Available from the easiest mobs in WoW to kill, linen is simple, safe, and quick to farm. Although never rare on the AH, it always catches a fair premium from 60's who have better things to do with their time. On my server it's not uncommon to get 20s-50s a stack, not bad at all considering a new character gets 30-40 stacks leveling through Elwynn (or Durotar).

Linen Cloth is the easiest cloth to gather (If you have a high level character), and maybe make some bit of money out of it too. The kobolds in Elwynn Forest usually have a good drop rates on Linen Cloth.

Moonbrook/Deadmines is a great place to farm linen cloth, I used to get about 5 stacks before bags became full. It seems the droprate has been lowered after the patch 2.0.12 tho, maybe someone can confirm this.

As people have already mentioned, Razormane mobs in The Barrens are easy to farm for Linen, and once you get the Linen, you can often sell it for quite the profit. It's great for low-levels, altough I'd use it for 1st Aid.

i thought the easiest way to farm linen cloth in little time at lvl 20+ was just to go to one of the caves ( fargodeep or jasperlord mines) and just kill the little monkeys till you get bored, i managed to get 38 linen cloth in 30 min. fast, easy and not far to travel. i would recomend you just pick up the money and linen cloth cause the little monkeys are always filled with useless junk.

I found that the best place to farm linen cloth is that small mill on the coast of in Westfall.
If you are starting out on a server, its a best to go there around level 14/15 and farm the 5-10 spawns there is. They have very fast respawn rates and drop up to 3 bits of linen cloth each which is amazing money for a new toon/server if you go and sell on the AH. Theres also a chance of them dropping Recipe:Swiftness potion (
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=2555
) which can sell to high level Alchemist for up to 5 gold.
Hope I was useful.

Linen - Deadmines
Wool - Stockades
Silk - Scarlet Monastery
Mageweave - Furbolgs in Felwood (same ones that raised Timbermaw Faction)
Runecloth - Lake in Winterspring.
Netherweave - Ogres in Nagrand.

I stood next to the tree and just 1 hit every mob with my wand. With Free for All loot on he just wandered around and picked things up. We have 30 stacks so far and its taken roughly 50 minutes. At 2 mins a stack this place is awesome!

With that said -- it's a very useful fabric, even though low level.

Just stood there in the same spot killing over and over. Dozens of bodies littered the ground...lol...linen drop rate was probably 65-75% if I had to guess and some greens dropped too. Awesome linen farming spot. This is post 3.3.

"No doubt, the expression 20 yards of linen = 1 coat . . .implies the opposite relation: 1 coat = 20 yards of linen…But in that case I must reverse the equation, in order to express the value of the coat relatively; and, so soon as I do that, the linen becomes the equivalent instead of the coat…whether, then, a commodity assumes the relative form, or the opposite equivalent form, depends entirely upon its accidental position in the expression of value–that is, upon whether it is the commodity whose value is being expressed, or the commodity in which value is being expressed."

Confirming that this still works with the 4.0.1 patch.
Also, don't forget to bring along a low-damage ranged weapon (low-cost, ranged abilities like Death Grip or Hand of Reckoning can replace this to a degree). I didn't think of it til a Fire Wand dropped while I was farming, but if you can pull them to you and take them out with an AoE ability (in my case, Holy Nova) you can save time running around whilst farming. Easier than just taking them out one by one ;)

Deadmines isn't great for linen cloth now. A lot of the humanoid mobs didn't drop any at all.
My final totals were:
79 linen
43 wool
And it took about half an hour for the full clear, mostly time spent looting. Did get a lot of greens though.

A good way to do it is to just run the first part of RFC up to where the circle of Troggs are, then run out reset and run back in to repeat. They drop a lot of linen cloth and you don't have to waste time killing or running past enemies that don't drop it like the elementals.

