This used to be a caster staff with a very unique and odd proc:

"Chance on hit: Decrease target's attack power by 50 for 30 seconds and transfer it into spirit for you."

I suppose from the days where Blizzard was still convinced casters were meleeing mobs, and priests' inner fire gave them an AP buff? lol.

New version is less unique but far more practical.

They could have make poleaxe specialization for staves as well. It'd add kinda unique use if there were more DPS pieces like this. ( aka bladestaves and stuff like that ). Obviously since neither hunter or paladin can use staves it would have obvious use...

If hunters couldn't use staves then the Twisted Chanter's Staff wouldn't be so often seen on the fields of Warsong Gulch with the gleaming green glow of the +25 agility enchant trailing from its crescent finial.

On beta as of 8/27/10 this staff's stats are now:

110-165 Damage Speed 3.00
(45.8 damage per second)
+16 Agility
+16 Stamina
Requires Level 48
Item Level 53
Equip: Improves hit rating by 16.

Currently using it as a nice stat stick on my human hunter :D
