Wow 15% boost to exp from battlegrounds. Maybe now I'll level up some more of my alts.
Hopefully they -don't nerf the +12 Stamina one.
While this does say it is looted from the Gurubashi Arena chest, there is one small hitch: You must have earned the Arena Grand Master trinket by winning the battle for the chest 12 times. Once you have earned the achievement for doing so, opening the chest a 13th time (and thus, being the defending champion) will yield the Defending Champion trinket along with the normal loot.
So does anyone have this and want to answer a few questions?
I recently opened the chest and got an
trinket. I already have
and the corresponding achievement (
). There was no heirloom in the chest, and the heirloom isn't unlocked in my collection.
I was under the impression that winning the chest after having the AGM achievement meant you would unlock the heirloom. Since that didn't happen, I'm guessing something else needs to happen.
Being the defending champion may mean that you have to be the first to open the chest. A level 100 opened the chest first for the music and left me the trinket. The heirloom may only spawn based on whoever opens it first?
If so, that begs the question...can someone with the AGM open the chest and not loot anything, and let someone else get the BoA trinket without needing any of the prereqs?
Can someone who has this tell us more?
Got mine 1st try from the Gurubashi chest :D
Update: The reason i think i got it 1st try is because i already had 2 AGM's equipped also my friend who also had an AGM equipped got his first try so if you already have an AGM you will get this 1st try.
Does it comes something special besides the Defending Champion when you loot the chest for 13th time, or is it the only different special thing that comes in the 13th loot of the chest?
This trinket appears in the arena chest
in addition to
If you want to be especially nice, just grab the heirloom (don't autoloot) and leave the green trinket for somebody who needs it! :)
I received this item today. I have a 29 twink who was the one who got the Arena Grandmaster and the achiv. I looted it on my level 100 Death knight. So you don't have to loot it on the character you received the achievement on. Hope this clears things up for some of you that are curious about this.
I don't think you can get it on characters that don't have the AGM achievement.
I was the first to loot the chest today on a character that didn't have AGM (but a character on the account does), and I did not get the heirloom :(
I had already the
completed on my main back in days, with server hopping managed to find a server after a few minutes with no one there. Looted the heirloom on first attempt. Adding a screenshot of it
Good Luck to get it!
I had issues with getting this heirloom recently, but a GM helped and awarded it to me so I thought I'd share my situation. My Shaman got the
and the corresponding achievement a few years ago, but I had long vendored the trinket. When I looted the chest the other night, I did not receive the trinket heirloom and the GM I spoke to thinks it was probably because I didn't have
in my possession any longer. The GM was able to mail me the heirloom since I did meet the loot requirements and should have received it.
Have any of you who received this heirloom not had possession of
in your inventory (bags or bank)? I'm curious if I'll run into the same issue with the Darkmoon Faire arena trinket as I have also long since vendored or DE'd that one.
You can ONLY get this on the character that has completed the Grand Master quest/achievement (loot 12 chests). Here is a GM log confirming this.
Can anyone confirm if this really is worthwhile to get for pvp leveling. Right now the exp you can gain from bg's is pitiful, can someone confirm whether or not 50% makes any noticeable difference.
This can take a long while to farm and I strongly suggest doing so on a character you are confident PvPing on and have lots of PvP gear with. I had many unsuccessful attempts for the final chest (the one that would actually reward me
Call it a brainwave, it was for me anyway, but I used the LFG tool to sign up to a lower population server (this one typically is a PvE server) and I had very little competition and was able to acquire the final chest.
Top tips: Farm this on a character you feel you CAN PvP on
Do so with at least full blues of the current season
Mecha-blast rockets are VERY naughty here (so use them,
Use a lower populated server and remember it spawns every 3hours server time. (12pm, 3pm, 6pm etc)
If you have any friends willing to help you, rope them in too!