Best place by far to farm Linen Cloth is by the new (4.03) Sentinel Hill. Go down to the bottom of the hill and kill Riverpaw Gnolls. They respawn very fast - sometimes a new one spawns before the last one hits the ground. If you look at the map, go to the break in the wall just below where it says "Sentinel Hill" and run back and forth, killing and looting. Good Luck!(##RESPBREAK##)16##DELIM##asakawa##DELIM##

To get lots of linen and wool cloth, go to Hillsbrad Hills. At the entrance coming from the south, going into The Sludge Fields, go just past the junk barrier. At around 37.54.- 2 groups of 3 Risen Gouhl's spawn almost instantly when they are killed. I farmed 160 Wool . Cloth and 178 Linen Cloth. Also 14 green items and 1 blue. It took me around 30 min. I stood in the center of the area they spawn in, use AOE, loot one corpse, AOE again, loot one again. After doing this 5 times, I looted all the bodies piled around me. Rinse and repeat. Did this with a lvl 80 Rogue.

Instant spawn Wool and linen farming. (Horde)
Hillsbrad Foothills - "The Sludge Fields"
Northwest of Southshore ruins and north of Azurelode mine. Along the main road halfway between Silverpine forest and Arathi Highlands.
At the southside of this prison camp is a gauntlet of barriers ina zig-zag formation. Through this gauntlet run level 19 "Risen Hillsbrad Farmers". These farmers (They look like the DE pet) spawn instantly 3-4 at a time in waves.
Here is the beautiful thing. This is meant to be a sort of atmospheric thing. They rush the big bad Sludge guards, the guards dust them they die. Normally a mob like this can not be interacted with. Well, these can. The best part is they are programed to DIE. They lose health. All you have to do is Tap them (IE: AOE is probably best)
You do not even have to really fight them at that point they stop to fight you and slowly die. If you engage them right near their spawn point they may not auto-die.
You can farm up a LOT of linen and wool in a short time. They also drop greens. Basically the loot table is the same as any 19 but you kill 3-4 at a time and you dont even have to work to kill them.
Your main challenge, seriously, will be looting the bodies fast enough. This is like farming light leather in the McClure farm in Elwynn forest.
INSTANT SPAWN

I like to farm the Dagger Hills. I just spent about 15 minutes killing the mobs at the bottom on the mountains (between Moonbrook and Duskwood). I netted 1 green, 2.5 stacks of linen and about 50s. That's just for 15 minutes worth of work. The mobs have a ridiculously fast re-spawn rate, too, so you can farm that same area all day, everyday, and make some serious bank.
I also enjoy farming out Jasperlode & Fargodeep mines. The Kobolds are so easy to kill, even for lower level characters (ie, 20-30) and they re-spawn almost immediately.

For anyone planning on farming Sentinel Hill because they heard the gnolls drop linen cloth in heaps keep this in mind:
PHASING MATTERS
If you are completely phased in this zone (i.e. the place is on fire) then there will be no gnolls and Defias mobs will be in their place. (I am unsure what is available at other levels of phasing, like having partially quested in the area but didn't finish the long quest chain before moving onto a new zone etc). I found that these did not drop the cloth at the same rate and some of the jumping mobs were a pain to have to run after and loot.
If you want to farm this area and have alts that are not phased and high enough to handle the mobs there quickly use them. I took my DK.
If you go out the back door of the inn you'll see a bunch of guards in a line fighting gnolls. This is a constant respawn area. You will never run out of things to kill. In fact at times trying to loot bodies a gnoll would spawn and as I right clicked to loot my attack icon went up and I ended up killing them.
Sometimes in this small spot the gnolls will spawn in quick waves at one of the guards. You'll get used to seeing this and if you have large ticking AoE's all you have to do is throw that down and stand there and loot as 10 mobs die in seconds.
While some people have claimed huge amounts of linen cloth in ten minutes, honestly I got 5-7 stacks every 15 mins (and that was with non-stop killing and looting). Which is pretty good and with constant respawn you will never be short a mob to kill or have to run more then a couple of yards to kill something. Staying behind the inn gives you quick access to a mailbox to mail cloth off and sell off all that extra stuff you picked up. I saw tons of greens, picked up a cooking recipe, a blacksmithing recipe and a small bag.
I was farming cloth for goblin rep and found out that my main who had done the Westfall quests to see what had changed couldn't farm nearly as well as my unphased toons. Keep this in mind if you're there for AH money, cloth for profs or cloth for turn-ins.

