When it says 'this is a very fast mount' its 100% speed increase.
The only difference between this and the cheaper one is the looks. You pay more for an armored mount.
Does this mount require exalted with someone? I heard it does and if so which faction.
Would be great to get this reward, if only the horde ever bothered to PvP in Nagrand on my server. Since launch I have maybe 3 or 4 tokens. I no longer drop everything to help when World Defense lights up, because I know it's just one hordie doing a bombing run...
Ironically, unless there is a LOT of Halaa PvP on your server, it would be far easier to grind to exalted with Kurenai. A few nights of grinding ogres for beads, and you're set; I can't even imagine the nightmare of grinding up enough battle and research tokens for this.
Research Tokens are such a bitch to get. This mount might be a similar grind as the Frostsaber mount :
Also wanted to add: Pvp tokens are considerable easier to get. Especially if you group up with everyone looking for halaa pvp.
8 hours of grinding Kurenai rep w/Warbeads at level 70 and I managed Exalted. There are plenty of spots to grind, I started east and worked my way west depending on how camped they were.
In the end, I ended up with maybe enough mats for 14 research tokens. On my server, getting the horde to attack Halaa happens maybe once a week for about 30 minutes, so although it was easy to hand in the poweder, getting the honor tokens is much slower than just grinding the ogres for warbeads.
If you're going for this mount, try to be realistic. When you decide to visit Ironforge, every n00b will already be asking you about where you got your War Talbuk and really won't know the difference between the colors. You can hardly tell by looking at the model anyway.
The few Dark War Talbuks I've seen on my server didn't resonate awe, it just made me feel so sorry for them that they decided to spend 40+ hours grinding rep on a non-PvP server with uninterested Horde instead of the quick 90g at the quartermaster.
If you really, really think you need this mount, at least go do the other Alliance or Horde faction grinds first, including Blood Elf and Exodar. You'll make as much of a splash to your 14 year old guildies riding around on an Frostsaber than this guy and you'll save yourself the grind.
I farming in Nagard(killing Orges in all types) and i have 18 token(about three weeks!)... Trsut me, its boring, but easy kill.... The best droprate(Warbeads, and Samples) is at the top-left corner of the map...
10warbeads, ~ 40 Ogre> 4-6 Sample(250 consortium reputation, 40x10->400 Kurenai reoputation, and lot Green item(for disenchant, end resist items like +25st,+30Fire/arcane/fros res)
You need lot work in this mount, but while farming, you get lot things(repu, items, etc.)
On wednesday, i get my Spec mount, and Kurenai Exalted(tonight if im fast, simple Tabluk mounts and Kurenai rewards) and Cons. 75%revered, maybe more...
After completing every quest in Nagrand, Farming several hundred thick clefthoof leather, and grinding Mag'har and Consortium to exalted just on War Beads, I have a grand total of 17 Research Tokens. :(
To put it in another light, I've been grinding clefthoof & talbuk for leatherworking hides, plus ogres for mag'har rep (and more recently consortium rep).
I'm revered with the mag'har, honoured with the consortium and i've got my leatherworking from 355->373 (needing between 20 & 40 clefthoof hide + 20-30 knothide each point, plus some primals).
I've got a total of 17 research tokens out of this. Yehar.
Mind you, I'll still get one - why not? - but if you're deliberately grinding with the sole purpose of getting this mount then you're nuts. However considering the number of useful mobs to farm in Nagrand, you'll probably end up able to get one eventually regardless.
i grind the clefthoof bulls for leather and then sell on ah.
got almoste 12 research tokens, and 120 battle tokens.
Many soloing runs on halaa on my server, but when horde want's to fight they go crazy :P
So im grinding for my swift flightform and also doing daily quests... nvm
well i grind those and got the battletokens, so why not get it?
im getting the raiding one, beacuse i dont think this one is any better......
You all complain too much i got over 200 farming Primals alone and that only took a few days. Just do to elemental plateau and make some cash well you get your mount.
When I farmed for mine, I got exalted with Mag'har just from killing those Warmaul mobs - and used the Warbeads for rep with Consortium - best way there is imo :)
I got my 100 battle tokens in about an hour; there was a GIANT halaa raid on my server :) So I thought, hey this is easy enough! Time to get some of the other tokens!
Boy was I wrong.
Those research tokens take forever to farm ... If you're looking for a mount to save some time/money, i suggest one from the hall of legends(horde) or the ones for alliance.
As everyone said, the Battle tokens are the easiest to get.
I grinded the powder at Sunspring Post, I found the spawn rate, and drop rate of powders to be A LOT better then from the ogres. I've farmed a cpl hours for 2 days and have 11 research tokens.
