The rarest of the smithing volume halves, since it drops from Uruk Doomhowl, the rarely killed summoned boss in LBRS.

I say rarely killed not because he is hard, but because parties typically do not choose to do him.

Got this to drop for me on the first kill last night. What's the droprate on these? I want to get them all

He doesn't drop it often, i have killed him more than 10 times by now, no drop. Good luck!

I had one of these volumes that I got from the auction house, in 4.3, and it vanished from my bank. According to a GM ticket:

Hello,

Thank you for contacting the World of Warcraft Game Master Department.

Unfortunately, there is a known issue where the Enchanted Thorium Platemail volumes were not all correctly removed from the game. Please note that these volumes and the associated quests no longer exist in game and cannot be used to complete these quests as they were all deprecated when The Shattering was released. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but these quests can no longer be completed and all of these volumes were supposed to be removed from the game.
