or selfish people. But maybe it can inspire some people (who are
inclined to be that way) to remember that the anonymous nature of an online game shouldn't be an excuse to just be rude to everybody.
I have been farming this for a few days myself after ackowledging her drop rate for the Sphere. She has dropped many greens and one blue item. Her horse however did drop Signet of Edward the Odd (Epic DPS ring). I will keep you posted if I should happen to get lucky.
I wonder what happens if you transfom into the Sandstone Drake after uting this...
use Mirror image with this and your copies are monkeys too
I made a list of gimmick items which you can use to transform your character into a different form or race or even gender to play around with. I didn't add items like weapons that provide a procc with a transform effect that only lasts a few seconds even though I know about them. My intention was to list all items with controlable transformations. Feel free to let me know if I missed an item!
I want to thank all the people below my lists who pointed out items I missed! This list grows thanks to your effort as well! Thanks guys, you're great!
Transforms you into:
Molten cat while in cat form (Druids only)

Well what you can do with this and Archaeology is:
Use the trinket, then use Camo, then use
Bones of Transformation
. I'll post a screen shot of it later :).
Can anyone confirm if this item is droped by Sapph? Cause it says on this page, but when I enter to Sapph it doesn't show this item as one of her drops.
Btw if she does drop it, it is the highest drop with 0.3 and she respawns every 1 minute.
For all you seeking the source of the "Monkeysphere", you can reference to this article :
It explains "what is the monkeysphere". Going into detail how everyone is basically a monkey, and we can have a limited number of real close friends. Well, just read the article for the full story :)
Got this just a couple hours ago doing Utegarde Pinnacle for the Blue Protodrake. Ill be honest, I was more excited when this finally dropped for me than getting the Corrupted Egg from the Glory of the Firelands raider achievement last night.
does anyone has a good idea how to get this trinket i'm trying to get it atm more then 2 years and saw it only once?
Seen people farming it for years never won it, yes it's very beautifull but this trinket is doomed since blizz fails on making it available for people. I try to farm it for many years and saw it 1 time only but wasn't able to need on it. So it's a real shame that i saw many people leaving wow too.
Alright, I've become a transformation addict on my mage. I've started my Simian Sphere hunt with Sapph farming. Did this for a few weeks during off-work hours. This proved to be the least successful formula. I lightly farmed heroic LK dungeons but didn't go hard into it after. Then, by chance, I cross referenced Northrend World Drops with Inscription hunters(Book of Glyph Mastery). A good farming spot recommended was H CoS: You clear to gauntlet but don't talk to Arthas. Gauntlet respawns way faster then Sapph ever would. Currently: I farm every LK Heroic I can.(I avoid or never fully clear Occulus(difficult or impossible solo), Halls of Stone(God, that second to last boss is boringgggg), O.K.(Difficult to solo kill Blood Prince), Utgarde Pinnacle(I avoid killing first boss due to high death rate but clear rest). If my DK friend is online, we team up and 2 man the 3x Icecrown Heroics. So far, my hunt got me about 20+ Book of Glyph Masters, 3 epics(Je'Tze's Bell, Zom's Crackling Bulwark, Namlak's Supernumerary Sticker).
When I get instance locked(starting to be frequent!), I analyze the drop rates for outdoor mobs, Storm Peaks or Icecrown and farm them(Converted Heroes - Icecrown, Library Guardians - Storm Peaks).
G'luck fellow hunters!
So today while farming the Chosen Zealots in Icecrown to get my grisly trophies i got a
drop, Im not braging about it, just using for a reference that these mobs do drop them and are general easy to farm so might be a good idea for anyone
There seem to be a lot of useless comments here, so a summary of good info:
- This can drop off any mob above level 79 in Northrend or Wrath dungeons/raids.
- It has a higher chance of dropping off elite mobs.
- It can drop off boss mobs in WotLK dungeon and raid instances.
- It can drop while Timewalking in WotLK dungeons.
- There is no particular elite mob with a higher drop chance than normal.
- Thus far, there is no known instance of this item (or any other toy) being obtained from a garrison salvage crate.
- Sapph does not have the highest drop rate for this item, it just happens that people running the Wowhead client had this drop off Sapph slightly more often than any other particular mob when data was collected.
- The best way to "farm" for this toy is to kill elite mobs en masse. Thus,
or trash mobs in heroic instances are the best way to go. Naxx and Pit of Saron are the most popular instances to farm.
- The buff from this toy falls off if you take a portal or change zones
- The buff from this trinket falls off if you remove it
- The buff from this toy falls off if you mount, unless you are using other shape changing buffs on top.
- The buff from this toy stacks with various other transform buffs such as
- You can retain the bubble effect from this toy in druid forms.
- You can mount with the bubble effect if transformed using an effect or trinket which you would normally be able to mount with, such as
, Burgy Blackheart's hat, etc.
- You can be a gorilla standing on top of a mount by using this, using a transform like Burgy's hat, mounting, then removing the Burgy's buff by swapping back to your normal helm.
I myself "farmed" for this by solo clearing Naxx 10 every week on my DK, as every mob in it is elite and it's also a good way to farm gold, abyss crystals, cloth and other enchanting mats. Getting a higher chance for this to drop (off a Stoneskin Gargoyle, FWIW) was just a bonus. However, I have probably cleared Naxx on the order of 100 times (on varying difficulties) since Wrath launch and seen it drop only twice.
My hunter had this, and i was extremely happy because i thought no one else had it. After a year or so i went back to my hunter to find the Sphere missing! I was rather angry, and still to this day i have no idea where it has gone...
It's a great looking effect though!