Just a tip for all of u grindin powders for the sexy war talbuk--as of 2.32 ive tried ogres/orcs in SE of map/sunspring post-BEST DROP RATE BY FAR IS: oshu'gun humanoids around the area/voids in area. farming these will increase productivity/earnings from motes, netherweave cloth, vendor greens, trash drops--even got a few recipes. happy farming
A tip for prot pallies, the agitated orc spirits in the ancestral grounds in Nagrand drop these fairly often, and they are very easily AOE grinded. Cheers :)
70 destro raiding lock dalaran
The grind for the research tokens is cake compared to the battle tokens. All I did was save the crystal powder samples that I found when I was farming primal fire and shadow for my frozen shadoweave set/leveling in nagrand, which I no longer even wear so that was a waste, but moving on. By this time I had enough powder for 10 research tokens. Thus the grind really started at 10 tokens so I decided to farm the rest of the powder while I was killing ogres for kurenai rep because nobody attacks halaa on my server anymore I am lucky to get 2 battle tokens in a day. At this point in time I have 36 or 38 battle tokens and 15 research tokens with 25 or so crystal powder samples banked. The grind from revered to exalted with kurenai took roughly 300 warbeads and amounted to 125 or so crystal powder samples; I was able to do it in a day.
gl to all who want this mount but for now im rocking the
Cobalt War Talbuk
although the dark one is way cooler looking.
I just finished getting this mount recently.
There is one camp I'd like to share with you all which I found to be good for grinding out the last few research tokens. Sunspring Post. To be honest, I did not try all the camps mentioned... I did not try the Oshu'gun camp.
The reason why I think this camp this camp is worthy of mention is that the lvl 62 scavagers also have a chance to drop the powders. As a Hunter, I am able to fire a Multi-shot at a cluster of 3 of these and typically kill 1-2 with that one shot, any which remained were quickly devoured by my pet... usually before I could target and get off a hit.
This all translates into a higher rate of kills per hour, thus a greater yield of powders for the time spent at the camp as opposed to the other areas I tried.
The easiest way to obtain the halaa battle tokens that I found is...
Find a friend that has a toon of the opposing faction (or pay someone) to log on and goto halaa for you to kill them.
The best time to do this is when the opposing faction has control of halaa. That way you can camp the halaa GY and kill him upon spawning. It maybe takes a couple hrs tops to go from 0 battle tokens to the 100 needed for this mount.
As of 8-21-2008, I don't see any graphic of the reins so it looks like I'm mounting hands-free.
Been farming for this whenever I'm bored. Already exalted with all the factions associated with it so I've been hanging out over at the Kil'Sorrow fortress. Powder/Netherweave Cloth/Marks of Kil'Jaeden which go for about a gold a piece on my server and the occasional Fel Armament.
Actually a rather cool mount for a DK considering it's dark pelt and armor.
I have been doing double duty to get these. First I killed ogres anywhere in the zone to get the powders and beads, after getting enough beads to take me to exalted with Mag'har I had 10 powders. To get the rest I moved to killing the demons inside and around the crystals so I could get powders as well as aldor rep items. Not too bad of a grind if your killing 2 birds with 1 stone. in the end I got all 8 mounts from Mag'har rep and the 2 from Halaa, so that puts me at 29 total...21 to go for my drake.
U can just get a horde friend or w/e to stand at their gy when they are controlling it and just kill him 170 times, and try to use spirit res cuz it takes like 3 secs to get up and also tell him to place all his gear in bank.
in my opinion, hear is the easiest way to do it
get to lvl 80
go to halaa in nagrand
pwn the lowbies nonstop to get halaa battle tokens
kill every thing in nagrand for the dust to make halaa research tokens
get 100 battle tokens, 20 research tokens, go to halaa, own it and pwn it
buy the mount
im close, i got all of the research tokens, they were a *!@#$ to get
i only need like 20 some more til i can get this one
i could get the non armor one now if i wanted too, but i like this one better anyways
so u do this, u should be good
but honestly, this is the hardest pvp mount to get in the game in my opnion
this and the black war mammoth are very hard to obtain
the black war bear would actually be much easier than these 2 mounts, really, lol
Since the amount of powder needed to hand in has been reduced from 20 to 10 this makes this mount much easier to farm, Also with the increased drop rate this mount is even quite easy to obtain and not so boring anymore..
Asfar as battle tokens go afew patchs ago you was able to group with a warlock let the warlock kill himself and providing your grouped with him you would receive the battle tocken..
If it still works could some1 confirm it please.. If it doesnt work i will remove this part of the post.
but if it does work make sure the warlock banks all his gear then instead of waiting for res with 2 minute timer just accept res sickness every time
-Edit- Confirm warlock trick still works.. we got 40 tockes/10mins*6 = 240/hour
Since you only need 170, this would take ~42mins if you kept at the same peace we did.. Or stack double warlocks
This mount is now nearly impossible to get just because of the sheer time. Halaa PvP is no longer common, so battle tokens are more rare than research ones. Through levling in Nagrand, I had 11 research tokens, and 3 battle tokens. And I pvped whenever someone was there.
To be frank, if you got this after the big DK race, you are amazingly single-minded.
