The reagents cost can be vary from 1500g to 3000g depends on server you playinng. Honestly, I would not pay that price for this mace. HOWEVER, this can be combined with "Eye of Sulfuron" to create "Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros" (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=17182) which I know people willing to pay 5000g for.

Mats for the epic mace are
8 Sulfuron Ingots - Drop off Golemagg the Incinerator in MC
20 Dark Iron Bars - Made from 8 Dark Iron ore which can only be smelted at the Dark forge in BRD near the MC attunment
50 Arcanite Bars
25 Essence of Fire
10 Blood of the Mountain - Rare drop out of Dark Iron Veins
10 Lava Core - Blue BoE drop in MC
10 Firey Core - Blue BoE drop in MC

You will need someone to craft the epic mace. This requires someone to be exualted with the Thorium Brotherhood. They can be any type of blacksmith to forge the hammer which must be done at the Black Anvil located in BRD at Lord Insindus.

This will eventaly creat a Legandy wepaon know as Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros once you get a Legendary Eye to drop from Ragnaros the last boss in MC

This item can be made from Blacksmiths but they have to obtain the recipe which can be accessed after doing a quest called A Binding Contract the quest can be found at http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=7604. After making this you can use this for making the Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros but only when you get the Eye of Sulfuras which drops from Ragnaros.

Upgraded to Hand of Rag or not, It's still a really nice weapon that you can use well into Outlands. But must people won't go for it because of it's... costly... mats.

correct Sulfuras itself is BoP, but you do not need to be a BS to create Sulfuras. As a non-BS you can loot the eye and pay a BS to craft this mace. when you 'use' the eye, Sulfuras is made.

I'm going to try to get the eye, but I sure as hell won't pay 5k gold for the mace :)

To anyone who wants to have this item for any reason, Sulfuron Ingots are about a 22% drop rate from Golemagg the Incinerator in Molten Core, and are rarely ever seen on the AH, at least on my server.

Sulfuron Ingot are the hardest items to obtain to craft just this hammer. They have about a 22% drop rate from Golemagg so it'll be a while before you can farm it unless you go more than once a week using alts or another method.

Blood of the Mountain can be easy/annoying depending on how you look at it. If you have patience just keep mining Dark Iron Deposits in Burning Steppes and you'll eventually get enough.

Essence of Fire are easy, if you farm the other mats you should just have enough when you have the harder mats such as the Sulfuron Ingot and Blood of the Mountain, if not AH is a good friend. If you really want to just get this then head to Un'goro Crater and farm the fire elementals at Fire Plumb Ridge (center of the map).

Lava Core/Fiery Core may be a pain for some. MC trash can be cleared with a few people so if you can go in with friends and clear all the trash you should get enough or just short in one run. If not clear the trash 2-3 times and you'll definitely have enough.

Arcanite Bar are easy, just farm a bunch of thorium veins. You should get some Arcane Crystals from the veins and if you don't have enough they should be cheap on your AH.

So overall everything is moderately easy except Sulfuron Ingot being the hardest, followed by Lava Core/Fiery Core, followed by Blood of the Mountain then the rest. Assuming you going for the achievement Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros which most are, the Eye of Sulfuras is the hardest without a doubt the hardest item to obtain. It drops from Ragnaros and has a 3-5% drop rate.

Just in case you were wondering, this version of the weapon does show it's enchant (unlike the legendary mace), after a while of experimenting I found that best looking one is probably Rune of Razorice, a DK runeforge enchant. Hope this helps to show your new weapon in best light until Raggy decides to hand over an Eye...
Would post a screenshot, but since I don't want to equip the mace until it's the legendary and Wowhead doesn't allow posting images from dressing room, I can't.

On my server, like at least 1 month ago, i saw that there was a sulfuron ingot for fricken 1k gold... if i wanted the legendary hammer, i would go farm my ass off for the ingots in MC

This must be forged at the Black Anvil, guarded by Lord Incendius in Blackrock Depths.

Also, be a little careful about getting someone to craft this for you. You'll be handing over a fair chunk of valuable goods, requiring eleven bag slots if I remember. I'd say it's almost worth getting the 9th Sulfuron Ingot just to ensure that a friend can get the recipe and craft it for you, rather than depend on a random person.