This has got to be my favorite disguise in WoW.
my girlfriend found this on her lock and i got so jelly! she's yums on firetree :) say hi!
I accidentally passed on this, thinking that it was a normal trinket :/
Edit: Fixed links
The Original Vanilla Gorilla
Does anyone know if it's usable with
Would be awesome with an ape mount :P
A "friend" from my realm searched the chat for people to farm the Precious Ribbon, and he said the first one was reserved to him, the second one for me. I thought "Well, okay I don't really need it that much anyway..." Then it dropped on our 3rd run, so I was happy it was that fast. On our 4th run, we killed some trash but I didn't notice this dropped. Then he said "/roll". I was like "What?" but I rolled. I rolled 91, then he rolled and he rolled 67. Then he made this smiley ":O" and I just asked, "What did I win? :D" for fun. And he wrote "the roll xD". When we killed Precious, the shirt didn't drop. On the way back, he picked up the trinket. I saw it in the chat because he had ML on. Then I asked "What's that?" (I began in Cataclysm, never really played ICC) and he just wrote "MONKEYBALL". Then he used it and I realised that's a rare trinket making you to a monkey! (I really enjoy random model/colour changers, mounts, and all that) Then I was really happy, because I knew I won it! Then I traded him, but he refused. I thought he was playing games with me, so I just asked him nicely to hand it over. Then he said "You can for the shirt, not trinkets". I told him "We killed this trash together, I won the roll fair and square, just give it to me." And he refused. We had a long discussion about what's fair and what not. I didn't want to waste more time on that, so I went to Orgrimmar. Then I JUST found it how rare it is.
And what's worse it, I got the Orb of Deception (Making the ball another color) and i'm a mage, so I can mirror image it so I can have 4 monkeys. Pretty much everything that can step it up, as far i'm aware, and he took it from me. :-(
If you happen to join such runs, REMEMBER to ask about loot rules for trinkets, low drop rate rare items, etc.!
Edit: I got Burgy Blackheart's Handsome Hat aswell...
AoE looting for 5.0.4 makes this less tedious of a task to find hopefully I will have one soon
After 3 yrs farming for this (on and off), finally got it soloing Nexus(H)
You can use with the monk Zen Flight. It's hardly noticeable so it looks like a flying ape trailing smoke!
Droped today from Naxx trash.
FYI to all that didnt know, if you're a druid, this is a glitched item, you can use it, then go flight form, enjoy being a FLYING GORILLA!
from cecilio on 2013/11/08
and also makes the bubble a bright pink. :D
I want to know if you use this and pickpocket as a rogue with
will the sphere stay while disguised as another humanoid? I don't have this item so I can't test it out.
Got this after about 10 hours of actual farming in Heroic Pits Of Saron just resetting trash. I suspect I got it much sooner then I should have though. I believe it did drop from one of the skeletal slaves but it is hard to say as I had Aoe looting and the caster was also in that pile with them.
I choose to farm there for the chance at a battered hilt so I might make some gold. I scored one of those and about 10k in vendor trash gold.
I'm an avid collector of gimmick items, and ever since I saw this drop back in Wotlk (Heroic Utgarde Pinnacle) and lost the roll, I thought that I would never see it drop again. I'm also a mount collector, so every week I run solo ICC and Ulduar for a chance to get the mounts without the hassle of losing a roll. Today I was doing my routine clear of Ulduar, skipping the trash mobs that you don't need to clear. I killed all the bosses that are required to open the ancient gate. When the gate opens, there's always a pack of mobs waiting for you, so I cleared them in a nano second, like I always do and what do you know, one of them dropped the sphere. I gotta admit I released a high pitch scream like a sissy boy. My opinion is that all the best items/mounts drop when you don't have your mind set on them. The mount didn't drop as usual, maybe next week I'll try to think about work, friends or the weather and maybe Yogg will finally poop the head.
I kinda stupidly decided to farm this item for the toy box in 6.0. Its been a very frustrating 3 weeks.
I Initially read all the posts on this page seeing people get this item in 50-100 clears of Heroic Pit of Saron and thought I could try and be lucky and do the same. So far I've done over 500 trash clears of Heroic Pit of Saron, and multiple Naxx 25 Plague Wing trash clears (Trash Room before Heigan).
The only good thing about all these clears is the tens of thousands of vendorable greens and gray items, and the staggering amount of frostweave cloth (I'm a tailor) that I've been able to sell for high amounts.
TLDR: Be prepared for a very long farm and hopefully your stubborn enough to keep going until you get it.
Edit: Ha! Within 2 hours (about 15 or so clears of Heroic Pit of Saron) of making this post, it finally dropped. Finally!
I got mine today. After about 5 hours of farming heroic Pit of Saron. Excellent place to farm. Tons of mobs you can pull while mounted, lots of gold to gain, cloth to farm and broken hilts drop. I got 3 hilts, 60 stacks of cloth, 6k gold and a damaged necklace in that time.
Good luck to all trying for the sphere!
I finally got mine after somewhere around 800+ runs of heroic Pit of Saron. This was achieved over the course of
nearly a month
at an average rate of 30 runs per day and is definitely
recommended unless you're really wanting to complete your toy box in WoD.
First off, any post claiming to have obtained this item after a few hours is
the norm. If you come into farming an item like this, thinking it won't take long, you will get burnt out very quickly. The sphere is like any other random Northrend epic drop and seems to share their drop rate more or less. You might get lucky, but the odds of that are very slim. I found multiples of many other Northrend epics before I ever saw the sphere.