How to get this mount easily...
- Find a lock friend or multiple locks and have them in your raid/party.
- have each lock put all their gear in the bank
- go to Halaa and make sure you have control of it
- locks kill themselves with hellfire and spirit rez til you have 170 tokens on everyone.
go kill mobs in nagrand til you get 100 dust, turn in, get 100 more, turn in, 100 more, turn in, and 50 more, and turn in. Buy your mounts
A great tip for everyone after this mount:
Get a warlock friend and invite him to your party. Go to the Halaa graveyard and tall him to take off all his gear and use hellfire to kill himself, then take res sickness. You will both get Halaa battle tokens this way and it will only take about 15 minutes.
Warning: For this to work your faction must control Halaa.
-For Horde, this is bought from Coreiel, its a female blood elf, she is the blade merchant, both of the talbuks are on the 2nd page of the stuff she sells
-For Alliance, very same thing, except the name is Aldraan, also a blade merchant, 2nd page as well, same deal, but is a dreani instead
-This costs 100 Halaa Battle Tokens and 20 Halaa Research Tokens
-The Halaa Battle Tokens are gained via killing members of the opposite faction in Halaa, you have to have gotten the killing blow or be in the group with the person that got the killing blow, and as soon as the enemy is killed, u will receive the token in your bags
-The Halaa Research Tokens are gained by collecting 10 Oshu'gun Crystal Powder Sample, yes, in Patch 3.1, they changed it so u only have to get 10 of the powder samples for 1 token, instead of 20, i know it still says it takes 20, but when u go to turn the quest in, you only need 10
-The drop rate for Oshu'gun Crystal Powder Samples are NOT 100%, they drop rate varies on what you kill for it, it can drop off of anything in Nagrand, but it drops off of some things better than others, the average drop rate of it is around 10%, so if you kill 100 things in Nagrand, you will be lucky to maybe get one off of 10, 11, maybe 12 if you're lucky
-The Dark Riding Talbuk is gained the very same way, but only costs 70 Halaa Battle Tokens and 15 Halaa Research Tokens, and the only differences between the Dark War Talbuk and the Dark Riding Talbuk is that the Dark War Talbuk has armor and it costs more tokens and the Dark riding Talbuk does NOT have armor, but both are +100% speed and require Journeyman riding skill to use
I am only 12 Halaa Research Tokens away from this, i have all the battle tokens, just need the rest of the research ones
I actually found it better to spread the powder sample farming out, instead of doing it all at once, much less stressful, but it might take a little longer to get, but what i do is get like enough dust for maybe 1-2 tokens a day, and leave it at that, believe me, it actually does seem a lot easier and less stressful to do, so far everyone has agreed here that getting the dust is very, very frustrating even with the decrease of the dust needed to get a research token, but it's actually alot less frustrating if you think about it, and the wait will be far worth it when you buy the reins for your new mount
Thats all the information i have on these mounts as of right now, if i find out more, i will be sure to update you guys when i can, until then, please enjoy the information i have provided, i hope it helps you guys, and if i missed something, or am wrong on something i said, please correct me, and good luck guys =)
Currently, there's a nifty trick/bug which makes it very easy for ANY CLASS to obtain the battle tokens needed for this mount.
All you need is:
A friend willing to kill you repeatedly.
A healthy amount of
And preferably CONTROL over Halaa, so you can spirit instantly, to avoid the 2 minute run.
What you then do is, take off all your gear, go to the graveyard inside Halaa and let the fun begin.
You enter a duel with your friend, and make sure you drink one of the Sulfuron Slammer's before s/he 'finishes' you off.
This beer ticks for 1 damage, per second, for 5 seconds, which will then kill you.
When you die, both you AND your friend will gain a battle token.
And as mentioned earlier, you just keep spirit ressing to avoid rezz timer.
(Note: I personally got 170 tokens in 70-80 minutes or so)
Looking for alliance character to trade kills on EU-Bloodfeather.
Please mail Chandler(AT)wir-sind-cool(DOT)org
(replace (AT) with @ and (DOT) with . )
Armour on its head, that seems quite reasonable. Armour on its body, no problem with that. But armoured
? Are they not the hardest part of a talbuk?
In my opinion the unarmoured version looks better.
Ok, just got this mount today, I am on the korialstrasz server, it tends to be 50/50 halaa control between Horde and alliance.
First on what is the Difference between this talbuk and the riding talbuk, the War talbuk has a faceplate, glowing eyes etc.. pretty much looks more badass..
Now this mount will take a lot of farming... from both tokens..
for the research tokens, I found out Murkbloods has the highest drop rate of the powder for the tokens other than the mobs in the Oshu'gun (sorry if i misspelled), a good suggestion is farm a few token each day, in about an hour you can get around 3 token if your lucky, do this every day until you reach 20, it wont be as stressful..
