"But it has 4 more str and 3 more agi!!!" you say. Fine, grind your ogres or ethereum to exalted for it.

This item falls short of "epic" by a long shot. Definitely not the reason anyone should/would farm Consortium rep to exalted.

Don't go for this if you have access to a Karazhan raiding guild, Mithril chain of heroism on chess event is a lot better. However, remember there are many other things at exalted besides this, that are worth the grind.

this and the mithril chain of heroism are the two top dps necks in the game for feral druids (I've confirmed this with my spreadsheet which takes all factors I know of into account, clearcasts and all those odd things that are hard to model). this one beats the mithril chain very slightly, but you should get the mithril chain too for when stamina is of value (aka, usually :-P)

Just wanted to comment on the original poster's statements.

Minor upgrade? maybe. Most of the blue's you posted tho can in NO way compare to the sheer dps this reward offers to a feral druid who is properly spec'd (see my armory).

Here's a list of the attack power each of your posted neck peices offer a feral druid, assuming the druid has full points in both Heart of the Wild and Survival of the Fittest. (in order of appearance from the original post)

1. 19.57 attack power.
2. 56.78 attack power.
3. 63.96 attack power.
4. 71.23 attack power.
5. 38 attack power.
6. 38 attack power.

Attack Power provided by Haramad's Bargain for a feral druid:

89.71 attack power.

My current neck peice ( http://www.wowhead.com/?item=28745 ) provides 91.54 attack power and is a drop from the Chess encounter in Kara (very easy to complete, but for some guilds not so easy to get to).

Basically, one of the heroic drops is quite similar in dps to a rep reward and theyre both not too far off from each other or the Kara drop. Obviously the other stats calculate into your total dps from the item but I have decided to it simple here.

Maybe for a rogue would be retarded to wear this over some of the other easy-to-find necks, but this is very top end dps for a feral druid. Just thought I'd clarify, because blanket statements like those of the original poster, tend to cause confusion among people who are new to the game.

Remember boys and girls, it costs absolutely nothing to shoot off your wise-ass mouth, but neither does taking them time to do a little research and provide an educated response.

if you're not at 9k when you hit TK you've been a naughty kitty, you should be on 10.5 / 11k to even think about pew pew in there

FWIW, the Bone Chain Necklace (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27779) is better DPS for feral kitties because it has +hit on it. The +stamina is a bonus, too.

Wouldn't it make more sense to just grind the BGs for Vindicator's Pendant of Triumph? Surely 15,300 honor and 10 Eye of the Storm marks are a lot easier to come by than exalted with the Consortium.

though this is generally regarded as quite a poor epic (only really of use to feral kitties), it's worth noting that with the changes to tanking mechanics in 3.0, this neck will actually become a very good threat/damage necklace for Warriors, Protadins and DK tanks.

Sure, it has zero stamina, which will make it only really suitable for 5mans/heroics and trash tanking, but it's quite easy to obtain. It offers a tank high attack power, decent block value (with the changes to str->block conversion) just under 1% dodge and 50 armor, as well as some crit.

Certainly I think I'll be stopping giggling at how bad this item is when 3.0 arrives and giving it a place in my threat/trash gear setup. Sure, the Mithril Chain of Heroism from Kara is better, but for those of us who never expected to see the tank mechanics change so much and passed it every time to DPS warriors and kitties, Haramad's is a viable alternative for now.
