Ok, it took me some time to figure this one out as I could not find any comments about this item myself :p
Let me explain the total chain.
- You become honored with Ogri'la
- You accept the quest Banish the Demons
http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=11026
- You turn in the Darkrune for a Crystalforged Darkrune
- Go to the warpgate. I went to the warpgate just south of Forge Camp: Wrath and activate the Crystalforged Darkrune
Then the fun starts :)
Phase 1
You get to control a felguard. It has a few abilities. The most important one is some kind of hammer you can throw at the shield of the warpgate. Each hammer takes about 15-20% off the shield and the hammer has a 25 seconds cooldown. While you demolish the shield, mobs will spawn that will try to stop you. You need to stay alive and you have a few abilities for that:
-Whirlwind: a 3 second whirlwind dealing huge damage to all mobs around you. Use this when you got 4+ mobs on you. About 10 seconds cooldown
- Mortal strike. Singletarget dps obviously, use it to kill mobs fast. About 3 seconds cooldown
- Charge: very nice charge with an aoe effect afterwards. Theres imps spawning that will be sending fireballs your way. I found out that if you have a group of mobs on you, charge to an imp and the aoe effect will kill most mobs immediately. Nice if your whirlwind is on CD. Charge has about 15 seconds cooldown
- Fear. If you have too many mobs on you, use fear to gain some extra time. About 15 seconds cooldown as well
Once the shield is destroyed, the demon that was inside it will be freed and will start to attack you. At this point no more other adds will spawn. I was at 30% hp with my demon when the shield was down and I took him down no problem. A nice tactic to use on him is to fear him and when he is far enough, charge into him. Mortal strike is also nice ofcourse.
Once this demon is at about 10% hp, it will drain the life of the demon you controlled. Dont worry! As soon as your demon is dead, you will automaticly take control of this newly spawned demon.
Phase 2
I didn't have a clue what to do now to be honest. The new demon you control has very different abilities. Im not 100% sure on these, you will have to try it out.
- Superjump: jump up in the air and land, causing damage and stunning mobs. This has a minimum range
- Consume essence: consume the health of mobs, adding it to your own. USE IT, very important to stay alive. Important to know is that this also has a minimum range. Use it when the mobs summon a cannon as that is the only time they will go outside melee range.
- Frontal fire cone: seemed to have a minimum range as well, doesnt do tons of damage, but this demon simply doesnt. Use it to damage several mobs at once
- melee damage: dont know the name, its an instant attack of some kind.
- the final ability is a shard-consuming ability that will make you fly up in the sky and bomb mobs. It has a pretty long cooldown i found out... I pressed it at the start when there werent any mobs yet :( The cooldown wasnt ready before i failed. Yes, will get to that later
So these mobs start spawning and a new demon will start coming through the portal. I can only assume you need to fight off the small mobs and kill the demon"boss" coming through the portal. I also assume you will take control of that new demon before its completely killed, but maybe you need to complete it with the demon you control. I had the 2nd demon spawn and noticed a third demon being summoned from the portal. Unfortunately, my demon died and I failed the quest for today.
Its a daily quest you can get after killing 15 demons and sending them back into the void through that portal you can summon. You get a darkrune, turn the darkrune in to get Crystalforged Darkrune. I dont know what the rewards will be, maybe someone else can post. I will post again if I get any further.
Please note: when you first get to this quest, you can do it twice just like all other dailys. Make

Please note that you might NOT receive a dark rune! I got a dark rune for free the very first time i did this quest, but at the second one (the first time i did Banish More Demons quest) i only got 10 crystals and NO dark rune!
Today i did get a Darkrune and i got around the same spot Bytes got. Do remember stock up on Charged Crystal Focus items, you will need them!

for phase two you also have an axe throwing move that stuns the target, it has a minimum range also, at the end of this phase 2 of the small guys and one of those giant female mobs with the 4 (is it 6?) swords comes out, i got this far but got destroyed do to a range bug, in this section just stunlock her she will be doing massive damage so use your instant melee attack (dont remember the name atm) as it reduces her damage by 50%, also i made the mistake of killing the small guys, DONT, let them live and kill their fel cannons when they spawn, you will need them to consume. sorry for the wall of text

Actually, the quest text mentions that sometimes you'll get a darkrune, sometimes you won't, so it appears to be random whether you get one or not.

Make sure you bring your charged crystal focus when you do this (i didn't sadly =[ ) you can use the phase1 demon's abil to heal him with it(crystals), not sure how much it heals, but they finally are useful!

You've all helped me quite a bit with your comments so i might aswell say, the phase one is preety easy, you allways have cooldowns to do stuff, charge imps, spam MS, ww now and then, fear then charge, etc, preety easy once you know what to expect, when the boss comes hes a gimp and dies fast, i didn't need to use the special even, like my first time. Good to know that the phase1 special (last magic in your pet bar) drains life from all nearby enemies, so you drain em when there are a lot arround you obviously, and it uses a Charged Crystal Focus.
Phase two, when you get the 2nd demon, starts preety easy, you spam the fire breath when they gather, you spam the first meele thing to lower their dmg, and when one small one breaks away to do the cannon, you do the stun jump which owns them all up, add a couple of axe stuns and they all die preety easy, the IMPORTANT thing is, phase 2 drain life ability DOES NOT need a Charged Crystal Focus, only the Bombing thing (last ablity in pet bar) uses a focus, and its a shitload of damage so i suggest saving it for the Assasin mob, which pwned me on 2% left or so.
The tricky part is that the drain in p2 has a MINIMUM range, aka can't be used on 1 on 1, yet you use it when you stun someone, or somehow break away by jump etc, keep yourself topped with it, and it should be np when the last boss comes.
I only wish my next rune doesn't take 4 days to get like this one :(
Edit: people reading this please reply with the ending of the fight and possible rewards :p

I don't know if people just aren't reading the skill descs or what, but the instant melee attack does TRIPLE damage on a stunned target. So on the mo'arg it's a good idea to use Throw Axe or Super Jump to stun and then close in and use the instant melee attack.
It's also a good idea to use Super Jump and then turn around, hit the mo'arg with the instant melee attack, and then use Fel Flames on the group. The mo'arg is what I perceive to be a bigger threat than all the little guys. Also, do note that Consume Essence will NOT work on the mo'arg, only gan'args.
Finally, at the deathwhisperer, she's more or less a spellcaster. Therefore, make sure you CONSTANTLY use your stuns to interrupt her. The minimum range on your stuns is only 5 yards, so you should have more than enough time to get in range and interrupt her. Also, she likes to periodically Ice Block every 20-30 seconds after a while. So watch out for that so you don't waste a stun cooldown.
And lastly, make sure you keep at least a couple gan'args alive so that you can use Consume Essence on them. Between the Ice Blocks and my low health at the time, I just wasn't able to keep going. :( I had already used my bombardment ability earlier, and it seems to have a 3 mins cooldown or longer. Next time, I'm going to try saving it for that boss.

To addon to what Bytes has already posted, for Stage 1 you DO NOT need to use a Charged Crystal Focus to defeat this stage.
The strategy for stage 2 requires a shard, i have tried multiple times to complete this stage without one and it proves impossible.
First, you simply just whack away the little dudes one by one as they spawn. Then when the first big guy spawns you stop attacking the little ones that spawn new, because you will need them to regain health.
Draining the full HP bar of one of the little mobs heals for about 35000 which is a good chunk of life. The best way to accomplish this is when a new mob spawns further away Super Jump to him, quickly turn and life drain a full HP mob that you just stunned, since you can't use the ability in melee range.
At this point what you want to do is run at the biggest guy and throw your axe, which will do dmg and stun him. Then you use your Double Swing since it does 3x normal dmg to stunned mobs.
Then while you have all the little guys around you just use your breath and kill them all off, since the Super Jumps took them down enough already.
Make sure to keep life draining the little guys that are full HP and when you start getting 2-3 big guys spawning at a time you use your Charged Crystal Focus, take in mind you need 50% HP to defeat this upcoming boss, and it will kill all mobs spawned already, reflect any attacks attempted on you and kill the next wave or two that will spawn leaving you when you land with the boss.
I have yet to reach Stage 3 but will update as i get more information on. I would recommend trying to stock up a cache of these charged crystal focus, as i'm sure you will need at least 3 to do this quest.
Good quest, but very hard.

STAGE 1-
You take control of a Fel Guard looking mob and he has some abilitys.
*Mortal Strike
*Whirlwind
*Fear
*Charge
*Hammer Throw
*Life tap that takes a Crystal
Strat:
As soon as you get control use the hammer throw, because that is whats needed to beat the event. Then just MS every mob that comes your way in the begining, if you get over whelmed you have 3 options with this guy. Either run close enough to an imp to charge it, so that you deal massive AoE dmg with the charge killing every thing arround you. A whirlwind which kills everything around you, or a fear which fears every thing around you :D
I usually just mortal strike everything i can till charge is up then charge an imp and kill everything. Make sure you use your hammer every time it is up.
BOSS1- Simple strat for him, just fear, then mortal strike, whirl wind, then charge, mortal strike, run arround till fear is up again, and repat that process till you kill him
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
STAGE2-
You take control of the Boss you just killed and he has some abilitys too!
*Sword attack (forget name)
*Flame breath (AoE attack)
*Axe throw *Note must be at ranged to use
*Super Jump
*Essance steal (life drain pretty much) *Note- Must be at range to use
*Ultimate attack (takes 1 Charged focus crystal AND I STONGLY RECOMEND HAVING ONE FOR THIS STAGE)
Strat- Pretty much your goal is to kill 3 vial spitter guys (the big guy that spawns). They are fairly simple, just run arround, Flame breath the little guys if you want, use your melee attack, fight them off as best you can, once a big guy spawns use your super jump on him, then your melee attack, and run away and hit him with your thowing axe. After that i usually use essance steal on one of the little mobs to gain some life, then super jump again when its up, and repeat that for 3 of the spawns, i finished all 3 with 80% life so its not that hard if you keep the little guys under controll, the big guys stunned/kited and use the steal essence when up/needed.
BOSS2- This guy deals MASSIVE damage, but in order to deal that massive damage he must cast. So use your axe throws, and super jumps wisly, use your essence steal ability on the remaining little guys as needed, keep the debuff you get through your melee attack on him at all times, and if worst comes to worse use your ultimate, which reflects his spells and deals massive damage to him. (This also kills all the little guys so use it wisly cause once you use it, you have no heals.)