For the battle tokens, depending on your lvl, see if any of your friends have a same lvl toon on the alliance on your server, and ask to farm the tokens off of him.. now if you dont, there is 'bound to be someone in trade who does.. you may need to fork up some cash, but its up to you. also, when you are taking back halaa (if you tend to loose it) go down and combat the guards, usually a few alli are abound to pop up.
This is a great mount, especially for a collector, you'll feel proud when you do get it ;D good luck
PS.. if you are on the alliance side, just do what i said but flip the "kill alli" part around. lol
I'm trying to get this mount on my level 80 alliance. At the moment I am currently leveling up a horde character of my own, but I'm not sure how far to level her in order to get the tokens, I know its around 70+ but can anyone tell me how high exactly?
Blizz should nerf the battle token requirements since most BC areas are dead these days. :(
5 tokens so far--95 to go--I should have this by the time Cataclysm ends.
Price needs to be converted to honor. Instead of the tokens and listening to Blizz try and whine about how it should be with the tokens, they need to get in line with their own system and just convert it already.
If you're on an overly populated server, obtaining this mount is obviously much easier.
What I did was wait at Halaa until I saw one of the gryphon bomber outposts taken by the horde, I'd then go there and kill whoever was around. Got enough battle tokens within ~6 hours.
What a fool I've been. I threw them tokens away. Congratz to me I'm an idiot. Now let's grind again
*Sigh*.....I too have toosed the badges neded for this, not too many Halaa Battle Token(once they had to be in your bag, if I am not mistaken) but quite a few Oshu'gun Crystal Powder Sample, maybe all needed, since TBC lvling days and inc extra grinds as a lvl 80. I had forgot there were 2 more mounts to get from TBC....
I spoke to a GM. S/he told me that killing onesself no longer works. What I could do is go on the server forums and arrange an alli vs horde battle. It was A-OK to plan this in any way, even if they killed us first 20min, and then we killed them the next 20mins.
The battle itself is no big deal, it can take 20mins with enough ppl on each side. The big problem is all the Oshu'gun Crystal Powder Sample. But it is tempting, never seen one of these 2 mounts on my server, could be ppl are hiding them amonst their other 100+ mounts?
So, its 20-60mins battle grind, depending on how many you are fighting against, and around 15-25h grind for enough Oshu'gun Crystal Powder Sample. Combinded with some series on DVD, it might not be too bad. Mount grinds that really suck, are the
at the Tournament, they take a
few weeks for each mount
Almost got the impression from the GM that the whole place is concidered a "fail" :)
i farmed this with an alliance on a PvP server...spammed if anyone wanted to farm it. since we didnt know each other we took turns killin the other. We met at the NE after banking all our gear...spirit rezzed, flew up killed the other guy..rinse, repeat. as a tip...the guy waiting for the other guy to fly up and kill him would fly in air and fall to ground to get around 10% to speed things up. to farm 100 tokens for the both of us took about 3 hours using this method..GL!
Shame this is (nearly) impossible to get these days. Not only the hellish grind of Research tokens, but no-one is at Halaa anymore so Battle tokens are even harder to come by...
Hurr, I have both Dark Riding and Dark War Talbuk on my DK so I must be crazy..
But to be fair, yes, it really is hell grinding out those powders. I just finished the grind and it took me the better part of two, almost three days and I was already starting with 10 research tokens from grinding exalted with Mag'har. I had to grind with single-minded determination too because I was constantly fighting for mobs with the other faction. I went through all camps of ogres but ended up at Laughing Skull Ruins because it was closer to Halaa and had more mobs/less competition.
I might've gotten a better drop-rate near Oshu'gun but I wanted the warbeads for Consortium rep. I ended up going from a bubble into Revered with Consortium to over 3/4 into Revered. 580 warbeads. I almost gave up a couple times from the sheer boredom and tedium of destroying that many ogres at one time but I got through it. But by God, I never EVER wanna do that again...Ugh...
Another thought to getting the battle tokens over with fairly fast is to offer an X amount of gold to an alliance/horde player to get killed 100 times. Just spam trade for someone with an ally/horde char on the same server lvl 60+ (80 is best as you'll get honor points for the kills as well though)
The hardest part for me was killing the 100 person at Halaa, I've ended up bribing my horde friend to give me 23 kills.
But It's quite great of a mount and defiantly better than the Kurenai one.
Got this mount today after AGES of farming tokens. Setting up a raid on horde and alliance side was easier for the battle tokens needed for both mounts.
but hey, i got a mount practically no one on my server has
Don't get your hopes up about these changing over to the new honor system any time soon. Just checked today after the 4.0.1 patch and they still cost 100xHalaa Battle Token and 20x Halaa Research Token.
The best looking ground mount in the game, Just about any race looks good on one of these and they're harder to get than most none-drop mounts so..I always /salute when I see someone else having these mounts.