There are a couple ways that people are obtaining this. Some are just running WotLK raids with ample trash, such as Ulduar or Naxxramas, on a weekly basis. Farming certain instances is your best bet and Pit of Saron can be a more lucrative choice because of
As for the sphere itself, it is currently a trinket, but in 6.0 it will change to an account-wide toy that can be activated straight from your toy box. As of this post, the transformation will disappear if you log out and it seems you can no longer use it in conjunction with other transformation items to become a mounted gorilla.
Dealing or taking damage will not break the effect. Removing the trinket will break the effect. When used with other transformation items, you temporarily lose the gorilla appearance, but you keep the pink bubble! Model size has an effect on bubble size. Using
will cause you to have a very large bubble.
Good luck to anyone attempting this BEAST of a farm!
I started farming this for the WoD toybox. Mine dropped from normal Pit of Saron so you don't have to run it on heroic. I'd run maybe 120 heroics over 5 days then I got locked out when I killed some bosses so thought I would try a normal and it dropped on my first normal. Go figure....
With the Toybox collection tab being introduced in today's patch, this toy becomes accessible
, much like mounts and battle pets.(##RESPBREAK##)524##DELIM##thaia##DELIM##Please do not write a comment all in bold face.
Confirmed to still be farmable in PoS for 6.0.2. I had been farming it for about 2 weeks and finally got it today on live from PoS trash pulls. Good luck everyone.
I remember this trinket dropping off of trash in a Heroic Oculus run back when Wrath was current, and me winning the roll on my paladin. I never could bring myself to vendor it, even all throughout Cata and Mists, and now, with the Warlords of Draenor pre-patch, it has been turned from a trinket into a toy and I can now enjoy it on all of my characters. Good luck farming if you don't have it and keep in mind that sometimes some things are worth holding on to. :)
Been farming this one the last week, done 214 runs in Pit of Saron now and i still haven't seen any sign of it :( Many rare items such as designs, necks and heads has dropped though
FYI: This randomly dropped for me from trash in heroic halls of lightning doing some achievements I was missing. Probably dumb luck on my part but it might be worth checking out. They may have adjusted the loot tables on it with the pre-patch. Happy hunting!
someone actually disenchanted this. p_p
As of patch 6.0, this item no longer needs to be equipped to use! (Thank goodness!)
I wasn't even trying to farm this. I was working through going through to get the azure proto drake. It was when I took down a mob I couldn't move around that this ended up dropping for me, off of a Bloodthirsty Tundra Wolf.
And then my internet cut out while I was trying to learn it, and for a few minutes I though I had lost the loot. Nope! It is all settled in my toy box!
Since it hasn't been posted here yet, I'll go ahead and do it:
For those of you farming
Heroic Pit of Saron
for the fabulous
, here is a rough run down of the numbers and what to expect. This data is taken from
as wowhead appears to have insufficient or incomplete information about it (the drops are just a bit high).
When trash clearing the main area you will encounter ~75 mobs, of which ~20 of them are elite.
Drop chances for the relevant mobs are listed as:
Deathwhisper Torturer 0.009%
Wrathbone Laborer 0.004%
Skeletal Slave 0.002%
The majority of mobs encountered will be the Skeletal Slaves (usually in groups of 6 with one Deathwhisper Necrolyte). Since these are all so low, we will be basing this off of the Skeletal Slave drop chance. A typical clear of trash will take you about 3 minutes by mounting up and collecting all the trash, then AoEing them down. If you have an alt on another server, you can run it continuously, 10 times on one server, then 10 on another.
The probability of observing one
kills assuming all have the same 0.002% probability, is as follows,
P(x) = 1 - (1 - 0.00002)^x
So we have that,
Killing 1 mob
P(1) = 1 - (1 - 0.00002)^1 = .0020%
Killing 100 mobs (4 minutes)
P(100) = 1 - (1 - 0.00002)^100 = 0.1998%
Killing 1,000 mobs (40 minutes)
P(1000) = 1 - (1 - 0.00002)^1000 = 1.9802%
Killing 10,000 mobs (
6 hours 40 minutes
P(10000) = 1 - (1 - 0.00002)^10000 = 18.1270%
Killing 20,000 mobs (
13 hours 20 minutes
P(20000) = 1 - (1 - 0.00002)^20000 = 32.9682%
Killing 30,000 mobs (
P(30000) = 1 - (1 - 0.00002)^30000 = 45.1192%
Killing 40,000 mobs (
26 hours 40 minutes
P(40000) = 1 - (1 - 0.00002)^40000 = 55.0675%
Killing 50,000 mobs (
33 hours 20 minutes
P(50000) = 1 - (1 - 0.00002)^50000 = 63.2124%
Killing 60,000 mobs (
P(60000) = 1 - (1 - 0.00002)^60000 = 69.8809%
Killing 70,000 mobs (
46 hours 40 minutes
P(70000) = 1 - (1 - 0.00002)^70000 = 75.3406%
Killing 80,000 mobs (
53 hours 20 minutes
P(80000) = 1 - (1 - 0.00002)^80000 = 79.8107%
Killing 90,000 mobs (
P(90000) = 1 - (1 - 0.00002)^90000 = 83.4704%
Killing 100,000 mobs (

P(100000) = 1 - (1 - 0.00002)^100000 = 86.4667%
Finally: for a 95% likeliness of seeing it drop,
.95 = 1-(1-.00002)^x -----> x=149,785 (
99 hours 51.6 minutes
Keeping in mind this in no way guarantees that it does drop. Happy farming everyone!
There will be a reference to this toy in the new Blizzard FPS game,
! The character is named Winston and he has an ability called
"Winston’s shield projector extends a bubble-shaped field that absorbs damage until it's destroyed. Allies protected by the shield can return fire from within it."
so far unknown runs i have done in the last 3 days but i did the 10 runs every hour on heroic so far obtained 7x Battered Hilts and 3 World Epic Boes still no sphere yet hope to get before release
Two days ago (patch 6.0.3), during a 10 man Ulduar run, this item dropped from a
Champion of Hodir
. The mob is not listed yet in the "Dropped by" tab.
