I offer 40 p rubies for each SoJ!
I'm almost wondering if there will be a special vendor for the Diablo anniversary that sells stuff for Stones of Jordan...
That or maybe these will have some turn-in purpose for equipment.
Regardless, I'm certainly interested to see what use these will have!
For anyone wondering, back in Diablo 2 the
Stone of Jordan
'Unique' ring was used as an alternate currency by players on battle.net.
Before patch 1.09 this ring was a popular form of currency: it was rare enough to be of value and small enough to be portable, so several rings could be easily traded for a high end item. It was also easy to duplicate, so at one point the ring not only depreciated in value to near worthlessness, it would also tend to vanish when the servers scanned an exiting character for duplicates.
Im callin it now, if you sell enough of these to a vendor of some sorts, a world boss will walk the earth....
Edit: its gonna be realm wide, with notifications everytime one is sold
When enough have been sold, boss will pop
Considering how high item levels have become in World of Warcraft, I have to wonder why the tooltip says item level 66 instead of item level 666.
anyone found this? what does it do?
Let's try something different, I predict this stone drops from
was data mined before the launch of The Diablo 20th Anniversary Celebration in Warcraft. But we're now more then 24 hours into the event with no sign of it. While the other data mined items have been confirmed to drop there is no record of this making an appearance. Bear in mind that the event is quite short only lasting trough January 11th. It seams unlikely for the item to make a last minute appearance as it is completely useless after the event is over. So most likely this item will not be implemented on live servers. I could of course be mistaken, and in a couple of days we will know for sure.
The Stone of Jordan
is a reference to the infamous ring of the same name. In Diablo 2, this ring was used as a type of currency.
The item in its current form is in fact not a ring.
It stacks to 200 indicating that the idea might have been to use it as some type of currency.
It has an exceptionally low item level of only 66.
The icon for the item is unique and was created specifically for this item.
It requires Diablo 20th Anniversary meaning it is useless after the event.
Link to the event.
I really don't want to share this.. but I may of found a lead on the Ring of Jordan. If you run to Raven Hill there are multiple level 110 mobs and a quest mob in the Inn with books flying around. I tried killing him, it didn't drop.. but I ran out of time. After 5M you get ported out.. we need everyone here to go exploring in Duskwood with the buff and kill everything you can.
Screenshot of me after killing the dude in the Inn.
Seems it is an abandoned item that the devs didn't have time to implement. Pity.
I have yet to encounter someone in game that has looted this from either a Treasure Goblin or the Cow King. Looks like they decided to ax this idea, which is a fun parallel to the state of D3 in general.
Looted x4 of these on PTR on Jan 30th from a Wrymtongue Hoarder. Haven't found a reason for them yet.
I just encountered this on the Patch 7.2 PTR. Flying over the northern end of Azsuna I came across a
rare. It dropped two stones of Jordan, which say nothing more than the text given in the info box on this page, i.e. that they require the (now past) Diablo Anniversary. As a result I can't see any use for them. Very odd.
<Wandering Trainer>, makes a reference to this item in dialogue while you battle her pets in the garrison, during her occasional visits.
Nice little touch from Blizzard;
Squirt says: I'll sell ya a Stone of Jordan if you promise not to do that again.