And they're easy as cake to farm these days, when I got them on main it was pure PVP and we spent a good 5 hours of fun world PVP in Halaa for just the Riding one. Later I also got the War one the same way and wow...it was a great feeling riding out of Halaa with both of these mounts in my mount tab.
3 weeks ago I farmed the Dark Riding one with an alt...got 1 friend with a Horde char and killed him over and over and over and over and over and over and over and...you get the idea. It was great fun until I had my tokens and it was his turn to gank me :(.
I actually saw some nuts trying to sell these mounts..."10k and we'll let you farm us in Halaa"....hahahahahaha
While the Dust grind is still hellishly long! The battle tokens on the other hand can be gotten within 15 mins.
Its a simple matter of advertising in trade for someone with a toon of the opposite faction thats within 5 levels of the toon your grinding the mounts on. I simply offered 2k gold for 15 mins of someones time.
Step 1 - Make sure the opposing faction holds Halaa
Step 2 - Get your hired friend to bank all his gear before he heads on over
Step 3 - Kill him in the GY in the southern area of Halaa
Step 4 - Have him Spirit Rez continuously until you reach the 170 tokens needed for both mounts.
Sure would be nice if you could get marks for bombing the guards... :(
I had a friend let me kill him 100 times then i got 200 of the Cloths to turn in for research tokens and then i did that Twice so good luck for a total of both i think its 400kils and 400Cloths
Just got this on my Worgen. Its a little disappointing that their face kinda colides with the mount's neck while it runs. It may be a little distracting for some players. Probably won't be fixed though since this is a BC mount and there probably aren't many Worgen affected by it.
the only difference between this mount and the mounts from mag'har is the color, so what's the point for me as a shadow priest to get them? and btw my problem is not like the rest of you, i have 18 halaa research tokens but its the battle tokens that i cant get, my pvp server is like 80% horde, and unless i can somehow arrange for some alliance to come and help, i will just leave this mount for later, i would count it as an achievement to get, but i would never ride that mount over my undead horse ^^
Isn't there a cooldown on all kinds of resurrection if you resurrect to often in succession? I doubt that this is deactivated for the area so 15 minutes is very unlikely. (after the second or third res you would need to wait 2 minutes every time they die...so you maybe get 6-7 kills in those 15 minutes)
The research tokens on the other hand are so easily farmed because of how quick any class can kill stuff in Nagrand at 85.
is there any level requirement to obtain the Combat marks? Like if i can get a friend to create a DK and run to Nagrand after he has done his DK quests?
at lvl 85 what is the lowest level you can kill for it to work?
Anyone else notice the eye glow effect is bugged?
Enemies would need to be no lower than Level 77 for a Level 85 to get honor. To agree with what most other people have said, Halaa is dead and has been for a long time. There's no way you're going to get 100 Battle Tokens the "proper" way.
Trying to understand how to get the battle tokens. Question 1). Do I have to be on the quest: "Enemies, Old and New"? Question 2). Does the PVP tokens only count towards killing players, NPC's, or both? I've killed at least 5 NPC's by flying over them and bombing but I didn't get any credit for the kills. If it only applies to alliance players I give up. I've only seen one Alliance player there ever. Question 3). I am Horde, if I have a friend from Alliance willing to come kill me to get the tokens, does Alliance have to control Halaa in order for me to get credit or can Horde control it?
I've got 17 research tokens, which for me was the
part. I'm on a normal server and the only pvp action i've seen at halaa is that of 85's...which i don't stand a chance against.
Maybe I'm just a good farmer. :P
I tried to recruit someone to exchange kills for tokens was told that it was considered an exploit and banable if true don't get caught.
The person/friend that you are teaming up with to do this is STILL worth Hala tokens even if they spirit rez. Don't be silly like me and figure this out more than half way through this grind. I thought since spirit rezing you aren't worth any honor I just assumed you would not be worth tokens.. FML! =/
Everyone likes to say Halaa is dead. I just got out of a fight lasting over an hour (several small fights) in which I (the Horde) was victorious. It was not easy by any means. Me and 3 85's versus 2 85 hunters and 1 85 warrior, and it took forever.
Marlish' Guide to obtaining
--- ! Important ! ---
These mounts are hard to get. If you do not multibox or have friends of the opposit faction on your realm it may take you a long time to obtain them. The grinding alone will take you several hours and is very repetitive, not to mention the PvP aspect. However, perseverance pays off in the end and you will be able to cross another 2 beautiful mounts off the list.
--- General Information ---
General information and facts about these talbuks:
These talbuks are available to both Horde and Alliance.
Both talbuks are obtained through both PvE and PvP combat.
Repetitively killing a player without an active fight is considered a
as it is a form of cheating the Honor system. If you are looking to get this done by paying someone off do not advertise it in tradechat. Blizzard does not like this kind of behavior and they have stated that it will not be looked upon lightly if you are caught.
Both of these talbuks cannot be obtained prior to level 64.