Adding some data,
I farmed this spot for exactly 60 minutes and ended up with:
757 linen cloth
24 greens
2 recipes
a whole lot of vendor trash
As mentioned, the spawn is continous: as soon as you kill one, another will spawn immediately. They have about 10 spawn locations which I divided up into two groups of 5 which were covered by one Swipe. This way, I simply swiped until all mobs had respawned in the other group, leaving me to clear the corpses without interference (such as attacking a mob that's standing over a corpse; annoying, because if you're not facing that mob, you won't attack and you'll lose a very slight amount of time). After looting I moved over to the other group and repeated (ad nauseam, I might add).

Want lots of linen and wool? A nice selection of greens as well?
Hate to move your toon to kill and loot?
Then the Sludge Fields in Hillsbrad is the place for your to bring your high level toon!
Plop your favorite AOE toon at this exact spot: 37.0, 56.7. You will be in the dead center of five spawn points for Risen Hillsbrad Farmers and Peasants. They will spawn in sets of three.
Wait for the three all to rise. They will pause a second. Slay them ALL. Another three will spawn immediately.
Loot one or two while the next ones are spawning, kill, loot again, and repeat until your bags are full. If you fall behind in looting, let a few go and pick up the loot for a few seconds.
You don't have to move your toon AT ALL.
In 30 minutes, I looted 201 linen, 158 wool, 11 greens, a gem and 33 junk pieces. I'm slow and clumsy.
Other places may be a bit 'faster', but do they let you park your toon completely, then just slay and loot?
The Horde can fly to Tarren Mill, mail the spoils to their twink or bank toon, and be back very fast.

I need a lot of these (50-100 stacks) and since I am always poor it's too expensive on AH. I do buy eg. stacks under 10g but there's only a few each day.
I tried the Sludge Fields but it's really not good. The mobs respawn very slowly at the guards. I did find some that respawn quickly but they are quite spread (no aoe) and they have low linen drop rate as well.
The RFC trogg part gives 1 - 1.5 stacks per run which is also not a lot.
I did went to Westfall but if I kill the mobs fighting the guards I kill the guards too (I am horde), and instantly some high level guards appear and start to pew pew me so that did not work out too well.
Is there still a good method or I need to make an alliance mage? :(

In westfall, to the east of moonbrook, there is a camp of gnolls. If you stand in the right spot, you can one shot gnolls and another appears instantly in the same spot the last one respawned. As of 5.0.4 Sentinel Hill is still the best place as a mage (level 85) I can stand still and spam arcane explosion and it will kill at least 2 gnolls every global as they are still instant respawns. If you're in Tirisfal Glades and you want some quick linen cloth, based on my experience of about ten minutes ago, the best answer is to go somewhere else. Horrible drop rates, small numbers of mobs mostly spread out, and nothing respawns with any alacrity whatever.

Linen Cloth (LC) is the first kind of cloth that drops off of low level humanoid mobs. They are mainly used for
裁缝
purposes, though LC may also benefit other crafting professions, in order to level them up.
There are a lot of different places that have mobs who will drop LC for you, but when I farm for something, I don’t often like running around, chasing mobs down to kill them. I like killing and looting them in a group. After I did a bunch of traveling to find the perfect spots, I did some five-minute killing sprees in each location of the zones below and totaled all of it.
Westfall
- Totaled 583 LC.
-- At the locations of those bordering Sentinel Hill is a phased area. If you’ve done the whole quest chain, you’re not going to find any mobs–the town will be in flames. As a result, you’ll want to go to the other locations instead.
Redridge Mountains
– Totaled 236 LC.
Northern Barrens
– Totaled 62 LC.
Ragefire Chasm – Totaled 34 LC.
As far as selling these on the AH, I’d put them in stacks of five, ten or twenty. Never put LC as single stacks on the AH, unless all you have is one. It only serves to aggravate people, and despite the fact that all your items may be cheap, people will more than likely skip them and move onto a larger stack size. Also remember to not flood the market. LC is easily obtained, but a lot of people don’t like farming and will stick to buying on the AH if it suits them.
Example of gold acquired.

I followed the advice and went after riverpaw gnolls.. not so great. I'm level 70 and just starting my first aid. I find that INSIDE sentinel hill is the greatest place to farm linen. The Defias people drop more of it and they respawn way quicker. I'd kill like 8 of them and start to go to search and 10 more replaced them.. it was awesome. So I recommend going just to sentinel hill and killing what everyone is already fighting.