STAGE3-
Stage 3 is like the other ones, you take control of the boss you just killed and he has new abilitys!
FIRE FORM-
*Fire bolt
*Flame Buffet
*Skill that takes fire debuff off you
Shadow Form-
*Shadow bolt thing (USE THIS AS YOUR MAIN HEAL!)
*Siphon Life (Heals you for 2100 every few seconds) (DoT spell)
*Shadow nova (Heals you for some damage) (Instant)
Ice Form-
*Frost bolt
*Frost Nova
*Ice Block (Reflects Damage!)
*Ultimate (usuable in any form) I forget what all it does, but it does diffrent things for each form your in, and costs 2 Charged crystal focuses
Strat-
*NOTE-I only got to the 2second guy in stage3 and wiped, but im pretty sure i know how to kill the second one now, so ill give out the strat.*
BOSS1
Basicly a one eyed monster will spawn and this guy is insanly easy if you know how to do it. He puts disruptor webs down on the ground which stun you, so avoid those. He deals these small damage attacks which if you have siphon life up should heal you through them, or close to. Then he has one MASSIVE damage attack called death gaze. When he is casting death gaze (which is a 5sec cast i believe) switch over to ice form, and cast iceblock when there is about 1-2 seconds left in the cast. This will reflect the spell onto the one eyed monster for like 50,000 damage or so. So just kite him arround reflecting those spells using siphon life and shadow nova to heal up, and if you ever get to low use your main shadow attack with siphon life up and you can get a big heal :D.
BOSS2- This is a dog that only deals melee damage, so the choice should be quite simple, kite. Just use frost nova when its up, keep siphon life up, frost bolt when you have the chance, and just keep kiting the dog arround using nova when needed. If he catches up to you (which he probally will) just ice block, and nova when you come out :D
*Thats as far as i have got so far, hope it helps you guys out*

Ultimate is a super strike.
If you have flame buffet on target this skill deals more damage.
If your target is frozen, this skill deals 3x damage.
I forget the shadow aspect of it, but you would want to go flame aspect, flame buffet, go ice aspect and do ice leap, then use it. Costs two charged crystal focuses.
My strategy for Phase 1 is to Mortal Strike mobs till the sheild is near 50%, then they spawn alot faster, start using charge at minimum range near imps, this will kill dogs too, use AoE fear and whirlwind when they return to get more, keep hammering sheild. When boss comes keep mortal striking and fear when he uses fel flames, then charge and keep mortal striking.
Phase 2 is a little trickier, you want to use super jump a lot, I would strafe and super jump consistently to deal with smaller mobs, using drain life at 75% and that will bring you back to full. When the bigger demons come use super jump, double strike (more damage against stunned) if that crits it will knock off half his health, then strafe and axe throw, go back in and use double strike, strafe away and super jump. Rinse and repeat till the assasin comes out. When the assasin first spawns I suggest using the ult which consumes a charged crystal focus, she can be a hard boss if you can't stun good and this gets rid of the adds. Use a stun-lock/doublestrike strategy as she will quickly hurt your health while healing herself.
Phase 3 is very difficult, I got the eye to 40% by using siphon life, shadow nova, and death coil (doubly named due to its double effect of damage and healing). When he emotes he's charging his power, switch to ice aspect and iceblock as sojourn says, If you have more than one charged crystal focus on you, save it for the last boss, who is insanely hard and needs lots of damage. I got the eye to 40% using just one crystal focus.
Also it is worth noting that getting to phase 2 awards 20 apexis shards, and getting to phase 3 awards 40. Defeating the boss may reward more, and supposedly an epic item.

Just finished the demon-controlling thing. Here are my insights.
The stuff posted above is great, read it and use it, it makes the fights easier.
On the big eye thing the most important thing to remember is use ice block. when he starts to focus intently, switch to ice form and use ice block to reflect it.
On the dog that spawns after him, occasionally switch to shadow form to put up a siphon life, but in general do the whole fight in fire form. Not ice, but fire. The reason being that fire form has a 30% speed boost to stay away from him and most importantly that you can cleanse the debuff he puts on you in fire form. The debuff slows your run speed and deals a large amount of damage to you every 3 seconds, so as soon as you get it, dispell it. Other then that, just keep hitting him with flame buffet and running around, pyroblast him when you get room, maybe go ice form after you purge the debuff to freeze him then frostbolt him, but that's risky. I would personally advise bringing a fire mage along to help you, the debuff will make them all giddy AND they'll make the fight go alot faster. Basically you will net life from the siphon life on this fight, the dog should rarely hit you, other then with the debuff which will always hit you, no matter your distance from the dog.
After the dog is the big guy...hope you're good with switching forms by now.
His abilities are as follows:
Shadow bolt, deals ~3-4k dmg.
Shadow debuff: Increases the shadow dmg you take by 10000 (or so...was kinda busy with the fight...).
Immolate: Does ~3k dmg, ticks for ~3k dmg.
Incinerate: Does alot of dmg, I think it hit me once and I decided not to let it hit me again.
Magnetic pull: Pulls you to him.
Teleport: Teleports him to a random area in the arena.
Spawn eye stalk: Fills the arena with eye stalks that drain mana.
He spawns a bunch of eye stalks that will just kinda sit there unless they've been around for too long, at which point they start draining mana and hurting you, alot. Every time he spawns a group of them, go shadow and clear out an area to run around in with shadow nova (they die in one nova), if you can, catch him in the shadow nova since the debuff will give you life. Throw a siphon life on him then go fire form. Keep stacking the flame buffet debuff on him and pyroblasting when you can, cleanse the shadow debuff he puts on you and the immolate whenever they pop up and siphon life will keep you healed. You can go ice form and freeze + frostbolt him if you want, but you get alot of dmg out of 10xfire debuff and pyroblast. Keep going, it takes awhile.
When I did it by 25% into the last phase there was a small raid helping to kill him, I'm sure that made it easier, but it wasn't hard once I figured out how to deal with him.
Wanna know what he drops? Really? Ok then.... I got, drum roll please.....
23 silver!!!
4 Netherweave Cloth!!!
A depleted 2 hand axe!!! (
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=32670
)
... And stuck in combat till I went back and killed all the left over eye stalks in the area. That's it, happy hunting.
Oh, btw, I used one crystal focus the whole fight, on the 2nd stage to clear out the adds before the shivan assassin came out. Stunlocking her and running in to melee while she's stunned then draining life from the little guys makes her easy as pie, netted life from that fight.

Here's my way of doing the Shartuul's Transporter event.
Each demon will have a set of abilities, and they must to used in conjunction with each other if you want to finish this event. The ability on the far right is a "super" and will consume 1/2 charged crystal foci when you use it.
Phase 1: Felguard
Abilities:
Mortal Strike: High damage single target, 3 second cooldown.
Whirlwind: Does about MS damage over time to every mob within melee range over a couple of seconds. (Imps run away from this.) About 15 second cooldown.
Fear: Instant AoE fear, use this to buy some time and set up a charge on the boss. 15 second cooldown
Charge: Charges to your target and deals high damage (One shots all trash) to the mob and others around it.
Life Drain: Bugged, but it can be assumed from the tooltip that it will hit every demon in the event area and drain their life. Consumes 1 crystal focus.
Strategy:
MS the felhounds.
Charge the imps if you feel like it. (The imps usually don't get one shotted by MS, but you can MS them if you want.)
Use whirlwinds on imps during the beginning, once felhounds start spawning in more than 4, wait for them to gather up on you and whirlwind.
Use charge on approaching mobs to take care of large groups.
Use throw hammer whenever it's up, once the shield reaches 0%, the boss spawns and all remaining adds die.
Boss: Doomguard thing.
Very easy, doable even with only 30% health. Start the fight with a charge, MS, then whirlwind. Fear him when charge is up, and repeat the cycle.
Get him down to low health and you'll take control of the new demon.
Phase 2: Doomguard
Abilities:
Punishing Blow: Similiar to Felguard's Mortal Strike. However, does triple damage against stunned targets.
Fire Breath: Does about 3k dps to targets in a cone in front of you.
Throw Knife: Does minimal damage (about 2k) and stuns for 3 seconds.
Super Jump: Does damage to everything in about a 5 yard radius from you and jumps to your target. Deals the same damage to mobs around the spot you land on. Stuns for 3 seconds.
Consume Gan'arg: Does about 80% damage to a Gan'arg and heals you for damage done.
Ultimate Jump: Flies into the air, becoming completely immune and bombs everything below you to death. Only usable once during the phase. Save if for the boss.
Strategy:
During this phase, get a good feeling with strafing (only need 5 yards for the minimum range on your attacks). It is imperative that you are able stun the mobs, in order to get the most out of your punishing strikes.
For the first few waves, only small Gan'arg will spawn. Gan'args will try to run off somewhere and summon a fel cannon, which will be the main source of damage done to you. Super jump onto the Gan'arg doing a channel into the ground and kill him (alternatively, consume it for health).
Later into the phase, larger acid spewing demons will spawn. When you see one spawn, immediately super jump it, PS, strafe, throw, PS, and use fire breath to finish it and the adds off.
After a couple waves, the boss will come from the teleporter.
Boss: Shivan Assassin
I advise using the super when the Shivan Assassin spawns. It'll get rid of the adds and deal massive damage to the boss.
The boss is basically a stronger version of the big Gan'arg. Super jump, PS, strafe, throw axe, PS, fire breath, strafe, axe, PS, strafe, super jump, and so on so forth.
Once you get to 20%, you take control of the Shivan Assassin and go into the third and final phase.

Phase 3: Shivan
Abilities:
Fire Form: 30% extra speed.
Pyroblast: Fire damage.
Flame Buffet: Instant cast, increases fire damage done to target. Stacks to 10 times.
Fire Cleanse: Removes all(?) debuffs from you.
Shadow Form:
Shadowbolt: Shadow damage, heals you for damage done if Siphon Life is on the target. However, consumes the Siphon Life.
Siphon Life: Drains life from target, lasts 1 min.
Shadow Nova: AoE damage, applies a drain life debuff.
Ice Form:
Frostbolt: Frost damage, damage tripled if target is frozen.
Frost Nova: Frost novas and jumps back.
Ice Block: 4 second immunity, reflects spells.
Chaos Strike: Does high damage and increases damage done by you. Consumes 2 foci.
Damage done increased by applications of Flame Buffet.
Damage triples if target is frozen.
Weakens (50,000 less damage done) if target is afflicted by drain life.
IT IS A RANGED ATTACK
First Boss: Eyeballs.
Simple fight. Apply Siphon Life, go into fire form and flame buffet/pyroblast him. Switch back into shadow and shadowbolt when siphon life time is low.
Stay out of the yellow electric charges, when he emotes his Dark Glare attack, go into ice and use ice block, this will do 50k damage to the eye and prevents 100k damage from being taken.
After eye dies, you fight the dog.
Dreadmaw
Start the fight off with siphon, and go into fire form.
Whenever he emotes "Dreadmaw lashes out...", cast fire cleanse on yourself.
Try to get to 100% before killing the boss. You shouldn't take damage from him at all.
Final Boss: Shartuul
When the fight starts, he summons eye tentacles all over the area. These tentacles do a mind flay that slows and does abuot 10k damage over time. These mind flays STACK.
Shartuul has a couple abilities:
Magnetic Pull: Pulls you to him, usually just interrupts casting.
Teleport: Used with Magnetic Pull, ports to another spot. Usually behind you.
Shadowbolts: Negligible damage.
Immolate: This hurts, will tick away 1% at a time for your demon.
Silencing Shot graphic debuff: Increases shadow damage taken by a lot.
As usual, start the fight off with a siphon life and go into fire form.
Start stacking up flame buffets. Be sure you cleanse the shadow damage and immolate off immediately.
After you remove a debuff, move back into shadow form and shadowbolt. Wait for the shadowbolt to hit Shartuul then reapply siphon. Shadow nova the tentacles. Return to fire form.
Repeat until you have 10 flame buffets stacked up. At this time(if siphon life has been applied as it should be), switch into frost form, wait for forms cooldown, frost nova, and hit shartuul with a 300k Chaos Strike. Immediately switch to shadow form and do a 50k shadowbolt to heal yourself to full.
Repeat the above strategies and Shartuul should be dead in no time.

