I've never used them in PvP but I know it can be a life saver if you pull too many mobs and need to run. AOE stun for the win.

These are particularly powerful when combined with another stun you have, even if only used on a single target. I have been having fun all day with:

Dragon's Breath>Scorch>Fel Iron Bomb>Scorch>Scorch>Fire Blast

which is about 4k non-crit (more like 6k if you have combustion up), and there is almost nothing they can do about it.

Great for a warrior tank. On multi-target pulls, gather everything around you and drop one of these. Stuns most/all, giving the healer a sec to get that heal off, and generates good threat on everything.

Wish I knew if the threat from damage was increased by defencive stance or not. Either way, very helpful for those "Oh crap" moments.

are these still instant cast?

on wowhead it says instant but on the official wow forums it says 1 sec cast time

These seem to be broken on live? I'm guessing it has something to do with Chromie Time and the level squish. If I try to use them on a mob, cast bar fills then turns red and says Failed. If I use one on the ground where no mob is, it goes off fine. Am level 29 in TBC Chromie Time phase, in Blade's Edge Mountains on Crystal Flayers and Nether Drakes.