--- Where to buy these mounts ---
These mounts may be purchased for:
(Alliance). Both of them may be found near the northeastern bridge on the Halaa island in Nagrand.
--- How to get the currency required ---
There are 2 aspects of these mounts; a PvE aspect (grinding) and a PvP aspect (killing). There are a few tricks/tips that may help you to get them both done nice and easy.
-- PvP :
Since Halaa is never being fought over (anymore?) on most servers you are unlikely to find random bypassers in halaa. This leaves you with a number of options to get the PvP part done.
Post on your Realm forum that you want to organise a PvP event fighting for Halaa on <date, time>. If people are interested and available they will reply to said thread or contact you ingame. (there will always be a mount collector of some sort who wants to get the tokens just as bad as you do)
Create a character of the opposit faction and do /who nagrand. Whisper characters that will grant your main character Honourable Kills (See below) to see if they want to help you or you can help eachother (see general info).
Create a character of the opposit faction (preferably an Orc/Human as their starting areas are closest to Orgrimmar/Stormwind) and advertise in tradechat that you want to fight for Halaa/the tokens.
Get a friend to level a Death Knight up to a level where killing him/her will grant you an honourable kill and fight eachother in halaa. Preferably you would do this on a character that is in the 60-70 level range as it will save your friend a lot of time leveling. It will however make the PvE aspect harder.
Create a character of the opposit faction and contact guild leaders/officers of PvP guilds to see if you can challenge them to a big PvP battle against your own guild.
Once you have found someone to fight with, simply move to Halaa and initiate combat. It may be worthwhile to take out the guards present as they will get in the way during PvP. If you are Killtrading the tokens you will want the person getting killed to take control of Halaa. This allows them to use the Graveyard in the south of Halaa rather than them running back from a different location. One important thing to note is that in order to get the actual tokens
your kills must be honorable
. E.G. the person you are killing cannot be "gray" (example: if a level 85 character kills a level 73, it is not considered honorable). an important thing to note is that accepting the Spirit Healer's Debuff still allows you to get tokens, you just won't get the honor from the PvP kill.
The level differences that make a kill honorable:
Level 1-9: 4 levels lower
Level 10-19: 5 levels lower
Level 20-29: 6 levels lower
Level 30-39: 7 levels lower
Level 40-85: 8 levels lower
TL;DR: For a LVL 85 character to receive these tokens, your victim has to be AT LEAST LVL 77.
-- PvE :
These tokens are obtainable through completing
(Alliance). Every turn in requires 10x
and awards 1
. The Crystal Powder only drops for characters who are LVL 64 or above.
Do note that the Crystal powder is;
Bind on Pickup, Unique and Only stacks to 100
. This means that for every stack of these you obtain you have to fly to Halaa and turn in the repeatable quest in order to continue.
The powder drops from almost all mobs in Nagrand at a rather low to medium rate. There are several Hotspots where there is a large quantity of mobs in a small area. How you want to grind these is up to individual experience. Personally I found the Ogres at the Laughing Skull ruins (Northern tip of Nagrand) to be the most useful as they drop
, which can be turned in for either 500 Kurenai/Mag'har or 250 Consortium rep. It is up to you where you want to grind this out, it may be worth trying out a few areas and see what works best for you.
Goodluck with the grind! It is most definitely worth it.
This mount is actually pretty easy to get nowadays.
The hard part is getting the 100
. Here's how I did it in an hour or two.
Create a character of the opposing faction. Go to the nearest major city and ask in the trade channel if anyone wants this mount. You will get loads of whispers within seconds. Invite like 5 of them and explain this:
You will slay them 100x in Halaa, and after that, they can kill you 100x. Now that's easy.
Here's how you can do it as quickly as possible.
If you can find 5 players of the opposing faction, and get yourself a party of 5 friends as well, it will speed things up drastically.
If getting slayed, make sure to drop all your gear into your bank. This will save you like 200g repair costs.
Make sure that the team who is getting slayed has the controll of Halaa. You will respawn in Halaa and using the spirit healer saves you a LOT of time.
With 5.0.4 and CRZ, the PvP aspect of the Halaa mounts has become significantly easier, with "significant" being a relative term.
Your best bet is signing up to a website such as OpenRaid.us or similar websites that are specifically for finding Cross-Realm groups via Battletag. On occasion, somebody will start to promote Halaa PvP that anybody can join as long as you are invited through Real ID or Battletag and phase into their server.
Or, if you are more of "Do-er", advertise that you're trying to start a Halaa battle on your server. There are still many people that are after these Talbuks that would love to participate!
It's beyond me how obtaining these mounts aren't some kind of achievement. It took almost as long as obtaining a Winterspring Frostsaber!
I've been postponing getting these mounts since the end of Burning Crusade (5+ years?), but now I finally got around to do it! The process is still very grindy and can take quite a bit of time, so if you're decided to obtain them just lie back and relax while at it. For the
, I found that the best places to farm
are where you can round groups of mobs, AoE them down and loot them together. The 4 best spots are:
The Forge Camps to the west: Plenty of demons, easy to pull in groups. You should also try to find a large group of talbuks that patrols around the fields nearby, usually following the path of
Sunspring Post: Lots of mobs together, you can easily make a route around the area.
