This is one of a number of shoulder enchants - this heralds the return of the shoulder enchant after there being none in Warlords of Draenor.
These enchants do not provide combat bonuses, but rather grant the chance to loot extra resource bags when defeating enemies in Legion outdoor zones. Most require various levels of reputation with a respective faction to purchase (as noted below).
Note that most of the enchants are
consumed on use
, meaning that enchanting a new set of shoulders will require that you obtain another enchant from the appropriate vendor, etc. The exception to this is
, which is not consumed and can be used over and over again to enchant various shoulder pieces.
Below is a list of the various enchants available. You can click the coordinates for vendor locations on a map.

Here are my farm results with shoulder enchants (not in beta):
1000 mob kills with each enchantment-->
Boon of the Gemfinder: 8xFound Sack of Gems
Boon of the Harvester: 10xHarvested Goods
Boon of the Butcher: 22xButchered Meat
Boon of the Manaseeker: 13xMana-Tinged Pack
Boon of the Salvager: 9xSalvaged Armor
Boon of the Bloodhunter: 4xBloodhunter's Quarry
Boon of the Scavenger: 8xScavenged Cloth
The item does not need to be soulbound to apply this enchant, so you can buy it on your main who has the reputation, enchant a BoE, and send it to your alt.
I have only tested this with Bloodhunter and not the other Boons.
I find this enchant to be extremely underwhelming compared to the other enchants available.
The proc rate is abysmal. Extremely low.
The amount of blood found in the drop is not worth the time investment.
I found 14 blood farming starlight rose for an hour. Killed mobs in mythic+ runs for 3 hours, 1 pack dropped containing 2 blood.
Absolutely not worth it. In terrible need of a buff. I highly suggest you choose another boon for now. If you don't care for the tradeskill boons I'd suggest the manaseeker boon for the chance at pots and flasks.
I have a lot of alts that are constantly upgrading their gear, so I made a simple WeakAura that checks to make sure I have my shoulders enchanted. Copy the code below and import it into WeakAuras.
Possibly stealth nerfed at some point this week. It used to be if you pulled a whole lot of mobs first thing upon logging in and killed them without looting you could get 5-6 boons at once. Now I'm struggling to even get one.
the drop rate on this enchant sucks
Seems to have been stealth nerfed sometimes during February 2017. Me and some guild mates grind all mythic dungeons every wednesday on several characters to farm bloods and we used to get 3-6 per dungeon, now we're glad if we get 1 per 3 dungeons. Way to kill everything that's even remotely useful, blizz.
Spent 2 hours farming to get one boon only to have it give me ONE blood, thanks bliz
Here are my findings as of 25/03/2017 on EU-Draenor:
sums are made of the average of each drop groups
Starlight Rose 40g70
Silver Mackerel 4g
Cursed Queenfish 3g
Black Barracuda 13g55
Highmountain Salmon 17g30
Mossgill Perch 1g45
Runescale Koi 9g25
sum: 282,9+149,75+138,71 = 571,36
Infernal Brimstone 94g80
sum: 439+229,5 = 763,3
Stonehide Leather 3g33
Big Gamy Ribs 3g42
Wildfowl Egg 9s84
Fatty Bearsteak 3g75
Lean Shank 50s
Unbroken Claw 62c
Unbroken Tooth 51c
Shal'dorei Silk 3g74
Leylight Shard 36g80
Chaos Crystal 219g75
Therefore Boon of the Salvager is a lot better than the rest, I think it's the same for most realms if not all.
The proc rate of Boon of the Bloodhunter appears to be incredibly bad, even by "rare drop" standards. After spending 3+ hours and completing every world quest in Val'Sharah, Stormheim, Highmountain and Aszuna (with the exception of 2 dungeon quests) plus several quests in Suramar, I still only got a grand total of 2 bloodhunter quarries (one had 3 bloods, the other one 5).
didnt see any comments about this, so decided to log in to let others know of it..
you can put these on a piece of heirloom shoulders and send them to your alt. that way you get to "farm" bloods while leveling in broken isles.
i started on broken isles at level 98 on my last leveled alt, but didnt see a drop from it until level 100. so i think you still need to get to 100 for it to "activate"
i have been using a pair of heirloom shoulders that only went to level 100 (i know they can be upgraded to 110 now, but they couldnt when i did this) on my last 4 chars that i have leveled to 110. so in that case, even though you lose the stats from shoulders at your level, you can still get bloods, and the difference is not that big since its only 1 piece of gear.
once i hit 110, i have had between 32 and 45 bloods on all 4 chars. its a nice boost to get at 110 for either resources or crafting mats.
