I hope we get higher ilvl conduits from keys or something because many of mine are still 200, and it would be a waste to use this item...
Why couldn't they just make it so that we can pick which conduit to upgrade? Great game design...
I picked up one of these from the last boss of Adamant Vaults today
Received one as a reward from the last boss in Adamant vaults.
So does this upgrade something to past 226 automatically maybe? I have a newish toon and I don't want him to get a 145 of a conduit he does not have yet and completely waste this.
Also worth noting that even if you were maxed out at 226 conduits from season 1 this won’t push something to 252. Rather it moves it to 239.
Multiples of these do
Doesn't seem to be 100% drop rate. Everyone in my 5 man group, but me of course, got one to drop. I got the toy however.
I'd just like to confirm it does drop from 2nd run of the week of a different Torghast wing.
I did Coldheart Interstitia L11 and got a pet, then i did Upper Reaches L11 and it dropped there. So it is possible to get one from 2nd vault run of the week but must be the other wing.
So far I have run adamant vaults once last week and 3 times this week and have not got any Death-Bound Shards, mind you in one of those runs everyone in my group got one except me. Great system, highly recommend.
Just finished a solo layer 9 soulforges run, I think it's my 6th or 7th adamant vault run
and I still had it dropped just now. Prior to this run, all other runs netted me with either only anima, or anima and a shoulder transmog piece.
Does anyone know if this has a higher chance to drop if you run AV in higher layers of Torghast? Is it worthwhile to run it on layer 12 (if you can 5-star it), or is it better to simply spam layer 9 runs?
Since I looted a Death-Bound Shard a week ago in Torghast (and didn't use it), I didn't drop any Soultwining crescent (226) conduit upgrade item in korthia, although I haven't got all conduits at 226. Before that, I gained at least one every other day. Is it bad luck, or do I have to use my Death-Bound Shard to get more Soultwining Crescents?
Can absolutely confirm these will drop in Adamant Vaults ON ANY TRY!
Do NOT listen to the rumors that you only get 1 try per week - or 1 try per wing per week - both are false
Just ran my 9th adamant vaults this week, 5th time in that wing, and finally it dropped for me.
So can absolutely confirm it will drop on any run ,just not a high chance
Has anyone observed that there's a fixed pattern when activating these on what Conduits it upgrades?
Example: Night Fae Druid
My last 200 was Convoke.
My first 213 was Convoke.
My last 226 was Convoke.
My first 239 was Convoke.
And I'm pretty sure that Well-Honed Instincts was my second 213 and my second 239. So I'm pretty sure there's a fixed selection of what power you will get when you use one.
Can ANYONE confirm that you can get more than one of them per week? We know that you can get the item to drop AFTER your first run when you haven't gotten one yet. But what if you already have one, can you get a second one in the same week?
You can buy them at rank 6 of "Archivist's Codex" Reputation from
In contrast to the ones in 9.0 patch from Ve'nari, these are
, so there's no risk in buying multiple of them.
Can farm this in Adamant Vaults until it drops (1 per week, layer 9-12). Not sure if higher difficulty increases the drop chance.
To check if you have already looted it this week run this macro
We got a few important answers from Blizzard today:
About spec specific conduits:
It will now always pick conduits that fit your spec including generic covenant ones. So if you have all your conduits at 239 now and start using it after the change goes live tomorrow, it will only find your spec and covenant ones to upgrade further to 252. You would need to change spec to get the other ones to increase.
Additionally, the upgrade item will not function if all the conduits for your specialization are upgraded. The item will remain in your bags for you to use after changing specs.
About the loot chance in Torghast Adamant Vaults:
The drop percentage does increase with Torghast level.
About how often it can drop:
The Death-Bound Shard can only drop once a week in the Adamant Vaults.
After the recent changes to this item acquisition, i have been doing some testing on live server for a couple of weeks on my 2 geared characters, going in 5 man groups with friends. Basically, long story short, it currently seem to work like this:
On a layer 12 Flawless run, the endboss on floor 7 will 100% award you with this items (did this for 2 weeks, on 2 characters, with 5 players in group and each time all 5 got the shard, for a total of 20 drops); however, on the second run you do in the other torghast wing for the week, the drop chance seems to be 0%, as in none of those 5 players who got the shard on the first wing ever got one on the second.
In other words, i believe it's safe to assume that this item is now literally weekly capped at 1, as in you will drop it on your first flawless run of the week and that's it. Therefore, there is no longer any advantage in doing flawless runs on both wings in a given week, unless you are still after cosmetics/toys/achievements.
Finally, I am not aware wether these shard have a lower % for your fist flawless run at lower torghast levels, and im not even sure it matters since if you are after this item to minmax your character, chances are you are doing layer 12 anyway.
TLDR: Do your weekly flawless run, get your shard, blast through the second wing as fast as you can to get some soul cinders.
Unlike other items from Roh-Suir, this is account wide! Alts that are not yet tier 6 can now also buy them
CONFIRMED! This item WILL give you a useless 252 conduit that you don't need for the spec you are currently IN, not your selected loot specialization. so if you want to upgrade your offspec conduit from 226 you HAVE to change specs and not just your loot specialization
After noticing a pattern on upgrading conduits on my Priest, I decided to save up fragments to buy 12 of these at once on my Hunter. As it happened with my Priest, the upgraded conduits went straight down the list. Upgrade everything in alphabetical order under Endurance, THEN upgraded everything in alphabetical order under Finesse, THEN upgraded potency items in alphabetical order.
Unless my experience is just a wild coincidence, it appears this isn't "random" at all like the description says. Can anyone else confirm?
Yesterday I did flawless layer 12s on 7 characters solo. Every single one of them got a a shard from the adamant vaults boss on their first try. If it's not guaranteed from layer 12 adamant vaults then it is extremely high. This drop rate plummets when you do anything below a 12 though.
It feels like a scam. WW monks have thirteen conduits to upgrade to 252. If you do not raid, like me, while farming Korthia you can upgrade all conduits to 226 with Soultwining Crescent. That part is okay. After you spammed Korthia to hit Tier 6, without buying anything your research, you are still quite far from upgrading even all WW conduits to max. Five missing (10k grind, again!), and I had like two-ish from Torghast. The conduit system sucks. Don't get me started if I wanted to tank or heal. My pals who don't raid and don't do Korthia, are mostly stuck with 200 conduits, as so few drop from M+.