Things to remember: You will need the
(AGM) earned on your current character for your 13th looting to award you
. When you loot the trinket, it IS account-wide learnt just like any other heirloom, so it makes sense to farm for it on your strongest character and of course with the character that has
I can also confirm that
's on use effect shares a CD with other similar trinkets such as the
. Having both of these trinkets equipped and using either of them will force the other on to a 30second CD, very much similar to the lockout of
is a very unique trinket as it combines the versatility buff from
and the on-use from
allowing non humans to have all of these bonuses and keep their
. Not forgetting the XP bonus too for non twinks wanting to BG level as I do :D
I do not believe you need AGM in your bags when looting the final chest to get your heirloom, however, considering how annoying it is to earn this trinket I brought mine along with me as a precaution.
Good luck, champion!
1: Hop hop hop around during very late at nights.
2: Cherish the moment, because chest will be there waiting just for you, when you finally get into a low pop server without any competition at all.
3: Enjoy your easiest chest loot ever ;)
Posting this here cause I didn't see this exact thing:
If you're farming this, you can server hop to lower pop realms and try to snatch it. The lesser known bit is, if you're lucky, you can get multiple in the same spawn window. If your realm looks like a no-go (team of 5 players camping middle) then hop to a different realm, loot trinket there, hop again and look for another chest. I've looted 4 in less than 5 minutes (this was Darkmoon, no STV but same applies in both). Drastically reduces farm time if you get lucky.
Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor. ;]
I'm farming this on my rogue and I find a great help is the addon
Helps keep a track of enemies trinket cooldown, many times i've grabbed it when there was a last man standing with no trinket. A quick blind and win
If you want to go for this trinket and you have a druid, use your druid no matter how well he is geared. Flight form can loot the chest while hovering above it outside melee range. Most people won't even realize you're looting it.
- Once you collect the 12 trinkets, turn in the quest and get the achievement, you need to be the 1st to open the chest in order to be able to get the heirloom trinket: otherwise it will not show for you. I had to find out the hard way. It is easy to get people who are still collecting the green trinket to let you loot 1st especially when you link the completed achievement.
- The events starts every 3 hours server time (12-3-6-9-etc..). It takes the NPC a few minutes to get to the center and drop the chest.
- If you are on a high pop PVP server, the best way is to server hop. But be careful, if someone is in the same group as you, you cannot engage him in the arena. Start looting the chest before him/her and they will not be able to stop you without getting phased out.
PS: This trinket does not work in the arena. What a joke...
After the patch 7.0 you DONT earn extra xp while in a BG. The XP bonus becomes inactive during a BG match, i hope this is a bug and blizzard fix it soon™.
Just completed this within a few days. I started coming here when the Legion invaded Azeroth, and now after the launch og Legion I see even less players there.
I had to do it 17 times because some of the times I couldn't get it because I was out leveled :/
Just a quick tip for ya fellas now after the launch of Legion. Abuse it ;)
From what I understand this Trinket is currently not working due to how all Trinkets effects are disabled in PvP, but this will be fixed in 7.1 hopefully according to Lead PvP designer Holinka. Source:
Edit: As of Pre-Patch for BFA this is supposed to work.
In case anybody was wondering, it does still work as of patch 7.2, got mine on the 13th chest as previous posters have pointed out.
Showed up twice at 9PM one day and 12 AM the other day and it didn't spawn for me on my DK. I'm not phased as I've done zero quests out here. Not sure if it's bugged or what. Both times I showed up 5 minutes early and waited 20 minutes.
The best way that I found to obtain this is to create a level ~20 character on an RP server, then get to the Gurubashi Arena. Most of the time I was uncontested.
You can also make some gold by selling the
in the chest.
This is now apparently working in bgs as the xp part is now colored again in bgs.
do i need to upgrade this to work till lvl 110 in order for the exp bonus to have an effect?
makes an 2v2 arena loss give either 4.8 % or 6.2 % exp and an 2v2 arena win either 8.8 % or 10.1 % exp (I don't know when you get more or less, but looking at the exp gains in chat shows that it's a third separate proc of exp, so maybe it's rng). 3v3 arena rewards fluctuate quite heavily, losses gave me for example 6.3 % and 9.7 % exp (both with three exp procs) and wins for example 8.7 %, 12.6 %, 14.2 % (two procs), 11.1 %, 11.3 %, 14.6 % exp (three procs), using both trinkets. The first bg win of the day gives around 70 % exp using these.
