The Imperial Plate Armor. Every tankers dream. Problem is just, it does take quite a large amount of Thorium, and Star Ruby's as well.
I'll add the list over total components, bonus's, skill reg's and level reg's.
And having a full set myself, i can say that just because its STR/STA based only, doesn
In my opinion if you like sets then this is the first set to obtain for a warrior, followed by the Battlegear of Valor and on to (via upgrade) the Battlegear of Heroism. The Imperial Plate full set is a 7 piece set but extras are given for 2, 4, and 6, nothing for 7, as there are no gauntlets for this set , I found the Gauntlets of Valor to go well with this set and as I mentioned extras for 6 pieces only, if you obtain the Belt of Valor or the Bracers of Valor (all three valor items are bind when equip so available in AH) then you can benefit from the 3 set bonuses of the Imperial Plate and the +200 Armor of the Valor set. Giving +300 Armor. I found the Traveler's Cloak to be a good match to this set of Armor. The other items of Valor are bind when equip and need to be obtained by drops from raids. (see details for the Valor set) The Imperial Plate set can be either bought in AH or made quite easily as a Blacksmith with all plans available from one guy in Gadgetzan and wearable between lvls 47 and 56.
Crappy item, but excellent for levelling Blacksmithing from 270-300. Raw mats of 12 Thorium bar is the cheapest item you can make in this bracket. The recipe is obtained by giving 10x Thorium Bars to the Thorium Brotherhood B-smith in Gadgetzan
ou need level
to get the quest in Tanaris from the guy Derotain Mudsipper. I dont know how high BS you will need but i had 267 when i got all the quests.
you will also get Thorium Brotherhood Reputation

Hope it helps :)
The price of thorium has sky rocketed, doh
On Dalvengyr it goes for about 50g a stack. If you don't mine the thorium yourself your doing yourself a disservice.
270 - 290 = 250 Thorium Bars. Imperial Plate Bracers (12 bars x 20 Skill ups + 10 for recipe) after that plan turns yellow
290 - 295 = 120 Thorium Bars. Imperial Plate Bracers (12 bars x 5 Skill ups x 2 for failures to skill up)
295 - 300 = 140 Thorium Bars. Imperial Plate Boots (18 bars x 5 Skill ups + 20 for recipe)
Roughly 510 Thorium Bars
Keep in mind that 290-295 might take less and might take more. 290-295
If you decide to mine it yourself I recommend leveling to 63+ making the mobs die quick enough that your not /BangHeadOnKeyboard
I have found Western Plaguelands to be the quickest for me, simple route gets me a stack in less than 20 minutes. I don't want to divulge all my secrets, neve rmind, I do, Cave just north of the west/east plaguelands border. Yeilds one small one rich vein. Go north to hearth glen and you'll find two small en route. Go to the back of hearth, 2 rich. Rinse and repeat 26 times. For fun after you get all the rich veins fight your way into hearth glen's forge and smelt there buying time for the cave nodes to spawn. If this info has helped you at all rate me
The imperial plate set isn't for wearing when you are 50-56 and being good, Its for looking like a SW guard when you F*#k with alliance noobs when your horde is 70.