A bit of additional info for Phase 2:
A number of people (here and elsewhere) have mentioned that the Fel Cannons are the primary concern for Phase 2. This is not true. I thought that it was at first, but after getting completely crushed after a cannon-oriented attempt, I looked through my combat log and finally saw what the real problem was.
The Mo'arg Tormenters love to cast a spell called Acid Geyser. It's a channeled spell that does over 3000 damage per second for around five seconds. For comparison's sake, the little guys melee for around 350-450 and the cannons hit for 500. Acid Geyser was what was killing me every time.
So whenever you see a Mo'arg Tormenter, your number one priority should be keeping it stunned and meleeing it down as fast as possible. Ignore the little guys, ignore the Fel Cannons; the only thing important enough to be worth diverting your attention is life draining. Once the Tormenter is dead, THEN deal with the rest...the little guys will be mostly dead from all your super jumps by then anyway.
So far, this is the only strategy which has yielded any kind of success for me. I was well over 50% health when the boss came up, and I had been about to finish her off with a bombing run when WoW crashed for no apparent reason (imagine my delight).
Ultimately, the point is that while Fel Cannons are a nuisance and need to be dealt with sooner or later, Acid Geyser is what kills in this fight.

I'll have to add to my Shartuul guide again.
First, Shartuul has another ability, Incinerate.
It does a huge amount of damage (15% life or so), so the only real way to overcome it is:
1) Outrange it, it doesn't seem to have as high of a range as shadowbolt.
2) Iceblock and reflect it, you do some damage to him but you end up having to wait for form CD
3) Heal through it, it's been what I've been doing. If I end up getting hit I just pop a chaos strike shadowbolt heal and keep going.

Beat it two days ago, and got the Darkrune again today. Figured it'd be easy, but no. The gan'args seemed to be shielding the mo'arg, making him immune to dmg. I don't recall this from last time. Any info on this?

Channeled shield by the small mo'args to make the big ones invincible, just use a superjump to stun the small ones first.

After reading all these comments I was hoping to get to the 2nd phase with my first attempt, but it wasn't to be. I've tried 2 times now and never broken the initial shield - got to 10% first time and only 40% the second. The problem has been that I can't figure out how low my health is - I just die and there is no indication. If I click on my portrait, it just shows as 100%. I got my wife - a fellow WoW player to watch the battle and she also couldn't see what I was doing wrong. I am using X-perl Unitframes so perhaps it is related to that. Can someone tell me where I can monitor the felguard health?

Has anyone noticed the transporter event being disabled? Since about one and a half days now, the transporter platform ist constantly burning on my server, and no felguard degrader spawns. Using the item won't start the event either.
I don't think it's possible I always arrived after someone beat the event so it could be temporarily disabled afterwards, because I've checked multiple times, and the one time I beat the event the degrader respawned almost instantly.
So, what's wrong with that?

Helpful friends:
Your friends can help you, but you gotta be careful they don't bug your event. A lot of the mechanics of the event prevent the spawns from aggroing your buddies. First off your demon does a ton more damge than they could ever do. You don't have to worry about over aggroing for the most part. Second, your debuffs and stuns can help a ton as can your immobilize effects. Here are a few things to watch for.
Rule 1: Watch out for AE effects. They will wtfpwn you.
Rule 2: Never attack the boss when he gets below 30%. You can bug the event that way on the demon possesion.
Rule 3: Never get aggro on the boss. This can bug the event on the demon possesion.
Phase 1: No help needed. It's ez-mode.
Phase 2: Cannons don't shoot PCs. Be sure to exploit that. You can have your buddies destroy the cannons at no risk. Stuns work great on the boss to help your demon's punishing blow do more damage. Just remember to stop attacking at about 30%. Also watch out for the big guys' acid geyser. That will wtfpwn you in 2 ticks.
Phase 3: Watch out for the stun traps on the ground. Locks are great with their curse of shadows and curse of elements. Flame Buffet really helps out your fire spells. Shadow Priests can really help with their +shadow damage talent. Stack that up for maximum life drain power. Fire mages will wet themselves if you can get a huge flame buffet stack.
Phase 4: Ez-Mode. You friends can help, but you shouldn't loose this fight.
Phase 5: Much like phase 3 but you have Evard's Spiked Tentacles of Forced Intrusion to worry about.

Some people might screw up on Shiva Assassin because of the randomness of the fight(sometimes she use weak attacks against you, sometimes she spams Flame Buffet and Pyro). Good way to get her down is always keeping her stunned, super jump, punishing blow(once), run away, axe toss, punishing blow(once), run away, super jump again, and repeat. This is a safe way to do it.
And a little exploit here, if she frost nova you, use your dive bomb(ultimate ability) RIGHT AWAY. Frost nova will bug this ability, you will get the relfectability but you still gain control of your character(lol). so basically you're immune to everything and you're able to attack. You can imagine how fast SA goes down like that =)

It seems the tentacles are currently bugged, and will not mind flay, thus making the fight with Shartuul easier than intended.
They will, however, mind flay your character (for 6-7k or so) if there are any left after the fight, so watch out for that.

Did this today for the 5th time or so and ran into an issue. the imps in phase 1 literally resisted every single one of my charges. Not sure if it's a recent bug, but it's pretty annoying and made the felguard a bit more difficult since my health was much lower than it should have been.

If you're like me, then you are wondering why you need to even do any of these things listed above. It is not for a quest, you don't get any large amounts of gold or rep...so what's the point?
Well, the final mob you have to kill drops

some phat loot items.
That is all. I hope that helps for those of us that needed a reason to start this long, hard, annoying event. :P

this bugged out on me some how on the first fight.. i got the boss, the doomguard punisher and end up KILLING him, i never took control of him and went onto the next phase.
i did have eyes up from someone elses attempt still up and just killed those while i was early in phase1.
but it was weird how i was able to just kill him off really quick instead of taking control of the punisher.

Maybe someone can shed some light on the problem I am having. I have managed to get through the first phase in spite of the Fel hounds dodging Mortal strike at a rediculous rate and the Imps resisting charge almost every time. If the boss resists a fear it gets pretty close as the Fel Flames seems to be dealing an insane ammount of damage.
Phase 2 I run into a problem. The drain life will not cast. I tried this twice in both attemts I got the drain to cast sucessfully one time each. It is not on cooldown when I am trying again. I am not having any problem killing the big guys as then spawn. They seem to resists my stuns a lot but between the two stuns they aren't hard. I do take some damage from acid geyser and this causes me to need to heal. After I kill the big guy, I start SPAMMING the heal button on one of the remaining small guys, and it simply doesn't cast. Do I have to be holding still? Does it have a small dead zone like the jump and axe throw abilites? Can it not be cast when channeling Fel flames? It is extremely frustrating when I know I could pass this event if I could figure out why I am not healing correctly.

As of today 07/20, it seems the demon you have to control is finally debugged. Other things are bothering me though, since i've attempted this quest before and got to last phase, somethings feel overbugged right now:
First boss has an fire aoe/shield that took me from 80% to 0% in like 10 secs. I've feared him to avoid the damage, but when he came back to melee it just went on.
The special abilitie of your demon (drain life) seems not to work? I've tried it in every possible way: vs 1 mob, when surrounded by 20mobs, on boss, etc... And i never received any health back. But of course, it consumed my cristals. So beware not to spam that ability when you think you've missclicked or something..
Gotta hate that after performing 23 dailies before finally getting my darkrune...

UPDATE :: Phase 2
Well, last time i got to phase 3 using the super ability in phase 2 so i thought phase 2 would be a breeze this time around....how wrong i was.
The little guys now Heal the spawned tormentor by ways of a channeling spell (U see a red ray from the little guy to the tormentor).
This landed me in a heap of trouble on tormentor Nr 2 and 3 as i didn´t kill them fast enough and i had to resort to the super ability to finish off tormentor 3, i was still in the air when the Shivan Assassin appeared and simply put, did NOT reflect her spells and she ate me alive while i was in the air and could do nothing about it.
Not sure when they changed the event but ive never seen them heal the big ones before and haven´t seen it in any guide/discussion about the event.
Nor am i sure what happened while in the air, either this was somehow bugged for me or else they´ve nerfed the super ability quite a bit.

Apologies if it has all been posted, but phase 2 melee ability is "punishing blow", best to do a stun (axe throw or super jump) on the pre bosses and main before doing it as it does 3x the damage against stunned foes.
while in control of the Shiva assasin (the boss u kill in phase 2) i found it best to switch between ice and shadow forms only for this one (the eye thing), shadow bolt a bit and siphon life, switch to ice ice block when he does his glare to reflect it and freeze him in place with the nova if he gets close, use the first ability in shadow form only when siphon life is up for the extra health regen.
for the dog stay in fire and shadow for the duration, u won't need ice but u can if he gets close to nova him in place, always keep siphon life on him then switch back to fire asap, keep the buffet up as it stacks to 10 and damages when you use it, use the cleanse thing when u get the emote on screen and just keep running in a circle around the transporter switching direction if the dog does.
when you beat the dog and shartuul comes, again i stayed fire and shadow, the siphon life keeps u pretty much on whatever health you was when you started the fight, shadow nova him and the tentacle adds for the instant health regen also while in shadow form but try to stay as fire as much as u can to cleanse the debuffs he gives, if you manage to keep him on one side of the transporter and you on the other (from corner to corner i mean) when he begins to cast incinerate you can just back up to the corner and will be out of range, was a fairly easy fight tbh, was my first time on him the other day and beat him with over 20% health without using the special on him or the 2 before ( used it once against the shiva) sorry for wall of spam :)

Well two bugs I have found so far for this event:
1. The demon from second stage of the event won't show up. Once the first demon you control broke the shield, nothing happens. The second demon just stays in the bubble and won't come out.
2. When you control you first demon, somehow you point of view is switched from the demon to yourself, you will see yourself lying on the platform and unable to move. Meanwhile you still have the toolbar for the demon, but you can't move it.
So yeah...pretty much another bug-prone mechanism, much like many other of blizzard's fancy stuffs, ah well, I guess they are bound to be broken from time to time. And of course the gm won't refund your darkrune, they never do much of anything anyway.