Dropped today off of
25man. Had no clue it dropped until I saw it in my bags!
Now let the hate flow through you!
Edit: I see that there's one drop by
in here - that might be me instead of Grobby.
It would be nice if Blizzard would make this BoE now that it is a toy..... that would make it a nice way to make money, and it's definitely more desirable now that it is an account-wide toy... I had it drop on my paladin during Wrath in the Oculus and I held onto it all those years, but if I happen to have it drop again for any of my toons it sure would be nice to be able to make some gold off of it...
Just had this drop from one of the mobs just before Sindragosa in ICC 10 man normal. Not sure which as I wasn't really paying attention.
Waiting for someone to confirm whether or not this be can be produced from salvage crates.
this toy item truely hates me ive done over 1k Pit of Saron Heroic Trash runs and went onto Naxx 25 Trash runs and ive looted so many Damaged Necklaces and Je'Tze's Bell which is another BOE world epic i dont know how much more of this i can take:(
Edit- around 60,000 mob kills as of now i FINALLY AM FREE OF THIS TORMENT! IT DROPPED!:D
This just dropped for me off
in ICC, although it isn't on her loot table, and she isn't listed on the dropped by tab here. I'm guessing because there's only one of her per run of the instance, it's a lot less likely to see it off her, and just hasn't been recorded yet.
I just calculated the average droprate based on all data availble on wowhead. (I took each drop average and weighted it correctly for the number of data points). The overall droprate I got was 0.002617% or 1 in 38204. For those of you that use Rarity you can plug that in and set it to drop in zone 10 (northrend). Happy hunting.
Use this + Drinking Horn + Bones of Transformation. Thank me later :)
Finally Obtained from Naxx 25 after 53102 mobs killed. (23142 kills on another toon)
I just had a very weird experience.
I was starting my long journey towards Loremaster, starting with Icecrown because that's the zone where I did all but ~30 quests. I started doing a quest where I had to kill those flesh giants on the ramparts of the Citadel. I got disconnected from the server, and when I logged back in and checked my inventory, it was there. I didn't notice it drop, but it must have dropped. Probably from those flesh giants, it seems to back up the claim that they drop the most from level 80 Elites.
Picked this up on my monk in 25 man heroic ICC by cleaning trash, needless to say I was extremely happy that I didn't skip looting trash for once.
Drops in Timewalker 6.2 dungeons. (mine dropped in The Nexus off Mage Hunter Ascendant)
Holy crap, didn't even know this existed! Was doing a run of Utgarde Keep going for the mount and this dropped off of some mob. Didn't get the mount but still happy about my new toy.
Hey, buddies. I would just like to thank you for all the information posted here. Whenever I decide to start farming something I always read a lot about it for info and encouragement, both of which I found here.
So after some weeks of filling up my toy box, and overlooking this because it's a world drop BoP, I decided yesterday to head into Pit of Saron with my mind set on doing at least 2000 runs before giving up. I farmed for about 7 hours straight yesterday on two characters. I believe I did about 90 runs or so with no luck that evening. It's possible to go faster than that ofc, but I'm not the most efficient farmer. Today I woke up excited to continue farming (a tv series on another monitor or laptop is a must). I did about 30 more runs before I decided to download the rarity addon and add the Sphere because it's a little bit of extra motivation.
20 runs later an "achievement" popped up. At first I thought it was an exalted achievement (I put on different tabards for rep gains while farming), but it turned out the Sphere actually dropped and the achievement was the addon telling me I had achieved my goal. So yeah, it took me about 150 runs and some 11000 mobs killed. According to the addon this gave me a little more than 20% chance of having it drop, so rng truly was on my side this time.
This post doesn't give any new info, but I guess I'm just hoping it can be a little bit of motivation like a lot of the other posts here. So thanks again and good luck! I hope you all find it soon.
Pit of Saron is good, but Naxx is better.
Almost all the mobs in Naxx you will be farming are elite. Elite mobs have a higher drop rate for world BoE's.
You won't get any battered hilts in Naxx, but you will get a ton more frostweave cloth to sell. Blizz nerfed the drop rate of frostweave cloth in PoS due to farmers, but Naxx was unchanged.
Kill the first boss in the Plague Quarter on normal 10 Naxx. Zone out and set it to normal 25 Naxx. You can now clear all the trash between the first and second boss in Plague Quarter, trash before first boss in Military Quarter, zone out, reset, and repeat. Takes 4-5 minutes per clear depending on class. Around 150 mobs.
at the begining of a BG. The order has a reason for most of it...
If you use
first before another xform item, the purple sphere remains arround you. So if I use
after it, I'll be a goren in a purple sphere...
Even better, you can actually use
before any other xform/xform combo, and you'll still randomly blurt out Manastorm's lines while in combat, even though you have another shape...
at the end while I'm sure
can be used prior to anything else for the same effect. Not sure about
I also found out that using
on my female Draenei toon, will make her have a male Draenei voice!
Just had one drop in a Timewalking Old Kingdom (packs leading up to the 2 clickable objects), so I can confirm it does drop in TW. Of course the weakest dps wins it and instantly leaves, just like the good old days.
Dropped for our group in Old Kingdom off one of the groups of Plundering Geists.
This just dropped from the flower trash in Freya's room in Ulduar
I know i'm gonna get hate for it but i had it drop after 2 runs in heroic pit of saron trying to get a battered hilt.
