UPDATE #1: This weapon will be available for sale from the
vendor, and will be BoA. This will allow those without early access to
to be able to obtain it, and add the transmog appearance to their collection come Legion.
UPDATE #2: All invasion armor is now base item level 700, with a
to be Warforged to item level 705, 710, 715, or even 720!
This weapon is one of many that can be obtained from invasion scenarios in the Legion pre-launch event.
The weapons can be obtained from the
(from the 2nd stage of an invasion) or from
(from the 4th stage of an invasion). This is NOT a guaranteed drop, but a chance to be found in these chests.
This weapon will be item level 700, but can be upgraded to a maximum of 725 with
This upgrade item will be sold by
, who can be found in the Illidari camps in Orgrimmar and Stormwind. The sell price will be 150
Note that each
will upgrade a weapon by
5 item levels
. This means you will need a total of FIVE
to upgrade your weapon from ilvl 700 to 725 (at a total cost of 750
All invasion weapons will be Bind-On-Pickup, except for
, which will be Bind-On-Account.
The weapons will drop based on loot specialization - therefore only certain weapons will drop for a specific character.
When are the invasions coming?
The Legion invasions (and
early access) arrived August 9, 2016 (US) and August 10, 2016 (EU). The will continue until August 30, 2016 when Legion launches, and will progressively become more frequent until that point.
Below is a complete list of the invasion-exclusive weapons that can be found in the
. Some of them have very unique models! Also listed in the chart is which loot specializations these weapons will drop for.

Wowhead has made a video outlining all of the weapon models -
see it here
The order of weapons shown is
: 2H Sword, Dagger (0:15), 1H Axes (0:29), 1H Maces (1:25), 1H Swords (1:57), Polearm (2:24), Staves (2:39), 2H Mace (3:12), Bow (3:24), Wand (3:40), Warglaive (3:54).
of these models are for weapon variations that were not ultimately implemented.
There will be 6 different invasion events during the pre-launch patch. After the invasions start, they will become more and more frequent as we get closer to the launch of the expansion (August 30, 2016).
Each invasion is a scenario entered by anyone that moves into the invasion area, and has 4 stages. There is a progress bar for Stages 1 and 3 which is zone-wide - you will see how close you are to the next stage. Stage 2 and 4 have boss objectives, and completing these will complete the stage.
Note that the invasion instance you enter may already be in progress, with potentially a stage or stages completed already.
The stages are below:
- Defend against a general invasion point (e.g. Orgrimmar Rear Gate). Mobs are fairly trivial in nature, although numerous.
- Defeat two lieutenants and a commander. The commander spawns after the lieutenants are killed. These bosses hit pretty hard, so DPS and healers have to watch threat.
- Defeat the invading forces marked on the map - a zone-wide objective, with various activities that will advance the progress bar:
There are mobs to kill, of various sizes and strengths. These can be found at invasion points, marked on the map.
There are protected "Legion Structures" also marked on the map. You must kill the mobs protecting the structures; doing so will make the
s attackable. When the crystals are destroyed, the structure collapses.
There are various mini bosses scattered around the zone during this phase. These hit pretty hard, so ideally they need to be tanked or kited. These mini bosses often drop
s, so it's worthwhile helping to kill them! They are marked on the map with skulls.
- Defeat a boss NPC at the original invasion point (requires a group). These bosses hit VERY hard and have some abilities that will kill you if you do not avoid them (e.g. breath mechanics - make sure to stand behind the boss!)
Some other miscellaneous notes:
Zones that have active invasions are marked very clearly on the world map. Note that only zones in Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms are involved.
Mousing over the invasion icon will show you a timer, indicating how much time is left in the invasion, so that you can get there.
Entering a zone with an active invasion will put you into a scenario instance. There will be multiple instances going on at one time, so arriving at any point
while the invasion is active
will allow you to participate.
There are various vehicles you can use to assist you during the invasion (e.g. Demolishers, Glaives). These usually have a few abilities that will do area damage to mobs.
Most of the mobs killed for the invasions do not drop anything, although minibosses do. The shards/chests that are rewarded go into your bags automatically (even if you are dead when the appropriate stage is completed).
Rewards from the invasion are as follows:
Stage 1 - Nil.
Stage 2 -
, which will contain 5
, guaranteed iLevel 700+
, and a chance for iLevel 700
, with very unique models.
Helping to kill the minibosses during this stage will reward more
s (5-10 extra).
Stage 3 - 10
at the end of the stage. Additionally, mini-bosses during this stage drop
s (reportedly 5-15). Therefore, killing these can net you a much higher yield than any other stage!