You must complete the quest "Banishing More Demons" for that day before you can turn in the darkrune. Sent in MANY GM tickets to figure out why I couldn't turn in my darkrune. I had a darkrune in my inventory, and gronks grab bag (which had a darkrune in it but since they are unique it wasn't visable therefore not lootable.) Since I couldn't turn in the banishing more demons quest because I had gronks grab bag (which is unique also) I ended up having to delete the bag to turn in the quest and get the crystal forged darkrune. Supposed to be fixed in the next patch to where you can turn in the darkrune without having the complete banishing more demons quest.

Giving this my first two tries today, I screwed up the first attempt. On the second one I got to the 1st demon easily and was doing well. I had him down to 3% health or so with maybe 50% of my own and decided to just mortal strike him down. -Except I couldn't kill him. I saw something similar posted on a related thread and thought to mention it here. Others are finding you can't kill him while he's doing his flame thing. Suuuuucked.

I've successfully done this event now multiple times without using a single healthstone.
One important thing I noticed last night that everyone should watch out for happens during the battle against the Shiva assassin.
If she casts flame buffet on you, MAKE SURE you kill all the cannons. I was at full HP and I started noticing my HP dropping very very fast and she wasn't attacking me. Well the cannons do fire damage to you which normally hit for 200-300 IIRC, but now they are doing 10,000 more damage and that will kill you if you don't take care of them immediately.

Having the Doomguard Punisher resist a Terrifying Roar during Fel Flames is instant death.
It sorta sucks.
Aside from that, it's quite possible to do the entire event without using a single special attack. For the Shivan Assassin battles, all the Chaos Strike really does is make it faster. If you can Death Blast every Siphon Life, you shouldn't have a problem.

Here's some "clever use of game mechanics" to make Shartuul incredibly easy and let you never dip below 95% HP:
Bring a shaman along, have him/her drop Grounding Totem.
Every ability Shartuul uses (except immolate) will be redirected to the totem and doesn't even cause the totem to die! This means you can ignore everything (except immolate) and do as you please. No need to ice block incinerate and hardly any need to syphon life. :)
Also, don't worry about cannons being up when the assassin breaks free. The whole fight there is keeping her stunlocked. Pop the cone flame move after a super jump, move away and use the range stun and repeat. The cannons don't do much damage and she'll never get time to stack flame buffet high.

I just tried this event again, and I used the Shivan Assassin's Chaos Strike (her special) twice on Shartuul when he had Siphon Life on him, then followed it up with Death Blast, but my life bar didn't even look like it moved. :( Was this nerfed in the 2.2 patch?

For what it's worth, I don't think it's impossible for a human, but with the seeming randomness of his Incinerate, I think you are pretty much required to use a couple of Chaos Strike's to inflict some massive damage so he dies before you do. An unlucky shift so you can't Ice Block Incinerate SUCKS. Siphon Life > Chaos Strike > Death Blast was a nice insurance policy against such a thing... no longer.

Just managed to complete this 'quest'.
No real rewards but I got 825reputation with Ogri'la as a Human.
I didn't have to use any shards.
Phase1 boss is just Mortal strike, fear and charge when cd is up.
Phase2 boss Punishing blow ONLY when boss is stunned.
Get range(STRAFE, don't walk backwards) and use axes whenever possible, also Super-jump. If you get a chance, get life from a Gan'arg.
Phase3 1st boss (Eye-boss), stack flame buffet, always have siphon life up. Try to not switch form too much, incase he starts loading dark glare since you have to get into frost form and take ice block before he does it. Much dmg if you don't. :(
2nd boss (Dog), apply siphon, start stacking flame buffat and spam pyroblast. Whenever he charges you, use Fire cleanse asap and run away from hit to take no dmg at all. Kite him with flamebuffet/pyroblast etc.
3rd boss (last), Siphon life, use shadow nova on tentacles, stack flame buffets, cleanse debuffs asap, pyroblast-spam. Consume your siphon life at 50s-mark or so and reapply. Remember to go into Frostform and iceblock at his incinerate-spell.

Anyone know the spawn rate of the demon who starts the event?

Some tips&tricks for this event:
Phase 1:
If you run out of the zone, the pullback spell will get you enough range to do a charge on anything you want.
Phase 2:
During superjump, you gain enough height to cast consume gan'arg as you fly.
Axe throw also does 3x damage when stunned, nice for some extra damage.
The key for using flame breath is to cancel target, activate, then retarget. (As of 11-04-07 the breath is bugged and breaks if the current target dies or you change targets.)
If the Shivan Assassin freezes you in place, you can use the super and stay on the ground, you're still immune to spells and are shooting out meteors.
Phase 3:
The eye's beam damage has been nerfed, so you can actually ignore ice form entirely and do the fire form, buffet, shadowform, shadowbolt for health routine without losing too much health.
The dog's been buffed quite a bit, he now runs at an increased rate during the charge, KEEP MOVING and you won't be hit until a couple seconds after the charge ends, by then you should've cleansed the slow off.
If's a good idea to pick one area and keep it cleared of tentacles instead of trying to follow shartuul around. You can actually run behind the pillars marking the ring and hit him from behind there, and not worry about the magnetic pull.
Chaos strike only takes one foci now, take advantage of this and use a 10 flame buffet -> Chaos strike -> Frost Nova -> Second Chaos strike to knock out 50+% of Shartuul's health for only two foci.

Something weird happened today (2.3 patch newly deployed). I was a bit sleepy on the 2nd demon and decided to pop its special to clean up a bit.
(Extra piece of info: While floating around, it struck me as a good idea to lifedrain a worker, and that surprisingly worked.)
Anyway, after a bit of pointing and laughing at things dying on the ground, the assassin popped with me still floating around in the air. And I reflected
NOTHING
to it. It just blasted away at me while I could do nothing to it, just helplessly float around and watch the asssassin range me down. No fun at all :(

It appears that phase 3 is not possible to complete, or even begin, since the 2.3 patch. On two consecutive tries, I've made it to the point of Shartuul arriving through the portal, uttering some nonsense about having "reserved his favorite pets for just such an occasion", and he's just about to shaft to the ground and spawn the Eye, when nothing happens. Nothing. He just stands there, looking rathermuch like a dumb blonde. I sat around for 30 minutes the first time without anything happening.
And don't bother issuing a ticket. It'll just take you 2 hours to get a reply, and the reply will be "thanks for letting us know, we'll forward this to the dev team, and we're sorry but we can't do anything to help you out".
Save your darkrunes until the next patch.

I attempted to do this quest event earlier today only to have it completely bug out on me. After reaching the part where you possess the Shivan Assassin, Shartuul showed up as usual in order to summon the first of his pets. The pet however, never spawned so I found myself possessing a demon with no way of proceeding with the event without resetting it, before I could contact a GM I tried to run out of the 'event' area and immediatly died.
I'm trying to contact a GM about it right now but from previous experiences I'm pretty sure I'll just get the usual "We have no way of finding out if the event bugged or not so we can't give you the Darkrune back which you lost due to us continually managing to fuck this quest up with every patch"
Ah well, guess I'll try again in another 5 days.

Today (after many months of practice) I beat the entire event without using one super attack
Phase 1: Never miss a cooldown on Shield Smash, dont be afraid to use fear when the shield is over 25%, group the felhounds up and charge a nearby imp to wipe them all out.
Boss: Fear and run in the opposite direction for as long as you can. Charge and Mortal Strike, then fear again. Rinse and repeat and you will take minimal damage.
Phase 2: Try to always keep fel flames up, never miss a cooldown on Consume Granarg. When one runs off to create a cannon: Axe Throw, Consume, Punishing Blow. If you keep fel flames up, it will interrupt the immunity shield the little guys put on the tormentors. Tormentors: Axe, Punsish, run, Super Jump, Punish, Axe, Punish, dead.
Boss: 2 Extra Granarg spawn when the boss comes, consume them when you can. Just keep the boss stunned with Axe and Super Jump and you can't lose. (I had 98% Health when this boss died)
Phase 3: Same strategy for ALL 3 Bosses:
Start in shadow, Siphon, Switch to fire.
Flame buffet and pyro until you have 3 Flame buffets up, switch back to Shadow and Death blast (and shadow nova) before siphon wears off. Back to fire until you have 6 Buffets, then back to shadow.
If you death blast every siphon life and always keep siphon up, you can heal through both Dark Glare and Incinerate.
Shartuul will summon more Eye stalks every 30 seconds or so, if you can time it so that you are in shadow form at this time you can Shadow Nova the tentacles without losing any DPS time.

Event skill seems to be twitchy/bug-prone:
I tried this for the first time last night (I have watched the Youtube videos and read the comments here, all very helpful).
I didn't expect to get very far, but thought I should try to get the handle of the controls.
As I was trying to do it some Horde jerk kept buzzing me with his flying mount. Okay, I thought, he's just watching and doesn't realize how close he is.
Then he,repeatedly, would land right on some of the enemy demons (especially the imps) making it hard to target them (clicked on him half the time). Well, my demon died before I even got the to the first boss. So I start to leave but see that the jerk has started the event for himself. Well, that confirms that he was screwing with me on purpose (that's right up there with Horde that kill Aether Rays you're trying to wrangle).
I figure I might as well watch him do the event, maybe get a pointer or two. Well , the event bugged after he possessed the Shivan Assassin (Shartuul's shadow had appeared but he never summoned the beholder/eye-demon). I hung around for awhile but eventually jerk-o ran his demon out of bounds and it died, ending the event.

ive made a few attemps and this is the way i did it
first par : degrader
skills ,
1-mortal strike (melee attack) 3 secs cd
2-whirlwind 15 secs cd,
4 fear 15 secs cd
5 chaos charge, 15 secs cd (does an aoe on target)
7 shield breaker (25 secs cd , do ASAP)
the way i do it i dont use a crystal
use the shield breaker as soon as its cooled down
do mortal strikes on the first mobs , youll most likely kill em 1 shot ,
when you start having alot of mobs , wait till their all on you and fear em , then you got 2 choices you can do whirlwind, or , as i prefer , do a chaos charge as it does an aoe upon hitting the enemy that hits for 20-25 k aoe , do this all the long till the "boss" comes out
the boss uses very few skills, he uses mortal strike, fel flames, and axe throw
all you have to do is start bashing him asap , wait till he casts fel flames, fear him, wait 1-2 secs , and as soon as you can use chaos charge, itll interupt the fear but will deal him a mass of dmg ( ~ 25 %) you need to use charge very soon after the fear thought else hell go out of you range and hell come back b4 you have a chance to charge and hell throw an axe wich takes about 15 % of your health , by using the charge you force him to stay close so he cant throw it , just repeat those 2 phase and of course use whirldwind and mortal strikes while waiting for fel flames you should kill him in 2-3 charges
2nd part : demon
this one imo is one of the easyest when you know how to do it , but when you dont its realy hard
demon skills :
1- mocking blow (reduces dmg by 50 % and deals 300 % if the target is stunned)
2- fel flames, ~ 4k a tick for 10 secs attacks in a cone in front of you
4- axe throw , throws an axe that stuns the enemy and hits for about 10-15 k
5- drain life , deals ~ 40-50 k dmg to a mob and heals a part of it to you , use as soon as you hit 90 % or below
7 super jump , you jump in the air stuning the mobs around you , and were youll land
8- flying special , jump in the air and throw some kinda fel boulders to ground mobs (not great)
in this one , all you have to do is use mocking blow on the small mobs until you see the first ghan arg extrator mob,
when you see the extrator guys target em very quickly and use super jump , throw an axe as well , the mob will be stunned for ~ 10 secs, meanwhile you can do your mocking blow 3-4 times wich will kill him , when thats done the adds will most likely be out of the stun so just start going backwards and when their all in front of you use fel flames, you will most likely kill em all ,
rinse and repeat those steps till your got 3 extractor down , thats when the shivan assassin will come out , she has 3 forms, she will most likely go into fire and shadow form , shes about as easy as the extractor , super jump , throw your axe, use mocking blow , if you see shes casting something walk back a bit throw your axe and keep using mocking blow
part 3 : shivan assassin
FIRE FORM-
Ice Form-
*Frost bolt
*Frost Nova
*Ice Block (Reflects Damage!)
since i didnt manage to kill the first boss very efficiently and died on the 2nd , ill make more attempts and give the rest when ive been able to do it

I've found that, and this is all circumstancial evidence, but when you gain control of the Shivan Assassin DO NOT MOVE. 99% of the time, if I move around Shartuul will fail to spawn the Eye, whereas if I do not move he will spawn. It's dumb, but it has worked for me so far.