I farmed this toy from Naxxramus 25-man trash in about 4 hours (spread across several days).
Naxx 25 has the best clustering of mobs with confirmed drops of the item, and is easily soloed with no interference from other players. There is also enough trash per run that you can farm it continuously without ever hitting the instance per hour limit.
Use a class with high-uptime mobility to minimize travel time between mobs. Rogue
is pretty ideal, Shaman
is probably second best, Monk/Mage/Warlock would do alright with appropriate talents. Also helps to wear some speed items, like
First run of the week, kill the first boss in the Spider wing (Anub) and the first boss in the Plague wing (Noth). This gives you access to the larger trash pulls after them.
Thereafter, kill all the available trash in each of the Spider, Military and Plague wings, WITHOUT killing any more bosses (stop upon reaching a boss). All three wings have several trash mobs with wowhead-confirmed drops of the toy. Don't bother with Construct quarter.
Finish your trash clear in either Plague or Military wing and then teleport out, since those have the longest run back. You can teleport to the graveyard by joining and then leaving a group, from LFG or a friend.
Reset the instance and do it again. (While zoned out, Right click on your portrait -> Reset all instances)
Bonus: If you bring lots of bag space and a vendor mount to sell trash after every run, you will net a few hundred gold per run.
can be helpful, but not strictly necessary.
Mine dropped from a Deathknight Captain, and I have a screenshot to prove it.
So I've been farming this toy for over a week now on my rogue and am up to 46k kills. I've been doing mostly Naxx 25 plague and military wings with the occasional Pit of Saron trash run or clearing the various other dungeons and have seen 4 different world drops, just not the one i need. I have been using the addon Rarity to keep track and if u do as well keep in mind any disconnects will not keep track of recent kills so you may want to reload ui every once in a while. Wish me luck guys I plan to go until at least 100k :)
Edit-I finally got it to drop in the military quarter at 52k kills! Terrible grind but tbh sprite darter in cata xpac was rougher imo. Addition of aoe looting def makes this less cumbersome. Good luck to anyone who tries to farm the toy.
Got this while randomly clearing ICC 25 HC i was nearly going to vendor it later ..lol
Today I finally get this item at Naxxramas.
Due to above comment, i decided to farm this item at naxxramas.
My strategy is that killing all the mobs of plague district before 2nd named(I can't remember its name) and army district before 1st named as Lazubius(Is it right spell? sorry i'm not enligsh native speaker.)
I slauther all the mobs and reset naxxramas.
I repeat this pattern almost 48 hours.
after farming I got forty-thousands golds and nearly twenty-thousands frost fabric material and few epic world drop items as Je'Tze's Bell, Signet of Edward the Odd, etc.
To be frankly sometimes i decided to give up this labor.
Because it is so lazy and boring and ^&*!ing hard.
To whom want to get this item
Best of luck to you.
I add a screenshot.
Hi guys! First of all thanks for all the helpful comments!
After nearly 12 years of playing this game I decided to make an account on wowhead just to comment on this and share my story.
Something incredible happened! I started farming with the method described bellow at naxx.. I only did a few runs (1,5k kills) there on my rogue. I was only running arachnid quarter ending it at Faerlina. In those kills I got 2 Je'Tze's Bell, no luck with the toy.
I had another char (my mage) at Pit of Saron. There I farmed on and off for some hours per day for 3 days. I did a bit more than 3k kills there. (Total naxx+PoS kills=4782). I have to state that I am running WotlK dungeon and raids since it was current. Never saw the toy.
To get to the point, in these 3 days I read some comments here under some raid mounts and I thought to try equiping the Talisman of true Treasure Tracking while farming. I went to farm for the first time Throne of the Four Winds. On the 7th kill in total and first of my mage I got the mount. After that the next 2 days I was farming with the neck on Naxx and PoS. The run before the last one awarded me with my first battered hilt, and the exactly next one, the super simian sphere. Pretty damn lucky I would say! I was prepared for more than 50k kills. I want to encourage every farmer to put this neck on! I know it most likely is a placebo and rng was on my side this time, but it just feels too extreme and surreal to be just random. I wish everyone the same luck and happy hunting!
Didn't even know this existed until it dropped today off of a frostwing whelp.
Farming this crap so pisses me off... Farming this on and off for last month, killed about ~70k mobs in PoS and Naxx, got 15+ Battered Hilts, probably every other BoE world drop (some of them 2-3 times), yet this toy (only toy left to get outside 3 seasonal and TCG ones) eludes me. Sooo annoying when only thing to farm in this game are mounts with under 0.05% drop or TOY with 0.01% drop.
Got it today after ~17k kills (+ those ones before installing/customizing the rarity addon). Dropped from a bat in Naxx 25N - the packs just after the first boss in the plague quarter.
I'm still in shock.
After farming for many days in Naxx 25N i grew tired of my poor luck. I was at 34k kills (counted with the Rarity addon) and decided to head over to this comment section too see if anyone had discovered any new farming method. I stumbled upon Pannick314's comment about the Talisman of True Treasure Tracking and though, why not.
I head back to Naxx 25N, enter the Plague quarter and run my usual path, gathering all trashmobs between the first and second boss. The moment I loot the Rarity addon flashes before me. The FIRST item I looted since I equipped the necklace was the very Super Simian Sphere. I just can't believe it.
If you're on the verge of giving up the farm just try with the necklace and see, for it might hold some powers after all.
A while ago i were farming Ulduar for the Mimiron's Head mount. Totally oblivious about the
, it dropped from one of the titan mobs guarding the passage to Keeper Thorim! Video proof:
You're now able to mount with this toy without the buff being removed.
