As with all Season Three weapons, not only will you need the Arena Points to purchase, but if you do not have an Arena Rating of at least 1850 on one of your teams, you won't be able to but them.

Also people, dont forget about shockadins, im getting the s1 mace, because i want the armor first, once i reach 1850 points, ima get the mace, witht he full s3 set, and the other armor/rings/neck, and enchants ect ect a shockadin can manage 1100 or more spell dmg

Once tues hits,im have 1050 spell dmg on my pally, look out for the shockadins, imo

All armor and weapons that require a personal rating now also require your team to have atleast same rating in order to buy.

Example:

Shoulders 2000 Personal rating now also require Arena team rating +2000.

It is a good move on Blizzards part. Linking it to personal and team rating stops an often used exploit that pushed up personal rating by pushing your teams rating down.

Does anyone know if the rating requirement is necessary just to buy the item, or do you also have to maintain that rating to wear it?

In other words, if my ratings are just barely 1850, then I lose a lot of games, will I have to equip something else until I get my rating back, or is the rating only required to buy the item?

Upgrading from the Merciless Gladiator's Salvation you gain the following:

+41 Healing spells
+14 Damage done by magical spells and effects
+4 Stamina
+2 Intellect
+0.1 DPS
And the same amount of resilience, if anyone is looking for a good arena calculator, try http://www.#$%^&*!@#$%^&*!@#.com , my friends and I use it everytime we play arena, wish they made a UI mod for it.

Too bad for holy paladins and resto shamans(and elemental) they need this thing and the shield, which is 3150 + 1875 = 5025 arenapoints total!. Which are by far the most expencive classes to get both weapons from arena. and both shield and weapon need a 1850 rating makes it even worse. while other classes need 3750 arenapoints for a 2h weapon(like warriors and hunters) and the offhand of the casters only costs 1125 arenapoints(which does not need the 1850 rating req). Casters need a total of 3150 arenapoints to get their weapon(while being on 1850 rating) and another 1125 to get their offhand what makes a total of 4275 arenapoints or casters can get the staf forr 3750 arenapoints.
warriors and hunters etc using 2h weapons can get their weapon for 3750 arenapoints and then get their gear.
these numbers are way lower than those of holy paladins and resto shamans. Which means healingclasses get their gear much slower.
And on top of that holy paladins aren't even wanted in arena 2 vs 2 and 3 vs 3. they are only viable for 5 vs 5. Same goes for a resto shaman because they are to easy to cc.

As of June 24, 2008, this weapon, along with other Season 3 weapons, now have a 15% discount and 50 point reduced rating requirement for both personal and team arena ratings. The price for this weapon should be around 2677 arena points, and 1800 personal and team arena rating requirement.