*i have not tried if you can send them to alts on other realms after putting it on. i have only done it on the same realm.
You are no longer able to enchant a piece of BoE shoulders with Boon of the Bloodhunter and then send it to an alt. Enchanting BoE shoulders with the Boon will now make them soulbound. Whether this is a bug or something intentional is not yet known.
Yea total crap not being able to enchant BOE's anymore.
As of 7.3 you still cannot apply this enchant to BoE shoulders, as it binds them to your character when used. You can, however, apply this, and the other shoulder enchants, to the Heirloom shoulders and mail them to your alts. Which I just did moments before posting this.
I don't think the enchant works in BfA content. I've levelled from 110 to 115 and I have yet to see a single drop of blood.
I went back to the Broken Shore to do some world quests and
dropped while I was doing one of the quests. I didn't change my azerite armor between BfA and Legion content.
It appears as of the Shadowlands prepatch, this enchant no longer works.
I and two friends have killed several hundreds of mobs combined and haven't seen a single Bloodhunter's Quarry drop. Perhaps the drop rate has simply been
nerfed but I highly doubt it. If it has, it has been nerfed to a point that it doesn't even make sense to keep the enchantment in the game. We've tried killing mobs in a couple of different areas as well.
Hopefully this gets fixed soon.
Let me know if we (my friends and I) just happened to be killing mobs in a couple of now dead farming spots.
As of Prepatch This Enchant doesn't work any more. Also it can't be applied to Azerite Armor ( Says target is too high level ). Not sure if it's intentional or a bug, but thought i'd save everyone the trouble
I have heard from another player that if you Enchant a Legion ilvl shoulder piece the enchant will work.
After Shadowlands pre-patch (9.0.1) and doing some testing. I have confirmed the Legion shoulder enchants will work on the following:
* Legion content shoulders, including Legion legendaries, but only on level 45 or lower characters
* profession crafted green/blue BFA shoulder for level 45, but only on a level 45 character
* profession crafted green/blue BFA shoulder for level 45 on a level 45 character
* Heirloom shoulders, but only on level 45 or lower characters
* Azerite shoulders from the War Campaign quest lines on level 45 characters (I have an xp locked druid with scavenger and bloodhunter on two pairs of Azerite shoulders and they continue to proc killing on the Broken Isles). These must be enchanted
activating the +5 item level azerite trait on them, as those additional item levels will push it above the maximum for the boons. If you want to put a different boon on them, you will have to reforge them at the Azerite reforger and apply the new boon before activating the +5 ilvl azerite trait..
It is worth noting, existing boon enchants on shoulders that are now too high for it to have been applied will no longer function despite previously proccing before 9.0.1. The only exception I've found is those on level 45 characters.
Edit: Where prior to the 11/3/2020 reset, I was getting boon procs on my level 50 characters using enchanted Legion legendary and legion content crafted/dropped shoulders, I am now getting no procs after 2+ hours of additional testing.
I tested again on my xp locked level 45 character, and continue to receive boon drops of all kinds with a wide variety of shoulders from Legion Legendary, to Legion crafted, legion armor token created, heirloom AND even BFA level 45 green/blue upgraded crafted shoulders.
It appears all of the boon enchants have some kind of strange character level restriction attached to them in addition to the actual shoulder item level now.
It is possible these may work for a level 50 in Chromie Time. However, the flaming hoops required to get a level 50 into Chromie time probably makes it not worth the trouble
I am level 50 so wore legion (the green version, level 49)
, enchanted, and went to wqing in isles and in argus and nothing procced after approximately 500 kills
So... still broken?
As of 9.2, I was able to buy this on a character with rep, attach it to heirloom shoulders, and mail them to a level 46 character (who is still using Chromie Time at 46) and that 46
get the drops.
