This is obtainable every Scholomance run after completing the quest Kirtonos the Herald (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=5384). I believe it is a guaranteed drop from the Blood Steward, Jandice Barov, and Doctor Krastinov. It's unique though, so you can only carry one. It's used to summon Kirtonos the Herald (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=10506) who drops the Boots of Valor.

Might be fairly obvious, but even though it's not a quest item, you can't get this without being on Kirtonos the Herald (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=5384). 90% sure of it.

Once you've completed the herald quest, the blood keeps dropping so you can continue to summon the herald.

If you die fighting Kirth, you lose the blood......Abandon the quest and accept it again and you'll recieve the blood....learned the hard way....:)

Just tested, the drop rate isn't 100%. Was on my second run to get the boots of valor, first run I got the blood off Jandice, second run, none of the three mobs dropped it for me :(

But I did figure out something cool, if you are running an alt to kill the boss for the Boots of Valor, can get the quest where they give you the blood, summon the boss, and then abandon the quest, and when you retake it, they give you another one! As long as you don't turn it in, you can just kill the first two rooms and fight the boss. Speed runs!

It appears that as of patch 4.06 this no longer drops, and Kirtonos can be summoned without it. Was it really that big of a nuisance having to use this?

In the new old scholomance this item drops from Dr. Krastinov.