Stage 4 -
, which will contain 10
, guaranteed iLevel 700+
, a chance for iLevel 700
, with very unique models, and a chance for
This armor is the same armor that makes up the
4 transmog armor ensembles
available for 200
. If you are wanting only the transmog appearances and not the gear, collecting it piece-by-piece from these chests will be presumably much slower than buying the Ensemble.
This armor has a
to be Warforged - this can boost it to item level 705, 710, 715, or 720.
These weapons can be upgraded to iLevel 725 in increments of 5 item levels at a time using
, which will also be available during the pre-launch event
Completing a single invasion rewards the achievement
Completing 6 of the invasions (as listed below) will reward
The above achievements will be Feats of Strength (similar to
from the Cataclysm pre-expansion event) that will not be obtainable after Legion launches.
Another Feat of Strength that will be exclusively available during the Legion pre-launch event is
(collect all 12 of the pamphlets from Doomsayer NPCs in Orgrimmar/Stormwind).
Probably going to sound like an idiot but I imagine that if these warglaives can drop from the chests, demon hunters are going to be available when the invasion begins.
Aside from that, the fact that those warglaives can be upgraded is nice, even though the "Stage 1 out of 6" is probably irrelevant as we can only upgrade those once. Also I wonder if the model is going to change like crafted weapons do ?
Does anyone know if you can obtain this without getting it on a DH, I want to get the item model for my future DH chars I might make but unsure if I'll be able to preorder.
As there are so few warglaive items for transmog, securing this on your new Demon Hunter would be wise!
Several of the NPC Demon Hunters in the starting area use this weapon model.
Is it just me, or is it really disappointing how these don't have unique skin? Demon Hunters seem to have few enough glaive models to choose from...
As of 7/20, Jeremy "Muffinus" Feasel has
confirmed on Twitter
that the style will be available to acquire for everyone without needing to be a Demon Hunter.
EDIT: On 7/25
It was clarified on Twitter
it will be BOA and be sold through the Nethershard vendor.
It should noted that these warglaives are now able to be purchased from the NPC that sells all of the other invasion items for nethershards and that it is BoA, which means you can acquire it for a future DH on a different character if the model suits you.
My question, Can you mog warglaives onto swords/daggers/fist etc? so rogues/monks/shamans can use the model
This weapon is BoA, not BoP as tooltip states..
This is NOT bop as the tooltip lists. I checked it ingame and it is 100% BoA.
I am unable to enchant my Glaive with Mark of the Thunderlord. Not sure if this intended or a bug. The Enchant tooltip says no item above 749 as the only restriction.
With these being BOA you can send these to other toons and use the weapon upgrades on them and send them back to DH.
Bought one of these tonight on my demon hunter. Equipped it, yet it's not appearing in the Transmog section to transmog my other glaive to match.
More surprisingly when you open the appearance tab, it's not appearing there as an option that you CAN get to transmog. There's only three currently in the glaives folder and this one isn't one of them. I'm hoping this is a bug that's resolved, other wise the price is pretty steep for an item you'll use 3 weeks max.
The vendor in Stormwind who is suppose to sell this shows the item (i think its this item) as only a ? and it says retriving item information. Can someone confirm that that ? is this glaive?
Worth noting that, while this item has been made to be BOA, it has not been flagged as an Heirloom, as it is BOA in the sense that TI gear tokens are BOA, or
s are BOA, meaning you can send this item around to your other characters across your Battle.net account, but it is not added to your Heirloom tab.
(Yes, they remain BoA after having been equipped.)
This means two things:
If you want this item for power purposes instead of just the collection of the visual, you will have to obtain (via drop on a DH or purchase on any class) two and upgrade them each seperately, requiring a total of 10
You can pass them around to upgrade them via multiple characters on your account, as long as the character that has the
is at least level 98.
Getting lots of Coalesced Fel on alts and not your DH?
Then good news! You can mail this item to another character, even cross-realm, apply the Fel to upgrade it and mail it back. You won't lose enchants or upgrade levels!
Got this on my Unholy DK yesterday from the blue chest to my surprise.
My question is can we use this to transmog swords on our other toons? I would like to transmog 2x 1 handed swords to look like warglaives.
ok so.. I bought this with the Nethershards on my DH... and it isn't available for using as a transmog... it doesn't even show in the closet tab... is that happening to anyone else?
I created a
showcasing how you can obtain the weapons specifically, since each of them is bound to a spec.
These are the only weapons out of the initial 20 listed that actually made it into the game.