This may be stating the obvious for most people, but since I didn't see it mentioned in any of the above posts:
When you start the event, you lose your Crystalforged Darkrune (it is consumed) whether you succeed or fail.
评论来自
Darkwell
Just a side note, to anyone attempting this quest as of 2.3.3:
According to multiple GMs, the Shartuul event is a known bug, and frequently fails. Unfortunately, if it fails, you still lose your Crystalforged Darkrune, and the GMs can only refund it several times before they won't anymore.
So, if you're planning on doing Shartuul, just be forewarned that you may lose your chance if he bugs up.

New bug for me today.
I used the Ultimate Jump special move when the Shivan Assassin came out at the end of phase 2.
It seemed to be doing fine as I glided around reflecting her spells and throwing fireballs, but as soon as I landed I took off as if I used the special again.
Like before, I glided around in a circle but this time it did not reflect spells or shoot fireballs. So other than using the throw axe ability to stun her for a few seconds, I was helpless as she was able to cast her damage spells. I was at 100% health after landing the first time... after landing the second time I had around 42% health and she had over 80%.
I got her down to where one more Mortal Strike would have finished the phase, but unfortunately she got that last Pyroblast off.
I've been doing the Shartuul event ever since they put in the Blade's Edge dailies, and it's ridiculous how many times I've failed because of a bug.
I'd say 50% of the time I beat Shartuul, 10% of the time I lose due to my own stupidity, and 40% of the time I fail due to bugs.

Just did the assassin and had a good go at her until after a while I used my superjump thingy, got her down to like 17% and then suddenly she healed herself back to 80% again, no idea how that happened. And it seems like the ability bugged because when I came back down I went up in the air again (this is when she healed) after which I pretty much died in the air since I couldn't reflect her spells for some reason.
Perhaps it bugged because I should have used it earlier or something, and she wanted me to possess her but couldn't since I was up and about in the air.
Speculations though...

My guide to Shartuul
----------------------------------------------------------------
- Well first you need a Crystalforged Darkrune, which you get by turning in a darkrune to Gahk, the guy with the blue ? over his head. You get a darkrune by having 5 Darkrune fragments. You can get a Darkrune Fragment and possibly a Darkrune by doing the
Banishing the Demons
quest : (You need to be honored i think)
Darkrune Fragment(x5)
= Darkrune -
Darkrune
= Crystalforged Darkrune -
Crystalforged Darkrune = Shartuul Event
Before we begin i'd like to begin with all the items you can possibly get:
http://wowhead.com/?search=depleted
Ok now lets get started on the Strategy for this event
Be sure you have at least 3
Charged crystal focus's
if this is your first time!
-----------------------
Phase 1 - Felguard
--------------------------
Spells
Names may not be correct
Mortal Strike -
Deals damage to your current target
Kills everything in one hit except imps
Whirlwind
- Spins around for a few seconds dealing damage to nearby units.
Very usefull if your surrounded by 5+ mobs, remember this is a channeling spell
Charge
- Charges a unit then deals aoe damage around the target.
Kills all units instantly, its a good idea to use on imps only
Aoe Fear
- Fears all units around you.
Use it as an alternative to Whirlwind & charge
Throw Hammer
- Use it whenever its ready to destroy the portal
**VERY IMPORTANT** once the portal is destroyed the boss will spawn!
Aoe Drain Life
- **Drains everybody's life around you, healing you.
You really shouldn't need to use this. But if you do take note that it costs one Charged crystal focus
Strategy
You only need to do 4 important things in this phase
1. Mortal strike anything that moves (except imps)
2. Charge the imps
3. Whirlwind when there are 5+ mobs around you
4. Throw your hammer at the portal
There really isn't much to explain other then that. In the beginning there won't be many mobs that spawn so you shouldn't have a problem. All you need to do is charge the imps that come and kill everything, no need to whirlwind yet.
On the 2nd part of the battle
a lot of mobs will spawn on you . When this happens an imp won't spawn on you for a while. So what i do is i do 3 mortal strikes then whirlwind. An imp usually spawns after that and i charge it, everything dies.
If whirlwind & Charge is on cooldown then fear!
.
Thats all you need to do just keep repeating this process and remember to throw your hammer at the portal and the boss should come out.
Boss Time!
You only need to do 5 things for this boss:
1. Fear whenever its ready
2. Mortal Strike whenever its ready
3. Use charge after fear.
4. Use whirlwind after charge if its ready.
5. Basically use anything thats ready
Try this:
1. Fear
2. Mortal Strike
3. Charge
4. Mortal Strike
5. Whirlwind
6. Mortal Strike until fear is ready
7. Repeat
Strategy
Watch out for fel flames, it hurts!
When the boss spawns Fear then mortal strike him.
What if he resists my fear?
- If he resists your fear, you can't do much just use mortal strike if you haven't already then Quickly whirlwind to do as much damage as possible, then try to move back and charge while Mortal Striking him. Repeat this until fear is ready again. Although this doesn't happen often so you don't need to worry.
Yay he didn't resist my fear!
- Nice! Thats good. Just charge him mortal strike again and whirlwind. And wait until fear is up again and repeat. He should die in no time.
If you beat him while hes using fel flames you won't beable to do anymore damage to him. You have to wait for him to stop channeling and you will switch demons.
------------------------------------
Phase 2
--------------------------------------
Spells
Again, names may differ
Punishing Blow
- Deals about 12k damage and deals 3x damage to stunned units!
Instantly kills the little guys if their stunned
Fel Flames
- Its the same idea as whirlwind except it damages mobs in front of you and you can move around while using it but you need to stand still for about a second after using it.
use it when there are 3+ mobs around you
Throw Axe
- Stuns a unit for a few seconds.
You should be able to get 1 punishing blow on the stunned unit, note that its
5
- 35 yards
Drain Gan'arg
- Drains a small Gan'arg's life(the small mobs) and restores your health = to the amount drained. Try to use it on mobs with more then half life at least.
Does not work on the big mobs. Minimum range of 5. Don't forget to use this, i used to always forget
Super Jump
- Jumps up in the air, stunning and damaging all units around the casting point and landing point. Sometimes gliches and you jump to far.
Minimum range of 5. You should beable to get 2 punishing blows or even 3 if you use them quick enough. Use it whenever its ready
Fel Bomb
- Makes you invulnerable as you fly up and deal damage to all enemies.
You can only use this once, save it for the boss! Uses up 1 Charged crystal focus
Strategy
1. Superjump whenever a group of mobs spawn then punishing blow 2-3 times right after.
2. Fel flame if 3+ mobs are on you. *Remember its NOT channeling but you have to wait a second after casting before moving.
3. Throw axe at anybody that tries to make a cannon and finish him off with punishing blow.
If throw axe is on cooldown then super jump, if both is on cooldown then let him build it unless he has low health.
4. Try to use Drain Gan'arg on mobs that have more then half health.
How do i kill the big guys?
- The big mobs usually spawn with a bunch of little guys around him, you wanna kill him ASAP so super jump him Punishing blow him to death. And fel flame in between that.
Or do this:
1. Super Jump
2. Punishing Blow
3. Fel Flame
3. Punishing Blow
4. Punishing Blow
5. If hes somehow still alive, throw axe then punishing blow
Use this same combo with the little guys. When they run off to make a cannon then Super jump them or throw axe.
Boss Time
If this is your first time then there's probably a few mobs floating around, don't be afraid to use your Fel Bomb here if there are 2+ mobs still around. Get rid of them before the boss comes out!
All you need to do is stun lock her. Ignore the rest of the mobs that spawn and punishing blow while shes stun and use fel flames whenever its ready, don't forget to drain the adds!
*Remember Super jump you can land 3 punishing blows and Throw axe you can land 1 punishing blow*
1. Super Jump
2. Punishing Blow
3. Fel Flame
4. Punishing Blow
5. Punishing Blow
6. Throw Axe
7. Punishing Blow
8. Repeat

Phase 3 is on the next post!

