Very nice pally tank weapon. The speed is almost ideal for keeping SoV up.
... not to mention this is much cheaper than, say, the Blade of the Archmage (HH) and costs about the same as the Continuum Blade (KoT).

Nice mace for shockadins or elemental shams ..
Poor wpn for tankadins! Get Continuum Blade if you are tanking.
* Faster speed (Full use of Reckoning, Quicker SoV refresh)
* More stamina (essential for tanking)
* Spell HIT (chance that RighteousDefense/JoR is not resisted)
* Easier to get

The next upgrade for a Shadow Priest beyond this is on Prince Malchezaar, 'final' boss of Karazhan (he's the last boss inside the building, but there is another optional boss that is harder and considered more of a true final boss) - the Nathrezim Mindblade dagger (
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28770
). The next upgrade for a Pally is at Gruul's Lair, either the Bloodmaw Magus Blade 1h sword (
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28802
) for raw spell power, or Hammer of the Renew 2h mace (
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28800
) as a hybrid shammie/pally weapon with spell stats, but with full weapon DPS progression.

Great weapon overall, but the grind for exalted with lower city will be painful!

Not that painful, it's doable in like a week easily if you do Sethekk Halls, Turn in Arrakoa Feathers, and do Shadow Labs constantly.
First post btw, i'm a member, yay ^_^

i wonder if there is any correlation between the name of the mace and the fact that it has a Freemason-esque symbol on it.

good observation, nofax.. didn't notice it myself. the logo really is there, fascinating. considering the nature of this "organization", the name really suits it =P

Finally completed this rep grind. It is funny because I was doing Slab runs to try for hallowed pieces, and then I turned out being not as needed for heals so I specd shadow. Now I have my megaton doom hammer and am trying to get the offhand from Shattered Halls. I popped +40 spell damage onto it from some shards and essences I had saved. Should provide a nice boost in DPS while taking advantage of the casters ability to "dual wield" a weapon and an offhand. Previously I was using The Bringer of Doom.

Has anyone seen if this one is upgraded a bit on the PTR?
btw, it's not that hard to get exalted, you get around 2k each shadow lab run

Would be the best pre raiding mace in the game for Balance druids if it had some mana regen. Still very good for a PvP Balance druid though.

Comparing the stats on this weapon to Continuum Blade...
- 6 Stamina
- 8 Spell Hit Rating
+ 5 Intellect
+ 15 Spell Crit Rating
+ 38 Spell Damage
This is a better weapon overall.

Unfortunately in the 2.3 patch, getting the season one Gladiator's Gavel for a mere 25,200 Honor and 20 Eye of the Storm Marks is a better DPS choice for a one-handed mace:

No rep grind required. Very easy to attain for the casual player.