1 Hand Strength Axe
2 Hand Strength Mace
1 Handed Agility Axe
1 Hand Intellect Mace
1 Hand Intellect Sword
If anyone can prove otherwise please let us all know, and post a screenshot. Thank you very much.
's are the only class able to use
Post made on the Blizzard bug forums:
I have all 12 classes at level 100. I've been doing the invasion on all of them as well. I haven't had any issue until just now. I got home, logged in, and I can't even attack with my Demon Hunter who has 2 Glaive of the Fallen because they have the red question mark as the icon and just say "Retrieving item information"... when you hover over them.
The same exact issue exists with the leather chest piece, Felshroud Vest. I have checked on all my leather-wearer character, who all have the chest, and for all of the characters, it's the same issue. The red question mark for the icon and "Retrieving item information..." when you hover over it.
Hoping you can fix this soon as I can't even play on my Demon Hunter until this is fixed...
No change in appearance between stage 1-6
Glaives of the Fallen don't show up on the Armory as of yesterday and today 8/13/16.
, you can use
. the weapon will stay BoA even if upgraded.
For some reason, the glaives are gone. Am I the only one?
Looks like despite the hotfix, you can still get a Warglaive on another class. Just had one drop from a small legion chest.
According to the above list - there is a iLVL 780 version of it.
Does that mean it will scale?
Or would (in theory) a higher iLVL drop on higher Char Level (assuming the invasion would not be over by then).
Anyone has any idea about that?
can you obtain 2 of theese warglaives? ive been grinding like crazy to get my second one, anyone knows? been grinding on 5 alts.. + the DH ofc,
Other classes than DH can use the Warglaives from Illidan, why not these? Doesn't follow logic to me. Illidan's are swords and these are Warglaives. What's the difference? Appearance wise, they look almost the same.
There is currently a known bug that causes this weapon to not be added to your wardrobe (regardless of whether you have one or two, and whether they come from chests, as mine did, or you bought them off the vendor).
Upon ticketing a GM, I was told to mail the glaives to another character and then mail them back, as that may solve the issue.
That didn't work, so the GM then deleted one of the glaives and mailed it back to me, and when I looted it from the mailbox, it was added to the wardrobe fine.
tl;dr If you're having issues with them not showing up in the wardrobe:
1. Mail them to an alt and back
2. Ticket a GM if that doesn't help.
These Warglaives are an excellent opportunity to make a little extra gold on the opposite faction and/or another server. When mailed (or after the 2-hour same-currency refund countdown expires) they can be sold to a vendor for 50g (a reasonable conversion rate of 2
to 50 silver) and are the
vendable items you can buy with
below level 98.
So any characters you might have with hundreds of extra Shards who either have nothing else to purchase at 100, or who you don't think will be leveled that high before the end of the Invasion event, can purchase these to send a little extra gold to a cross-faction or cross-server alt. Personally I think that in the long run Felbats will be worth next to nothing due to all the people hoarding them, so I'll take the gold for my Nethershards instead!
This sells to the vendor for 50 Gold, 5 Silver, 25 Copper (50G 5S 25C).
Since this is BoA, it is a decent way to give a low level character on a new server some initial capital to start the AH game, or just have some initial gold to buy essentials.
The item disenchants into 1
Since the AH price of dust is ~1-2 gold and the price of temporal crystals (transmuting the shard using the daily) is ~25-35 gold, from a purely economic perspective it is better to just vendor the item.
Due to the MASSIVE amount of fel bat pets (look at reddit for some neat bank inventory fel bat pixel art, because, you know, 50 fel bats on one alt, lewl...), it might be better to just stockpile the glaives in case you want to start a new character on a different server and give them an easy thousand or so gold to buy flying.
is this no logner available since the vendor dont sell anything, or can i get it from somewhere else?
This item is no longer available and should be marked as such.
There's still no level requirement to equip this account-bound weapon, which was fair when new demon hunters began at level 98 and this was only slightly ahead of the power curve for that level. But now with the 9.0 patch demon hunters begin at level 8. That means if you're still hanging onto this item from the Legion pre-patch event, you can mail it to a new demon hunter alt and have a ridiculously strong weapon to level with for a while.
Even if you have two of the maximally-upgraded (ilvl 50) version, it probably won't do more than double or triple your damage in starter gear, so this isn't
game-breaking. Still it could be fun until Blizzard eventually fixes it.
Edit: Looks like they've fixed this by adding a level 40 requirement to equip the weapon.
So they finally added a level requirement to these. Not sure what patch or hotfix caused it. They now require level 40.