Ok so I just got this today And im going to offer some advice straight forth So you wont get your hopes up about getting this weapon...Unless you have a hell of lotta gold to spend forget it. Unless you have Multiple friends that have diffrent mats to give to you for free ..forget it..Unless you are a guild leader or have alot of friends forget it....Unless you just inhertid 3000g from a buddy of mine who quit( like me) forget it...Unless your just plain rich forget it..Ok now we got the basics out the way, First youll find that Moltencore raids are the easist way to obtain Most of the mats.
item number 1 that needs colleting: Dark iron bars-this is a good thing to start out with because youll find that even on expensive servers you can find these for mabye 50g at most.first youll need to buy some dark iron ore off AH of have a miner go to BRD and farm the Deposites there and in Moltencore..good youll need 20 bars which equals around 160 ore easy right? ok now that you go that out the way ..
item number 2 that need collecting: Essence of fire : Youll find this the easiest simpley check ah buy all on ah and check GB that should at least supply close to enough...Otherwise kill trash in mc need around 2 80s 1 healer 1 tank and a ? you whatever level you decide to farm this for
item number 3 that needs collecting: Arcanite bars : this might be a problem but IF you have a goood friend that knows how to make them they propse no problem Just buy mats off ah and give them to friend or Make them yourself ether way your going to need a Achlmist , and 50 of these little buggers no problem right ok now moving on to ricket stuff.
Lava/fiery cores - As ive said in the past Do mc.. just do trash and kill mobs tell your group or friends you need these usally 10 of each drop per run if your lucky sometimes more so they Pose no threat however getting your raidies to pass might pose a problem
Blood of the moutains- wow what can i say for these Jewels...they were so rare i almost had a heart attack every time isee them, youll find 3 or so off ah but after that your going to need a Miner to Farm ore around blackrock moutain..btw its a 1% or so drop off ore and trash mobs in mc this is one of the harder ones trust me youll be happy to get this over with..now we have come to final item on the list
SUlfron ingots- well youve collected all the mats but this by now your problly saying hey this is easy i can get the rest of mats wrong....Your going to A: run Mc 1 time a week per week and Get lucky and get an ignot every time off golemag that has a 22% chance to drop one meaning your going to do rougly 32 run to gurentee that youll have 8 and thats just a percentage ...you could do 40 runs and never see a ringot but hey thats life....path B: i mostly spammed trade nd bought each ingot over a span of 4 months for 400g per 1 which is hey 3200g this path is for the rich but hey you gotta Do one path or the other.....

Thanks for your tips man. Just to let ya all know, on lightnings blade(a pvp server) i was able to find a /script DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("\124cffa335ee\124Hitem:17193:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:0\124h\124h\124r"); in a horde action house for 700g. this was wotlk tho. anyway, it dont cost 5k anymore

I made this mace on Malfurion buying most mats. Cost about 4k total, blood of the mountain was very hard to find and I ended up having to get it from a horde guy.

back in pre-bc this was HARD to obtain.... u can't speak how easy it is now when u're lvl 80, u can 5man Ragnaros.... and back then u needed 40 man and only one man could loot Eye of Sulfuras.......

On my realm the materials are worth upwards of 8,000g. To anyone wanting this weapon that badly, I honestly recommend you powerlevel Blacksmithing on an alt (or on your main, doesn't matter) and get the plans yourself.

The plans are not easy to get themselves but if you're dedicated to getting the hammer then you best consider powerleveling Blacksmithing rather than risk handing over the materials to someone who will then sell them on the AH for a damn large amount of money.

Alternatively, find a real-life friend who plays WoW that has a blacksmither and get them to make it. The risks still there but kicking exists in real-life! And it hurts! *laughs maniacally*

I'm contemplating having one of these made for my Worgen Warrior in the future.
Even if MC is gone do you think it would be cool to have a new character with a discontinued weapon. Would it even be worth it?
Or should I make one to sell to someone after Cata that has a Eye and wants the epic, resell it for a insanely high price

Note that the materials for this are ridiculously expensive, as other people have said upthread, and yet the Sulfuron Hammer itself is not that good at all. Ragnaros drops two two-handed weapons that are much better than this and three other two-handed weapons drop elsewhere in MC that are sidegrades to this - maybe a little better or maybe a little worse, depending on your class and spec, but definitely not so much better than this that they are worth the huge cost of the mats. And even if you don't care about item quality, like most people who are trying to get Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros for the Feat of Strength or the mere cachet, the drop rather on the Eye of Sulfuras is so low that it could easily take years to get.

So it's probably not smart to buy all the mats to make this unless you have already got the Eye of Sulfuras and need only this to make the legendary hammer.

just sold one to someone else on my server for 35,000k he has had the eye for 2 years but didn't want to farm MC for the matts, but had gold to burn. I'll go farm more mats for myself lol, Its been a year and half since i started farming MC and still dont have the eye, so im sure with my luck i can farm up another mace

Using Wowheads prices + some exp of my own I will put a price for the hammer with pure AH farm.
8x580g 萨弗隆铁锭, 20x17.42g 黑铁锭, 50x15.38g 奥金锭, 25x1.18g 火焰精华, 10x575g 山脉之血, 10x10.65g 熔岩之核, 10x12.95g 炽热之核.
Sum: ~~11643,85g~~ 11772,9G for mats alone, next is to find a BS with the plans :)
Note: Blood of the Mountain is not 500g (about 350 is correct) according to wowhead but I have never seen any of those going for 350g on the AH, they are more likely to go above 500 but I might just have bumped into some expensive auctioneers.
Lesson: Don't try get this if you can't handle the cost or dedication it takes to get. I hate Blood of the mountain today by all my heart and will never again try get some, they have to jump into my pockets.
I have seen 萨弗隆战锤 on the AH: Horde, EU server: Ravencrest and Ahn'Qiraj for around 20'000-30'000G buyout. It's my experience and the I only gave a small picture of what ppl might try and charge for this thing.