Can confirm 7.0 it still drops from Naxx 10m plague quarter 90 mob, bat pull aoe all at once before the 2nd boss. Took me 26k kills :) good luck! you are gonna need it!
I wonder if this was the precursor to winston in overwatch...
I decided to try and farm this toy from Chozen Zealots in Icecrown, here are my stats.
I had 5 accounts open while farming so these stats are for a party of 5.
There are 44 Chozen Zealots in the building to the right of the ICC stairs, they have a 2 minute respawn timer and for me took about 30 seconds to pull and kill.
I farmed only for an hour roughly, which was 25 resets. equalling 1,100 kills.
Frostweave Cloth - 2,058
Roughly 3k gold from vendoring/gold drops
Many green items dropped but did not count since i was just vendoring them.
Without the comforting feeling that these do in fact drop the Super Simian Sphere, I would rather run Naxx.
I was clearing Naxx-Military Quarter gauntlet where the bats are and exactly after 167 resets I got it on my 14990th loot. Here is the screenshot.
Dropped today from a timewalking dg nice harambe toy lol
This toy also drops from Northrend timewalking dungeons. Got mine from Halls of Lightning trash.
Can confirm as well that you can obtain it from WotLK Timewalking dungeons.
This can be a brutal farm. I used the Naxx method, kill first boss in arachnid quarter, first boss in plague quarter, no boss in military. Farm all the trash in those 3 quarters thereafter without killing any more bosses. Rinse. And. Repeat.
438 times over 3-4 weeks. 209 lootable mobs per run. 438 runs x 209 mobs = 91,542 mobs killed (+ who knows how many from my very long WoTLK career).
438 runs x 6 min / run = 43.8 hrs (Probably closer to 50 hours)
It finally dropped in Plague Quarter. Couldn't tell you which mob, mass loot. Bats, maggots, hulking dudes.
I got these Purple BoEs:
5 signet of edward the odd (Purple BoE)
2 wapach's spaulders of solidarity (Purple BoE)
2 Je'Tze's bell (Purple BoE)
1 sword of avool jin (Purple BoE)
1 zom's crackling bulwark (Purple BoE)
1 namlak's supernumeray sticker (Purple BoE)
1 sash of jordan (Purple BoE)
And these blue BoEs + Other oddities
10 torta's oversized choker
8 shimmering girdle
6 titanium lockbox
7 wristguard of verdant recovery
8 grips of the warming heart
9 damaged necklace
2 cracklefire wristguards
2 gwyneth's runed dragonwand
1 twisted puzzle ring
1 condor bone chestguard
1 skullcage of eternal terror
The way I see it, Super Simian Sphere has about the same chance or maybe a little less to drop as the 7 purple BoEs. You can expect to see a purple BoE 91,542/13 boes = 1 boe every 7,041 mobs or so.
I think I had bad luck with this. The number I kept seeing was 1 in every 10,000 mobs. I think it's more like 1 in 25,000-50,000.
Do everything you can to increase movespeed. Also, I was able to use Monk Transcendence in 2 spots, plague and military, to shave about a minute off each run.
Good luck and keep hold of your sanity!
I didn't know this thing even existed until today. I was in ICC 25 farming for the battle pets when this dropped from a from a Frostwing Whelp trash right before Sindragosa.
Dropped today in Onyxia's Lair(25)
Went into Onyxia's Lair today and as I always kill every stray mob everywhere even if it is a level 7 sheep in Elwynn Forest just because it just might drop something rare. To my surprise
dropped from one of the Onyxian Warders patroling the path down to Onyxia. These mobs are not listed by Wowhead as a source of drop but as people have mentioned it drops from elite mobs tied to the Wrath of the lich king expansion.
My 75th Onyxia kill on this toon, still no luck with the mount. But this certainly made my day!
This just dropped for me off some thrash in Ulduar 25. Didnt even know it exists!
Just dropped for me from first pack of trash in Icecrown Citadel 25 Normal :D
It drops two times on my todays timewalking runs, and I evene was able to win one of them, unfortunately still no sign of mount.:<
i just had this drop in H 25 ICC. a 7 hundredth of 1% at the highest. . . so rare. i am now a monkey.
It dropped for me (as a surprise) on my 225th Heroic Utgarde Pinnacle run. From the Scourge Hulk at the entrance
Okay, an unusual question here - I pretty much do UP HC daily for the blue proto drake mount, but not always loot every mob, so...
If the toy drops for you and you don't loot it, do you receive it to your mail, or is it lost forever? Anyone have an idea/ has received the toy to his mail?
I wanted to give up so many times while farming this. I have played since the beta for WoW, and have tried on and off since Wrath to farm for this toy. My NPC kill total is likely somewhere around 500k+ overall. I finally got this toy though a few days ago after 108,045 kills in Naxx off of one of the mobs in the Plague quarter, probably a bat. I would switch between my DK, Druid, and Monk because they could all port back to their class halls and vendor things without having to run out. I was starting to get the feeling that it wasn't going to drop, or that somehow the loot had maybe changed after Blizz added all the scaling to older content. I can't tell you how excited I was to finally see the toy drop. I'm just missing 2 farm-able toys in the game now...The rest are from the card game and BMAH. Good luck, be sure to start watching a new show or something while you farm for this!
Today i ran my daily ICC and first it dropped from the trash mobs in the stair of the vampire boss.
10 min later i went it on my monk and it dropped again from the fleshrippers on my way to festergut. What is this blizzard? i cant get mount but i can get 0.01% drops two times within 10 min...
Dropped today from trash towards Hodir, for those who are uncertain about the loot in reworked Ulduar (10man only).