The fields between Oshu'gun and Telaar: Many herds patrolling the area, plus you can circle around Oshu'gun killing other things while the clefthooves respawn.
Kil'Sorrow Fortress: There are plenty of mobs around and pretty close to each other.
> Map here <
You could also try to grind the different ogres in the zone and get some
along the way, but many of them are casters or ranged, which makes them harder to group and farm efficiently. Your best bet is to focus on groups that can be easily pull together.
you are going to need the help of somebody else, either recruiting people in the forums or using the trade channel. Fortunately I have two accounts and just had to level an alt to 82 (minimum level to get a honorable kill at level 90) and farm him for the tokens.
A final tip: Have fun!
Looking for someone who is also interested in getting this mount on (Korgath) I,m a level 88 Alliance Warlock. You can reply to this here on wowhead or message me in game my name is Kalnazzar.
Also looking for somebody to help me with this, and in return I'll help you with the same mount... Impossibly to do otherwise (well almost). Sincere proposal, I really should have gotten this done back in BC days... Alas, I did not, so any assistance would be great. My Mains name is Lushka from US Frostmourne... Battle tag is Katiastrasza#1594
In4 this does not make sense, but every time someone spammed about the mount in chat it always reminded me about the Iraq AK clone(named tabuk, no L) , which in turn is a Yugo ak clone. Burning crusade is somewhat middle eastern themed at places..
I used to be all about guns back in the day, like gun nerd n stuff, so..yea.
Trying desperately to get these mounts, been lazy for too many years. Would love some help and of course I'll return the favor. BT: aintain#1453 (Horde, US Deathwing server) Toon: Niatnia
Looking for someone to help me gain this i will help you out too add harry#2851 im alliance Eu and need help froma horde add me and we will sort it out in chat
The fastest farming method
for Halaa Battle Tokens takes 10-20 minutes for 2 players (one of each faction) who want one or both mounts. You must trade kills with an opposite-faction friend at the Halaa graveyard. It involves 100% damaging ALL of the gear in your bags through res sickness, and requires bagspace for gettin' nekkid, so be aware of this. Depending on how much you carry in your bags, it will result in a 300-500 or so gold repair bill, or slightly more.
(this assumes you have control of Halaa first; reverse it so your friend goes first if their faction does):
1. Go to Halaa with a friend of the opposite faction who is within 6 levels of your own, specifically to the graveyard at the southern side of Halaa, at 42.7, 46.3.
2. Create this macro, place it on your bars:
/Target spirit healer
Keybind it if you like.
3. Take off all Stamina gear.
4. Whichever of you is of the faction which CURRENTLY holds Halaa, is the one who will die the 70, 100, or 170 times (for Dark Riding, Dark War, or both talbuks) first. Assuming that's you, your friend will kill you beside the spirit healer as quickly as possible. Then you press the macro once to release spirit, then again (after running forward a few yards to Spirit Healer range) to accept the spirit res, reducing the time between kills to a mere 5-10 seconds.
5. Once your friend has their tokens, they will take Halaa by killing all 15 guards and sitting at the flag for ten minutes or so, while you put your gear back on, repair, and wait out Res Sickness.
6. Reverse the roles, once your friend has Halaa. They will remove their gear, sit at the graveyard and use the macro to near-instantly res, while you kill them however many times you need for your tokens.
7. Go farm the Oshu'gun Crystal Powder Sample for Halaa Research Tokens, if needed, and remember that you must own Halaa to turn in Dust for Tokens, or to buy your talbuks.
Halaa: Aldraan (Alliance), Coreiel (Horde)
Garadar (Horde): Osrok the Immovable, 56, 37.3, southwest of the inn by the bonfire
Telaar (Alliance): Sparik, 53, 70.2
I got my two Talbuks through two Openraid events I created (one for each faction, same time obviously).
Specified at level 90 (cause not everyone who wants the mount has an at-level alt).
At least one player from each faction must share a realm (so realID invites pull all players to same realm).
And that's it really, go ahead and PvP. Real PvP, not punching your naked friend 100 times. We were having so much fun we all jumped onto guild vent and smack-talked each other for an hour or two while murdering/LOSing/knocking each other off cliffs. Some of them I even kept on my realID list.
People complain the community has changed for the worse. The answer is simple; BE the change you wish to see.