MAts alone if u can even find them in the AH range from 600-1000g per ingot
500-1100g per Blood of the Mountain.
all the rest are easy to come by but the raw mats alone are easy 15k - 20k

I'm currently gathering the mats for this now. In case you can't figure it out, the complete mats are:

8 Sulfuron Ingots
20 Dark Iron Bars = 160 ore
50 Arcanite Bars = 50 thorium ore/bars + 50 Arcane Crystals
25 Essence of Fire
10 Blood of the Mountain
10 Lava Cores
10 Fiery Cores

If you choose to smelt the Dark Iron yourself (assuming you can't already), then you'll need:

20 Gold Bars/ore
10 Truesilver Bars/ore
2 Star Rubies

to learn how to smelt it in BRD.

You'll also need to tip the Blacksmith that makes it, which is generally the price of a Sulfuron Ingot, so I'd ask them if they'd like the plans instead of a tip.

This item can only be made at "The Black Anvil", which is in Blackrock Depths (don't forget your BS hammer when you go). Lord Incendius (lvl 53 boss) circles it, so you'll need to kill him before you can craft it. If the instance hasn't been disturbed, you should be able to access it without having to kill too much trash. After you enter the instance, turn left (north) and go thru first gate (you need the key). Continue straight (north) till you reach the Dark Iron Hwy. Turn right (east) and go thru giant doors (If you see Bael'gar, you turned left. Turn around and go other way). After passing thru the big doors, stay straight (in a northeasterly direction) in the center of the road, and if you are a high enough level, you won't aggro any of the fire elementals on either side. Lord Incendius will be dead ahead a few hundred yards (well, "dead" after you kill him...). Now "The Black Anvil" is clear-make your hammer and have fun!

I would guess the main way that it would be possible to sell it for that price tag is due to the gold cap currently being 999k.

If you're having difficulty getting the 10 Blood of the Mountains for the hammer from the AH, a couple good options are:

1) Molten Destroyer mobs in MC, soft reset, rinse & repeat
2) Get a mining alt or buddy for Dark Iron ore mining in MC or BRD

some people may want the sense of true accomplishment by farming the mats them self and then getting it crafted or crafting it on their alts.

山脉之血 is actually rather easy to get if one has a little patience. The 熔核摧毁者 are in an easily accessible part of MC and respawn - from my experiences even once Golemagg is down. So all one needs to do is come back every couple hours or so and kill all of them (the 熔核巨人 apart from the ones at the bridge as well since they share spawn points with destroyers).

In fact, once I'd put it into my head to collect the materials for the hammer, it took me a bit more than a week of repeat visits (logged out in MC itself) to get all the blood (and 3 more for the auction house).

Found a way to effectivly farm 黑铁矿石 and even apart from running MC.

Blackrock Dephts has around 5 Deposits at the very beginning of the instance.

Step 1: The spots
Spots where you must look:
1: The path where 贝尔加 is
2: Detention block (just the path around it)
3: The path around the arena
4: There is usually another deposit in the Hall of crafting.
Beyond Hall of crafting there are nearly no deposits (at least i didnt find any in the runs that i came there)

Optional:
Found a deposit next to the Dark Forge where you smelt 黑铁矿石 into 黑铁锭

Step 2: Go out, reset & repeat

Step 3: ?

Step 4: Profit

As on Auchidoun-EU the prices for Dark Iron bars (and ores) and Blood of the Mountain are skyhigh i prefer to mine it myself to save myself a few k's of gold

dark iron ore only dropped on my miner and blood of mountain only on my jewelcrafter. maybe there is a heighter chance to get this if you have the significant jobs on skill 300. can somebody confirm this?

dropped the last sulfuron ingot yesterday with my shadowpriest, fought myself through BRD on my lvl 62 fury warrior (#$%^ was hard to get the boss down all by myself with only 1 healing potion and crappy gear. my heirloom weapons for my enhancement shaman, both enchanted with crusader, made it possible in the end) and finaly obtained the sulfuron hammer :D now waitng for an epic moment to show my friends what happens if you have the eye and the hammer :3

Apparently you need to be able to EQUIP two-handed weapons in order to get the Feat of Strength.
I - as a rogue - got the hammer today, but no FOS.