---------------------------------
Phase 3 Shivan Assassain
---------------------------------------
Spells
Fire Form
- Increases Movement Speed by 20%
Mainly used for DPS
----------
Fireball
- Deals Fire damage to an enemy
----------
Fire Buffet
-Deals Fire damage to an enemy and increases fire damage, stacks up to 10 times
After 2 Buffets your siphon life cooldown should be done.
---------
Cleanse
- Removes one debuff
Shadow Form
Mainly used for Healing. Start every fight in this form!
----------
Chaos Bolt
- Deals shadow damage, and heals you (about 20%) if you have Siiphon Life on the mob.
----------
Siphon Life
- A debuff that heals you for about 1% each tick. Lasts 60 Seconds 30 seconds cooldown.
---------
Shadow Nova -
Deals shadow damage to all nearby units and gives them a Debuff much life siphon life, heals for about 2600 health per tick for 8 seconds.
Ice Form
Used to reflect those deadly 5 second casting spells.
----------Ice Blast - Deals Ice damage to a unit, deals extra damage if target is frozen
----------Frost nova- Freezes all units in place and you jump back about 20 yards
Ice blast does extra damage from this
----------Ice Block - Blocks and Reflects one Spell.
This is the Reason why you go into ice form!
Chaos Strike
- An interruptable spell. It will increase the effectivness of spells by 50000. The smart thing to do will be to Chaos bolt with Siphon life on him. Its more effective if you have:
Flame buffets - If you have 10x then it will heal you to full
Frozen - You dont really need to freeze him. But the extra damage is nice.
Eye Boss
Sometimes Shartuul glitches when he comes out of the portal. When this happens make a ticket, notifying a GM and tell them what happend, they will give you a dark rune
- You wanna start out in shadow form. Chaos bolt him then put Siphon life and shadow nova on him. Switch to fire form when its ready. (You wanna chaos bolt him because your siphon life and shadow nova will not work if you use it too quickly)
What do i do in Fire Form?
- In fire form just fireball him and use fire buffet whenever its ready. You dont need to worry about cleansing anything because he doesnt use any debuffs on you
What do i do in Ice Form?
- Watch out for an emote and he will begin casting a 5 second spell called
Dark Glare
. You don't want to get hit by this so switch to ice form and ice block. Then switch back to shadow and Chaos bolt and reapply your siphon life, then go back to fire. If you do get hit by Dark glare then thats expected, sometimes he does it at the wrong time, happens to everyone
Also watch out for the electrical things on the ground, they will stun you if you walk over them.
Dreadmaul
- Same as last time, start out in shadow form. Chaos bolt him then put Siphon life and shadow nova on him. Switch to fire form when its ready.
What do i do in Fire form
- Again, same as last time Fireball and Flame Buffet, except this time you have to cleanse whenever he charges. There will be an emote too so you should have no trouble seeing this.
You DO NOT! need Ice Form
When Dreadmaul charges you do not wanna get attacked by him so quickly run back and cleanse the debuff .
Only switch back to shadow form to reapply you dots after he charges.
You wanna end the fight with close to 100% health.
Shartuul
- After you kill Dreadmaul Shartuul will summon eyes that mind flay that slow you and deal damage. Take them out by Chaos bolting one and shadow nova. Then Chaos Bolt Shartuul and put Siphon Life and Shadow Nova on him. Switch to Fire Form.
He will resummon the eyes back during the fight so be ready!
What do i do in fire form?
- Same as always. Fireball + Fire Buffet but this time you need to cleanse immolate and Another debuff which i forgot the name of, it makes you very vulnerable to shadow and must be cleansed ASAP.
Be sure to keep a close watch on your debuffs because sometimes you won't even know you have a debuff, used to happen to me all the time
What do i do in Ice Form?
- Only switch to ice form when he
incinerates
. You should get an emote "Prepared to be incinerated!"
If you go below 25% then you should use a chaos strike
Make sure shartuul has siphon life on him!
then Chaos bolt him, you should jump back up to 100%. You can switch to ice form and frost nova him to deal extra damage but either way you will jump to 100% health if you have 10 fire buffets on him.
Keep in mind that Shartuul does resummon the eyes later in the match. You should see a big green boulder shot on top of the portal, so keep your eyes open. This is also a good time to put your siphon life back on him.
------------------------------------------------------------
Congratulations you defeated Shartuul!

First of all you must have a target to wirlwind, if that target dies you will stopp wirlwinding, so select a target that's not near you (an imp for instance) and you will wirllwind for the full duration, also use your charge ability as much as possible when there is a big pack of mobs because it's aoe will kill anything in it.
Sadly enough this minigame was bugged for me and as soon as i got into combat with the second demon (at 56% hp) it ended and i was stuck because i was laying on the floor dead i had to page a gm to get me out <.<

Finding this event impossible because whenever I click an action on the pet bar, my ui deselects my target and I have to reselect it everytime and I lose time in killing the npcs, anyone know what is causing this?
I want the pet bar to go in my main action so I can click the buttons, how do I do that :|

That's probably caused by an addon, I use xperl and don't have that problem.

So they pretty much broke this in 3.0.2 as the dog doesn't loose speed anymore (but still gains range) as he uses Growth. Which means by the time he's at 10-20% he's going to be running as fast as he was at 100%, only his range will be practically half the size of the arena. There's zero time to stop and cast by the time he reaches 20%, so your only hope (if you can call it that) is to keep running around the edge and using Flame Buffet. I didn't have the patience and tried to stop and cast some. Didn't work out. I guess it might work to drop into Ice, hope you get off a nova before he stomps you for 130k, and use a Focus to kill him.
Note that he doesn't stop charging either, he'll hit you once (for about 50k) per charge (doesn't seem to be any way to avoid that once he passes 50% or so anymore), and you won't have time to drain any hp back. Good luck... myself, I'm saving my darkrunes until they unbreak this. Again.

To follow up; I decided to try again since I got a surplus of darkrunes. It appears that something is wrong with the final phase (Shivan Assassin). My flame buffets were doing 2k and my pyroblasts around 12k with 10 stacks up on Dreadmaw. I'm thinking perhaps the flame buffet is having a reverse effect. Going to try again without using flame buffet at all. Boy, that's gonna make for a very long and boring fight with Shartuul if I'm right...
Update:
I was right, it was Flame Buffet - more on that in a bit. I finally beat Dreadmaw by simply dropping into shadow between charges (after curing tendon rip) and killing him with shadow novas and siphon life. It took a good deal of patience, but it worked. I got unlucky with a resist on tendon cure near the end and it nearly killed me (I was at 30% when he died).
It was on Shartuul I pinpointed the bug in Flame Buffet. It appears that 6 stacks is the breaking point. At 6 stacks, pyroblast was doing 50k or so of damage, at 7 stacks it was back down to 10k (that's 10k lower than it's starting value of 20k). After grinding my health back up (no foci left, and starting at 30% on shartuul can be painful), I went about finding a balance on using Flame Buffet. I found that spamming it as soon as CD was up until you had 4 stacks was best, and then simply refresh it when timer was running low (or you had to change stance to block or refresh siphon). Once it hit 6 stacks I let it fade and started over again. Hitting 7 stacks is bad.
With this in mind, I think Dreadmaw can be made slightly easier. Since, at the end, you basically never have time to cast any pyro's, letting the buffet fade around 50% and then remembering to let it fade when it hits 6 stacks once you start kiting, you can speed up the process of killing him a bit. Pretty ironic how he used to be the gimp part of the event; he's by far the deadliest part of it now.
Two positive changes; first, I got 3 badges of justice from completing the event, and second, the mind flayers on shartuul stage aren't immune for a second or so when they pop (meaning you can't blow shadow nova too early, unless you use it before they pop). I'd gotten used to waiting for them to start shafting me before killing them, but that's no longer needed.

It seems like the dog in Phase 3 is even more bugged as for now I can't dispell the debuff that he puts on me. At around 50-60% im simply dying either to him catching me or inability to outheal the debuff. Pretty stupid :/

i can confirm the bug where its not cleansing the debuff anymore, sigh, use to be good at this at 70 and now i can't beat it at 80

Hopefully it won't last long, but the fire ability to remove the dogs debuff in phase 3 is bugged. I don't know if you can beat him any other way, but currently it seems very difficult to beat him without being able to remove his stacking debuff.
So you can still siphon and flame buffet stack him like usual, but where you remove his disease he puts on you, you just can't do it right now.
:(

Ok for all of you people grinding Ogri'la, you can do this, just is a lot harder.
The reason as you can obviously read in this thread is that the flame buffet and clense ability are both bugged. The clense ability is flat out broken, but the buffet ability is just bugged.
If you want to beat the dog, follow these steps because I just killed him 10/29/09 with all bugs currently active.
1. Drop a siphon life on him as usual.
2. Flame buffet, and start launching pyroblasts.
3. Flame buffet, and continue pyroblasts.
4. Get your flame buffet stack to 5, but do NOT go to 6. In all honesty, you are better off just going to 4 stacks, and then waiting for the debuff to almost fall, and then refreshing it to 5.
5. Shadowbolt when the siphon is about to fall.
If you really have to, swap into ice and nova him, then lay on the chaos bolt.
Flame Buffet is bugged in that it will increase the damage he takes up until the 5th stack, and then it will start to decrease. I was very amazed at how fast he died when I realized that. At 5 stacks of flame buffet, he takes 100k per pyroblast. At 4 and 6 stacks, he takes only 50k. At 3 and 7 stacks he takes only 30k. At 2 and 8 stacks he takes 15k. So as you can see, you want to stay as close to 5 stacks as you can. Problem is, the buff will fall off and you have to refresh it. So I would do most of the damage to him at 4 stacks. Then by the time you really need him to die, you will be at the 5 stack mark and he will go down faster.
Hope this helps! I realized it too late so I killed him when I was at 10% and died before Shartruul even spawned. Next time I will see if I have enough HP to take down Shartruul.

As of Nov. 5, 2009, Cleansing Flame, the third fire skill in phase three, which you need to defend against the core hound boss's snare+dot disease, is bugged. As a result, the encounter is currently unbeatable, unless you can somehow abuse Chaos Strike to kill the core hound extremely quickly and heal up to full. I'm waiting to hear back from a GM about this.

Also wanted to mention that if you're farming
Ogri'la
reputation that this awesome event also gives some nice rep.
Cleared Phase 1: 100 rep
Cleared Phase 2: 200 rep
Killed Eye: 500 rep
The dog killed me so I dont know what the last 2 will give yet. But imagine it will be something like another 1500 rep or something.
I will update this after I tried again.

As of 3.3 this event is pretty badly broken. You can do phase 1 fine, but phase 2 is nearly impossible. What's happening is that you end up starting phase 2 with whatever health you had left on the BOSS at the end of phase 1, which means twice now I've started with <1k health and once I started off dead as the phase change happened in the middle of Mighty Whirlwind.

I've tried this event three times, and all three times, I've failed on the first boss of phase three. I'll throw a siphon life up on him, then switch fire to dps burn him, then go frost and ice block his big attack. Problem is, his main attack (fel fireball) hits me for a whopping 35000 about every 4 seconds or so, and siphon life's 2600 per 2 seconds is simply not enough to keep up with that, and using the main shadow attack for the big heal doesn't make up for the difference. By the time he casts his first big attack, I've already got next to no life so I don't stand a chance. What the hell?
Edit: Just read last few posts, seems I'm starting out with just a sliver a life on phase three, and that would explain the difficulty I'm having. /sigh
Edit 2: Problem seems to have been solved, or maybe it only happens occasionally, because I was able to successfully finish this event today (2/13/10).Rewards 100, 200, 500, 500, 750 rep at each respective phase for a total of 2050 rep (or 2255 for humans like myself!).

