You get the crate as occasional drop while fishing on Darkmoon Island, it contains 1 x
as a 100% drop, and sometimes additional elixirs like
Darkmoon Tincture of Precision
Darkmoon Tincture of Alacrity
Darkmoon Tincture of Deflection
Darkmoon Draught of Flexibility
Also each cast in Darkmoon Island shipwreck debris pool has a 100% crate drop.
There are sixteen possible items (Darkmoon Draughts and Tinctures) that may be randomly obtained from a crate. They are also sold by
for the cost of one
Various Darkmoon food and drink items are also sometimes in the crate.
Here is a rough guide to how many crates you can expect per hour fishing as well as how many Darkmoon Daggermaw's you catch along side them.
These crates can be fished up from pools of Shipwreck Debris around Darkmoon Island, or rarely can be fished up from open water. Each successful cast into a Shipwreck Debris pool will yield 1
as well as roughly 2-5
. Pools usually despawn after 1-2 casts.
Each crate contains 1 guaranteed
, a random assortment of Darkmoon elixirs, and various random Darkmoon foods/drinks.
Below is a breakdown of the contents of these crates.
This potion is a consumable that reduces gathering time, and is found in every crate.
Some general information about this potion:
The buff granted by the potion both reduces gathering time and slightly increasing your character's size
Gathering time for skinning is reduced by 1 second, and for herbalism/mining by 1.5 seconds.
Fishing cast time is not reduced by an appreciable amount.
The buff lasts 60 minutes.
The potion can be used in addition to other flasks/elixirs.
The buff granted by the potion does not persist through death.
This item does not require the Darkmoon Faire to be active, and is not soulbound. As such, it can be traded or sold on the Auction House.
Similar gathering items include:
, a treasure found in Spires of Arak at (40,55) on a mountainside. This item reduces the cast time for mining, even for non-miners in their garrison mines.
, dropped by the rare spawn
in Nagrand. This item reduces cast time for herbalism by 1.5 seconds, even for non-herbalists in their garrison herb garden.
, usable only in Pandaria. These are a rare drop from
s on Timeless Isle, or from the rare spawn
, found in
. The gathering time reduction is the same as this potion.
Note that none of the above items stack with this potion.
1 of these potions is guaranteed to be inside each
that you fish up. As such, every cast into a Shipwrecked Debris pool will yield 1
. This is by far the most efficient way of obtaining these potions (rather than spending 25
each from the vendor)!
(Fishing Prizes) is the vendor that sells these potions at the Darkmoon Faire. She is located at (52, 88) - beside the left dock ramp, under the reddish awning. The currency used for this vendor is
, which can be fished up in the waters surrounding Darkmoon Island. Here are some notes about catching these fish:
These fish can be caught from open water OR pools
When fished from open water, 1
is caught per cast, unless you fish up a
(a rare catch), containing gold and 5-10
Fishing in pools of Shipwreck Debris will yield multiple
(typically 2-5), along with the
While the fish are the currency for items sold by
, they can also be eaten (for mana and health, they do not grant a buff) or cooked into various dishes that grant a versatility buff (the recipes for which are purchased from Galissa!).
Various random Darkmoon foods/drinks are found in these crates.
Some general information about these foods/drinks:
These foods/drinks grant no buff, only restore health (food) or mana (drinks).
Eating/drinking all of these items is part of the requirement for the achievement
Note that 2 foods and 2 drinks required for the above achievement DO NOT drop from these crates, and thus must be purchased from the appropriate vendor. These are
The food and drink with the highest level requirements for the aforementioned achievement are
(both require level 85). As such, this achievement cannot be completed before a character reaches that level.
The various Darkmoon foods that can be found in these crates are as follows:
The various Darkmoon drinks that can be found in these crates are as follows:
Obtaining Darkmoon food/drink
. Random foods/drinks are contained in these crates, so if you are looking to obtain every one for the achievement, it will be RNG dependent. As mentioned above,
can ONLY be obtained from the vendors.
Darkmoon foods are purchased from vendor
(southeast of the Tonk Challenge pavilion at 53,69), while Darkmoon drinks are sold by
(the small tent just south of the Tonk Challenge pavilion at 50,69). Prices for the food/drinks vary from 10 copper to 2 gold.
**NOTE - As of Patch 6.2, some of the tooltips for the Darkmoon elixirs incorrectly state "Counts as both a Battle and Guardian elixir" when in fact they only count as one or the other. The chart listed below has accurate data on how each elixir is classified**
Various random Darkmoon elixirs can be obtained from these crates.
Some general information about these elixirs:
Some of the elixirs count as Battle elixirs, some as Guardian elixirs, and some as both. The chart below outlines each elixir.
You cannot use two Battle elixirs or two Guardian elixirs simultaneously (although you can use one of each). Standard flasks (e.g.
) count as both Battle and Guardian elixirs. As such, these Darkmoon elixirs can be used INSTEAD of a standard flask, but not in addition to it.
These buffs DO NOT persist through death, and as such must be reapplied.
There is no level requirement for these elixirs.
The amount of a given stat that is provided differs at lower levels. For example,
gives 2.31% haste at level 60, but 2.5% at level 100.
All elixirs provide a buff that lasts 20 minutes. This is in contrast to standard flasks, that last 1 hour (2 hours for alchemists).
You can buy larger quantities than 1 of these potions by Shift+Clicking the item and specifying amount.
Darkmoon draughts will increase the size of your character. Darkmoon tinctures will decrease character size.
The size effects of the elixirs stack with each other. For example, using both a Battle draught and a Guardian draught will progressively increase your character's size slightly both times.
Below is a list of all of the elixirs available. Note that all stat values and percentages are for level 100 characters. Stat values are approximate.
Stat boost (at level 100)
Equivalent stat points
+10% to all
+3% damage/healing done
-1.5% damage taken
(not damage reduction) by ~2%
*Note: Base stats refers to the amount of a primary stat that you have at baseline, with no gear. This value is determined by your class, specialization and level. The only modifier is your character's Armor Skills - this will increase your base primary stat once the appropriate armor is equipped (e.g. a Rogue will receive +5% base Agility for wearing all Leather gear).
The way to determine your base value for any stat is to mouse-over that stat in your character window - the stat will be displayed "Total Stat (
+ Enhancements)", with the Base stat value being
and the Enhancements (gears, flasks, buffs, etc.) being green.
Obtaining Darkmoon Elixirs
. Note that random elixirs will be found in these crates, so a lot of fishing may be required to stock up on any one particular elixir.
Purchased from vendor

For the sake of completeness, you also get 3 random elixirs from
, which is the reward from the quest (and also awards 100
). This quest is started by
, which can be purchased from
. This is a
quest - so not a consistent source of elixirs.
It's too bad these don't drop anything else u.u
This also has a chance of dropping the sea turtle mount.
As of this morning, second crate, I received the
I believe that I've received 2 of these in 1 cast.
I think that they may contain themselves, but this is extremely rare.
