Earth, Water, Air and fire Fire are found in Nagrand at the Elemental Plateau above the Throne of Elements, where fast spawning level 70 elemental's can be found.
Mana is from mobs in Netherstorm like th fishes and Nether Rays
In an hour you can generally make at least enough matts for Earth,Fire,Air,Water primal's if its quite on the plateau. Take you a little longer to get the Primal Mana because the mob's are spread out in Netherstorm.
That being said it wasn't to painful to farm the 40 of each mote I needed for my specialisation.

Alchemists, who craft this, may have decided to persue the transmute specialty. This yields the slight possibility to create more than one primal (up to 5) even though it just uses the mats for one. This multiple result is reflected in the group log, and as such is visible to all group members.
When dealing with an Alchemist and buying this transmute, it is generally expected that since he has taken extra time and money to pursue this specialization, that the extra yielded primals will belong to him, and that whoever provided the mats and paid for the transmute is only owed what they paid for: one primal might.
If you feel otherwise, it is recommended that you discuss the possibility of a transmute yielding multiple primals, and who should get them. It can’t hurt to ask, and you may be able to pay a premium for the transmute in return for the extra primal if it drops.

I have done between 10-15 primal might transmutes, and have had a double-might proc twice, for anyone that is interested.
Also, I was just doing a might transmute and my character cheered which was followed by this emote/text:
DISCOVERY! *your toons name* has discovered how to transmute primal mana to fire.
You have learned how to create a new item: Transmute: Primal Mana to Fire.

That's the way I would do it.
If an additional primal is created the transmute fee will be returned, or give the guy who provided the mats with a discount, either way it's something to look forward to ^^

Once you become a Transmutation Master, you have a possibility of getting the proc anytime you transmute something. Skill level does not matter.

Well, I do believe that having the transmutation spec gives alchemist right to choose whether they want to give extra primal mights or not.
I'm one of them, and I don't see the reason why should i give additional mights for the person that buys my service. I'm given the mats and money for one transmutation = for 1 might. If I get more, well then it's only my luck. Due to my effort and decision I became transmut. master so why should other people get profits of this ?
Of course there are many ways to discuss first, get in a deal etc.

I farm the mats for primal mights, usually two at a time. Then i go to a city, and ask in trade channel for a Transmute spec'd alchemist. On my server most people charge 5g, and upon asking for a transmute spec, i make sure that i will get anything tht procs, and i am in party so i can see it. So it has to be a agreement before any trading, and make sure you both understand what will happen to the procs.

I was able to successfully grind Primal Air, Water, and Earth for this within 2 hours in Nagrand.
Granted, I was level 70 at the time and able to fly above the beasts to just find the Air, Water, and Earth elementals roaming around to kill (which I strongly suggest doing, it saves time to just fly over other beasts). However, anyone level 65 and above should have no problem grinding these 3 Primals within 3-4 hours *max*. After that it's just a hop skip and jump to the other 2 Primals to get Might.
Also, I should note that now that all elementals have the chance to drop their respective Essences, grinding motes for primals has become even more lucrative, with each essence selling (At least on Dentarg) for 2-5g a piece. This is free gold! They drop relatively often and is just another reason to take just a couple hours and grind up some primals.

ok so an alchemist gets the fruit of your labours, why? he farmed his 4 primal mights? no one forced him to choose that specialisation, if u went out and farmed all the mats for x number of primal mights, its pretty screwed that someone else is gunna be able to take the resulting "spares", especially when they sell for 120g+ (Thaurissan).

For the ones who said they would want people to pay additionally up front- how hard is it to say you are transmute specced, when you aint and get additional gold?
I would preffer saying something like "10g to transmute, if it proccs you can pay 10g extra and get the procc". After all, you wouldnt have gotten the 2d might if they guy didnt want to transmute it in the first place.

