Is this better for Rogue or would "Darkmoon Card: Heroism" be better??
Darkmoon Card: Heroism is really great for PvP and PvE.. But i prefer Heroism :))
I'm extremely happy with this trinket as a fury warrior who mostly PvPs. Great addition to burst DPS.
Whether Burning Crusade will have any trinkets that rival this I don't know, but if you're thinking of getting this card, bare in mind that while the majority of the Elementals cards are trivial to obtain via the Auction House (as they are world drops), the Five of Elementals (
) only drops from mobs inside various late-60's 5, 10, and 20-man instances and a few select Plaguelands mobs, so may take you a while to get hold of.
Will this proc in Druid cat & bear form as well?
For Paladins weapon enchants can proc off of normal swings, seal procs (like SoC and SoBlood too I believe), judgements, and off of crusader strike. Yet between Thottbot, Allakhazam, and here, I have yet to read if this procs like weapon enchants do for Paladins. So if there are any Paladins out there that have this, could you please post if this procs off those abilities too?
Also would be nice to know how nice this is (or isn't) in general relating to Paladins post BC. Most posts I've read are about Rogues, Fury Warriors, and Druid forms. Next to no one mentions how it is for Paladins.
Well,i would like to ask if anyone knows,if the proc reduces when you are above 60 and also compare it to this
Even though the Poison Vial is better, this is a very good alternative. I use it on my warrior and rogue and it procs a good amount, but you can get unlucky and it doesn't proc at all, then boom! 3 procs in a row.
This trinket does not depend on weapon speed like some other trinkets and abilities do (the Shaman weapon enchants for example) and it keep s the same damage, with a small chance to crit, all the way through to 70 (i.e. does not scale down like Crusader). Most of the procs that I have witnessed at 70 are closer to the 200 mark, but that maybe due to resistance and such. Overall, a great investment.
I guess I may add a comment as well since so many posters have exaggerated the value of this item. Clearly, this trinket is nothing for the L70 player as there are far better choices available these days. Face it, 50-100g spent for the cards at AH would be better spent on something with a real value, obviously prices vary on different servers but if you are lucky enough to find a buyer for the epic deck itself, do not hesitate to let it go for whatever you can get out of it.
Is far better. Higher damage proc, base +hit. Pre-BC this may have been a good investment, but now it's outclassed by most blue trinkets.
Dont dog the darkmoon card! I love it. I use it on my druid in cat form when I absolutely have to go cat (am balance) It is nice when you arent feral so I will take any help i can get in feral dmg. Plus it crits. Plus I did work hard pre-bc to get it. Because like it or not as a druid there are times when u cant be moonkin and going melee is better and this helps a lot i find.
Although the damage stated is from 200 to 300. This trinket is well capable of doing more than the stated 300.
I have had this go almost 400 that I have seen. Didn't think to take a picture till today. So if wowhead allows it. You will have a screenshot of over 300 for the Nature damage.
I have to say. I paid ~8g average per card on my server. So for ~64g - and someone that doesn't get to raid, often or at all - this is definitely a trinket worth getting.
I think the key thought to considering this trinket is how you play. If you do raids and get to go into those instances. Then by all means:
Romulo's Poison Vial
is a much better choice - so long as it drops. But if you don't play within those places, then stick to getting this trinket.
Does this proc off of ranged weapons as well, anyone know?
Well, i would like to ask if anyone knows, if the proc reduces when you are above 60...
I am level 63 right now. As far as I can tell it does not reduce with my level or with the level of the target.
I have it go off on Outland bosses just as much as Ashenvale mobs or even Horde players.
It does go - as someone else stated - two or three mobs and
proc. Then on my next fight it will proc as much as four times before I kill the mob, and then proc 1,2, or 3 times fighting my next 5 enemies.
I think "Chance to strike..." is on a per hit basis. I will monitor my Recount addon and edit this when I get a bit more info.
Still wondering, would this be worth getting for a rogue spec using 2x Instant Poison with Romulo's Poison Vial? I mean, that's 4 different procs that add over 200 damage per, could these all proc together?
Obviously the level 70 item is going to be better than a 60 item. That's just common dog.
You CAN however equip both for lots of extra burst damage. As far as I know.
I assume this is a ppm (procs per minute) kind of thing.
If someone could toss some hard records or info down it would be a whole lot easier to compare this trinket to others to see which would lead to bigger net dps and junk.
Maybe for instance how it compares to:
(Terokkar Tablet of Precision)
(Ogre Mauler's Badge)
I'm only tossing in pre-lvl 70 junk since I assume lvl 70 stuff will be obviously better.
Was actually pretty surprised to see that unless I overlooked a comment (though I am pretty sure I didn't) that no one has made much mention of this trinket used in conjuction with Stormstrike.
From my understanding, while spell damage doesn't increase damage delt, Stormstrike since it is a flat 20% increase of damage from the Nature school that it applies to this proc much in the way that the holy damage from the furies deck will be increased by RF.
Can't confirm yet since I my shammie is only 52 but I just turned it in and will update this when I hit 60 if no else has before then... having an extra 40-60 damage isn't jaw-dropping but like anything it adds up and there are numerous times where I don't want to rebuff lightening shield and a charge from Stormstrike goes unused.
Will be pretty nice if this is true and will be nice to be a bit more frugal like the debuff from Stormstrike instead of wasteful.
Just thought I would mention it.
Im guessing its not but i like having a second opinion this is probably not viable at 80 compared to other trinkets im guessing, i am an 80 fury warrior.
can this also be used by hunters? or only able to be used by meele classes
Assuming that this has no cooldown on procs, and it seems to be so... This trinket could still be quite useful even in early levels of WOTLK assuming you don't have Romulo's Poison Vial.
Because if my memory serves me right, the WOTLK on-hit trinkets that work similarly to this tend to do between 1000 and 2000 damage on a 45 second cooldown - and if Maelstrom card has higher proc rate then 5 PPM (assuming it's procs per minute and not just a %), it could be a comparable trinket in strength, even though quite a downgrade.
I almost miss this from vanilla...
if you're a hunter and you use this will it work? it saying chance to strike your melee target made me think maybe it's only for melee classes. can someone please reply? (and i mean using range)
ok this is a rogues best friend lets see deadly poizen + garrote + hemorage + hy speed daggers that trinket will activate every couple of secons
I bought it today for a fresh level 60 paladin alt and I must say it's a real treat.
Procs often, crited in the first fight for 471. Seems about 10% -- give or take.
"I am the Maelstrom: Stare into me and what will you see? The upcomming opportunities or the inevitable downfall of all that you hold dear?"
The Maelsrom symbolises the turning of fate and the ability to take hold of it. What today favours you might one day be unfavorable, when the wheel twirls and turns.
Opportunity, chance and fate infuse this card in the upright position.
Discention, waste and consequences infuse this card in the reversed position.
I bought this today on my 60 throwback paladin for 50g.
I went to test it out on the 60 dummy in SW. And with my
equipped I found that the trinket can proc off of TF's proc. Furthermore, when the TF proc bounced to another dummy, the trinket CAN proc on the bounced target as well.
Thought this was pretty cool and interesting.
Just did 488 with this beauty.