Wetlands, 67,47. There are three groups fighting each other, dragonmaw whelpstealers vs ebon slavehunters. These 3 groups are one in the middle of the road, and one on each side. The respawn rate is ridiculous! Perfect place for linen cloth, wool cloth, silk cloth, and if you're a skinner, theres plenty of leather for you to pick up here as well. As as added bonus, you have a chance to pick up yourself a Tiny Crimson Whelpling!
I farmed here for 2 hours. Picked up 1413 wool cloth, 1356 linen cloth, 298 silk cloth, a handful of boe blues, too many greens to count, and a whelpling. and the best part of it all... ZERO downtime! A yak or tundra comes in handy for this spot. You're gonna need to vendor every 5 minutes or so, even with huge bags.
Happy farming!

Here's an example of how I made money buying/farming linen cloth.
I bought 34 stacks of Linen cloth for 2g each.
I made heavy linen gloves with my lvl 10 alt tailor.
I disenchanted everything into strange dusts and lesser magic essences.
One stack of strange dust is 40g on my server.
Out of 34 stacks of linen cloth (68g) I made 12 stacks of strange dust = 480g.
That's over 400g profit for almost 0 amount of work.
Good luck to anyone listening to this advice.

I also found that there does seem to be a very real limit on how much loot you can loot at once. I am using Xloot (because I like a tidier loot frame), but after this run it may be re-think using blizzards, my loot frame became so huge I couldn't see everything at all.
Which exposed either an issue of the add-on, or a limitation on the auto loot everything feature. There seemed to be a limit on the amount of mobs that could be in a single set of looting (not just how far away, but an actual count). I had to run around like a madman looting after a while, to make sure I got all my cloth and money.
Now what I did was something I've done for years when I'm just farming cloth: I bought a couple of stacks of linen cloth (3) off the AH, then split those down and put a single piece of cloth in every single free spot in my bags (i use a bag add-on too, so it all looks like a single bag). This allowed me to just farm mindlessly. Even had this area not existed (which I'm pretty darn sure blizz knows about) I would have farmed instances in this manner.
based on what I put on the AH last night, I'm not going to get extremely rich using this method, BUT when I was helping my fiancé level her tailor a few weeks ago there was hardly any cloth on the AH. So, if I can assist in a small way.... and profit. I'm all for it

If you are a low level character you can go to Fray Island near Ratchet. Each Southsea Cutthroat drops 1-3 linen cloth.

I guess this is what Vanessa meant when she said that the gnolls created the distraction she needed. Everyone is grinding on them for linen!

Right now, for alliance, a good place to farm cloth for both high and low lvl, is in the main island in Crystal Lake right next to Goldshire. You can kill off low-lvl Murlocs 10 at a time, especially if you have a DoT. They don't have the highest drop rate, but they do have a very short respawn rate, can be around 10 seconds. If you are judicious enough with your damage vs. looting, you will never stop attacking things in that very small area. I don't have any statistics, but I did this over a few days between battlegrounds and ended up with more than a stack of 200 and many many clams. If you are over level 15 these guys will be gray for you, so no XP (if that's important).
Later edit: about 20 minutes of this, sustained, yielded 112 cloth and 65 clams and not enough cash to report on.

There is a decent spot in southern Westfall, right around where Jango Spothide spawns. There is a camp right next to him where the npc respawn rate is almost instant after you kill Riverpaw Taskmasters and Mystics. Per wowhead drop tables linen cloth is 65% expected drop of 1-3 which I found to be pretty spot on.
Pretty decent spot to grind a lvl or 2 for a low teens char and farm cloth. They do seem to drop a reasonable amount of greens and vendor junk as well.

21st of March 2017 - Level 100 Frost Mage - one run each.
DeadMines = 36 Linen, 52 Wool
Wailing Caverns = 10 Linen, 8 Wool
Shadowfang Keep = 41 Linen, 75 Wool, 3 Silk
Blackfathom Deeps = 14 Linen, 50 Wool, 1 Silk
The Stockade = 7 Linen, 63 Wool (41 form Hogger Side, 0 from Elemental Side)
So the best dungeon to farm linen and to not hassle low lvl players trying to quest is
SFK (41) then Deadmines (36)
