Can't find the info anywhere, just to make sure: Adding a socket in this way does give the item a corruption-value, right? Or is this just some "fluff"-text on the Eye?
Actually it's not the first time Wrathion offers us an extra socket.
Which is also an eye.
And isn't cheap..
It's probably not going to happen this way, but it'd be cool if it could socket on a shirt or tabard...
Anybody know if we're able to socket heirlooms? (Highly doubt it...)
So the text of the Gouged Eye of N'Zoth says, "Use: Twist latent corruption into a socket on equipment that does not already have a socket."
My question is, does this mean that if you use this item on a corrupted piece of gear it will consume the corruption to create the socket, thereby losing the corruption or the corrupted effect on the item? By this same token, does that mean this ONLY works on corrupted items?
My character is currently wearing Vile Manipulator's Handwraps.
Which, at present have +35 corruption.
But that corruption grants "Equip: Your spells and abilities have a chance to increase your Mastery by 915 for 10 sec."
Does using the Gouged Eye of N'Zoth remove the +35 or the Equip ability, or both? I would assume that if it removes one it will likely remove both.
OR does "latent corruption" refer to corruption just in the universe in general and has zero to do with the item in question? Meaning will my item be just as it was before the use of the Gouged Eye of N'Zoth (corrupted or not) and just now have a socket on it?
This is an extremely expensive mistake to potentially be making. I would hate to misunderstand how this item works, this could spawn a number of support tickets to Blizz.
So to make it clear I'm asking again:
Does it have to be an item with a corruption effect on it? Or does it work on any item (except azerite, already socketed and old stuff)?
According to a post by u/MLGVergil on Reddit.
You cannot socket the HoA necklance, Azerite pieces or Wrathion's cloak.
It is possible to socket any M+ or Ny'alotha raid items with this.
You can socket items without a corruption.
You can socket items with a corruption; they keep the corruption.
You can currently gain an extra socket on Lurking Schemer's Band BoE rings that come with a socket by default. (February 21st, 2020)
This might be an oversight.
able to be applied to Weapons as of 27/2. This might be a bug, but currently if you want to have a socketed weapon you have to loot one from bosses/whatever source.
Is it possible to buy and use multiple of these? Meaning can i socket all my gear this way?
to buy and use at least two
. I was wearing a ring that I socketed previously, and I was able to socket my other ring while wearing that too. So it is both possible to buy multiple
, socket at least two items and wear the socketed items at the same time.
I will update when I attempt to use it on a 3rd item.
Has anyone tried socketing a trinket? (that would make some trinket such as coral etc OP i know but im curious)
Hmmm.... can you use this on an Heirloom? To use it on the Dread Pirate ring with the +5% XP gem would be neat. :P
"Twist latent corruption into a socket on equipment that does not already have a socket."
...except items that you would like to actually like to, you know, put a socket on, such as:
The Hearth of Azeroth, and many other items lacking a socket you would like to put one on.
Ah wrathion, I see we have mastered the art of "not quite as advertised" while you were away.
The goblins would be pleased.
So I just bought one of these. I was able to use it on a trinket, the Vita-Charged Timeshard, ilvl 445. I first tried it on 3 pieces of gear that were ilvl 460 and it wouldn't let me. They didn't have corruption on them. I didn't try to see if my 445 pants that have corruption could be used with the socket.
Seems you cannot use these on heroic Darkshore gear (iLevel 460). Can't tell if this is intended or not as that gear can be corrupted via Preserved Contaminants.
The achivement isn't account wide -.-
Enjoy bfa =D
As per resets on 19/5 and 20/5, these can now effectively be farmed by spending 5000
(you need to start with 5750 and end with 750 if it goes correctly),
you have about 2.5 hours and you run Visions consistently with 5-masks (at about half hour per Vision).
This cost puts it on par with two rank 3 Essences and Corruptions worth 20-25 Corruption. Whether or not it's worth it depends entirely on your status of your Corruption and Essences. Someone that runs with a relatively solid Corruption setup may opt to buy Vessels with Echoes instead until all current gear is socketed, and then optimize Corruption further.
The to-do and calculation:
A 5-mask Visions gains ~5000
: ~2100 for mobs and chests, 2300 for the completion chests and 425 for the Crystals.
This means that it requires five full clears (25k/5k), so five
for a total of 8750
The five Visions will refund 750*5 = 3750
Under the line, one
spends 8750-3750 = 5000
Also cannot be added to the 8.3 crafted items, apparently. At least not the tailoring ones, haven't tried others yet.
Okay, so let me lay down what I know to help everyone out the best that I can.
What does this item do?
It allows you to put a Prismatic Socket on any item that does NOT already have a Prismatic socket on it.
How do you get it / are able to buy it?
You need to completely research all the Titan abilities on the dash-board next to MOTHER in the Heart of Azeroth Chamber.
Can I just research one level of the multi-level abilities?
NO! You need to COMPLETELY research everything, that includes getting all the 0/3 abilities ALL to level 3, no exceptions
Can this item only work on certain items?
From what I can tell, yes, it will ONLY work on items that
1) Do NOT already have a Prismatic Socket on them
2) Are NOT Azerite Armor. Azerite armor pieces apparently are not able to have this item used on them as of me submitting this comment on Aug/13/2020
Does the item I use this on have to be corrupted, because it says it "Twists the latent corruption"?
No, I was able to use it on a weapon that did not have corruption on it, so as far as I can tell, the only restrictions on items for it is what I previously mentioned
Hope this helps and provides insight into what it can and/or can not be currently used on!
Any information (i.e. has anyone tried in beta) if these will work on SL gear? I.e. if I buy one now and keep it for SL gear - there is no ilvl cap on it, but wondering if it will just give same error as now when trying to apply to non 8.3 gear
Currently does not work. At all. 100% broken as I can not add a socket to anything BfA. Even tried to jump in a timewalk, nope.
Not sure why it is even in the game at this point...
These might as well work on anything sub-BfA now. Players already go miles in length to get optimized for MT. For a speed set, combining a socketed
with one of these would create BiS boots as it can be enchanted with