This discussion happened a while ago, but for tankadins reading this and dismissing it out-of-hand (and I can see from the +ratings that there are a few), stop and read it, understand it and think about it.
Upon initial consideration of Reckoning, it's natural to assume that it's categorically better to make use of all four charges than not. Many tankadins believe this to be true and therefore consider the Continuum Blade to be the best weapon for a long time to come. However, it's been shown mathematically (even in this thread) that, certainly in terms of "white damage" (i.e., not including damage caused by seal procs), given constant DPS weapons with varying speed, if your weapon is faster than 2.0, you cause less damage during a reckoning proc because your charges are always up before the buff wears off. If your weapon is speed 2.0 or slower, you do not cause less damage during a reckoning proc because the per-hit damage is adequately higher to make up for charges that wear off. BaseVilliN gave great examples of this.
At first glance, as Anatheria pointed out, seal damage throws a wrench into this equation; however, the holy damage caused by all three seals that might possibly be used by tanks to generate threat (Righteousness, Vengeance, and to a lesser extent, Blood) is affected by the weapon's speed and/or damage and therefore, scales proportionally to its DPS. Each of these seals scales differently, and therefore might be modified differently by Reckoning with weapons of varying speed. I'll address each one individually.
In the case of Seal of Vengeance, the scaling is in the proc chance, and is strictly with the weapon's speed and not the weapon's damage. SoV yields a higher damage *per hit* with a slower weapon, because it has a higher chance to proc. This increase in damage per hit is mathematically identical to the increase in damage per hit you would see from just getting a slower weapon with the same DPS, so as long as your weapon is 2.0 or slower, you will gain the full benefit from reckoning.
If you still doubt this, here are some numbers. It was shown above that white damage is equal for reckoning as long as the speed is 2.0 or higher, so this will only consider seal damage. Let "d" equal the actual damage of a single-stacked vengeance DoT after spelldamage, and suppose there is a weapon of speed 2.66 (repeating of course), so that it will always swing exactly 3 times during a reckoning proc. With SoV, this weapon has an 88.8% (2.66 / 3) chance to proc the DoT, which is an average of 8d/9 seal damage per swing. Since reckoning yields an extra 3 swings, we gain 8d/3 damage from SoV due to reckoning. Compare that to a weapon of speed 2.0, which has a 66.6% chance to proc a DoT, for an average of 2d/3 damage per swing, which over 4 swings comes out to the same value: 8d/3 extra damage from SoV due to reckoning.
Seal of Righteousness scaling takes into account both the weapon's damage and the weapon's speed, but if you look at the formula, it's weighted quite heavily towards weapon speed, not damage. The damage scaling is virtually identical to SoV, but due to the extra coefficients, the actual math is a bit more complex so it won't be included here.
Seal of Blood scales strictly and directly with weapon damage. It doesn't even scale with spell damage (though the judgment does)! So, it's easy to see that the "white damage" calculations above would hold true, because SoB is just a multiplicative increase in your weapon damage. This means you still want a weapon of 2.0 speed or slower. If it's any faster, you lose damage because your weapon deals less damage per hit. If it's slower, you might lose reckoning charges, but you have made up for the lost damage because your swings hit harder. It's worth noting that, while Seal of Blood doesn't do more damage with higher weapon speed, it does do more damage with higher weapon damage. I'd imagine that, if a tankadin wanted his Seal of Blood damage to generate a more significant amount of threat, he might consider using an actual DPS 1-hander for tanking instead of a spelldamage weapon like this mace. But doing so would rob him of 100-300 spelldamage, depending on progression, which ultimately would severely reduce his overall threat output. Because of this, I don't find SoB to be a great tanking seal. I've included it here because I'm sure some tanks use it in some situations.
The only place where a faster weapon shines is when you are using Judgement of Light or Wisdom on your target. These judgements (but not their respective seals) have a fixed chance to proc and a fixed mana/health gain, regardless of weapon speed.
Edit: 12 edits? I must be crazy.

Apologies for the late, late, LATE reply. But I just respecced to Elemental from a VERY long spell as Resto (e.g. Through Naxx at 60 & through TK at 70.) And am slowly regearing and looking at what's best etc. I noticed that the last two posts discuss the Gladiator's Gavel as a alternative to this weapon, but you're failing to consider that you can enchant a one handed weapon with +40 spell damage, bringing Gavel of the US's +spell damage up to 199, whilst you could also enchant the Gladiator's Gavel with the same thing to bring it up to 239, it still lacks spell crit, which is what a lot of caster classes that are looking at 1h maces thrive off. Balance Druids & Elemental Shaman most of all. I would take this baby over the Gladiator's Gavel even though the grind for it is harder.

Currently I find that I am unable to purchase this item on live. I'm at the vendor but I cannot see this item at all. I am a warrior, is this item only purchasable by hybrid specs? I know I have purchased it in the past when you couldn't transmog MH and 1h stuff. I was kind of excited to have a nice mace for my tanking set.
Edit: I can see this item for purchase on my Shaman. It seems this item is not for purchase unless your class is a caster / can use spell power. Very disappointing! Be aware fellow warriors and DK's!
