The (Unique) property of this metagem can prove to be a tremendous hassle, especially if you have multiple helms (dependent on situation) with a meta slot and if your faction has difficulty acquiring the Auchindoun buff. Note that the melee equivalent has a non-unique upgrade.

im not quite sure how meta gems work, can someone explain this to me? it says requires at least 2 yellow and 1 red... does that mean u have to socket your meta gem with even more buffs? or does it mean u need at least these requirements on anything in your equipment? someone plz enlighten me for i am in the dark about this....

For mages and warlocks, trying to fit this meta gem. While getting spirit shards for this gem, complete the quest chain leading up to Crypts. It starts with:

On my server, Rare quality gems are about 30g each, so this'll run you 90g. However, it nets you some great stat bonuses from the gems, as well as the socket bonus on the robe, and the metagem bonus on the helm.

I'd like to point out Bracers of Havok

Very good caster bracers with a yellow socket... will deffinately help in activating the bonus on this metagem.

Those bracers + Hydromancer's Headwrap + this metagem and one orange and green gem will give you at least 84 +dmg and the run speed. (Hood of Oblivion instead of hydromancer's would give 91 +dmg if you can clear Arcatraz to get it)

I use this meta gem cause its really easy to get. Just 1 Shadow Labs run gets you a meta gem, as opposed to spending 120g on a Skyfire, then trying to get it cut with an extremely rare jewelcrafting recipe.

Also, the Mystical Skyfire Gem has such a short proc time its almost negigable the amount of extra healing/dps you can do with it. And also, in patch 2.0.10, they're testing out changing it to "5% chance to half your next spell's cast time". This is still awesome for PvP, but not as good as this gem for PvE.

However, since you can get this run speed out of enchanting Boar's Speed on your boots, and there's no real alternative caster enchant for boots, you might as well look at some of the other meta gems and just use the boot enchant.

This is a great Metagem if you don't want to spend any money on a better one.

The gem actually gives 12 spell damage and healing.

Seems to be the best caster gem out there, with requirements that match colors I am socketing my gear with already.

The skyfire has impossible requirements for me to consider, and once it was changed to haste instead of instant proc I have lost interest in it.

This meta gem is not working on the PTR. I have more then enough gems for it to work and it is working right now on the live servers.
I hope this gets fixed.

does this speed increase stack with the minor speed increase to boots enchantment?

Clicking on the "+12 Spell Damage" link in the tooltip shows that this gem allegedly affects both damage and healing. (Effect #2 - Apply aura: Mod healing done, Value: 12).

Can somebody confirm that this gem in fact increases healing as well?

Because the Mystical Skyfire Diamond got nerfed, this is the top meta gem for an Affliction Warlock, however for Shadow Priests MSD is still the top meta gem.
