I am told this is a great healer trinket, and maybe I've been mis-using it. It for sure shoots out four orbs, two on your left and two on your right in a wide spread, and the heal is negligible for its randomness. The proc rate is pretty good, and can even proc twice in a short ish period.
The boon also says it grants versatility to your party and heals the person picking it up
.. but I don't recall me picking up the buff gave it to others. Am I actually just not realizing that? Because I've been facing perpendicular to my melee group so I can woosh orbs onto them instead of isolating them for just myself.
The orb grants the versatility buff to your party, and I think this applies to raids as well. The heal is only on the person picking it up. Giving your party a versatility buff is still really good. Picking up orbs while buffed refreshes the buff to 10 seconds, no stacking.
Either way, it's a fun trinket to use, and I know on my rogue I've had my share of fun grabbing shiny orbs when they show in melee range.
Edit for April 27th 2021: The trinket is more just "okay" instead of "great", as season 1 is nearing its end. As mythic dungeons get pushed further and further, it becomes difficult to play the trinket mini-games while also trying to fulfill your role, including non-healers who might pick up a ball or two. The heal remains very insignificant even at high item levels, and while the versatility is nice, it's not on-demand still so it has shaky uptime. So what trinket do you use in place?
- Mists of Tirna Scithe, strong proc of secondary stats
Either the on-use or proc-based PvP trinket (note they lack of intellect baseline on the trinket will affect healing)
- Sire Denathrius, not an easy grab but has an on-demand instant heal you can easily charge up over time on a short cooldown.
- Kael'thas redemption boss, extremely powerful in situations it will be used where either you know your target will take lethal damage, or risk lethal damage, which happens a lot in M+ pugs and occasional raid encounters.
- Theatre of Pain, on-demand buff trinket with medium cooldown, good for burst healing
Anything that requires you to stand still, stack, or chase buffs to pick them up, will become increasingly difficult as you do more challenging content. The only good trinkets, are trinkets you will actually use though, so if you don't like activated trinkets because you forget to use them or don't like the extra button, get proc trinkets like the PvP and Mists trinket.
The heal is negligible but the buff kind of makes it like a healer version of the Ocarina
I'd be interested in knowing how this works in a raid. Does the player who picks it up grant the buff to their party or does it just by default buff whichever party the healer is in?
ilvl tested: 200 - Resto Druid (Total ilvl 212)
Procs more the bigger the fights are (more heals, in bigger fights in Mythic+ f.ex it procs almost too much at times)
Tested just now in Plaguefall +13 key
"Total uptime 7:04min (17%) So i guess the general uptime is somewhere around 15-20%
Versa increase delve is 62 for WHOLE GROUP
My stats increased damage done by 1.55% and damage reduced by 0.78% per player (For whole group this is 7.75%dmg increase. 3.9%dmg reduce)
When it procs the balls lay around for 10s and the buff lasts for 10s once picked up, The buff timer can never go above 10s no matter how many you pickup.
So when it procs, best is to pickup 1 ball, wait about 8 seconds then pickup another one. This will give you roughly 18s of buff time in total for one single proc (human reaction time etc is included)
The heal is called: "Renewed Life" and is pretty much exactly like delved, increased a little by your stats. It can also CRIT
The buff it gives:
(Note 100yd Range)
My Weakaura for the buff (so i easily know when to pickup the next orb)