I did a usual clear for Mimiron's Head, no timewalking.
Dropped in 25man Naxx hc Plague Quarter after maybe 150 runs. Was mainly farming Plague Quarter but did also military quarter sometimes.
Was going to give up but there it dropped :) I have many alts so the trash reset on 30min was no problem.
This just dropped for me from either a Naxxramas Acolyte or Naxxramas Cultist (Grand Widow Faerlina's boss room).
I lost count on how many runs. Just confirming it still drops.
Confirmed drop in 25 man Naxx in Patch 8.1 from elite mobs in the Plague Quarter. This toy drops off of any elite mob in WOTLK dungeons, raids, and outdoor content.
If you're up for the task of farming this awesome but very low drop rate toy, here's my setup for fairly good efficiency. Be prepared to do at least 40hrs worth of total clears, easily in the hundreds of resets. (I didn't count specific resets as I did mine sporadically over several months.) Be advised that this is easily one of the worst grinds in the game. But after a while, you should start to get the hang of how to best pull all of the mobs and you can semi-autopilot it.
Naxx 25 man (has the best accumulation of elite mobs)
5 level 100-120 alts all parked outside the entrance--try to pick ones that have a Loot-a-rang (if the toy drops and you don't loot it, it won't be mailed to you) or speed gear/abilities/blinks if possible
Clear Plague wing up until the second boss (but do not kill second boss)
Clear Military wing up until the first boss (but do not kill the first boss)
Because trash in Naxxramas does not reset instantly with the reset instance option in Patch 8.1, your character must exit the instance and wait for 30 minutes before trash respawns. To combat this, I cycled between 5 100-120 characters. Start with Toon 1, and clear up the second boss in the Plague Wing. You can easily just pull aggro on all the mobs in any given room all at once and just AOE everything down without much effort. After clearing up to the second boss (but do not kill the second boss, as this will cause all trash between the first boss chamber and second boss to no longer respawn. All mobs prior to the first boss will obviously not respawn after the first boss is dead.), run back and clear up the first boss in the adjacent Military wing (but do not kill the first boss). Without any sort of special speed set gear, this should take you ~7-8 minutes from start to finish. Exit the instance and swap to Toon 2. Do the same thing for Toons 2-5. By the time you finish on Toon 5, Toon 1's trash should be reset. Repeat! Do yourself a favor and have a vendor mount: so you can easily sell all the tons of worthless items you're sure to accumulate after a clear.
Ta-da! You're now a glowy purple monkey boi and probably never want to step foot in Naxxramas again.
So it was bugging me that the 'Rarity' Addon didn't track this, so added it (via custom) myself.
I added it under 'drops from NPC's', and used the ID's of the current 66 mobs that have confirmed dropped on wowhead. I know this isn't completely accurate, as other mobs can drop it (ie, practically anything in northrend)... but this at least gave me a decent starting point (and vague estimate). Plus it would flash up if/when it does drop (so I notice it!).
Anywho... I just wanted to post this line of text for anyone else wishing to add it to their own rarity. It's the ID codes of all 66 mobs listed on wowhead as have dropped it. just c+p it as here:
best of luck on finding yours everyone!
Dropped today from either one of the mini-dragons or the vrykuls on Sindragosas platform in 25 HC. FYI.
Dropped from the trash in front of General Vezax in Ulduar while farming xmog. Didn't even know this thing existed.
i like super simian sphere
This method won't work for everyone, but I was finally able to obtain this toy through multiboxing five accounts. I was able to hyper spawn
mobs in Icecrown since they are quest mobs. I would kill for 12 minutes and then fly around looting on all of my characters. Corpses despawn after 2 minutes unless they have a rare or epic item on them, in which case they last for 30 minutes I believe. It took me approximately 4 hours, in which time I attained 4 BoE epics, around 50 BoE rares, 8 titanium lockboxes, 2 damaged necklaces, and then the toy.
You could also do this with a premade group so long as you organize where each person will stand. I would say you need at least 4 people to cover enough spawn points to create a hyper spawn situation.
So finally we found the Sphere. Twice.
After a very active WotLK career, with each and every Achievement completed, all battle pets and mounts obtained and almost every transmog, this toy just eluded me.
Reading all these comments here, I tried my luck for a while in
. Got nothing there.
Running instances seems just too ineffective. You run most of the time around without actually killing anything.
Then you kill the enemies within a second and loot and wait a minute to reset the instance.
Even with a lot optimization, you have still a lot downtime.
We needed a more brute force method here.
So after a short research I found this spot in
where there are
fighting each other.
The good thing about this spot is that you have always at least 3 enemies up. No matter how fast you kill them.
But there is also a downside. This is a quest area. Often players visit to do their quests.
If you kill everything too fast, you essentially make it impossible for them to finish their quests.
You should switch to a RP shard if you don't want to get annoyed whispers or take breaks and let them do their quests.
If you want to try this out here are some tips:
have at least one balance druid in your group, since they can reach all targets, except two
37.20 23.90 is a good position for a balance druid
plater addon is useful to check the range
be at least 2 players to cover all spawns, or you will have to move if you are alone
all targets from about the center. you don't need to move
hunter loot macro:
is also an option. just like with
you reach all corpses (direct or indirect) from the center
loot often (every few seconds) to get also loot from the corpses >40m
corpses despawn after 2 minutes, unless at least a rare item is inside. then they stay longer. did not measure it, but 10-30 minutes is my guess
if you want to be sure not to miss any epic, run around every 10 minutes and loot everything by hand
melee are useless
learn the transmogs from the greens and sell them then, noone buys them from the ah
dejunk addon helps with selling
And here some statistics. We all love numbers, don't we?