I actually made a seperate account which i used for the recruit a friend which has actually come in handy, i didnt realize that you are able to do it without buying the new wod pre release exp, but anyway it came in handy now cause now i am going to use my dads laptop and since i got the free upgrade to lv 90 i will have an opposing faction player to try out what the other person was saying kill eachother numerous times but since i dont care about the other account i dont have to get killed i can just do the killing, this also came in handy when i needed guild sigs for a new personal bank and also when i first made it i made a toon and had it fallow around my new alt and got the recruit a friend xp buff and just put him on fallow which you can do in the key binding to add it to a key to make it easier on yourself like the up arrow or something like that. i hope this helps someone who is like me and whose friends dont play the game and dont know anybody with an alt on the opposite faction or atleast cares to admit it lol. good luck sorry for the long comment,
How to get this the easiest way!
Wait to WoD. No seriously, there's a follower quest / mission what ever they are called, that grants you enough of each mark to buy one of the Halaa mounts, so the easiest way is to wait to WoD.
I really want to get this mount and the other one. I have level 90 horde chars as well as lvl 80 alliance all on eu servers. add me on moonyisloony#2646
My question is THIS:
Are these mounts still going to be available after WoD since they are redoing Nagrand? I haven't read anything otherwise officially or forum wise - just curious. I notice there is a big push all of a sudden across all servers to get these 2 mounts so it leads me to believe there is some desperation to this...
The tokens can now be obtained through garrison missions in Warlords of Draenor, making the mounts more easily obtained.
This could easily be obtained by completing the
Mysteries of Lok-rath
Mysteries of Lok-rath
Halaa Battle Token
Halaa Research Token
Bring the tokens with you. Don't put them on the bank otherwise it fails :(
For both mounts; 170 Battle and 35 research tokens together.
I'm probably in a minority here, but it's actually a little bit disappointing they have made it so easy to get these mounts now. Those of us who farmed for them the long way, back in the day, had a pair of mounts that were not exactly prestigious but they were nice to see, and not everybody had them. Now, anyone 90+ who has a garrison (ie. everybody) can get one with no effort involved.
If they're going to be giving away previously-earned mounts basically free, can I have one of those lovely bone drakes or metallic protos that I never got around to earning in wotlk? :)
I really like that my Horde characters can now ride this once almost Alliance only mount. Farming the tokens was too much of a hassle before missions were available in Garrisons.
I just purchased this after getting the tokens from a garrison mission.
1. Go to Warspear and take the portal to Orgrimmar
2. When you arrive in Cleft of Shadows, do NOT go through portal to Blasted Lands. Instead, fly up and take the portal to Hellfire Peninsular to get to Outland.
3. Fly to Garadar in "old" Nagrand. (to kill time on the flight path, why hot quite a short guide for users of Wowhead like I did?)
4. Assuming Horde are in control of Halaa, simply fly over and seek out
who will sell you this, and also
On Garrosh realm, Alliance camp the city 24/7. I've been trying to get in there and buy the mounts for weeks now with no luck. Am constantly clusterkilled by swarms of alliance.
I have tried making a custom group but no luck. 1 person against 30 Alliance isn't going to cut it. Blizzard needs to balance it or make it so it is Horde one day or Alliance another day. Not let 1 faction constantly control it without regulation. I have over 800 of those battle tokens and over 300 research tokens I cannot use, gotten from WoD missions..which is completely pointless.
I don't like these Talbuk mounts, at least on Night Elf female and Blood Elf female it appears the character could fall off of them at any point (too much weird motion), and they seem poorly designed compared to other mounts.
Sorta sad this is basically given away with a lvl 98 garrison mission when I remember working hard for this back in BC. Where do I sign up for my Ashes of Al'ar and Nether Drake?
Do the talbuk mounts not count towards the Leading the Calvary Achievement?
Don't forget about realm hopping if your's is being camped
Sweet! Just completed the Garrison mission for the tokens to buy this mount. Been yearning after one of these for a long time.
At 5am EST/2am PST i solo this killed 15 guard and stood by the flag for 20 mins then bought the mount, i got the tokens from garrison mission
I went to the area but it was filled with Alliance. With me being Horde this is obviously a problem. Is there something I'm missing?
I dunno if it's a coincidence.
I was farming mag'har rep and when i finished at exalted I went straight to garrison. In the meantime i checked this site. Here I saw this garrison mission
And you know what? It was waiting for me in my garrison. If you farm some rep in nagrand don't forget to check garrison later. And if it's just random I was lucky as hell.
Haven't gotten a mission that awards this currency for MONTHS and it's really starting to be a bummer. Guess it's back to farming them the old school way for me. Anyone else experienced this and know the cause/solution?
Hey guys, camped the Garrison mission for about two-three months and finally had it pop up. There's a weakaura that will let you know when the mission is live on your table called "Garrison Mission Alert".
It takes all the guess work out of this and turns it into a waiting game. Happy hunting yall!
So I go aaall the way to Halaar to find its Horde controlled. I kill the guards, wait ages for it to be Alliance controlled again only to find out, I left my currency in my bank....
BUT GUESS WHAT!
I was still allowed to buy it even though i didnt have the tokens on me :D
TLDR: you can buy this even if your tokens are sat at home in your bank ^^
