s in Silithus have about the highest drop rate for
and they are plentiful there. In the same place are many of the
s who drop a lot of
which is common in the same tailoring recipes.
For players not in the 50's and want the Ironweb Spider Silk you can farm the Searing Lava Spider (45-47) and the Greater Lava Spider (47-49) found in the Searing Gorge.
The first time you use the Ironweb Spider Silk is for tailoring at the 260 skill level to make:
I personally have had more luck with the Rock Stalkers in Sillithus than any other spider. In 1hr of grinding I got 14 Ironweb Silk, 31 Thick Spider's Silk and 23 Shadow Silk. And yes I have tried all the other areas / spiders.
I find the best place to farm this is in LBRS. The spiders around smolderweb seem to drop a lot of them. I think I averaged about 10 per run. At level 70 you can almost walk to them without stealth and they are not too hard to solo. I've stealthed to them on my druid and walked to them on the pally and was able to solo them easily. I wasn't looking for this silk, I was there for other things, but there was a high drop rate.
If you're Honored with Argent Dawn you can get their First Aid Powerful Anti-Venom spell. It makes it grinding spiders a lot easier for Rogues. I didn't get Honored until a few days before I moved over to Outlands and the Anti-Venom is only good up to mobs <= lvl 60 but I still come back to farm spiders so I'm still getting use out of the Anti-Venom.
If you're a Rogue even if you're following something like Joana's leveling guide or Tekkubs TourGuide I suggest that once you hit lvl 50 you take a break and grind some rep with Argent Dawn to get their Powerful Anti-Venom spell. I hate getting poisoned -- I can't stealth when I am.
the best place to grind these. The droprate is slightly lower (10% instead of 13%), but you kill the mobs by the dozen, and you'll sometimes even get 2 ironweb silks on a single mob.
Just as a quick guide :
Get in LBRS
Walk up the stairs and turn right, jump to the platform with the 4 guys and 2 worgs, go in through the corridor there, then as soon as you're out and facing another pack of mobs in a large open space, go right and jump down to the ledge along the wall. Keep going down till you're next to the mass of humanoids down there, then go right towards the spider area. Clear, loot, keep going up after the spider area towards the pack of ogres. Right before you reach them, jump down on the right and go straight, you'll be able to get back up, reset, and restart.
You should get around 5 silks per clear, 10 minutes per clear.
Hope that was clear enough :p
PS : Plenty of runecloth on all the humanoids there as well.
Did this on level 80 Enchancement Shaman.
Decided to farm 100 sand skitters each round to see how many you could get per 100 and how long it would take.
Round 1: 4:20pm-5:00pm
Ironweb Spider Silk: 19
Shadow Silk: 18
Thick Spider's Silk: 8
Round 2: 5:05-5:50pm
Ironweb Spider SIlk: 17
Shadow Silk: 13
Thick Spider's Silk: 16
Round 3: 6:00-6:50pm
Ironweb Spider Silk: 12
Shadow Silk: 20
Thick Spider's Silk: 10
Ironweb Spider Silk: 48
Shadow Silk: 51
Thick Spider's Silk: 34
Also got 169 White Spider's Meat.
This is about what you can expect for farming 300 Sand Skitters in about 2 and half hours approximately at level 80.
I got 4 Ironweb Spider Silk in 20 mins of farming The Sand Skitterers.
lbrs is good; a single run netted 9 iron, 3 silk and 5 thick. will have more than enough in no time at all.
These are farmable off
Deadwind Pass is now a fairly good spot to farm for this web, as it is filled with
) mobs. They drop Ironweb Spider's Silk at a not-too-terrible (compared to the other mobs) rate, and are tightly clustered together. Silithus and LBRS may be the best choices, but due to the clustering and the large number of mobs, this is solidly viable for web-farming, particularly for those who are too low of level to handle LBRS-farming.
As a level 80 feral druid and having tried lbrs and deadwind pass I have to say that lbrs is far better. I got around 5-7 ironweb per run of the spiders in lbrs while I didn't get any drops of it in deadwind pass.