I can easily gather mats for 1 Primal Might in an hour or less if I'm quick about changing farming areas for the different primals.
My usual spots are:
Primal Fire -
http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=22298
(1st choice) and
http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=22311
(2nd choice)
Primal Water -
http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=21728
(1st choice) and
http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=22309
(2nd choice). To all you frost mages who complain, USE ARCANE. I'm full frost and it only takes me 10 seconds. If you don't enjoy it then you could probably make a deal with a fire mage who wants Primal Fire.
Primal Mana -
http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=17870
Primal Earth - I never have the need to farm this because I take in ALOT off mining.
Primal Air -
http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=21060
(1st choice) and
http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=22310
(2nd choice)
I don't usually go to the Elemental Plateau; Generally it's crowded and it seems as if drop rates are less there than they are in other places. If I'm looking for more than 1-2 types of primals at a time than I may go there, but of course, it isn't my 1st choice.

I find that ppl who keep all the extras to be lame. When you ask someone to disenchant something and it results in 2+ essences or dust, they don't just hand you 1 back and keep the rest.
I sure as hell don't go out and farm for hours so that someone can charge me 10g for a transmute, then turn around and make 100-400g profit off of pressing one button with my hard earned mats.

well... for Alchemysts The Primal Might isn't rly that good for earning money, but it is good for gaining skill. sense you spend 59 g for mats aproctimatly it can be soled for 70g,with a cooldown of 23 hrs. i suggest that you can give away primal might to the player that gives you mats. :) no fee sort to speak.

Motes of Water can be found at the Elemntal Plateau in Nagrand??
Well I haven't found any.
Motes of Fire, Motes of Air, and a few Motes of Earth (only two rock elementals spawn at the location) can be obtained there easily - except there're usually many people camping the area, and many don'¨t mind ninjaeing.
On a side note: Apropos ninjaeing ... It's not necessarily enough that you hit the target. Another can still steal it from you, if he happens to have higher dps than you did. - At least this is what happened to me over the last few days, when a mage ninjaed my targets after I had begun hitting them.

The best way I found to resolve the transmute issue is this. Tell them that you will sell them the 1 Primal Might for Xgs. and that any procs would be sold for a discounted rate if they so chose. So for example, If you were to sell the transmute for 20G (just an example, the price would be to your choosing) you could sell any additional procs for 15G. If they didn't want to pay the 15G then the procs are yours.
Another way I have seen Alchemests do this, is sell the transmute, but if it procs, the Primal Might is free, and then the Alchemest keeps the procs. So the Customer get a free primal might and the alchemest gets his paycheck,.

Transmute issue: "/2 WTS primal might transmute". Buyer puts mats in trade window, you put a premade might in the window, click trade. Then you laugh all the way to the bank, where you make a new might.

it's been my experience that 1x on the AH is almost always cheaper than the cost of the individual primals, so be sure to price it out before farming (the flip side is that it's almost always more profitable for alchemists to sell the individual mats instead of transmuting mights unless they're transmute spec'd)

Also paying halv of the crafting cost is not in proportion of the chance of getting an extra. If there is 10% chance to get an extra might he should pay 10% extra in "gambling-cost", not 50%.

It should be noted that nowdays there are so many people trying to use this to level their Alchemy, that no one should need to pay for a transmute. I am on a medium population server, have had over 20 transmutes, and can always find someone that values the intrinsic value of a skillpoint over someone who just wants 5g (which is what people try to sell thier transmutes for on my server).

As for the extra procs with transmutes allways talk it over before doing the transmute and how to pay if there will be procs.
There are a lot different ways like said above, you can gamble and get the extras or you can get your money back and let the transmuter get extras and i guess there are several more ways of dealing with this.
But as i said make a deal before transmute how to deal with procs.
And BTW 15g is a fair price for the transmute as the mats goes for average 95g due to wohead prices and the BO of the primal is 150g you still get it a lot cheaper.

Personally I think it's unfair. I do not believe an alchemist should be asking for a tip since they're getting a chance to get the proc. It's like asking for an enchanter to DE something that has the chance of 1.5x Greater Planar Essence, and it procs for 2, you give the person 1x planar essence and get tip as well. Most people would think that's unfair.