I guess this would be the only logic solution for a lot of people - not for me... So for all classes out there, who can't equip two handed maces, don't waste your time and money of this FOS!

The Sulfurion Hammer requires you to have 1 to receive the recipe and then the following reagents to construct it.

8x 33% Drop Chance from 焚化者古雷曼格 (that's 9 total with the recipe)
20x Requires 8 (160 total) each, Mined from Dark Iron Deposits in the Molten Core
50x Requires 1 made from 1 and 1 which are also mined with Thoium Ore.
25x Frequent drop in the Molten Core, can also be Transmuted from
10x Low drop from Molten Destoyers and very low drop from 黑铁矿脉
10x Average drop from most enemies in the Molten Core
10x Average drop from most enemies in the Molten Core

So regardless of how fast you are able to farm the rest of the materials, the fastest you can finish this objective would be 8 weeks due to needing the 8 Sulfurion Ingots which only drop from Golemagg the Incinerator. With the very low drop rate however it may take several months to complete this.

Both the Dark Iron Bars and the Arcanite Bars should be fairly easy to reach while you are working on this, however due to space constraints I would suggest holding off on completing any other aspect of this achievement until after you have at least 6 of the Sulfurion Ingots. The only exception this this would be the Blood of the Mountains, which, due to their low drop rate, may be useful to save early.

All list below happend on Eitrigg realm.

Still waiting for the EYE, and this is arguably the most difficult item to acquire.

For the Sulfuron Hammer materials many complain about the Blood of the Mountain to be difficult to obtain and somebody spends months to acquire necessary amount (10 of those) to make the hammer.

Well I spent 3 days to find those bloods (also including the rest of the materials).

It seams that not many people know but Molten Destroyers re-spawn after defeating the raid. the only mobs which does not re-spawn are patrolling Core Hounds and obviously the bosses and associated adds.

The re-spawn timer i don't know but I think is about an hour or so.

Anyways I was running the MC after the raid defeat every day (3 or 4 times per day) only for the Destroyers and sure enough I got some Bloods out of it. Not every run brought Bloods but lets say every 3 or 4 runs brought one (once I got 2). Also Running Blackrock Depths for Dark Iron nodes helps.

This is what i got after 3 days of intensive mining, farming the Destroyers and AH camping:

5 from the Destroyers,
3 from AH camping 1500G average price,
2 from Dark Iron Nodes one from the Raid Node (those do not re-spawn after defeating the raid unfortunately, those you find at first run those are what you get for the week) and one from the Blackrock Depths dungeon nodes.

Obviously if you don't have gold to do AH camping you could just continue to farm the Destroyers and mining BrD which will increase your blood farming time to about a week max.

Rest of Materials are easy and cheap enough to get even Sulfuron Ingots (got 2 my self during Tuesday double MC run, waiting for raid to reset and than running it again) and rest off AH for average price 700G, there were 15 listed in AH that day so i suspect that there is a fair amount of them listed in AH at any time to not have problems with it.

The rest of stuff, Dark iron Ingots you will get by mining the Nodes and smelting those on the same run,

Arcanite Bars from AH or if you have a alt or friend with Alchemy you can make those yourself (Transmutation mastery help a lot obviously), materials for it you get in Silithus mining the Thorium nodes there (or Blasted lands).

Essence of Fire is dirt cheap in AH (at least on Eitrigg).

Cores you get anyways during MC run and during farming the Destroyers for the bloods and you will probably have an overflow of those (cores) to sell in AH or turn them in for Thorium brotherhood reputation grind in Grim Guzzler (why Thorium Brotherhood reputation? because they have some cool transmog plans for blacksmiths you want to put your hands on, those items sell well in AH too) .

Just so as everyone who wants to make this is aware: you can only craft the hammer at the black anvil in BRD (stated previously) and it is a 25 second cast. I figured all of you were burning with curiousity at how long it would take to hammer the thing out.

Hello everyone. As of 7.1 patch now this hammer can be transmogged, but I have a question: Can I unlock the skin by equipping it and then use it to make the Sulfuras or do I have to make two different hammers, one for transmogrification and the other for the sulfuras? My question is: does the equipment being no more BOE make a difference? Or do I get the skin either way, even If I use it for the Sulfuras without equipping it?

Since 7.2 this hammer has been added into the wardrobe if you have the legendary, but not this epic version anymore. This made me very happy as I kept the eye and epic hammer for a long time in my bank, hoping they will make the hammer transmoggable again until one day I said "screw it, I want the achievement". So I made the legendary out of them and efectivelly got rid of the epic hammer.

When I think about it though, I can't confirm though if the achievement is enough or you need po posses the actual legendary in order to get this hammer into the wardrobe. I myself have got the legendary in the bank.