It's decent, especially for WoD and Legion content where dungeons are worthless for leveling (not counting getting boosted by 101 alts ofc) and if you hate questing in old zones like me.
Does anyone know what about Pre-Patch 8.0.1? The arena is PVP zone, will the trinket even be lootable if I have Warmode turned off? Can you only compete for the chests if Warmode is turned on?
One very important thing! Just in case you log into low level character: You have to be atleast level 30 in order to complete the quest for the 12 trinkets.
You need to open a total of 13 chests to get the heirloom; 12 to get the trinkets needed for Mithril's quest, and while in possession of the reward trinket, loot the chest one final time to get the heirloom.
Is this still giving the extra XP? (BFA)
Does anyone know if Defending Champion and Returning Champion equipped give the full 100% xp bonus or only up to 55% because of the xp bonus limit via heirlooms
I leveled a char in bgs and am working on another in bgs with both this and
plus other heirlooms. I don't know all that math stuff, but I level very very quickly in bgs especially when we win. I tend to do a lot of bgs in a particular day and as long as I am winning, I am leveling like crazy. It's an OP way to level in BfA in my opinion.
Edit: It seems to me I get a whole level every time I win a bg.
After years of going back and forth, not really spending the time to try and get the
trinket, I finally went for it. The thing is, the quest to complete this now require lvl 30, instead of 1! Therefore, I can't complete the final quest to achieve my
trinket! Which in terms removes the ability to loot the heirloom from the chest. Ffs! I'm fking pissed off right now for not being able to get this achievement done and get the trinket on my lvl 10.... I'm really disappointed at Blizzard for removing this item from low levels.
edit: this is fixed and now working in AV of Olde
work in the 15th anniversary Alterac Valley event. In full heirlooms, without it, I was getting 31k per tick, with it equipped getting 40.7k per tick.
Considering current event 15th anniversary and ongoing Korrak's Revenge - this is a must have for powerleveling alts. Thankfully I farmed them few years ago when hierloom tab was introduced because i wanted to have them all.
Darkmoon Faire buff + WoW 15th buff + Draught of Ten Lands + full set of looms (you can use cloth one on any character to have 1 set maxed) + Returning Champion and/or Defending Champion is insanely broken exp boost.
I boosted 14 characters basically afking/defending base towers (yeah, shame of me) during working hours or even during watching Netflix.
I believe that Korrak's Revenge may return in future Anniversaries, so prepare yourself.
Unfortunately, come the Shadowlands pre-patch on October 13th, 2020,
both lose their 50% exp increase in battlegrounds.
I don't know the state of leveling from battleground experience in the Shadowlands, but if it's anything like it is right now, even winning a battleground with these two trinkets equipped doesn't grant enough experience for a full level in any bracket that I am aware of. It's a shame they had to completely destroy any hopes of PvP battleground leveling being at all viable, save for any massive buffs to experience earned from completing a random battleground. Currently, on the PTR, there are no such buffs to be found, leading me to assume the worst.
As of posting this a few weeks into Patch 9.0.2, there is currently a bug preventing this item from being upgraded past its first stage of lvl 1-29 with the use of
Edit: There seems to have been a recent hotfix added to allow this to be upgraded straight away from player lvl 29 to 44 with the use of
I am shocked that nobody here is talking about the actual on use effect of either this or
. TL;DR if you have 1 better trinket and have to pick between this and returning for your lvling tank, use returning. The on use heal can crit, healing for 20% of your hp. On top of that, the heal works with versat stat meaning it heals more than 10/20% where as defending will only ever give exactly 10%. I use my WoD BoA trinket and this as my 2 tank trinkets.
for damage or
Shard of moon
for defense. Returning is bar far the best lvling tank trinket you will find. If you are tanking and lvling in fungeions, use returning.
For anyone like me who wanted this heirloom for a while but figured it would be too hard to get... I think it's popularity has significantly leveled off in Shadowlands. I had a level 16 alt parked at the arena and managed to get it in less than four days. Only 1/13 trinkets were contested by someone else.