What a bunch of whiners. Yes, I understand you busted your butt to either farm or buy the mats, but I busted my butt to get xmutation mastery.
You may be tipping for the proc, but what you are really buying is the 20 hour cooldown. Your alchemist cannot transmute anything again for another 20 hours. So if I xmute for you, I have absolutely 0 opportunity to process anything for myself till tomorrow. 0 gold for me. Yay!
As for multiples from xmutation master, since the latest patch went live, I have processed only 2 multiples, and they were both only 1 extra. It's supposed to give a chance to produce up to a total of 5. I've done that only once, and that was before the latest patch. But I used to produce multiples 20% of the time, anywhere from 2-4 extra, usually 2 or 3. At least once a week, sometimes twice - I was in the money.
I make a deal with people for whom I sell my cooldown. I get a tip regardless because I won't be able to process again till tomorrow. If it produces multiples, buyer keeps odds, I keep evens. In other words, if it produces 5, you keep might # 1, 3 and 5. I keep # 2 and 4. AND I still get the tip for selling my cooldown.
But again, since the latest patch, 2 months now, I've only gotten 2 multiples (processing every day) and they were both 2 mights out of the deal. Xmutation master just doesn't pay like it used to. In fact, I'm thinking of giving it up for Pot or elixir master. At least that doesn't have a cooldown and really pays off better than xmute mastery - always has.

jclement30
Follow up: After 2 months of processing might and getting only the 2 instances of multiples, I contacted Blizzard Support. I did not get a response to my query, but the next 3 days, I got 3 multiple xmutes: all 2 each. At first I thought they had changed xmutation mastery to be like other masteries: where processing always produces 2. Well, that's not true. But it does seem that xmutation does produce multiples a little more often. It's still not like it was prior to August, but better.
I'm still debating switching to another mastery.

Complicated answer: if someone specializes in alchemy, especially transmutes, the extra proc is a major component of their income. They could already be making more money by transmuting their own mats from then to the AH than they get from tips. Taking away the random specialization proc would only makes their profession even less effective.
So basically...an alchemist is already stupid if they're wasting a cooldown on a random scrub vs. their own mats.
That's for transmutes that have a cooldown. For potions or anything without a cooldown...basically, who cares :) no big deal either way. You paid him for 1 you get 1, be happy if someone gives you 2 when you only paid for 1.

These suckers can fetch a mighty nice price on Auction house. If you have an engineer/alchemist. you can faceroll your way to getting it quicker (aclh to craft, herb to get green, engineer to get air's. rest are easily farmed).
A fledgling enchanter will have trouble with this, which is why you might want to wait till 80 pick up quicker on leveling enchanting, where you'll have a substantial income to support it.

The best way I've seen to farm for these, is as well as killing the mobs, is to use a

. However, you have to be a engineer of sufficient skill level to use. This doesn't mean you have to have your character know engineering and alchemy, you can just have another character with engineering farm them.

These are going for 700g a pop if I remember correctly, so I'll confirm the best (imo) spots to farm each "element" for the primals.
Mote of Air: You actually start NW of the Altar of Shatar (NE Shadowmoon Valley) and run behind the hills behind the Altar and keep going East along the edge until you find no more Eles. After that, fly down to the giant crystals in SE Shadowmoon Valley finding Eles all around there, then head south through the pass to the East of Sanctum of the Stars and around South and West of that area. Repeat as needed. (Also, there are Water Eles in the very few water areas in SMV, East of Coilskar Point, which will help supplement a few Motes of Water before you head off to that farm site)
Mote of Water: VERY SE Terokkar Forest, the waters NW of Skettis. You probably won't even have to go into the water, but as a S.Priest it was fairly easy to levitate while running across and throwing a SW: Pain to kill them.
Mote of Earth: Be a miner. Apart from that, Nagrand has plenty of spots where Earth Eles are gathered (as well as some Wind and Water opportunites in the hills, all around Nagrand, and the lakes). I believe I farmed my Earth mostly in Netherstorm, however, south of Area 52 from the earth eles.
Mote of Mana: DEFINITELY South and NE to NW of Area 52 in Netherstorm. Mana Wraiths. At the same time you'll be seeing a lot of earth eles too. Good combo spot.
Mote of Fire: I chose the NE-most plateau of Hellfire Peninsula, from the fire eles there. Didn't take long at all. I noticed a lot of Fire Eles in SMV also, but I'd already taken care of fire and didn't care to farm more.
Good luck!
Also, Primal Earth and Primal Fire were relatively cheap on the AH, whereas Mana was about 15g each, Air was about 25, and water about 20.
