Excellent weapon for a Warrior or even a Hunter. Warriors have priority in my guild due to not having many of them. Has a surprising high drop rate it would seem.
An excellent warrior weapon, and although the 22 agility would make it a pretty nice hunter weapon with a 25 agility enchant, the melee proc is normally enough to discourage any hunter from bidding on it. There are far better hunter weapons, and generally 1H weapon combinations yield the best stats for hunters anyway.
2 Bone Slicing Hatchets
are far superior for hunters. However you're not saying it's a hunter weapon anyhow.
The proc is STR, not AP, so it belongs in the hands of classes that calculate strength as 2 AP, instead of 1. IIRC this is Paladins, Warriors, and Shamans. Pity that Shamans cannot use swords, because this would be a terrific enhancement weapon.
Due to proc-style combat, this can make paladins very happy. Crusader enchant, this proc, and a seal can ensure *something* happens every 3 or 4 swings. It really makes a class with not (current) instant melee ability more fun. IMHO Warriors (who go 2 hand) should desire more base DPS, slower speed, and more consistant stats. For 2h Fury, a spec becoming very popular, this works out as a great grinding tool (+600 AP ) but the proc rate doesn't warrant the stat cut for total raid DPS.
absolutely not a hunter weapon, the 300 str proc makes it warrior priority hands down, plus with the agi attack power nerf zin'rokh would give way more agi than this even without an enchant
It's nice weapon but if your guild is doing OK in other instances you can get better weapons, even in ZG.
With crusader enchant, this is arguably the best sword in BWL. Proc for UTB is 300 str, and proc for crusader is 100 str. total of 400 STR if they both proc x 2 AP (for a warrior 1 str = 2 ap) = 800 AP.
I'd say this procs...maybe once every 12 hits.
Crusader + UTB proc rocks with Bloodthirst. Can easy crit with Bloodthirst for 2000 when the proc is active + crusader. I Would prefer UTB over Ashkandi and Draketalon Cleaver for a 2H fury spec warrior.
i had this on my paladin. untamed fury (the +300 strength buff) can proc of judgement and crusader strike
This was blade was copied and recolored in TBC for the weapon
Talon of Azshara
WTB a warrior dual-wielding these with
enchanted on each! (possible quadruple-proc = +1,400 AP) I am uncertain how much extra DPS that is... but it could be fun to have... well... tons more AP than you should :-)
Anyone know how much DPS that would add to a warrior at level 80? I do not know for I play a druid...
An upradge from(
)at least the CoH
This is the best attack power weapons in the game at level 60 once it is enchanted. Adds over 1000 attack power to an arms warrior
If you want to know how powerful this proc was back then, just image you having Darkmoon Card: Greatness Pre-BC.
If only there were more weapons with proc's like that today.
Although I suppose the trinkets such as Darkmoon Card and Death's Verdict(Choice) take care of the effect, Its just a thought. :)
This sword is the single most awesome skin I've ever seen.
I'm going back to BWL on my Warrior and my DK just for the bling. Maybe my hunter too...
I propose we petition blizz to make another weapon with this skin, or an Heirloom with this skin...because it is definitely worth it!
It's spikier and less tamed than your average sword or blade.
The Dragon Sword of the Hayabusa ninja clan!
As of patch 4.3, it's still there, and the looks? Well, they're still awesome!
Did this weapon used to give Attack Power instead of Agility?
An Agility bonus on a weapon with a proc that increased your Strength seems a bit silly.
i want this weapon... for my transmog... NOW... :(
I've ran this twice on my DK and it dropped, 18 times for my pally before it dropped and
it's now 37 times for my warrior and it ain't dropped yet. Damn the RNG gods, damn them all !
I've run this as much as I can since returning to the game in WoD (quit at Cataclysm cause of r/l). I ran BWL for every kill but one in classic with my guild and it dropped the only time I had to bow out.
Fast forward to WotLK: I clear this weekly on my warrior (having done a few kills in BC and LK) and I have still never seen this drop for my warrior. I have Thunderfury, almost on 2 characters, and nearly 2 sets of Warglaives. But holy !@#$ this is the rarest thing since common sense.
Also: My rogue got one when farming her Bloodfang transmog. >_>
does any one remember what the sword was called that looked like this except green instead of red?
Battle for Azeroth 8.0.1 Testing - The Untamed Blade
Testing on a 69 Retribution Paladin revealed:
1. The buff ("Untamed Fury") from the proc still gives the full 243 Strength at level 69.
2. The proc rate is quite good; I would estimate a 30-35% uptime based on going through a DPS rotation on a training dummy.
3. The proc has no internal cooldown; the buff sometimes refreshes its own duration as a result of near-back-to-back procs.
4. I observed the proc occur from auto-attacks, Crusader Strike, Templar's Verdict, and, interestingly, Blade of Justice (despite the fact that the latter is technically not a melee attack).
: Let's look at other attack power boosts you could get at level 69. Landslide gives 112 AP; Sonic Booster trinket from Engineering gives 84 AP; Banner of Victory trinket gives 123 AP. What if you could have a high-frequency proc that gave more AP than any two of those combined? Even if you had to trade some of your weapon's DPS and stats to get it? Would it be worth it? In a word: yes. Sure, Sul'thraze the Lasher's proc is so OP that it's probably still better than anything else, even at level 69. But with The Untamed Blade I get consistent huge Templar's Verdict crits (record: 3938), and if that isn't burst, I don't know what is. If you can get it to drop, try The Untamed Blade. You might fall in love with it.
Frequently procs; still gives full 243 Strength at 69. Combined with other AP-boosting procs from trinkets it can make you bursty AF.
69 Twink Rating:
5 out of 5 noob skulls
Not even considering this weapon dropped way back in Vanilla WoW... it's still pretty amazing how well this model still looks.