Phase 1
--------------
Really, needs no explanation. Just use charge, fear and your strike. And don't forget to throw the hammer whenever it is on cooldown.
Phase 1 - Boss
--------
Use charge and fear for a huge amount of damage. All the other time, use your strike. If you come into the fight damaged (shouldn't really happen if you used charge and fear all the time in the pre-fight), you can time the fear after he begins his flame breath.
Note: Remember to detarget the boss after he begins the drain that switches you.
Phase 2
--------------
Make good use of your two stun abilities as they increase the damage output of your primary attack button. And use your drain target heal when it is off cooldown. And your flame breath helps also.
The important thing here is to not fall behind on killing. Which is why it is important to keep stunning as well as prevent the building of fel cannons (which means more things to kill).
Whenever a bigger mob spawns, use your jump to stun him and the group for a good while. Activate your flame breath while still in the air as you will be able to hit many targets. And then spam your main strike button until he is dead.
Phase 2 Boss
-----------------
If you keep the damage output up, you should be alone with the boss and at pretty good health. To kill her, simply stunlock her and use your main attack. That is all there is to it.
Phase 3 Boss 1
--------------------
For this one I prefer to only use shadow and ice form. If you want you can use fire also for damage, but it really isn't nescessary as the eye will kill itself when you reflect his big attack.
Simply stay in shadow form all the time, keep ability 3 (the AoE dot) up on the boss and keep casting your shadow bolt. Whenever your ordinary dot is off cooldown, use it for some more health regeneration.
When the eye begins casting its big attack switch to ice and wait until he has almost finished casting before using ice block. After that just switch back.
Phase 3 Boss 2
--------------------
Hopefully you have good health from using your shadow form healing against boss 1. In this phase you will stay in fire form 100% of the time. The reason is simple. Every time the dog charges, he gains a stackable buff that allows him to do more damage.
So the idea is simply. Keep away from him. Use the flame shock on him whenever it is up. When you are a good bit from him, cast pyroblast. And whenever he charges, use ability 3 to clear debuffs while running like hell hoping that he won't hit you too much.
If you do it correctly you should only lose around 100k-150k hp on the fight.
Phase 3 Boss 3
----------------------
The final boss. He has a huge amount of hp, but is actually fairly easy since he doesn't do too much damage. In this phase you will use all three forms.
Use shadow form to heal as well as clear the minion mobs. To best heal, make sure the AoE 3 hits the boss as well as the minion.
Use fire form to deal real damage. preferably you should try to not lose the fire damage buff on the boss, so try to go to this form at least once a minute. (although it is mostly a matter of how long it takes to kill him). Use the debuff remover to remove the immolate when he casts it.
Ice form is for one thing and one thing only, and that is to reflect his incinerate.
Sometimes your forms will be on cooldown, so you will end up eating an immolate or incinerate. But your healing in shadowform should be more than enough to overcome that.
---------------------------------------
Easy mistakes:
Phase 2 - Failing to clear the minions fast enough by not fully using the stuns. Having the boss pushed near the bounds, making it difficult to stunlock her.
Phase 3 - Underestimating the importance of shadow form ability three (the AoE effect)
Phase 3 Boss 2 - Trying to heal instead of just dpsing

There's a lot of information on this page regarding the fights themselves, and much of that information is incomplete or confusing. In this post, I've summed everything up right down to the keybinds.
Phase 1:
Felguard Degrader
Abilities (organized by their keybinds):
1
-
Mortal Strike
: This is the normal attack you spam on single-target enemies that get too close.
2
-
Mighty Whirlwind
: Your AoE dps ability.
4
-
Terrifying Roar
: Mass-fear effect (think
Howl of Terror
).
5
-
Chaos Charge
: Pretty straightforward, it does a giant blast when you hit your target, putting a huge
dot
on any targets nearby.
7
-
Smash Shield
: Use this whenever it's off cooldown; you need to take down the shield to fight the first boss.
0
-
Absorb Life
: This ability consumes a
Charged Crystal Focus
upon use, and drains the life of the trash around you.
The basic strategy for the trash phases is simply to use your
single target attack
on any nearby adds as they come one at a time, using your
crowd
control
abilities as you see fit.
Charge
any imps that come out; the
dot
the 'fel energy' puts on the trash will basically one-shot all of them.
After you inflict significant damage to the shield (roughly 25% health left), the first boss,
Doomguard Punisher
comes out (whether or not you're still fighting trash adds). The quickest way to defeat him goes something like this:
Charge
at the boss (if he's too close, use
Terrifying Roar
to send him running, putting him at range). This puts a very high damage
dot
on the boss. When
Charge
is on cooldown, just spam
Mortal Strike
. He'll go down pretty fast. After you defeat him, you gain control of him.
Phase 2:
Doomguard Punisher
Abilities:
1
-
Punishing Blow
: This is your spammable, single-target attack. It's incredibly weak unless your target is stunned.
2
-
Fel Flames
: A channeled, funnel AoE. It lasts for 15 seconds or until the target is dead, whichever happens first. It's worth noting that you can still use your other abilities while channeling this ability. You can also move while channeling this.
4
-
Throw Axe
: Stuns a target at least 5 yards away. The damage it deals is minimal.
5
-
Consume Essence
: Instant cast, drains the
Gan'arg
of most of its health, returning it to you. This
only
works on
Gan'arg Underlings
. In addition, your target must be at least 10 yards away from you. You cannot drain more health than the target has, so only use this on enemies with a fair amount of health left.
6
-
Super Jump
: An AoE stun effect. This is your only real crowd control in this phase. It will stun those directly around you, as well as those you land on. Your target must be at least 5 yards away to use this ability.
0
-
Dive-Bomb
: Your special ability for this phase. While using this ability, you are invincible. You fly up into the air and drop green fireball-esque bombs at your enemy. This will likely only ever be used against the boss of this phase, and is a great last resort if you're low on health.
The basic strategy for the single-target trash is simple:
stun
then
kill
.
Group trash pulls are the same concept, just on a larger scale:
stun-jump
,
use your aoe
, then pick off any survivors with your
single target attack
. It never hurts to top yourself off by using
Consume Essence
on any
Gan'arg Underlings
.
All in all, the
Doomguard Punisher
is all about kiting in and out--you need to be at range to stun your targets, but you need to melee stunned targets to hurt them. Handling him is like a dance.
After a few waves, the
boss
will come out. At this point, all you really need to know is that she is a caster. Handle her like you would single-target trash:
stun
then
damage
, though I recommend also having
Fel Flames
up whenever it's off cooldown. Due to her increased health pool, your
AoE stun
will also come in handy. As stated earlier in the post, if you're low on health, your
special ability
might be your salvation--you become invincible during its duration, and you inflict massive damage during the cutscene-esque flight. After you defeat the boss, you gain control of her.
Phase 3:
Shivan Assassin
Continued below:

Phase 3:
Shivan Assassin
Abilities (organized by 'form' as well as keybinds):
Shadow Form:
1
-
Death Blast
: This will be your big heal. It's a shadowbolt that turns the damage inflicted from
Siphon Life
into health, but consumes the
Siphon Life
on the enemy target.
2
-
Siphon Life
: This is your primary heal. It has a 30 second cooldown, but lasts for 60 seconds.
3
-
Shadow Nova
: This is your AoE attack. It gives a minor heal as well, but it will only really be useful against the
Fel Eye Stalks
in the final fight. Otherwise it's not really worth even looking at.
6
-
Aspect of the Flame
: This shifts you into your 'fire' form, and changes your abilities accordingly.
7
-
Aspect of the Ice
: This shifts you into your 'ice' form, and changes your abilities accordingly.
0
-
Chaos Strike
: This is your special ability. Unlike the previous specials, this one consumes
two
Charged Crystal Focus
upon use.
(Edit: The tooltip is wrong--it says you use two, but you actually only consume one.)
If your enemy is afflicted by
Siphon Life
,10 stacks of
Flame Buffet
, and is frozen from
Icy Leap
, he'll take ridiculously massive damage. In addition, for 30 seconds after you use
Chaos Strike
, you gain the buff,
Chaos Form
, increasing spell casting speed by 75%, melee attack speed by 100%, and damage done by 300%.
Fire Form:
1
-
Pyroblast
: The spammable firebolt. This is the attack you use if you have nothing else to do.
2
-
Flame Buffet
: Instant cast, does significant damage as well as increases fire damage on the target by 5,000 damage per application. Stacks up to 10 times. The effect lasts for 60 seconds.
3
-
Cleansing Flame
: Although the tooltip says 'cleanses
a
debuff from the caster', it will actually cleanse
all
debuffs. This will be used frequently.
6
-
Aspect of the Shadow
: This shifts you into your 'shadow' form, and changes your abilities accordingly.
7
-
Aspect of the Ice
: This shifts you into your 'ice' form, and changes your abilities accordingly.
0
-
Chaos Strike
: See above.
Ice Form:
1
-
Iceblast
: Frostbolt that does double damage to a frozen target, but will unfreeze the target it hits.
2
-
Icy Leap
: Freezes nearby enemies and causes you to leap backwards.
3
-
Ice Block
: Lasts 4 seconds, during which time any harmful spells sent your way are reflected back at their caster.
6
-
Aspect of the Shadow
: This shifts you into your 'shadow' form, and changes your abilities accordingly.
7
-
Aspect of the Flame
: This shifts you into your 'ice' form, and changes your abilities accordingly.
0
-
Chaos Strike
: See above.
Note: Keybinds for changing between forms might be inaccurate after the Shadow Form keybinds--use your own discretion.

Unlike previous encounters, while you do get a teeny bit of time to get used to your new demon, you do
not
get to fight any trash. You dive right in.
The general, basic handling of your demon is to follow this textual flow chart:
Flow chart of priorities:
1) Is the enemy casting some sort of death ray (or in the case of
Shartuul
,
Incinerate
)?
If yes, switch to
Aspect of the Ice
, and use
Ice Block
a second or two before the cast finishes.
2) Do you have a debuff on you?
If yes, switch to
Aspect of the Flame
and use
Cleansing Flame
.
Exception: If the debuff is
Mind Flay
, which comes from nearby living
Fel Eye Stalks
, either run away from them or switch to
Aspect of the Shadow
, get close to them, and use your
Shadow Nova
to destroy them.
3) Is
Siphon Life
currently on your enemy?
If not, switch to
Aspect of the Shadow
and cast it.
4) Is
Siphon Life
currently on your enemy, but with only a short duration left on it?
If yes, switch to
Aspect of the Shadow
, cast
Death Blast
to massively heal your demon. Wait until it lands, then put a new
Siphon Life
on the enemy.
5) Is
Flame Buffet
on cooldown?
If not, switch to
Aspect of the Flame
and cast it.
6) Cast
Pyroblast
If you have a bunch of spare
Charged Crystal Focus
sitting around, you can skip the cookie cutter strategy, and simply put 10 stacks of
Flame Buffet
on your enemy, along with
Siphon Life
. Once you have met those two requirements, cast
Icy Leap
to freeze your enemy. At that point, use your special ability,
Chaos Strike
to obliterate your enemy. This will instantly kill any boss you use it on except for
Shartuul
; it might take two tries for him.
Eye of Shartuul
:
You will want to stay at a range from this boss, as he will drop yellow
snares
that do damage; do not stand in them. If he gets too close to you, he will put a
debuff on you
--just make sure you stay out of his melee range. He will also do a very slow cast,
Dark Glare
. It's highly recommended that you
Ice Block
and reflect it back at him, because otherwise you will be hit for 100,000 damage.
Dreadmaw
:
You will never need ice form for this boss. Follow the flow chart from above. The only abilities you will need for this boss are
Siphon Life
,
Death Blast
,
Flame Buffet
,
Cleansing Flame
, and
Pyroblast
. Kite him, burn him, cleanse the debuff he gives you when he
charges
to you.
Heal
when needed. Very simple fight.
Shartuul
:
This is the fight where everything comes together. As long as you follow the flow chart, you will be fine.
As for his abilities, he has two debuffs he can put on you that need to be cleansed:
Immolate
and
Shadow Resonance
.
Immolate
is a painful dot that will culminate when he uses his incredibly powerful
Incinerate
(which needs to be
Ice Block
'ed).
Shadow Resonance
increases the damage his basic spam attack deals by a significant amount.
Shartuul
also summons
Fel Eye Stalks
that inflict
Mind Flay
on you if you get too close. Just use common sense and use your best judgment on which form to be in at any given time.
To make any further explanation unnecessary: Just follow the flow chart and use common sense. Do that and you will not need to use any
Charged Crystal Focus
to succeed.
Happy hunting!

