In the past, there was always a rumor circulating that you could get blues and epics if you opened this near a boss, the rumor being that the loot you get is generated based upon surrounding mobs loot tables. However this has been confirmed to be false by many people attempting to open it in raids while in combat with bosses. I'm surprised though that it has never even yielded a blue, hardly worth 8g these days in my opinion...

The Bag is available in limited quantities, so if you or another player have purchased one recently it will not appear.

It is still worth 8 gold. Twice now I have been in the area near him and seen a yell emote from him saying "You won't find better prices anywhere!" and "Commerce, ____ ____ ____ ____" Dont remember what that one was. Both times after that I ran to him and saw that the grab bag was spawned.

As of 12 Jan 2011, this "deal" now drops a ilvl 42 item which disenchants into Dream dust. This drop has been matched to the new zone level of EPL in Cata. Do not buy this in hopes of getting good enchanting mats.

(I got 1 dream dust for my 8g...the dust being worth about 20s on Shadow Council server...what a deal! /sigh)

With Transmogrification now in the game, this grab bag is once again worth the 8g. The chance to get a valuable transmog item is fairly small, considering how many other things there are, but a lot of the greens in this level are fairly good looking, and to transmoggers, could be worth 100g or even more in some cases.

Worth the chance, I say. Especially with how easy gold is to come by nowadays.