We needed to farm 2
We were 5 level 110. Level should not matter much, but be at least 80 to be on the safe side.
Overall we looted 416428
to get 2
. First dropped after about 290k.
On average we looted 3150 corpses per hour and farmed about 30 hours in total.
All greens were ilvl 89 to 100. Even right at the end we still found unlearned greens.
Some greens are rarer than the sphere! Yet worthless.
We've seen a lot of rare drops and these epics:
Based on this, I would argue the
has the same drop chance as any other ilvl 100 epic.
For motivation: p=1-(0,875^x) tells you the chance that your x-th epic will be the sphere.
Epic #13 and #21 were our spheres.
Further I postulate that any npc that drops any of these 8 epics, can drop all of them.
So be creative in finding other instant respawn spots.
I'm happy to say that this freaking toy still drops! I've been farming it for more than 2 years on at least 2 toons by doing the trash on Naxxramas 25. However, it just dropped for me today, out of the blue, while doing Utgarde Pinnacle Dungeon on HC for the Mount. It dropped out of some random thrash!
All i'm trying to say is don't give up, and ALWAYS LOOT EVERYTHING -and i mean everything- WHEN YOU ARE DOING WoTLK DUNGEONS AND RAIDS!
I did the Naxxramas trick for
- Kill the first boss of The Plague Quarter on 25 man: Noth the Plaguebringer.
- Get out of the raid.
- Reset all instances.
- Convert to 10 man.
- Kill all the trash before each first boss on each quarter (6 minutes run).
And I tried the Battered Hilt farm in the Pit of Sauron dungeon for
- On heroic mode kill all trash mobs possible without killing any boss.
So ... I did
get the toy Super Simian Sphere.
Does it still drop on instance mobs?
Dropped for me today from Sindragosa. Wasn't going to bother looting...but thought...oh why not?
Dropped for me in Icecrown raid
Received this on pre-patch launch day in Ulduar from Freya's trash.
Dropped today while farming the argent tourney quests where I was looting for the black cage keys
Wow randomly got this from a dark necromancer in culling of stratholme
Can confirm that i got it from Halls of lightning normal mode from a random dwarf elite mob near the first boss :)
Looted today while doing runs through corridor between Noth and Heigan in Naxx10 and reseting. Somehow the reset didn't worked for me in Naxx25 so I kept it doing Naxx10.
Anyway, good luck :)
Snagged this today in Naxx10 doing a weekly transmog run, trash before Patchwork.
Hey , i would like to share my own experience with this item.
First of all i am an active player since TBC. I farmed dungeons and raids so many times that i cant event count.
I never seen this item drops , not only for me, but also for anyone else. Before 3 months i decide to start farming for this item.
I can truly say that it was one of my worst decisions ever!
Anyway , i read the comments here in wowhead and decide to do the Naxx 25 thrash farm. I killed first boss at Arachid and first boss at Plague area.
I clear all thrash till second boss at the quarters i mentioned before and the thrash packs at Millitairy.
In every run i killed around 200 mobs.
So finally after 3 months of almost daily farming , it dropped at my 986 run through Naxx 25.
If you count the mobs that i killed , they were around 190k.
Every run took me around 6 mins (Brewmaster monk with speed bonuses and the teleport) , so i spend around 99 hours of farming inside Naxx 25.
The toy dropped as my 32 boe rare item. Also looted these :
3 signet of edward the odd (Purple BoE)
6 wapach's spaulders of solidarity (Purple BoE)
5 Je'Tze's bell (Purple BoE)
3 sword of avool jin (Purple BoE)
4 zom's crackling bulwark (Purple BoE)
7 namlak's supernumeray sticker (Purple BoE)
3 sash of jordan (Purple BoE)
Finally i recommend to anyone that want to farm for this Toy to grab all the patience and energy they have cause its really one of the most difficult farm inside game.
Thanks for reading my post. Good luck to everyone!
The toy dropped for me today in the Icecrown Citadel (25hc) from spiders between Valithria and Sindragosa. First time the toy dropped for my main character in WotLK so I learned it already but it dropped for my alt anyway.
I started farming this because the fact that it is collected by 10% of profiles on Wowhead seemed high and bothered me that I don't have it as an avid collector. Plus I have a lot of nostalgia for WotLK. Before starting, I had guessed the drop chance was ~0.01% which didn't seem too bad to obtain. However, after crunching some numbers from Wowhead drop data, I suspect the drop chance is between 0.001% and 0.002%, and more likely the lower bound than the higher.
Aggregating the drops for the 12 most-killed mobs on Wowhead at the time of this post:
Drop % = (Drops / Total Kills) = (248 / 15,031,069) = 0.00165%
I only use the 12 most-killed mobs to mitigate the bias that mobs without a recorded drop are not included on wowhead. In other words the drop percent from wowhead data is inherently upward biased for a rare world drop like this .
Any tips for those folks who obtained this toy intentionally in recent years is appreciated!
Super Simian Sphere dropped for my husband account Feb 14th his attempts where 9902 in Naxx 25h in the Plaque Quarter. I'm still farming for the toy I'm at 28k in Naxx and Icecrown so far, no luck for a drop yet.
Just looted this from Patchwerk trash in 25 Naxx
Despite the fact it isn't listed in his loot table, I got this from Meathook in Culling today
Saw this drop today in a timewalking Halls of Lightning - sadly the guy it dropped for had it but I of course couldn't be traded the item
Dropped for me today on the Freya's trash packs in ulduar 10 men.
was only trying to hunt for the trash bop bow and got this.
GL All Toy Hunters.
Dropped for me today from the spiders right before Sindragosa on ICC 25h :D
Good luck everyone!