Having done this a couple of times now, here's my guide to defeating this event!
Before anything else, make sure you DON'T have Castable buffs ticked in the interface options!
If you do, you can't see the demons debuffs on the target!
Phase 1: Felguard Degrader
This phase is relatively easy!
Remember to cast the hammer every 25th second, the first few waves of Felhounds you can probably finish off with just the Mortal Strike (number 1 ability).
After some time imps will appear, these are irritating and can sometimes not be onehitted by the Mortal Strike!
Make a little distance to them and use your Chaos Charge (number 5). This will kill your target and send an AoE wave around you killing everything else.
Tip! Use your Terrifying Roar (number 4) to make some enemies flee in fear, i like to use this when alot of Felhounds appear but no Imps, fear the Felhounds and during that time an imp should spawn, now you just need to charge that one and kill everything!
If you find yourself having everything else on cooldown, you can use your number 2 ability Mighty Whirlwind, it's not as good as your Chaos Charge however.
Tip! When the shield breaks all of the current adds will despawn, so don't feel like you HAVE to kill everything before breaking the shield.
When you've broken down the shield, the Doomguard Punisher will appear. Simply Mortal Strike him until he starts breathing green fire on you, when he does, fear him and use a Chaos Charge on him before he gets back in range with you.
When you've killed him you start...
Phase 2: Doomguard Punisher
You take control over the boss you just killed!
This phase is a bit trickier.
The waves starts slow with just a few little Ga'nargs, which you simply Super Jump (number 7) this should stun everything in a small radius of you, after that you just use your Punishing Blow (number1) to kill them off.
Tip! Your Punishing Blow makes TRIPLE amount of damage to stunned targets!
Tip! Both your Super Jump and Throw Axe (number 4) requires some distance, so try to STRAFE (walking sideways of sorts) away from the mobs in order to stun them.
After awhile bigger versions of the little mobs will appear, these are highest priority. Try to Super Jump them, get one or two Punishing Blows in then strafe sideways to stun the big one again with your Throw Axe.
By now there should be quite a bunch of small Ga'nargs around, use your Fel Flames (number 2) to slowly kill them off, this skill is not channeled so you can continue doing what your doing while your demon breathes fire.
Sometimes the Ga'nargs will try to build little cannons (it looks like theyre channeling electricity to the ground), these should be killed before any others, since the cannons they build are rather nasty and should one end up being built anyway, kill it!
Tip! Ga'nargs walk away from you to try and build the little cannons, therefore they are easy to stun or use Super Jump on.
While doing all this, don't forget to use your number 5 ability called Consume Essance, this will give you life back but can only be used on the little Ga'nargs, also to note is that the more life the Ga'narg has, the more it will give back to you. Ideal is to use it on a Ga'narg about to build a cannon or stunning one Ga'narg simply to steal his life. It has a 30 second cooldown but don't be shy to use it! use it everytime the opportunity arises!
After some waves the next boss will appear called Shivan Assasin.
She is a caster type of mob so simply use your stuns everytime they are off cooldown, give her some Punishing Blows and you can use your Fel Flames aswell.
Usually 1-2 little Ga'nargs will spawn when fighting Shivan, try to not kill them as they are a wonderful source of life! if they start building cannons, take their life, and then kill them, otherwise leave them be.
Using your stuns as much as you can should make this boss fight pretty simple! When you kill her, same will happen as last time, you will take control of her and start...

Phase 3: Shivan Assasin
The Shivan Assasin has a lot of different abilities.
The number six and seven buttons are your Transform buttons, these will either be to transform you to fire, ice or shadow.
Remember that all transforms share a 10 second cooldown when you change, and that when you have used one transform starts a 30 second cooldown for that particular transform.
You will want to start all fights in Shadow Form (the green/yellow transform button).
There will be no waves for this phase, but instead 3 bosses.
First miniboss: Eye of Shartuul
This boss should be kited, start of the fight in Shadowform and put your Siphon Life (number2) on the boss. This skill has a 30 sec cooldown but lasts for 60 seconds, siphoning life back to you every tick. If your comfortable with it, you can get close to the boss and use your number 3 ability (Shadow Nova) which will put a 15 second debuff on it also siphoning life back to you!
Tip! Death Blast (number 1 ability in shadowform) will heal you for a lot! It heals you for an amount 5x times your Siphon Life has dealt in damage! So try shifting to Shadowform when your siphon has 15 or so seconds left, and make SURE to let the Death Blast land and consume your old Siphon Life before applying a new Siphon Life, since sometimes your Death Blast might miss!
After applying Siphon Life on the boss, switch to Fire form and start running away from the boss! Use your number 2 ability Flame Buffet everytime it is up, it has a 10 second cooldown. it applies a debuff to the boss which will make it take increased fire damage for every stack (stacking up to ten times). And keep using your Pyroblast (number1) whenever you're far away from the boss.
Note! Fire Form makes you run 30% faster then the other forms!
The boss will after awhile summon something that looks like yellow electrical charges on the ground, avoid them since they stun you!
Keep a close eye on the bosses cast bar, because after awhile he will start casting Dark Glare, this ability has a long casttime and hurts for a lot.
This is when you should shapeshift into your iceform! Once in Iceform, wait until he is JUST about to cast Dark Glare, and use your number 3 ability in iceform called Ice Block. This will make sure you don't take any damage, but also reflects the damage back to the boss.
Note! Ice Form makes you run 20% slower!
Keep doing this and Eye of Shartuul should die pretty fast!
After the eye is dead, your next miniboss will spawn called...
Second miniboss: Dreadmaw
As usual, start of the fight in Shadowform applying Siphon Life and if you feel like it, Shadow Nova.
Switch to using Fire form and start kiting the boss, applying Flame Buffet and Pyroblasting. Every so often the boss will charge you, applying a debuff on YOU! This is where your number 3 ability in fire form comes in handy! Cleansing Flame will remove a debuff from you and has a 8 second cooldown.
Tip! If you find it hard to keep track of your Shivan Assasins health and debuffs, set her as your focus!
This boss does not require you to use your Ice Block ability, so you will only switch from Shadow and Fire to heal yourself and damage/cleanse debuffs.
When the big dog is dead, the grand master will appear...
Last boss: Shartuul
This is the last boss of this event! Congratz on making it this far!
When this boss encounter starts Shartuul will summon several little worms, make yourself to one corner of the rectangle field, and Shadow Nova the worms there, this is where you will stay for the rest of the fight.
After applying Siphon and Nova, Switch to Fire and start to Flame Buffet and Pyroblast him as usual. Shartuul will use 2 different kinds of debuffs on you so try to remove them as quick as possible.
He will after some time resummon the worms you killed, this is the time to switch back to shadowform to consume the siphon life and shadow nova the worms. Reapply siphon and quickly switch back to fire, the debuffs will happen pretty often so check yourself for debuffs regularly.
Shartuul has a big attack called Incinerate, watch his cast bar and when you see it it's time to go to iceform to Ice Block his attack!
He will also sometimes pull you towards him, simply run back to your corner if he does this.
Keep repeating this and Shartuul should die! he has a lot of health so be prepared it might take awhile!
Yay! That's it! Hope i didn't forget anything now...

New bug? I tried this quest after 4.01 was installed.
I got to phase 2 but I was unable to attack anyone. The little guys showed as friendly and all the others as bad target. The little guys never built the cannons. They just kept on spawning but never attacking until the event finally timed out.

At 13:30 of 16/10/10 (4.0.1), the Demon event near ogri'la that starts with the item Crystalforged Darkrune appeared to be bugged on phase 2.
The mobs on phase 2 appears, are targetable, but unattackable and unable to move, but the time spawn seems correct, before the spawn of the boss of phase 2 you fail the event.

Since patch 4.01 the adds just bug out when you enter phase 2 - they just say immune when you try to attack them and they will not attack you. After 2-3 minutes of being unable to do anything it just kicks you back out. Submitted a ticket 11 Nov 2010 - no responce yet.

I keep getting new bugs every time I'm doing this since patch 4.0
First try I got to the first boss, got him down to 1 hp and he kept attacking me and I didn't get to control him like I'm supposed to, until he eventually killed me.
Second try I got further, I got to the first boss and I defeated him and got to control him, and the gan'arg and those mobs started spawning but... they were unattackable, couldn't do anything to them and they didn't do anything to me, this went on until the second boss spawned and was unattackable as well, they all despawned and I got pushed out of the demon.
Third try, exact same thing happened there as the second try.
Now my fourth try I got to only the first boss again, he ran out of the portal, and instantly decided to get evade bugged, after about a minute of trying to fear him and charge him and do anything to get him away from his evade bug spot, he teleported back into the portal, despawned, and I got pushed out of the demon. I think I'm doomed to never do this event
Fifth and sixth try I got a tiny bit further, defeated the first boss and in the second phase I got to kill 2 of the
Gan'arg underlings
, the rest that spawned were friendly.
Fairly redundant comment, seeing as this seems to have now been removed entirely.

I keep getting bugged at the start of p2, the targets appear friendly so I can't kill them. Wrote a ticket about and the GMs answer was to
keep trying because it bugs a lot
... Just fix it if you know it bugs?
If you can get around 2k rep from the whole event it's freaking sucky to be stuck with the 110 rep I get (as human) from just the first one...

As of the new 4.0.6 patch this event doesn't work at all. You will get an error that says 'Requires Shartuul's Transporter Platform' even when standing on it.
What a bummer. It was bugged before but I could at least get 100 rep with it. Now it's completely useless!

I have read so many of these posts, that it isn't funny. I have been working on the Ogri' la dailies for the better part of a month--skipped a few days. There is one Ogri daily that involves this crystalforged darkrune. It supposedly might be in the kronk bag you get as a reward, I have NEVER gotten one in all this time and so that is one less daily thing I can do. Has anyone ever not gotten one?
This sucks, I want to get the Ogri stuff done and is one of the longer reps to grind in my nsho.
If they have removed it, then they need to remove the freaking Ogri ogre that has the quest in the camp, he is still there as of 8/30/11

Shame really.
The event was very fun and personally, I think it was one of the most difficult solo events in the game. But then, there aren't that many difficult solo quests to begin with. I remember failing the 2nd phase with the doom-guard over and over due to lag on his jumping ability and me not getting used to his moves. But once I got into the groove it became an awesome battle all around.
One more relic of TBC's awesome content down the drain, sadly.
