The rares who drop these mounts only yield loot for you once per day. I have created a macro to track whether they have been killed by you during this reset:

The macro tracks the following rares (since they are all the mount dropping rares added in 8.2):

蜘蛛收割者 who drops 生锈的机械爬蛛 found in 麦卡贡 at 52.0 41.4
Note: there is some speculation this can drop from several things in Mechagon
锈羽 who drops 锈废漂移者的锈蚀钥匙 found in 麦卡贡 at 65.9 78.2
无声者 who drops 喑声翔渊者 found in 纳沙塔尔 at around 57.6 51.3
Note: this rare has multiple reports of differing spawn locations within the Coral Forest

Just got this from the arachnoid harvester(regular timeline) after 186 attempts on my alt who had not done the intro to mechagon yet. i saw 3 drops before my own, 2 in raid groups and 1 for a random player who tagged outside the group. good luck to the rest of you :)

I've killed harvester around 6 or 7 times since the patch release. Approximately. Might be more or less. Got the mount after my second kill. 2 days ago my husband was killing it in the alternate time line and asked me to help. We were grouped. The mount dropped for me AGAIN and I then realized the mount is soulbound and not tradable to a party member even if they were eligible to loot. After a very salty mumble from my dearest sweetest husband I made a ticket in hopes a GM could please do ME the favor of stopping the moaning and take the mount out of my bag and give it to him. No response yet. DON'T make the same mistake I made, you CANNOT trade said crawler.

Just got mine yesterday! I've only killed the rare about 15-20 times. When it dropped for me i was dumbfounded, seeing as this mount has the lowest drop % off all three and rust nor soundless have dropped their mount for me yet.

Saw a weird bug today, where this mount was being ridden and showed as a rare spawn.

not wanting to brag but just started Mechagon and happened to be round questing with the harvester popped and i got it first go. Cant believe it. Ive played for 14 years and never been so lucky haha. Gnarly mount too. Good luck!

I got the mount last week, but not from killing Arachnoid Harvester ( I had roughly 2000 kills), therefore it dropped for me when I was doing Reclamation Rig event on hard mode ( I personally think that mode does not affect the drop chance). There is 1 more report of getting that mount in Rig event but not in this comment section. Hope that I helped, it looks that this mount can be looted from anything in Mechagon.

Got it after my first try killing the rare lol. At first i was like oh a mount cool. Than i was like let me search it to see how rare it is out of curiosity just to find out that its pretty damn rare which makes it cooler.But to be honest i never really get lucky like this so ill take it lol

Got this mount on the first week when Mechagon Island was released. Killed it probs 6-7 times and it dropped. My friend also plays the game and he showed me that the Rarity addon had a 1-500 drop rate for this mount. I think it’s a ridiculously low drop chance for a mount that is only a reskin from a easy to get achievement. In comparison the drift junkdrifter from the achievement is way more difficult to get compared to Rustfeather mount which I actually still don’t have. So what I mean to say is the rustfeather mount should have been 1-500 and the Archanoid Harvester mount 1-200.

Farm this over 14 characters for 37 days, 518 attempts. 5-7 hours per day of watching netflix while leaving my wow running in the background with rarescanner. Got it today on my paladin. Junkyard drifter was 4-5 days of attempt. Never expected this mount to take so long until I looked up the comments here.

Keep trying guys, it will drop sooner or later.

Well, Im at 1190 kills and no mount still.
I wonder if this mount is actually a case of mass hysteria and it doesnt actually exist.
All people who have seen it actually saw is the quest one from mechagon during junkwatt depot's rain.
Its just a social experiment conducted by blizzard to see if people will farm a rare that doesnt actually drop a mount. To see how much they can control and influence us.

Level 45 is required to loot rare bosses. The Mechanized Chests require level 50 to loot.

Dropped 10 min before server restart EU realms! Soloed as a bear druid lvl 50 , with 105 ilvl, no azerite traits etc.

Looted it today on a level 45 character (110 before squish). Couldn't learn it before I hit level 50.

Was killing it on characters between level 40 and 60, and was getting blueprints on all of them. I would assume it could drop for 40+, but I can only confirm 45+ as that's where it dropped for me.

Just got this on my first kill ever! In fact, first visit to Mechagon!
Didn't even know it dropped - didn't even know it existed.

I merely stumbled upon some Alliance killing it.
I killed them then the spider or whatever dropped it.

Wasn't until I got back to Org checking my bags that I saw it and looked it up.

Got this today after 575 attempts, estimating 20 minutes wait per kill that's over 188 hours getting balder waiting for this PoS to spawn. I know some have had it worse, god have mercy on them. Looks okay but felt quite underwhelming actually getting it... just a relief really. PS im not asmongold

A nearly 10month farm is over (I skipped BFA). Averaged 15-20kills a week (1-4 alts, depending on laziness). Too lazy to math but every alt ended up with Cogstars teleport long ago just to expedite this farm.

However - the bit I wanted to share for expediting the farm. I got this on a multi-tag (2 characters - dies way too quick for more these days). I rotated login's within the 1minute body-loot window (before it goes to mail for offline characters). In this case where it dropped - Character 1 tagged, kill/launch client, character 2 tagged and looted (no mount), kill/launch client and character 1 had the mount on the body.

For the sake of confirmation, it just dropped for me at 357 tries. Normal time, no Mechagon quests done, level 60 Pandaren.

This mount seems to project a strange icon on the minimap when used. As I flew back to base to turn in my dailies, I spotted what looked like a metal rivet on the minimap slowly moving on the road below. I went down to ground level to see what it was and it turned out to be someone riding this mount.

As of 9.2 this mount can fly in a star wars x-wing like animation. :)

Just received the Rusty Mechanocrawler on my first ever kill of the Arachnoid Harvester. Didn't realize how rare it was until I came to Wowhead and saw the drop chance and people attempting the mount hundreds of times. Killed an Alliance monk and stole aggro at 20% health left on the Spider. Looted and triple linked the mount in /say when he rezzed. Then he tried to kill me... Sorry Alliance monk! D:

Probably a coincidence but I just got the mount on the same day as patch 9.2.5 got released.
I got it on the 3rd attempt on patch day and I had around 200 attempts before.

I started farming like 2 months ago with 6-9 chars, but not everyday excluding weekends.

It dropped today after 303 kills. :)

Still farming Rustfeather for Junkheap Drifter though.