Level 85 Enhance Shaman. Went to Silithus to try the Spiders out there that are mentioned below. Killed about 40 in 10ish minutes. That Yielded None. Went to try LBRS (Lower Blackrock Spire) next thinking that because it is an instance and the mobs are more grouped up that i would have a better chance (That and people suggested it) Went in took the little drop down method went straight for the spiders in 5min there i got 11 Ironweb Spider Silk. LBRS is your best bet. Dont go anywhere else.
I tried both LBRS and Sithilus and LBRS is a way more efficient way of getting Ironweb Spider Silk. Brachamal's directions gave me a good start but are a little confusing so I'll try to clarify the easiest way I found to get to the spiders and the instance. If you're like me and havent played from Vanilla getting into LBRS can be a little confusing.
Take the Flamestar FP in Burning Steppes to get to Blackrock Mountain. Once you enter Blackrock Mountain, you'll hit a circular path which you want to take to the right until you see a broken gate and walk through there. You'll go down a one way path through hallways with mobs and will continue to climb up as ramps take you vertically up through the mountain. Once out of the hallways you will hit a dead end where you can only go right or left, go right. This takes you to the instance entrance.
Now that you're in the instance, you have a couple of choices. If you're trying to farm Runecloth, kill everything you can as this whole instance is loaded. If you just want the Ironweb Spider Silk, you can just avoid mobs and if you're high enough level you wont aggro them and even if you do, just AOE them down.
After entering the instance, you're going to enter a large room and in front of you will be a platform with 2 staircases, one on the left and one on the right. Go to the right staircase and there will be a doorway on your right. Walk through the door and you'll be standing on a crumbled ledge, fall down and go left through the door past the worgs and Scarshield mobs. This will take you down a hallway where you enter another platform with mobs in from of you.
If you want Runecloth go straight and it will take you in a loop where you will eventually come to a thin ledge. At this point you'll jump down or find another way down to the bottom floor. If you're only looking for the Ironweb Spider silk, jump into the lava to the right of the platform and you'll see a ramp allowing you to walk out of the lava. After you get out of the hallway, go right and follow the path around where you'll see a purple lit hallway with some mobs standing there.
Go down this hallway and you'll see the spiders. You'll get between 6 and 9 Ironweb Silk per run from clearing the hallways with spiders (YMMV). You can hearth, port out, or walk out and reset the instance and rinse and repeat. You can probably run this in less than 5 minutes which is kind of nice.
Just wanted to confirm for patch 7.3.5, that LBRS spiders (
for map location) still drop a fair amount of Ironweb Spider Silk.
This is what I got each time I cleared Skitterweb Tunnels:
8 Ironweb Spider Silk
, 6 Shadowsilk, 1 Thick Spider's Silk, 12 White Spider Meat, 50 Immature Spider Sac, 1 Thorium Lockbox
2 Ironweb Spider Silk
, 4 Shadowsilk, 1 Thick Spider's Silk, 17 White Spider Meat, 50 Immature Spider Sac
5 Ironweb Spider Silk
, 5 Shadowsilk, 1 Thick Spider's Silk, 10 White Spider Meat, 35 Immature Spider Sac
6 Ironweb Spider Silk
, 5 Shadowsilk, 3 Thick Spider's Silk, 19 White Spider Meat, 48 Immature Spider Sac, 2 Thorium Lockboxes
8 Ironweb Spider Silk
, 5 Shadowsilk, 4 Thick Spider's Silk, 13 White Spider Meat, 20 Immature Spider Sac
Each run can take about 5 minutes if you know where you are going. Each run took me about 10 because I kept getting lost. lol.
Side note: Amassed 384 Runecloth just by killing mobs on my way to and from the Tunnels.
Good luck to all!
Went to Deadwind pass today and found
like was said. If you go to a spot in the pass called "The Vice", there are two Ogre camps direct across from each other. Right side camp has (3)
and the one on the left spawns (4)
. They will near instantly respawn for a bit when killing them and then after awhile, it will take a few minutes for them to respawn. This goes in cycles. For me, it bears LBRS, since you don't have to keep reseting an instance or making a run for it. Just run back and forth a few steps between the two camps. I got 14 Ironweb Spider Silk in about 16 minutes.
